WHAT DO 10 POOREST CITIES IN AMERICA HAVE IN COMMON?

Up until today, I’ve haven’t dogged many cities as shitholes.
I do despise liberal enclaves and their predominant progressive PC, SJW narrative BS.
I too, have the same disgusted disappointment & irritations with the hip hop, uppity,
vehemently anti-white spooks all around us. I’m sick of being blamed for their ills.

But there are other things to consider and focus on, in this defense, of sorts.

Democrats have tried to throw taxpayer money at civic blight and poverty for years, with the typical results. Repubs don’t get A++ across the board either. Most politicians suck.
Throw in 1 or 2 uppity mayors and city councils who are corrupt, with nepotism, and things erode further.
Motown’s past 30 or more years are a case study in that regard, as are others on that list.
Sadly, even at the Federal level, many folks of color have an abysmal record of effectively performing civic duties for the benefit of ALL the residents. Doubtful that will improve.

We all know the free shit army of victim mentality types are not isolated.
And the large older cities are full of them. Same stripe politicians cater to their votes.

Old perceptions die hard.
Statistics usually don’t lie.
Crimes and violence are still a problem causing white flight.
Inner city schools have a poor quality of student performance at acceptable levels.
Negative news headlines grab the most attention. Thugs will be thugs.

The common misconception is there is nothing good or safe about most of the cities on
that list, but you should know in your brain that’s not the complete picture.
None of them are Shangri La, and, statisticians can cite factual data all they want.

Have a sincere discussion with a successful resident who has lived there in the last 3-5 years, with a curious focus on the finer offerings, if interested.
You might be surprised.
Over confident beliefs and opinions sometime cross over into arrogant ignorance.
Personal experience trumps 2nd hand hearsay and negative, flawed perceptions.

If business travelers are obligated to visit for more than a brief airport layover,
the fearful, meek ones with no sense of adventure most likely would stay holed up in a hotel room for the majority of their time spent in a perceived shithole. A sad mistake.

The younger, and / or the more inquisitive types looking to make an experience enjoyable
DO the research, and find safe points of interest, to make their time there surprisingly good.

Outsiders actually book trips there, after discovering the area’s gems worth experiencing.
There are safe ways to do that, even in pairs or small groups.

Worthwhile attractions, typically found online, by talking to experienced friends, or from the visitors bureau and tourist guide publications.
That’s pre-planning and learning new information about a potential destination.

Still, why go there if you have no need or desire?
I figure nobody from TBP plans on booking a vacation to Detroit anytime, & that’s fine.

But the point is, if ya had any interest in researching the current state of things, (doubtful),
there is significant effort and successful improvement by many people that are part of that city, that know the place is not the hell hole and war zone that most people think it is. Likewise, other cities on that list. Each one has plenty of warts. i.e.,
Of course there are still problems, and areas to avoid during the day, let alone late at night.

But to stubbornly close your mind tighter, from a negatively biased perception, is to be willfully blind to definite, amazing things going on you are probably not even aware of.

Detroit has a white Dem. mayor now that’s made great strides in improving things. (Duggan)
It’s a beehive of activities and attractions, and the growth is extending out beyond downtown proper.

Dan Gilbert, and Mike Illitch, …those men have poured millions into Detroit and have invested heavily into it’s growth. Both white. Why would they do that in a supposedly hopeless shithole? Greed? Tax breaks from the city for sports venues?
Maybe. But there are jobs that are created for city residents.
No. They’re giving back. Investing. Trying to make a difference in a place they like.
The ripple effects of that are noticeable.

Black workers & entrepreneurs are doing surprisingly well, too. (yeah, right. who cares)
Not naive to the stereotypes. But, I’d rather they succeed, so they can be self sufficient.
And if TSHTF, the successful ones would probably be far less inclined to commit crimes.

If spending activity is weak, it’s due more to risings costs than dangerous bogeymen.
We see that even on small town Main Street more and more, thanks to the Fed. Pricks.

There are still many neighborhoods with vacant lots, but the positive twist on that is,
the burned out and boarded up houses are being demolished.
Lots of progress there, but not done yet. Blight is an ongoing problem in those ‘hoods.
Prideful residents near the empty lots are establishing and cultivating gardens, supplying a booming downtown restaurant industry that has a ton of high quality places to dine out. So, you are right on that point, MM. That too, is another example of self sufficiency.

Piles of trash seen in the ring ghetto neighborhoods? You bet.
But they’ve caught white suburbanites dumping in the ghetto, too.
Panhandlers, homeless, & drunken bums are around, but you’ll find those across the country.

With all due respect MMinLamesa, you’re sadly mistaken on your last point.
Happens all the time.
Late night walks to grab a meal or a last minute symphony, sporting events, concerts are enjoyed by way more than you think.
Sure, a lot of the traffic is suburbanites going down for a few hours, but they go.
In the warmer months, the riverfront and downtown have people of all stripes walking all over the place, getting along, up to and past midnight, which for the most part is clean, patrolled, and quite safe.

Not so much in the neighborhoods where Angels fear to tread. Understandably.
Those will be ground zero for uprising in the jungle if the race wars commence.

But downtown and it’s surrounding growth areas?
Detroit’s jumping. And also in the suburbs.
Ask someone who has spent considerable time there recently.
It isn’t paradise, but, it isn’t Haiti, either.
If anyone doesn’t want to believe that, fine.
I’d expect better from truth seekers, though.
Informed knowledge is way better than negative stereotypical opinions, or indifference.
We can read about some places, and it might be true, or biased.
To experience some place thoroughly is the more accurate picture.

Of course, all bets are off, and the inner cities are off limits,
if we see signs of the apocalypse and flash mobs running amok.
