You know what? As a father of 2 daughters who have been involved in girl scouts, my first thought was “Great, maybe they would be able to actually learn something useful, now!”
From my experience, GSA is nothing more than a multilevel marketing scam, with a completely unpaid sales force, pushing cookies. The activities and learning they have gotten has been nothing but “crafting” and “art”. I have not heard them talk about anything I learned in my 3 years of Boy Scouts which included knots, camping, woodworking, safe handling and use of knives, first aid, overcoming challenges, how to use a compass and actually getting out into the woods!
While I would likely not allow my daughters to join a Boy Scout Troop without my being directly involved and attending any overnight trips, I am looking forward to becoming involved and them learning some actual life skills.
Why not get the GSA to change its course instead? If the crazy fucks can make enough noise to force the BSA take girls, surely you can make enough noise to get the GSA to care more about ya know GIRLS.
Exactly my first thought as well, change the course and activities or create a new org that is a more rough and tough girl scouts instead of shoehorning yourself into an existing org and forcing them to accomodate your whims.

Scout membership has dropped by about 1.5 million since its late 50’s early 60’s peak.
However, membership is holding fairly steady this decade. Wow. Ya gotta wonder what kind of fuktard parents still allow their 1.5 million boys to attend such a morally bereft organization.

Last weekend I visited grandsons in another city, a very liberal university community. Part of the agenda was soccer games. Imagine my surprise to observe a whole team (older kids, not my grandsons’) decked out in the uniforms of the day: bright pink shirts and bright pink knee socks. They looked like a bunch of sissies. Parents were quietly mumbling about how ridiculous they looked. (In this community, comments not aligned with current political correctness must be spoken very softly.)
Masculinity continues to be under attack on many fronts.
Don’t worry, they are importing plenty of Somalis who still know how to use their dicks.

Like it or not we either make it work or write it off . Remember 70 % of men 18 to 24 are unfit physically or mentally for military service so girls , learn to shoot that bold action 22 caliber rifle at scout camp and shit and wiz in a ditch down wind of your tent . It’s good training because like it or not , Scout training is a good learning tool for future endevours and our girls are needed to fill that 70% gap of sick men and wussy men . The scary part is when girls the likes of Paris Hilton get drafted

Scouting was a great part of my boyhood, from Cubs to Webelos to Scouts to OA; I finally left when I was 17 or so. Dozens of campouts, several HUNDRED miles of hikes, the Mile Swim and 80 miles in 7 days on the Appalachian Trail; when I was 16, I was a lean, mean and hard-muscled kid. I had been there, done that and had the patches to prove it.
My daughter tried the Girl Scouts for a while; the most physical thing they did was go on one campout – in a cave. Mostly, her troop mommy liked shopping malls and painting their nails with polish – exercise, not so much.
My boy didn’t enjoy heat, humidity or bugs, and we were living in North Georgia. His sojourn in the Cubs was brief.
I think both of them were cheated – I remember Spring, Fall and Winter Camporees that were a long weekend outdoors doing Scout things. Rope bridges, hikes, camps, building towers among the trees or cutting firewood out in the snow. They rarely / never got to do those things, and the stuff they did was mostly boring.
Part of this is modern fathers – too many have no experience camping or hiking themselves, and cannot lead a troop of boys (or girls) out into a woods with confidence. How can you teach what you have not learned?
But this 4th turning may well teach many more how to camp and hike than before – if your car will not run (and no one else’s does either) then you HAVE to hike, and if your city is a flaming wreck then you MUST learn to camp. Those who cannot – starve in place or freeze to death. Experience is a brutal teacher sometimes, but some will learn from no other.
I guess put me in the camp of who gives a rat’s ass? If you want to take your boy out in the woods and teach him some outdoor skills, then you can do that minus a silly hitler youthlike uniform and a goofy pledge. I don’t get the belly aching. If you like the changes, then continue to support the organization, if you don’t like the changes then don’t support them. No need to get all emotional about it either way.

This is nothing more than a money grab and a pre-emptive response to the possibility of LDS pulling out of all Scouting programs. LDS took 170,000 out young men out of Scouting’s Explorer and Venturing programs. It’s estimated that 20 percent of the remaining Cub and Boy Scouts are LDS.
The good news is that individual units can decide whether or not to admit girls. LDS has no plans to do so. There is also the possibility of LDS creates their own program just for young men to compete with Boy Scouts.
While not a fan of LDS, I would seriously consider having my son join an LDS unit or program since they seem to be the only ones still holding up the traditional Boy Scouts values.

I know an LDS scouting dad. He told me a story that he perpetrated on a couple of kids on a campout. It boiled down to them not listening to his instructions, repeatedly; at the end of the campout he told them “We will leave in 15 minutes. Load your gear into the truck now, go take a leak or whatever, and we will go home.”
Two of them got distracted, and looked up to see him take off in the truck with the one (attentive) boy. They yelled, and ran after the truck, which was of course easily able to outdistance them, losing sight of it after a few minutes.
He drove down to the foot of the mountain, and waited. The kids showed up 30 minutes later, footsore, thirsty and repentant, got in the truck and they all went home.
A DOZEN YEARS LATER he (and they) were on another campout, with a new crop of Scouts, who were if anything even less attentive than the earlier two were. The earlier two, now patrol leaders themselves, were trying to keep order in the campsite, and finally sat the whole patrol down, and told them: if Elder Smith tells you to do something you had better do it, and right then, or be prepared to walk ten miles with no gear, no water canteen, and no warning. The kids quieted down and said, He would really make us do that?
The two from earlier said, Let us tell you a story …
