Josh Reed, a very tall, bearded man with light colored hair made it to Germany through a London airport with a passport that belonged to his much shorter, brown haired girlfriend.
He told The Sun, “I thought it was my passport, the lady checked it with my boarding pass. It wasn’t until we landed that I spotted it.”
Even if they looked exactly alike, Reed said he and his girlfriend have different last names which is something that should be easy to spot on his ticket.
Reed’s girlfriend ended up sending his passport to him so he could return. As for the airport, they have promised to step it up on security checks.

That one with the gas can and cigarette.
Truth is, it’s almost impossible to light off gas with a cigarette. Still not something to do.
In my time in Sicily, it used to freak me out when the attendants would lean over with cigs in their mouth to check the spouts as they were filling the tank. The cherries would actually glow from the fumes coming out. Finally got kind of fatalistic about it, but its pretty unnerving, to say the least. I had one of those 1 &1/4 round gas cans light off when I was about 14. The big cap bipped me in the forehead, had a huge bruise/egg – we didn’t find it until spring when the snow melted. Burnt my eyebrows off. Otherwise, no harm. but lesson learned.

I know someone that took the air cleaner off the carb intake with a lit cigarette in their mouth and got rewarded with a fireball that engulfed their head.
Has to be more to that story, like maybe had just sprayed carb cleaner or something. I done WAY to much mechanicing to take that at face value. And yes, professionally as a dealership mech, among way more.
Didn’t say it was impossible, just very very hard to do. Aerated fuel, maybe, would up the chances. I’ve seen fireballs from backfire that had no need for any other ignition source.
Vapor isnt liquid. Liquid gas will not light off of a cigarette. Try and make it happen. You can throw a lit cigarette into a pail of gas and it wont light. A hot air cleaner would have hot fuel vapor and would light easily.
Not more to the story. As Martin pointed out, gasoline vapor ignites very readily. You think maybe there might be some vapor in and around that gas can?
I concede what you guys are saying; vapor does light much easier. I saw the motor on an electric drill light off an empty void one time. But that was a spark situation. What I’m saying is that a coal is far less likely, NOT IMPOSSIBLE, to light than a flame. Maybe I stretched it to say almost impossible. How about very unlikely, with impossible for liquid, as Martin said? An open flame is about 100%. A coal; a lot less. Way less. But, Rdawg, you know the circumstances of your story better than me, so I’m not going to dispute it, I’ll draw back on that one. I know such things can happen. Sometimes the percentages just don’t matter.
And, no, I wouldn’t have done what she did, either.

Several years ago when Mercedes owned Freightliner Trucks they decided to offer Euro-spec Mercedes Diesel engines. I was attending a class for maintenance and repair of these engines and was amused to see the initials of the German company that made the air compressor cast in the compressor body: “KKK”. The class instructor said “Yeah, that’s not gonna fly in the U.S. Production units will have the initials ground off until the supplier changes the casting”.
