Muck’s Minute #50 Future of Mankind Part VI

The Future Part VI

Yet there is no way to ever stuff a genie back into the bottle. Whatever tools humans discover and fabricate, they use. Whatever weapons humans design and are capable of building will be used; be it nuclear, biological, genetic, chemical or anything else..

As an aside, I am all for genetic redesign of humans myself. Imagine a human being modified to live comfortable beneath the oceans. What a wonderful thing to be able to populate and explore that 80% of Earth now out of our reach.

How about humans that are genetically designed to thrive in zero G? They would be the ones to lead the way to the stars. When or if we reach the stars, who is to say that planets circling those suns will be compatible with our native and fragile human physiology? The odds are heavily against it. If we are able to genetically modify human beings, we can then populate those otherwise unlivable planets by literally making humans to match the environment of the world we wish to settle.

Would these genetically modified “people” still be human? Of course they are. They are based on human DNA and because they are designed for the world on which they live they are – surprise – exactly like we are. Our environment designed us so that we are perfect for the world on which we live. All we would be doing is the same thing for them, only faster. What’s wrong with that? (But would they appreciate being modified when they grow up and find US here? Ah! that’s the question!)

I also have no objection to genetically designed trigger drugs that will cause the body to repair specific breakdowns within itself or stem cell generated spare parts that can be developed from cells of our own bodies (or an embryo for that matter) to replace a failing heart, a bad kidney or a liver. Anything to allow me to live longer than my statical five score and seventeen would be welcomed!

I have no objection to custom DNA modified and genetically tweaked embryos to allow parents to pick a brown/blue/green/violet eyed, blond/red/black/brown/straight/curly haired , boy/girl baby that will have an IQ of 200+. Or one genetically enhanced so the child will never require a vaccination or fall prey to any known disease.

Would there be abuses of genetic modification of human embryos? Of course there will. So what?

If society determines that these rogue modifications are a bad thing, then catch those who are doing the bad thing and take their genes away from them. But don’t trash an entirely new and most valuable science to keep out a few bad guys.

Why should anyone object rationally to such developments? All that would happen, if such genetic modifications were done would be the passing of “god” which, in my opinion, is not really a bad thing.

The current political/religious/ethical debate (ethical being another word for religion but currently pushed as some undefinable but separate discussion) is nearly 100% against genetic modification of any sort in order to save current religious beliefs and organizations from collapse.

But the genie is out of the bottle and countries ruled by little minds (and populated by less than rational people) that prohibit the continued research into cloning, stem cells and genetic science are destined to fail in that attempt.

Bad laws drive out good people (California is a current good example of this) and the experimentation and perfection of such techniques will merely go over the border, leaving the prohibiting country at an eventual huge disadvantage and unable to benefit from the great and wonderful things that will come from such research. (Which is where the United States is right now with the notable exception of California and a few other states.)

Yet those countries who prohibit the science are at exactly the same risk from the mistakes, errors and potentially evil uses as are countries who sanction the research.

Cool, huh. Prohibit genetic research and loose an enormous range of benefits while risking the same disasters as if you hadn’t banned it! Sounds like something politicians and preachers are good at.

My thinking on the subject is that it would be far better for us (we are the good guys, you know) to know all we can about genetic modification, DNA manipulation, stem cells and the whole nine yards, thereby being far better prepared to deal with the potential buggers that lurk herein and thereabout.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to the transitional beings inevitably created while perfecting the ultimate specimen.

The big question is, who besides Stucky is going to want to mate with a horse, or who could mate with a tardigrade; which would require a microscopic dick? I joked about Marty Brundlefly before but seriously, if folks already have an intolerance to non-white humans, how will they accommodate mutant species even if partially white like Obama?

The supremely focused Jordan Peterson assured us that lobsters have the same DNA as humans, are we ready to give lobsterman the vote? This smacks of diversity gone wild. Will we stand idly by as lobsterman marries a pure and virginal white maiden to ‘improve’ the genetic makeup of humans and enable man to live under the sea?

I’d like to be genetically modified to do what very many, even here, have advised me to do.

I would like to be modified so that I can actually go fuck myself.

This would bring joy to many, probably even to myself.

How about Ms. Freud?

Stuck, my friend, that is the eternal question. John Kennedy Toole suggested that homosexuals in the military would blow each other; make love not war, and thus end warfare. He never suggested enlisting women in the military. Obviously he saw a problem with women. Women only seem like the answer to a guy’s dream; didn’t Deep Throat promise that, finally, every woman a Lolita giving men that debilitating kiss.

However, unexpected consequences always crop up. Once women understood how important blowjobs are to men, they started demanding shit; a ring, a car, trips to the South Sea. They want you to buy them gifts on Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, Christmas, their birthday, their anniversary. If they are already married, they want you to kill their husband, adopt their kids, buy them a bigger house…And for what? Just because you wanted a lifetime supply of blowjobs but you didn’t want to date another guy.

That Chinese or Indian kid who cut his dick off because his parents wouldn’t let him marry the girl he wanted, inadvertently freed himself of a lifetime of slavery to his dick master. If there was a way to tame the little beast – there’s a reason the movie Alien depicted the neonate zenomorph as a penis – maybe a taser blast to the left nut whenever the dick reared its ugly head in the vicinity of a vagina.

Maybe we need to attach weights to the little bugger to subjugate it like the woman doing vaginal weightlifting. The little monster might only get buffed up and become invincible. It would take two hands to control it and every time you had sex, you’d be liable for assault with a deadly weapon like you were Chuck Norad or Climb von Dame.

Anyway, just a little note to say, I feel your pain. Good thing the snowflakes won’t understand any of this. Anybody that’s got a pair knows what I mean.

How much of everything-there-is-to-be-known about the brain do we actually know? Five percent? Less? What about all the other organs of the body? And even non-organs, like, blood?

What do we really know about how all these things interact with each other?

So, basically, we don’t jack shit (relative to all that needs to be known, but isn’t) about the human body … but we want to allow scientists to fuck around with it??? No thanks!!!!

That’s the fly in the human GMO ointment.

Here’s one more: Time. Let’s say you make just one tiny change along the human DANA strand. What effect will it have on humans is the Big Question. Then the next big question: how much time is needed to figure that out? Weeks, years, or generations? My bet is on generations.

Could very well be this DNA editing is currently underway, if 1,000’s of rational Humans who have had “encounters” are to be believed.

First, we should genetically engineer this shit –

– out of humanity. The other stuff can come later.

Muck,
Not with you at all on this one, buddy.
I think the unintended consequences on this one eat you up.
In the epic battle between good and evil, this would tip the scales to the dark side, in my opinion.
Full disclosure; My Roamin’ Catholic upbringing, including learning the Mass in Latin, may have colored my opinion on this. Fear the Lord!
