Questions of the Day: The Number 23

I was going to point out my experience (below) the other day on Hardscrabble Farmer’s “The Children’s Story” post but decided against it because it just seemed a little too strange, even for this place.  But I keep thinking about it. And wondering. So now I am just curious.

This is going to seem a little bizarre, but here it goes anyway (and followed by a few questions):

The night before Hardscrabble’s “The Children’s Story”  post, I started watching “The Number 23” (Starring Jim Carrey) on Netflix.  Why?  I have absolutely no idea.  I just saw it and started watching.  I stopped it about halfway through and went to bed, but I will probably finish it at some point.  In the story, Carrey plays a guy who starts making ubiquitous connections with the number 23.

The next morning I visited TBP and watched “The Children’s Story” and noticed the following:

At the 3:46 mark of the video:  The bell rings at exactly 9 AM and we see the shadows of our “conquerors” entering the school.   46 divided by 2 = 23.  2 combined with the minute mark of the video (3) is 23.

In the video, the teacher tells the class she is 23 and we also see the number 32 on Johnny’s shirt.  Johnny was the lone voice of dissension in the class and the number 32 is, of course, the numbers 2 and 3 backwards.

Towards the end of the video, with the ideological subjugation of the children completed (including Johnny), we see the teacher look up to the clock overhead.  The time is exactly 9:23.  In other words, it took exactly 23 minutes to completely subvert the minds of the children.

Finally, if you remove Peter Ustinov’s comments from the beginning and end of the film, its overall length is 23 minutes.

QUESTIONS:  Is the above just a random series of coincidences?  Do we see only what we want to see?   Or, is there something supernatural about the number 23?

Good movie, one of the few drama roles that Jim Carrey did that I enjoyed, along with “The Truman Show”.

If you are into numbers, check out the incredible number 9 (nine plus any digit returns to the same digit):

Check out the base 60 number system. Goes nice with 23 and alot of higher level math, and geometry really nice. Beyond that, I believe we see what we look for.

My best guess is that whoever or whatever designed the system to which we belong left signs of their creation for any of the elements of the creation to discover.

Fibonacci sequence, the magic of nines, 23 pairs of chromosomes in a genetic strand, 11:11, Pi, etc.

These are like lines of code built into everything from the shape of an embryo to the layout of our own galaxy. It is worth noting that they require a base ten operation to function. Oddly, we have ten digits, almost the certain source of the base ten numeric system. The nines defining the sum of the numbers in any angle circle, for example, find their origin in the fact that that the perimeter of a hexagon is exactly equal to six times the radius of the circumscribed circle. A circle is considered perfect and the hexagon is laid out to represent the terminal extension of the normally proportioned human body. So it appears that most of the math we use is tied to our physical form and helps us to understand the functions of basic shapes and movements that are ubiquitous throughout nature.

There ought to be a study devoted to this, but numerology is about as close as anyone ever gets.

Funny, I also noticed the clock in that short film and just how efficient the teacher was in being able to lead her young charges into accepting a completely different world view.

“It is worth noting that they require a base ten operation to function.” That isn’t true at all. Pi is pi and you can express it no matter what base you are using. The base is just a yardstick—using a different yardstick doesn’t change how tall you are. The Mayans had a base 20 system (fingers *and* toes, we might assume), Mesopotamians base 60. Pi in base pi is not an irrational number.

We give way too much credit to numbers over and above the things they (poorly) represent.

There is no such thing in actuality as a perfect circle, straight lines, or absolute zero, etc. They are human fantasies which exist only in our imaginations, and problems arise when we expect the actual world to behave like the abstraction.

“It is worth noting that they require a base ten operation to function.” That isn’t true at all.

I challenge you to prove that.

Demonstrate how the Fibonacci sequence would work using a base 7 system- or pick any other one you like except base ten.

Remember to show your work.

It’s likely neither random nor a coincidence.

I read two books about DNA during my hiatus. One chapter dealing with the brain stated that one thing our brains are EXTREMELY good at is Pattern Matching. That it is how babies learn language. That without it the literally billions of pieces of data which enter our minds daily — esp in this digital world — would overwhelm us to the point we could not function. Patter matching, in short, filters out the bullshit.

Quick examples.

I used to play Reader’s Digest Word Power often. I would see a word I’ve never seen before. More often than not I’d see that very same word AGAIN often within a day or so!! I’ll bet that happened to you.

My neighbor works on exotic cars. He was telling me about his current project .. a rare Caddy. A month later I saw the same model Caddy (different owner)! For a MONTH my brain was subconsciously pattern matching … discarding the thousands of other cars I saw as irrelevant, until it found the “right” one …… and I wasn’t even looking! At least consciously.

I think that might have been what you experienced with #23.

Speaking of numbers …. 69 occurs millions of times every day. Bada Boom !!

69 ÷ 23 = 3 and it takes 2 (I’m told) which makes another 23. Bada, boom, boom ?

Maggie here to submit that 69 reduced to 15 to 6, which is 2 times 3.

Number patterns are a great mystery game. I got my kid a nice magic set once upon a long ago. Many of the tricks were really simple manipulation of numetical laws. For instance the missing Domino trick got me so fascinated I bought a deluxe set of double twelves (put that in a 34 G!!!!!) and proceded to drive myself insane figuring out numbers in DOT form. I hope I don’t have a feeling I just triggered my dot fetish.

Could this pattern-matching be responsible for seeing certain people everywhere despite the statistical evidence?

Possibly because of the statistical evidence. But does that make it true? If so, how can we be sure we’re not biased by what we think we know?

Well. It is OBVIOUS. 34 reduces to 7. G is 7th in alphabet. 14 becomes 5, which is 2 plus 3. So if you do not grasp that a set of double 12s (double is another way of saying 2) and 12 reduces to 3.

This was me when on a phone with no contact information. I was trying to show that 34G ties in with the number 23 very easily. In fact, I suspect they are equal.

23? As in 2 x 3 = 6?
Some say numerology is satanic. I’ve always looked at mathematics to be the language of ‘God’.
Speaking of satanic, 666 ( 100(2×3) + 10(2×3) + (2×3)) has some interesting properties..
‘There are exactly 6 6’s in 666 to the power of 6. There are also exactly 6 6’s in the previous sentence..’
‘If you write the first 6 Roman numerals, in order from largest to smallest, you get 666:
DCLXVI = 666.’
Here is a compendium of mathematical facts about the number 666:

28 is much more fascinating than 23. Because 7 x 13 = 28.

Jim = 3 letters. Carrey = 6 letters. 3 x 6 = 18 = 6 + 6 + 6. It’s settled. Jim Carrey is the Antichrist.

Hey Stubb, that’s pretty good!

Another possibility based on your work;

Administrator Quinn

— Administrator = 13 letters
— Quinn = 5 letters

13 + 5 = 18
18 = 6 + 6 + 6.

Clearly, Administrator Quinn is the Antichrist.

Stucky- Food for thought, if a Goy should ask a Joo to contribute to a Goy cause, technically they are supposed to donate an amount that is divisible by 18. One could surmise that it is the 666 thing. Why would that be a rule for them? Could it be satan?

Coincidences are merely math. Some events are mathematically more likely to occur.
For instance, if you take a pack of playing cards in any random shuffle and cut the deck, you will get an identical number of blacks in one pile to reds in the other pile every time. It’s not spooky; it’s just math. Here is a terrific web resource: VSauce. Please watch these, or any, videos of his. They’re all thought-provoking and worth your time.
