As Americans gear up to celebrate Halloween at the end of October, a recent survey has revealed the fears that really keep people up at night. The Chapman University Survey of American Fears polled 1,207 U.S. adults on their levels of fear across 80 different categories. Like last year, corruption of government officials came top in 2017, with 74.5 percent of U.S. adults saying it makes them “afraid” or “very afraid”.
The unrest and uncertainty of Donald Trump’s presidency has had a significant influence on this year’s ranking. With the U.S. health system still engulfed by chaos, 55.3 percent of respondents are fearful of the American Healthcare Act/Trumpcare. The president’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accords has also had an impact with 48 percent afraid of global warming and climate change and 44.9 percent fearful of air pollution.
The threat of war between the U.S. and North Korea is also starting to touch a nerve. 48.4 percent of Americans fear U.S. involvement in another world war while 47.5 percent are afraid the regime in Pyongyang will use nuclear weapons.
My level of hatred for the cesspool grows by the day (if not by the minute) I left that rathole 6 years ago. I now live in PV Mexico. Yeah, where you can be killed at any minute. The joo owned media cranks out the crap to keep the goyam in the us to spend and pay tax’s to the joo owned banks. Death for all joos is good.
“Where you can be killed at any minute”. Please, let it be so.
Not having enough ammo when TSHTF.
What a sad excuse for a free country Merica has become. The greatest fear of 3/4s of the population is government corruption. We are now the country that 3rd world cesspools with corrupt dictators look up to and try to emulate.
I imagine it’s pretty close to the same in most Western countries. I don’t know of anyone anywhere that actually trusts their government very much.
Even India may now be more honest than the USA, where the EPA and hundreds of other agencies can destroy your livelihood overnight, with no appeal….This is one subject that the American public is rational about.
I do not believe that those results reflect actual fears. Maybe they were offered from a list and that’s how the choices rated, but if people were asked to come up with their fears out of their own heads it would be radically different.
I know, right? Where’s anal rape on this list? That should be #1. It is for me, anyway.
Note that terrorism is not in the top 10…
“Corrupt government officials” is a oxymoron. It’s also #1 on my list of fears. Not even sure what #2 would be. Definitely not nukes.
Meant redundant, not oxymoron. My bad. Too big a bong hit.
I keep having a reoccurring nightmare where there are not enough lamp posts or rope. Just can’t make heads or tails of that one.
along w/lots of baling wire–
Survey was manipulated by Chapman College in LA, Calif established to honor Abe Lincoln; they have a Center for Holocaust Education and found 48% of Americans are worried about global worming eating morans brains.
I am still most afraid of snakes, so that’s analogous with corrupt government officials.
I think of the items on the list more as anxieties than fears. Fear for me is physical as well as psychological and it’s what one feels when the enraged mama grizzly comes barrelling out of the woods has one as the object of her wrath. Now THAT’S clear and present danger!
