Twenty-some years ago I stopped to talk with my neighbor’s son on the road to my farm. He’s a churchgoing fundamentalist Christian. We chatted a bit about this and that, then he told me very seriously, “You know we are living in the End Times.” I drove off thinking he and his ilk were in LaLa land. Today we are living in very dicey times. Lots of doomer-porn out there, fearful mass media brain washing and looming events casting their shadows on the present. Any thinking person should be concerned.
People can either run in circles like Chicken Little or make plans for what may becoming down the pike. Your parents are survivors and their DNA is in you. Perhaps you and Ms. Freud can work together on a positive plan to deal with what is happening. The next hurricane, Irma, can potentially hit any place on the Atlantic coast from FL to New England. From a world perspective, it does seem that the end is always around the corner, from what I have read, the year 999 was the year to end all years in biblical prophesy.
From my Christian perspective, we are to live as if the Lord could return tomorrow, so it’s not unusual to see many looking for the signs. My personal thought is we are close, but got caught up in the 70’s late great planet earth hysteria and have learned to be careful in my guesstimates.
For you and your wife, love each other and live an honest and good life and keep your heart open to the truth and maybe one day, it will set you free. A lot of this material comes from a discourse by Jesus in Mathew 24-25. It’s complicated because the disciples asked Him 3 questions at once & it’s hard to see which bits are answers to what question. The key is that the passage w/ wars & disasters is routinely quoted out of context:

Matthew 24:2: And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

-There is a world – wide persecution of believers.
-The Gospel must be preached to all ‘nations’, ethne in the original. “Peoples” is a better translation than “nations”, because today we think of nation states, a modern phenomenon. Literally the word means “tounges”, “ethnic groups”. The different tribes, castes, subcultures, etc. So this is a big job.
Anyway, neither of these have happened yet, but they may not be far off.

Just today the wife and I had the discussion about the end. She said cremation and dump my ashes somewhere that doesn’t want human ashes spread. The answers to your question show that there are a lot of serious Scoffers reading TBP (and we know in the World) these days; taken alone it means nothing but it will be a tiny piece to the puzzle soon.

There are many verses in the old and new testament that extol the action of reproof. It is not the same as judgement. God judges us. We are warned not to do that but reproof is advised if done with good intentions.

Much of this shit is NOT in the Bible. A lot of this shit is cherry-picked from different parts of the Bible and spun into whole cloth that means nothing.
Case in point: there is no “end-times” in the Bible. There is no “rapture” in the Bible. There is no “Anti-Christ” in the Bible. It’s all fabricated.
End times simply refers to Christ’s second coming (some people dispute the first,) big battle with Satan, the good guys win and life goes on. So on this they invented the silly “rapture” bullshit.
I stop reading (or watching) when I see “Anti-Christ.” Many people believe it comes from the Book of Revelations. I’ve read that book and most of the Bible. There is NO Anti-Christ in Revelations and none in the Bible. Closest thing is the Book of Daniel that mentions Anti-Christ(S) in others words plural, in other words many, but there is no Anti-Christ (singular) in other words some demonic dude who wants to rule the world. Daniel’s Anti-Christs are simply people who once believed and no longer do so, in other words back-sliders.
As far as natural disasters, take that with a grain of salt. Yes, we’re getting more extremes in the weather, but mostly we’re getting more people. In 1970 the world population was half what it is today so there’s more people affected by disasters no one knew about before.
And, yes, drinking is an option but that won’t help unless it’s your wife doing all the drinking.
