Finding Madeleine | Chapter 3, Sir Clement and Son

Finding Madeleine

Dedicated to all who are unjustly held and to those who set them free.

“There’s no place like home.”

Chapter 3:     Sir Clement and Son

“If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you do read it, you’re misinformed.”

Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain

“Here’s the weird thing about the Murdoch [Fox News Corporation] family; they believe what they read in the papers.”

Matthew Freud

Clement Freud (b. 1924, knighted 1987, d. 2009) is Sigmund Freud’s grandson. Clement is a removed cousin of Edward Bernays through Sigmund’s mother. Edward Bernays was a propagandist for President Wilson for whom he coined the phrase “Make the Word Safe for Democracy” to promote Wilson’s desire to enter World War I on the side of England.

Clement was a witty and avuncular British celebrity chef, media personality, “raconteur” and bon vivant. Clement became much endeared to the British public through a series of dog food commercials in which he appeared with Henry, a droopy-eared and droopy-joweled hound he much resembled.

Clement authored two popular children’s books about a young boy named “Grimble”. In the first book, Grimble is left home alone. Grimble is said to be a favorite of J.K.Rowling’s when she was a child. Rowling is the author of the popular Harry Potter series. After Madeleine disappeared Rowling and Kate became close. Rowling advised Kate with her book, “Madeleine”, and provided generous financial support for the campaign to Find Madeleine.

“Rowling has been heavily involved in the search for Madeleine since she vanished in May 2007. The writer offered a reported £1million reward to find the youngster.

She also donated to the fund set up to aid the worldwide search. Rowling arranged for a poster featuring Madeleine to be made available to book retailers across the globe.

And last November she helped Kate and Gerry to secure their book deal. She suggested they use her literary agent Christopher Little, who arranged a publishing contract with Transworld.”

Besides being an author of children’s books and cookbooks, Clement was also a regular on a popular and long-running British radio show “Just a Minute”, and also did charity work on behalf of the Down’s Children Association and the Refugee Children’s Fund. Clement was elected to Parliament as a member of the Liberal Party where he served from 1973 until 1987, after which he was knighted.

Sir Clement had access to a villa in Praia da Luz a few hundred yards from where the McCann’s were staying when Madeleine vanished. In early July 2007, about two months after Madeleine disappeared, the Mccann’s were approached by Clement from out of the blue; we are told the Mccann’s had no prior relationship with him.

In addition to his other talents, Sir Clement was an accomplished and published chef; he was inviting the Mccann’s to his Praia da Luz villa for a home-cooked meal.

”I have a house in P da L. Been ashamed of the intrusion into your lives by our media and if you would care to come to lunch/dinner at any time before Wednesday next, do ring and let me know. I cook decent meals.”

It was a thoughtful, chivalrous, offer. Clement was concerned for the couple on account of the media onslaught to which they were being subjected. The Mccann’s accepted and Clement hosted them on one or two other occasions. They seem to have gotten on well. Upon arriving for a visit Kate Mccann described Clement’s greeting:

He gave me one of his looks and a giant glass of brandy, and managed to get a smile out of me with his greeting: ‘So Kate, which of the devout Catholic, alcoholic, depressed, nymphomaniac parts is correct?’“

Evidently, Clement had been keeping up with the tabloids for which Kate and Gerry’s marriage and lives had become daily fodder. Given how other British celebrities and notables such as Rowling had reached out to the Mccann’s, perhaps Clement felt obliged to do the same. In any event, Clement and the Mccann’s would continue a correspondence.

Clement died of a massive heart attack on April 15, 2009. It wasn’t unexpected; his Doctor had earlier recommended a triple heart bypass. Clement’s funeral was attended by a number of British luminaries from the fields of politics, media and entertainment, including: Labour PM Gordon Brown, George Osborne, the Shadow Chancellor at the time, Bono of the Irish rock group U2, and former Liberal Party leader David Steel.

In her eulogy, Clement’s daughter Emma recited the last words her father had written before he was found dead, slumped over his writing desk:

“…and in God’s good time…”

Seven years after Emma delivered her eulogy, two British matrons were featured on an ITV “Exposure” documentary. They revealed Clement molested, raped and abused them when they were young girls. Two others have since made similar accusations.

It’s unknown how many others Clement may have victimized, or when he stopped. That is, if he stopped.

It seemed Sir Clement’s interest in the Mccann’s might not have been entirely chivalrous.

Among some, Praia da Luz has a pedophile-friendly reputation. There were reports of children being molested and assaulted in the area prior to the Mccann’s arrival. A number of known pedophiles in the vicinity were of interest to the Portuguese investigators after Madeleine disappeared.

The Mccann’s connection to Clement came to also include his son Matthew. Matthew Freud heads a prominent London PR Agency and media firm bearing his name (Freud Communications; aka “freuds”). At the time, Matthew’s father-in-law was Rupert Murdoch.

Another person who became closely connected with the Mccann’s and Matthew was Clarence Mitchell. Clarence was the Director of the Media Monitoring unit of the British government’s Central Office of Information where he was responsible for running the British government’s press office. At the request of the British Foreign Office, Clarence was assigned as the Mccann’s official spokesman shortly after Madeleine began making daily headlines in Britain and worldwide.

After Brian “BK” Kennedy began calling the shots at Madeleine’s Fund, Clarence took early retirement from his government job and hired on with the Fund. It was a full-time job. About a year later, in September 2008, Matthew Freud hired Clarence for a position at Matthew’s Agency. Clarence left Madeleine’s Fund and kept the Madeleine account when he moved to his new job.

Through Clement and Clarence, Matthew was in a position to know of the Mccann’s thoughts and efforts and of what they came to know of the investigations into their daughter’s disappearance. Through Clarence, Matthew was also in a position to influence what the Mccann’s said and did.

After working awhile at Matthew’s Agency, Clarence moved on to another. Thereafter, he went out on his own. The Mccann’s were loyal to Clarence; they stuck with him throughout their ordeal. Clarence was their rock. Things change, however. In August 2016, after working with the Mccann’s for the better part of nine years, Clarence was given notice. Madeleine’s Fund was running out of funds.

That both Clement and Matthew became involved with the Mccann’s after their daughter vanished seems not to have raised eyebrows at the time. Clement’s decades-long history of child abuse, rape and assault was not yet known, at least not publicly.

Neither was it known the name “Mathew Freud” was in Jeffrey Epstein’s little black book. Epstein is a billionaire who pleaded guilty to soliciting sex from an underage girl in 2008.

Epstein’s black book has three numbers for “Mathew Freud”; two carry London dialing codes. Epstein’s black book wasn’t so little. It had nearly 100 pages of names and contacts. Some of those in Epstein’s black book may have been recorded in compromising encounters with underage girls for purpose of blackmail.

The contents of Epstein’s phone book became known sometime in 2011 when it was included in court documents pertaining to Prince Andrew’s alleged involvement with one of Epstein’s under-age girls. Prince Andrew is sometimes referred to as “Randy Andy” by the British tabloids. Prince Andrew likes to enjoy himself and Epstein is known for showing folks a good time.

Matthew Freud knows people; he is connected to the highest levels of the British government and married into a family that controls one of the largest international media conglomerates. Matthew’s first wife subsequently married Princess Diana’s brother. When Barack Obama ran for U.S. President in 2008 Matthew reportedly hosted fundraisers for him at the home he shared with his second wife, Elisabeth Murdoch. Among Matthew’s friends is Tony Blair. Blair was the outgoing British Prime Minister when Madeleine disappeared. Matthew may lean left but his friendships extend to the British Conservatives, including George Osborn and David Cameron.

Matthew’s friendship with Blair later became a factor in Matthew’s divorce from Elisabeth Murdoch. Elisabeth was Matthew’s second wife and is Rupert Murdoch’s daughter. Rupert controls one of the largest media conglomerates in the world. In addition to The Times and The Sun, Murdoch owns the Fox News Network and the Wall Street Journal.

There was a time when Murdoch and PM Blair came to cross-purposes over politics and business. Matthew chose his friend over his father-in-law. It did no good for Matthew’s relationship with Rupert or for his marriage.

Matthew’s family and friends difficulties were just beginning. Rupert discovered that Blair and Rupert’s wife, Wendy Deng, might have had a few sleepovers (Rupert and Deng divorced in 2013). It didn’t help matters when Elisabeth discovered Matthew to have fathered a child with one of her younger BFF’s.

It all seems so British. Or Freudian. Or both.

Like his removed cousin Edward Bernays, who is credited (with also Ivy Lee) with coining the name for and founding the modern public relations industry, Matthew seems to be good at tricks. Matthew apparently kept his affair from Elisabeth for two years, possibly longer. Elisabeth reportedly became aware of the affair and the son Matthew sired after she had held his baby. They were soon to divorce.

In the aftermath of the 2016 ITV program that exposed his father, Matthew found it necessary to cancel a few social engagements. People were talking. Some thought Clement might have something to do with Madeleine’s disappearance. Matthew vigorously defended his father claiming Clement was not in Praia da Luz when Madeleine vanished.

If Madeleine was abducted, at the age of 83 Clement was an unlikely candidate for her abductor. Besides, abduction wasn’t his style; he also seemed to prefer girls of around 10 years to mid-teens. Then too, Clement was rather portly at the time and not in the best of health; he would probably collapse had any 5-year old punched him in the gut or kicked him in the shins. Abduction also takes planning and accomplices, where Clement seems to have been an opportunistic loner. Sir Clement would not be our first arguido for lifting and making off with a stranger’s sleeping child.

If Madeleine was abducted, and Clement was involved, he had another role.

From Sigmund Freud to U2’s Bono to Princess Diana’s brother to Rupert Murdoch; a fascinating web of intrigue.

Sigmund Freud lives on in all his degenerate forms. Of course, Sigmund has become known as Sigmund Fraud like the other Jewish members of the Frankfurt School of junk science – in fact the subversion of science on sexuality, race, genetics and anthropology. It is hard to understand their mindset without delving into evolutionary psychology and social biology. E.O. Wilson’s excellent book “Sociobiology” provides a lot of insight into the genetically conditioned degenerate minds of Freud and his co-destroyers from the Frankfurt School of Subversion.
