The first time I heard “One Step Closer” on the radio I instantly sat up and took notice. “Who are these guys?”!
He actually had quite a quality, melodic voice and great range. I obviously don’t identify with much of the team angst and such, but the songs Numb and Somewhere I belong are universal in the human desire to connect..I am sad that I won’t hear any new LP songs….

I wasn’t digging their newest album two months ago when it was released. It wasn’t their typical angst ridden sound and I didn’t think it suited them. Now, it fits perfectly and I’m pretty broken up by it.

That is some pretty sad shit. I never really listened to LP, but I just watched pretty much the whole album on youtube and the entire freaking thing is a self written preemptive eulogy. “Who cares if one more light goes out…..well I do” “Can I help you not to hurt anymore?” It kind of reminds me of the movie “Amadeus” His last composition in essence killed him (if memory serves me). St. Rita and St. Jude: pray for us. Something is vastly awry.

Talented, yes, but what kind of loser hangs himself at 41? Or was he suicided?

It’s a rough old world out there. Personally I’m hangin’ around to see the worlds lamp posts get decorated.

Funny! That’s similar to my dad’s reasoning as well.

Anyone other than me notice a common theme among the Xer musicians that have died over the past 15 years? It’s not a simple story like Morrison or Joplin, Boomers who came from good nuclear families and who decided to rebel against the GIs, the Church of Christ, and societal norms. Oh no.

Go read about the childhoods of Cornell and Cobain. Or Staley and Weiland. Yes, even Bennington. These guys, although incredibly talented, all came from broken homes, products of fucked up parents in a fucked up world created by those same Boomers. Cornell, whose death hit me harder than any of them, was so adversely impacted by his POS parents that he suffered from agoraphobia and severe anxiety for years during high school. Staley? He said that the only reason he wanted to become famous was so his father would come back. And when did Bennington turn to booze?

Yeah, we Xers have to shoulder the burden of sinking our depression and anxiety disorders in bottles and pills. Oftentimes, it seems, to unhappy endings. Hell, call it a gigantic pity party orgy all you want. But you Boomers? You are the cause, X is merely the effect. You own the highest divorce rates in American history and scoffed at the shrinks who told you how stupid you were for leaving your wives for the fling of the week. There’s no running from it and historians will look at your generation as the epochal tipping point in American culture.

Now who’s going to pay your Social Security again? The Xers are dying young and the Millennials don’t work! As ye sow, so shall ye reap.

“And when did Bennington turn to booze?”

I would guess after his parents divorced and furthermore after he realized there was something seriously fucked up about being the victim of prolonged sexual abuse, while your father worked to stop sexual assault. Whoops, I guess pops forgot that charity starts at home.

Lost another person to the suicide beast. Who cares if he was famous? He was tormented in his mind and writing it out wasn’t enough to save him. May his loved ones find peace.

The real question should be:
What info did he have regarding criminal acts by the Clintons…?

How does this negate him as a human with issues in his mind that made him choose to commit suicide? Just curious.

Wrong – 70% of divorces are initiated by women

Don’t blame it on men.
