The world’s most expensive military is becoming even more expensive. According to the latest report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the trend of declining US military spending, which started in 2012, is coming to an end. As our graphic illustrates, the government’s expenses for troops and weaponry is on the rise again in 2016 for the first time in five years. The waning numbers in the past were mainly caused by the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the repercussions of the financial crisis.

The Infographic furthermore shows the contrast between Obama’s first presidential term with largely increasing military costs and his second term, which for the most part is characterized by expense reduction. Meanwhile the Trump administration plans to spend 54 billion dollars more on the military next year; in part funded by cuts in education, science and environment. This translates into another 9 percent rise from the current amount.

Liberal Useful Idiots are blinded by stupidity, sloth and greed. Save your alligator tears for the Tree In Your Own Eye! Welfare Waste is over 55% of the Federal Budget whereas Defense is only about 17%. The trend over the last 50 years (esp under Carter, Clinton and Obama) has been to steal from Defense and pad fat Welfare Asses; the result is Detroit, failed government schools, and Antifa. The whole Defense Budget, needed Infrastructure and the Wall could come out of just Welfare fraud and abuse! What good will all the “free” Federal bologna be if America is destroyed by invading Third World Barbarians and First World Warriors who want to enslave and kill us.

So the US spends more on defense than the rest of the world combined and has for decades and still the military is badly dilapidated and in need of (guess what) more money. Oh, and trillions is ‘missing’. What a goddamn farce.

You got that right, CC! That’s what Empires do though, isn’t it? Debase the currency and go to war. Can’t have one without the other. Seems to me that I have read somewhere that the U.S. is just a tad in debt. Maybe I am mistaken!

That chart is a joke. Like you said, there’s trillions missing. I guess the Military Industrial Complex, including the Pentagon, doesn’t consider money lost part of “military expenditures.”
