Not My President

Guest Post by The Zman

There’s a long debate in Dissident Right circles about the political acumen and the integrity of President Trump. One side looks at all the zig-zagging and flip-flopping on DACA and concludes that Trump is just a liar, who has figured out how to con well-meaning white Boomers. The other side looks at the same issue and sees a strategy intended to move the ball forward on the immigration issue as a whole. His latest antics over the gun issue, however, suggest that is he’s just a stupid bullshitter who got very lucky.

The gun issue has always been the one issue in American politics where you can reveal both the integrity and the intelligence of someone. Gun grabbers are always very stupid or very dishonest. Sometimes they are both. The 2A people are often just reflexively opposed to gun grabbing, without having thought it through, but gun grabbers are never honest or informed. It is the main reason that the NRA has been so successful. They have been blessed with an enemy incapable of honesty and unwilling to learn the facts.

Now, that enemy includes President Trump.

Trump knows even less about the gun issue than he does about marital fidelity, so no one on the 2A side figured he would be our champion. The assumption, to this point, was that he knew enough about politics to just avoid the topic and not get in bed with the gun grabbers. On an issue like guns, doing nothing is usually the best course. Most states are sensible on guns, so letting the states handle it is good for us. Instead, it turns out that Trump is making the classic Republican error of taking advice from his enemies.

It would be one thing if Trump did the DACA rope-a-dope, promising to sign a bill that everyone knows has no chance of becoming reality. His moves on DACA are pure politics and done with an eye on an eventual Supreme Court hearing. This gun grabbing lunacy he is spouting is damaging to the cause of gun owners and it reveals Trump to be a mendacious blockhead, with no idea why he is in the White House. It is no longer possible to argue that his maneuverings are 4-D chess. Trump is simply an unreliable liar.

What’s most offensive to the 2A community about what Trump is doing is that he is legitimizing options our side has worked for generation to de-legitimize. One is the option of using non-democratic methods to get around the people and impose gun control. His determination to ban bump-stocks by fiat is dangerous lunacy on its face. Worse yet, his endorsement of extra-judicial confiscation of gun,s on mental health grounds, elevates a crackpot scheme of the Left to something worthy of public debate.

Put another way, this jackass has undone generations of hard work by the very people who put him in office. Not even that feckless nitwit George Bush did something this egregiously stupid. Even Barak Obama was unwilling to go this far. This idiocy is right up there with Poppy Bush breaking his tax promise in order to get the Democrats in Washington to like him. It worked. They loved him, which was why he was a one term president. Trump is now setting himself up to follow Bush into the void of stupidity.

Now, the counter argument you will hear is that Trump is just playing more 4-D chess and this will amount to nothing. Well, a smart politicians would know enough to not do that with this issue. This is not a parlor game. The pro-gun voter has no sense of humor on this stuff and they have zero tolerance for limp-wristed politicians too afraid of the girls to do the right thing. Speaking only for myself, I’d vote for a gay black Muslim over Trump right now. That’s right. I’d vote for Obama over Trump, just to send the 2A message.

I think everyone who voted for Trump understood they were getting a guy who would be long on bullshit and short of tangible accomplishments. The point of voting for him was to send a message, but also legitimize populist issues. Trump was the guy who would flip over the tables and discredit the status quo, opening the door for ambitious politicians to run on patriotic issues like immigration reform. Trump would build his wall, end some of the egregious immigration abuses, but the real work would be up to those who come next.

So far, Trump is looking like he is not going to deliver anything other than blowing his own horn every day and maybe dodging prison in the Mueller probe. Worse yet, the trade-off for his vanity will be the undermining of the one cause that truly defines what’s left of old stock America. By legitimizing gun-grabbing and executive fiat, he has just made it possible for the next President Obama to DACA the gun issue, by issuing new gun laws via executive order. Trump is proving to be one step forward and ten steps backward.

The one lesson of the Trump era is to not put too much stock in what Trump says. He is, after all, a bullshitter. He’s also a guy who will wheel on a dime if he senses he is on the wrong side. He is rather shameless in that regard. Still, the damage he has done to the cause of gun rights is incalculable and it will not be forgotten. Unless he eventually signs off on some bold pro-gun laws, lots of his voters will choose to spend the election day at the range come 2020, rather than cast a vote for a duplicitous gun grabber.

In spite of enormous headwinds, Trump has done a lot.
To put my foot on the neck of the severe doubters, The Wall is being built (at least partially for now).

“The one lesson of the Trump era is to not put too much stock in what Trump says.”

He has done a lot of what he said he was going to do.

I now chuckle when I read articles like this. Trump has done more for the ‘conservative’ movement in politics than any other modern president, including Ronald Reagan. Yet, we have so call ‘conservatives’ hand-wringing and biting their nails because everything is not being done ideologically perfect. Which is precisely why I identify myself as a small L libertarian now. Truly the political party of the stupid. (I mean that in general terms, not specifically to the author. I generally somewhat mostly agree with Zman.) 🙂

Anonymous Conservative writes that Trump is pro-gun and know what he is doing:

NRA Adds 500,000 Members Since The Parkland Shooting

“And in the midst of this mood, Trump has lured the Democrats into doing this:
Rep. David N. Cicilline (D-RI) and numerous Democrat colleagues in the House are pushing an “assault weapons” ban that would prohibit “high capacity” magazines and 205 different firearms. The Providence Journal reports that Cicilline’s bill, HR 5087, “would prohibit the sale, transfer, production, and importation of semi-automatic rifles and pistols that have a magazine or can accept a magazine that can hold more than 10 bullets, and any ammunition-feeding device that can hold more than 10 bullets.”

Cicilline’s bill describes an “semiautomatic assault weapon” as a firearm with a “detachable magazine” and a “pistol grip,” “forward grip,” “folding stock,” “rocket launcher,” or “threaded barrel.” The list includes pistols made by CZ, Daniel Defense, America Spirit, Heckler and Koch, Centurion, and DPMS, among others. It includes rifles made by Kel-Tec, Springfield Armory, Heckler and Koch, Barrett, Beretta, Stag Arms, Remington, Rock River, Mossberg, Diamond Back, Daniel Defense, Colt, Bushmaster, Armalite, and Norinco, among others.

Cicilline’s bill bans “all AK types” even though the Florida gunman used an AR-15.

That is going to ban a lot more than just 205 types of firearms. The NRA needs this for fundraising, and the threat, done right, can motivate turnout in November too.

It is a little bit of a risk and a cost, because gun owners tend to be triggerable over these things. When Trump is luring the leftists in, and making it look like he supports taking guns without due process, or is open to an assault weapons ban, or he wants to raise the age to purchase, or he says we have to “fight the NRA,” it does trigger an involuntary twitch in my left eye. But the leftists are seeing weakness (and free easy victory), and they are unable to control themselves.

But if the bills crashe in the Senate, especially if Trump can engineer it so the left crashes them in a tissy fit over some extreme position, that gunowner angst will pass, and the conservatives will have plenty of motivation come November to turn out and protect their guns.”

So you’re saying a billionaire who – in his first run for elective office – defeated 17 experienced GOP candidates and then the “inevitable” and “most qualified candidate ever” to win the presidency may not be an dense as his opponents think? Hmmm. I’ll have to give that some consideration.

“He has done a lot of what he said he was going to do.”

That may, or may not, be true. The unavoidable fact is that if he fails on the issue of gun ownership (and it appears he is about as well-educated on the issue as your average gun-grabbing dope) then he fails everyone who voted for his dumb ass.

What is certain and undisputable is that the entire Q hoax is just that, as I and several other clear thinking folk have pointed out. You idiot, cyber LARPING, conspiracy conjuring douchebags have yet to provide an ounce of tangible evidence. Period. End of fucking story. This week’s real news has proven that. I suspect that the Q idiocy will now fade into the sunset as such things always do. However, not without consequence to the morons that perpetuated the nonsense on this forum.
Do you idiots finally get the fact that you have been played?
Likely not.
On to the next conspiracy.

Oh yeah. BTW, North Korea is not run by the CIA, the shootings were done by idiots and not staged by the FBI. There is no fucking cabal or pedophile global conspiracy. It’s time some “copfuk” “red pills” you stupid, fat, computer loving shitbags.

For the record, I am not a Q believer. The evidence I have seen folks provide does not seem conclusive to me.

Are you trying to steal my title of King Shitflinger? I so, it won’t work. I OWN that title after many years of hard work, and my crown I will not relinquish.

You are quite passionately anti-Q. That’s clear to all.

I’m just wondering if you’re raging against Q to convince the Q-followers of the errors of their ways … or, if you just enjoy the sound of your voice howling against the wind.

If it’s the former, you are failing miserably. Your point will never be accepted, or even heard, when you call people shithead, douchebag, diseased donkey dick sucking homos, and other colorful metaphors.

If it’s the latter …. well, that falls under flinging shit, … not that there’s anything wrong with that. BUT … you are not doing it correctly. Shit flinging is much much more than merely calling others naughty words! That’s grade school level stuff. Folks here are smart, so you need to up your game to the college level. Unfortunately, shit flinging is a Fine Art which takes much study. I don’t have the time. Just try harder.

OTOH, you can enroll in my Home Study Course: Shit Flinging For Amateurs. You’ll get a 300 page syllabus, and a 60 minute video CD of me in action; all my copfuk encounters, killing racoons, close encounters with a horse, and many other favorites beloved by the multitudes. We have NOTHING if we do not have due process of law. It is the only purpose for government.

Without it, life returns to being brutish and short.

“Whatsoever therefore is consequent to a time of Warre, where every man is Enemy to every man; the same is consequent to the time, wherein men live without other security, than what their own strength, and their own invention shall furnish them withall. In such condition, there is no place for Industry; because the fruit thereof is uncertain; and consequently no Culture of the Earth; no Navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by Sea; no commodious Building; no Instruments of moving, and removing such things as require much force; no Knowledge of the face of the Earth; no account of Time; no Arts; no Letters; no Society; and which is worst of all, continuall feare, and danger of violent death; And the life of man, solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short.” … Hobbes

A she-bitch went down to Arkansas
straddling a horse named Bill.
She was in a bind, way behind
and she went to Mena to make a deal.
She came upon a guy named Ollie
who was peddling drugs to start a war.
She knew that day she’d found a way
to get herself even more.

She pillaged the country so run boys, run
from the she-bitch claiming she’s not the one.
Caught selling out the country for a wad of money
while Bill was in the courtyard having him a honey.

Donny said, “She-bitch you belong in jail
and that’s where you can plan to end.”
She didn’t know that when it comes to the show
Donny’s the best that’s ever been.

I guess she didn’t know Don’s a fiddle player too.
It would have served her well to ask in hell
Because the Devil always gets his due.

He wants to deal with immigration other than to let more refugees in because they want to come
He doesn’t want refuges from terrorist states
He called a shithole a shithole
He called Schiff the biggest liar in Washington
He signed an executive order that will enable military tribunals and confiscation of assets held by the corrupt
He is familiar with bankruptcy which should do us good when the country can’t pay interest on its debt
Obama grew the debt more than all the previous presidents combined. Trump is adding to it knowing there is no way out. In the meantime he is spending on things that will stand when the shit hits the fan
He has instructed Homeland Security to investigate voter fraud when the states refused to do it
He is instituting tariffs that will prevent dumping that causes our vital industries to shut down (aluminum, steel) and which essentially sends their unemployment to us
And the beat goes on.

Trump may have mis spoke on ‘grabbing guns first, due process later’ or maybe not but the idea was sound. Madmen should no more have guns than people with restraining orders issued against them. It is commonsense and politically vital that Trump be seen to be ‘doing something’ about rampage killers otherwise the midterms will be a wipe out for the GOP.

Just as with a person asking a judge to grant a restraining order to protect them against domestic violence it should be possible for a school district or police chief to go before a judge and ask for a ‘restraining order’ against a person posing a clear threat to the public. It isn’t automatic they will get one. Evidence has to be produced. That might take the form of social media posts, testimony from mental health workers or classmates and teachers. The judge could then issue a temporary restraining order prohibiting a person from possessing firearms or buying them.

Restraining orders are rarely forever. They expire when the situation changes and they can be appealed. I don’t see a problem with this but I see a very big problem with allowing the Jared Loughners, Virginia Tech Koreans and Nikolas Cruz’s being permitted to legally buy firearms despite their known mental health issues. If you are too politically obtuse to understand this then you ought to keep your mouth shut because you aren’t doing your cause any good.

Oh and ‘bump stocks’ are also not a issue to be absolute about. They are clearly an effort to work around the prohibition on owning a automatic weapons. That prohibition maybe constitutionally dubious but it is accepted law just like the equally dubious 14th amendment. If the military has found auto fire to be tactically useless save for belt fed bi-pod stabilized weapons I think pushing to allow private ownership of full auto weapons limited to a 3 round burst makes more sense. Accuracy is preserved and has a legitimate self defense purpose.

Unit472/ …you have rationally explained portions of the background check issue and mental health issue that Trump is stumbling to articulate. The 21 years of age requirement he is pushing is unexplainable. The argument should be 18 year olds should be permitted to buy handguns not raising the age to 21 to purchase long guns. Why can’t national concealed carry be wrapped into the discussion?
If either Trump or the imaginary cabal/deep state have the power and resources that Q ballers alledge, the mid terms should be a slam dunk for one or the other.

Of course it’s better than that megalomaniacal hag and her AIDS infected husband back in the White House. ..but is that the new baseline?

18 year olds can’t buy guns? More massive government hypocrisy!

Because the government will GLADLY put a gun in the hands of an 18 year old, send him to a far away place, and have him kill (or, be killed) people he doesn’t know and who are no threat to him, or to his fellow citizens back home. HooAhh!!

Are you honestly suggesting that allowing any random 18 year old unrestricted access to a firearm is the same thing as sending an 18 year old recruit through 16 weeks of basic training to learn the proper use of one?

Not even you are going to try and equate the two.

The lowering of legal age from 21 to 18 was done in a typical knee-jerk reaction in order to vent some of the steam out of the anti-war movement in 1971. The Left thought they’d vote out Nixon if enough teenagers got the vote never taking into account the fact that very few of them do- an under-representation of 50% of the general population to this day, because they are irresponsible and unreliable unless molded under strict and unrelenting oversight.

A random birth date does not an adult make.

The military has always utilized young males as warriors throughout history for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is their propensity towards physical action over long term planning. There are nearly 10,000 years of martial history to back up this claim. Never in any time, even when lifespans were half of what they are today did anyone believe that a teenager was the political and social equal of a mature adult.

The big difference between legal rights being granted, like voting, debt obligations and military service is the quantity and quality of training and preparation devoted to the desired end and overseen and implemented by mature men with experience and traditions to back up their authority.

This thread has been a very good example of the histrionics displayed by the immature.

Does everyone still possess their firearms? Has any law been signed to remove your 2nd amendment right to keep and bear them?

No. And it certainly won’t happen in the next 7 years.

You know who this was?

Jeez, I said nothing at all about random unrestricted access!

I believe they are calling for no gun sales to 18 year olds, ever. That is my objection and stated via the military example.

Should 18 year olds first receive proper training/certification? Of course. And so should 60 year olds.

Some folks attribute magical qualities, both good and bad, to the number 13. While some may say it is associated with the Satanic, others consider it a lucky number. I have my own suspicion that the number 19 is also empowered. I don’t look for it but I notice when it pops up. Of course, Maggie leans toward the number 23.

Trump has no policies. He will advocate whatever is in his best interest at that particular moment. When the winds shift, he will shift his position and his reality. For example, if 6 months down the road you accuse him of not supporting the 2nd Amendment, he will call you “fake news”. If it’s in his interest to protect your gun rights, he will protect them. But if it’s in his interest to take your guns, then he will take them. I can understand why Trump supporters have buyer’s remorse, but I do not believe anyone is surprised by his behavior. You got played by a master salesman, and you need to face up to that.

Trump was great during his first year, but has started his second by going the opposite direction on critical issues.

Sort of like Justice Roberts suddenly going against what he professed when it came to the Obamacare thing.

So I wonder if maybe Mueller really has found something and it is being used for a purpose other than the indictment and impeachment of Trump as it was being expected to be used.

In any event, barring some radical reversal of his current position, the Republicans have lost my vote this year as I go back to again voting third party only.

The pro-Trump comments are getting a roughly 50-50 vote here … and in other threads.

As are the anti-Trump votes.

If this holds true on a national level ….. Trump might as well kiss his dreams of a 2nd term good-bye.

If things continue as is, I think there is no hope at all for a second term.

You don’t viciously turn on your supporters and the principles they stand for, against the Constitution itself (due process), and against those who value and respect citizenship as a special status not freely given to anyone who claims it without regard to law and maintain your popularity among those who you need to support you if you want to win an election.

Trump won’t be getting a lot of support from those he betrayed if impeachment is brought against him either.

Regardless of whether he is playing 4D chess, or simply playing with the pieces like a 4 year old would, you best enjoy him while he lasts. Because he is going to be the last president who even pretends to placate conservatives. After him it is going to be a steady stream of leftists who capitalize on the hordes of 3rd world voters that they’ve brought in…. that you allowed to be brought in.

After W I swore I’d never vote for another republican ever again. I voted for President Trump because he was the only person running I could vote for; the other repubs were the usual running dogs of the the swamp and the hideous hildabeast shoulda been in a deep dark dungeon with the rest of the clintons, bushs, and the other swamp creatures that pollute Washington.

I’ll still give the president another 4 years because the other choice, whoever is the marxist/commie swine that oozes out of the slime to challenge him, is no choice for any thinking person.

President Trump has done the one thing that the marxist/commie swine will never, ever undo. He has forced them from the cover of calling themselves democrats, liberal, or the most odious term, progressives. They have self-identified themselves as anti-American traitors, marxist/commie swine. In this country we execute traitors.

A popular movie of a few years ago was V for Vendetta. The location was England but in passing, the narrator described the civil war then taking place in America. Just a movie or …

Trump is no doubt currently making some bad comments that go against his election rhetoric, but if the Dems nominate some far left progressive like Sanders, Warren, Booker, etc., Trump should have a good chance of winning a second term. They will make Trump look like a centrist.

Unpredictable is what Trump is. There is no party that he cow tows to, but the things he has put in place tend toward conservative ideals.

To react to each Trumpism, whether it be DACA, the wall or the 2A, is a waste of time. It will only be when the law is ratified and passed that you will ever know what his real intentions were.

This is not where I want to be, with all the wild comments flying everywhere; I would prefer a stable constitutionalist in the office, but that’s not happening. I will say that based on past experience, ignore the hyperbole and the insane tweets and do not go apoplectic like the media is doing; sit back enjoy the show and hold on tight, for it will be a wild ride to the end of the republic, or maybe the beginning of the restored republic.

All I can say is I am not absolutely certain which outcome will triumph, only that I hope it will be the one that will bring tears of anguish and despair to the CNN fake newsies.
