In Part One of this article I laid out the reasons for Gray Champions arising to meet challenges during crisis periods in history. In Part Two of this article I assessed the configuration of Gray Champions throughout the world and the potential impact on the course of this Fourth Turning.

The common people have always been blind to the next turning until after it fully arrives. Even now, the average person has no idea we are in the midst of a crisis period which will change the course of history. The overwhelming majority of the 325 million Americans, and billions around the globe, go about their daily lives oblivious to the intrigues, conspiracies, and treachery playing out at the highest levels of government and in smoky backrooms, where deals are made, wars plotted, and billions dispersed to the oligarchical lords running our world.
The common people get up, go to work, try to earn enough to survive or get ahead in life, raise their children, and endeavor to attain the lifestyle sold to them by their overlords based on delusion and debt. They are easily distracted by technological baubles, watching sporting events, enslaved by government handouts, and told what to believe by their keepers. They don’t want to experience the challenges of winter, but a never ending summer. They don’t want to think and be responsible for their lives. They want to be left in peace on Twitter and Facebook, but that isn’t how it works during a Fourth Turning winter.

There is no telling how the next ten or so years will play out; which alliances prove to be successful or disastrous; whether Trump is compromised by the Deep State or wins this internal struggle; and the outcomes of the fast approaching civil and global wars, which are inevitable given the current state of affairs in the world. The Fourth Turning isn’t a prediction. It’s a period of crisis driven by the generational alignment which happens like clockwork every 80 to 100 years. It predicts nothing. The course of events is up to the individuals driving those events.
Those who attempt to dismiss this generational theory by calling it doom porn or saying it is impossible to predict the future are revealing their fears rather than arguing based on facts or substance. A man who fears the coming trials and tribulations has already lost. Fear works far better than swords in keeping the masses controlled. Take the Russian bogeyman scenario being utilized at the present time to keep the ignorant masses distracted and bemused. Praying for a lone wolf to save the day and restore the world to its summer like condition is irrational and again based upon fear. Winter winds are already blowing at gale force.

It’s fear that appears to be pushing people over the edge. The common people are being manipulated by the “powers that be” though propaganda, mistruths, distractions, iGadgets, hero worship, irrelevant social justice warrior issues, the illusion of political choices, and being lured into debt servitude by the banking cabal and their mega-corporation co-conspirators. They have successfully divided us into angry subsets of lone wolves unwilling or unable to unite and fight the true enemies.
The common people will again do the dying and get the short end of the stick, just as they did during the Civil War, Great Depression and World War II. In order to change the dynamics of this Fourth Turning from one where the lords determine our fate, it would require the majority to open their eyes to see the truth and be led by truly just men to overcome the forces of darkness currently in control. Based on history, this is an unlikely scenario, but still possible.

An extremely important question on which hinges the future course of history, will need to be answered in the near future. Is Trump a moral, just, honorable leader who has the best interests of the American people as his sole priority or will he continue to represent the interests of the vested interests (aka Deep State)? Words are not enough. It’s his deeds by which he will be judged. Is he a wolf in sheep’s clothing, or a noble warrior doing battle with Deep State enemies?
His contradictory and baffling actions over his first fifteen months in office have given hope to many, infuriated others, and confused the majority. Does he have principles or is everything negotiable? His decision making, relationships with foreign adversaries, ability to defeat his domestic enemies, and courage to do what is right whether it is popular, will determine his place in history. Failure could be catastrophic for the nation.
While Trump, Putin, and Jinping play their game of thrones for world dominance, we the people still have to do our part at this crucial time in history. While the vast majority of Americans may not be intellectually capable of independent thought or critical thinking due to decades of dumbing down through the government education gulags and a steady diet of government propaganda, there are a minority of patriotic people who respect the Constitution and will need to man the wall.
We know the existing social order will be demolished by the end of this Fourth Turning and courageous acts will matter, sacrifice required, and defeating enemies from within and without will be compulsory. There will be no glory for common men who make the ultimate sacrifice and die for a better tomorrow for their children and grandchildren. Everyone has the potential to make a difference. Danger is omnipresent.

You don’t have to be a fan of the Game of Thrones or a believer in the Fourth Turning to realize the world is in the midst of a crisis. Denial and willful ignorance will not turn back time to better days. Whether it be a fictional battle for control of the seven kingdoms or a real battle for control of petro-currencies, gas pipelines, natural resources, and military dominance, the humans locked in these battles never change.
Human nature has remained the same throughout history. The shortcomings of men across centuries have remained consistent: greed, power seeking, arrogance, cruelty, immorality, and hubris. Even Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, a man of true courage, knew “the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being”.
The coming storms will bring out the best and the worst in humanity. The nation could be snuffed out or be elevated to new glorious heights. If good wins out over evil the heroic deeds of the winners will become the stuff of myths and legends. If evil wins out over good the final shocking scene in The Planet of the Apes may be our future. The choices we make will matter.

This is the level of division in our country. This is how power will be wielded, and this is the direction we are headed until the inevitable conflict goes hot. What is coming is not something that can be resolved with elections and voting, there are no resolutions or compromises, there is only the inevitable confrontation and the eventual defeat of one or the other. Liberty versus submission, tyranny or freedom in everything we think, say or do.
It’s scary that the US Flag now is viewed as a symbol of hate by the communists “progressives”. But it’s no real surprise given the hate vs. the constitution/bill of rights. The FL anti-flag lady who also demeaned a wounded veteran is the new normal amongst this ilk, most just spew it forth with tweets rather than in person. The only thing perhaps slowing down the confrontation is that the Dems have become so tribalized that they are now constantly fighting amongst themselves for who is the biggest victim. Also things like cultural appropriation which would have previously been a good sign for the old idea of a melting pot, is now an affront to some. It must be hard to constantly be micro-aggressed. But its beyond clear that many in control want to destroy the 1st/2nd ammendment and will do so gradually if needed. 10 bullets for some arbitrary reason is now the state law many places, eventually how about 5? Many laws being put forth are already looking toward criminalizing all semi-autos, so basically 80% of guns in existence. Clearly there is no negotiating with folks like this and they lump us in groups, degrade or call us monsters for not going along with their authoritarian wet dreams.

Words and symbols are useless, it’s their meaning and your actions that matter. Further, the Military and Veterans do not hold an exclusive license to the flag as it symbolizes FAR MORE than our military might and wins/losses column. The flag and this country belong to all, not just the Military, so if an American freely dissents against his government (fed, state or local ex: cops) and their policies and/or actions, it too should represent him since distrust of government and personal freedom are what the flag truly represents. Even if the Qanon stuff turns out NOT to be pipedreams, will it be enough to serve as the full catharsis a 4th Turning has historically portrayed? Likely not, though it might be the catalyst that kicks it off. and may point the direction that the Turning will take. That the US Military is purportedly supporting that endeavor indicates a critical mass for success. But might that not also be corrupted by the ego centricity of a group of Generals?
In any disruption the common man pays the biggest price in aggregate. Sure a John Podesta may lose everything; such a fall would be meteoric, but still just one man. A thousand such men would still be nothing in the sea of hundreds of millions of Americans.

It is temporary! That is the clue. Here is not our home. Heaven is, and it is hard, not easy at all, to get there. Yes, there is a hell. As portent filled as your writing and thinking is, it isn’t the bottom line. The only thing I am personally interested in is, the bottom line. Prayer is Absolutely Necessary. Any doubters on that, investigate the proofs of the many many miracles of the RCC, with non Catholics vetting them, and a REAL devil’s advocate to try to strike them down, in the case of canonization of saints. Youtube has videos of the Miracle of the Sun, which took place practically within our own time in 1917. Seems to me the system that is the beacon of freedom – that enumerated in the Constitution – may be coming to an end. The rights set out in the Bill and the Constitution have been steadily eroded and usurped. The govt leviathan has steadily chewed away at the rights of the individual. Govt power stems from the masses blindly allowing themselves to be lead to ever less freedom.
And so I am coming to believe the mighty Constitution may fall. Which leaves me in dismay. But what I fear most of all is I see nothing of value that can replace it. There will be no grand plan. A terrible void will be created, and the people may well fall into a terrible abyss that most do not even know exists. They have seen false prosperity, and have developed a sense of entitlement such that they know not what darkness may come if liberty and freedom are lost.

What can I say. It is a gift. In comparison, I have been told I can make Eeyore seem absolutely cheerful and upbeat.
Unfortunately, I think I am right in this assessment, and it saddens me to no end.
As a born-again Christian, I believe what you say will happen but that believers will be caught up in the Rapture and will not be here to witness it. Whether you believe the same or not, I don’t know but there is hope for those in Christ. It’s not called the blessed hope for nothing. In fact, it seems logical that when the Rapture happens, things will take a downward spiral of catastrophic proportions because the Spirit of God upon the earth (in His people) will be withdrawn and evil will no longer be restrained to some degree as it is now. That will be the time you will not wish to be living on this planet. I see the next ten years or so as time to make darn sure one has established a believing relationship with Jesus Christ and know without a shadow of a doubt where one will spend eternity as well as where one will be once the Rapture takes place. You do not want to be left behind. No idea how many of you commenters on this site are believers in Christ but I hope a good many of you are. To those of you who are not, I urge you to consider what I’ve said and to make sure you think carefully about coming to know Jesus as Savior.
The only thing that gives me any shred of hope is the ever-growing number of firearms and users in the USA. The Left makes it seem like whacko’s are the only ones who own firearms, when every democrat in my area is packing (legal) heat. CCW and training classes are up.

America is unique in that we have a Constitution. It is a symbol that I believe there are enough people to fight for it, and what it stands for.
Dutch – perhaps you are right. But looking around, how many people understand what the Constitution does? How many people understand that its main principle is to protect the individual from the masses? That it was intended to protect individual freedom from the ability of the voting masses to strip those freedoms away?
Look around. Are people screaming and protesting about ills done to individuals? Nope. They are wanting more done to protect the “rights” of the group, and to hell with the rights of the individual.
Sure, Americans “say” they believe in the Constitution. But they do not know what it says. Seventy percent of Americans cannot name the three branches of government. How many have any idea what the Constitution is about? Look at the support for socialism by the young – about half think it is a great idea. Look at the people willing to strip money from one person and redistribute it to another. How can anything be more antithetical to the Constitution than that? The founders would be rolling in their graves. They knew that was a wrong.
So, given that few indeed have a clue as to what the Constitution says, and a great proportion have their livelihoods dependent on it not being interpretted as designed, how many will really fight for it? The opposing sides will likely each say that they are fighting for the Constitution, as most citizens will have no clue as to the fact of the matter.
The Constitution is about protecting and guaranteeing individual freedom from the whims and wants of the masses. And the masses of today are far more interested in their own self-interests, and could not care less about the rights of an individual.
I despair that the Constitution will be entirely lost. So much has already been quietly stripped away, that I fear the rest may go quite quickly when the Fourth Turning bites deep.,
Cursive writing is not being taught anymore in elementary schools. In time, the next generations will not be able to read the original founding documents–only transcriptions of them (U.S. Constitution, Articles of Confederation, Bill of Rights, etc.).

Or look-say replacing phonics? One may recall Slick Willy marveling how all children should be able to read by the end of fourth grade! At the Catholic grade school my grandkids attend, they have to know their colors, the alphabet, count to 100 and read Run Spot Run type stuff before they can move from preschool to kindergarten. They all read at about a second grade or higher level in kindergarten. This includes minorities from less than awesome backgrounds.
We have to pay for it but we pay less than half what the government indoctrination center spends for no results.

Until ten years ago I was a functioning alcoholic. I went to work every day and drank away my problems every night. Then the crash of ’08 and there went the 401k, from riches to rags. I didn’t lose the house, just the retirement/booze money. I wanted to know “WHY” so I decided I didn’t care for myself to much and started pulling on the old boot straps. When you wear 15EEE that is a bunch of pulling. I bought my first computer at age 48, had a 21 year old apprentice show me how to turn it on and she signed me up for FB and the rest just happened. It took the first 2 years to start to realize what was happening not just to me but all over this world. Got rid of FB and have continued to this day on a very steep learning curve. I had the luck of an upbringing that taught responsibility and respect I found that I had just lost my way and needed those roots and have found them. I am doing all I can to prepare for the future but here is the rub, I WAS A LOT HAPPIER WHEN DRUNK AND UNAWARE. Reality may suck but at least I will walk into the future with eyes wide open. The death of the US Constitution and the Republic is not the end of the world. We humans have been in that same condition for most of recorded history. Franklin, Jefferson and Washington didn’t start out with a Constitution either, and they turned out OK.
Long term and large scale we humans stand at one of the most promising times in human history — with the tiny caveat that we do not blow up the whole planet. We have technology that never existed in the past. Most importantly, we have digital information technology. Seriously, the idea of a society based on individual rights and limited government is so good that it WILL win out in the end. And now, those ideas are loose in the world. There are children studying in Cambodia, in Zimbabwe, in Nebraska, in Italy, all over the world who have free access to those ideas. There are people reading Thomas Paine in India and thinking, “that makes a lot of sense!” The seeds are being planted right now. I am not saying that things will be rosy everywhere and instantly. I expect the US especially to have some very difficult years ahead — but long term, large scale? We are making tremendous progress toward a better world. My grandkids may get very skinny in the next decade or two, but I expect them to be adults and raise their families in a much better world.
Do not despair. Despair may not be a sin, but it ought to. Onward and upward.

I thank the author for this well written and thoughtful series of articles, I will chew on these for a long time. I wish I could refute what you said but can not as I agree, while the ultimate outcome is unknowable, we are in for a rough ride. I was especially impressed that you didn’t end your essay by predicting or overtly prejudging the key players, this is difficult to not do; also, I am thankful you offered us a warning against fear. I wanted to wait until the last to see if I had two pennies to rub together, we shall see.
There are parallels with the past which seem obvious, the fall of the Roman Empire, 1860, 1929, 1933 all come to mind; it would be prudent if the communists and globalists were to also consider the Reign of Terror. The coming conflict may well be partially global in nature but it is my hope that a repeat of WWII will not be in the making, the Big Three you mentioned may not be the nicest people but I don’t believe they are insane. Many of the problems we face in America seem to be also present in Europe and it is possible they will have their own cross to bear; for they, too, are facing globalism vs. nationalism, unsustainable debt and uncontrolled immigration or invasion if you prefer.
Your ideas of the Gray Champions is most interesting and prompts some questions for which I have no answers. Do we get what we need and not what we want? Will the GC pursue strength or compassion; will they be polarizing or unifying; will they value their vision above all else; will they promote destiny above comfort; will they prove their inherent “goodness” by relenting power once the crisis is resolved? The divide in America has become irreparable and the two warring factions are no longer able to co-exist peacefully. There are the communists vs. the Patriots, the takers vs. the producers, the Christians vs. the atheists, the law abiders vs. the lawless, the minorities vs. the whites and all are rapidly becoming incapable of living with their opposites. The politicians are for sale to the highest bidders and give no regard to their constituents nor the laws and Constitution they swear to uphold. The largest companies are little more than robber barons who value profit above life, liberty and the nation which has made them wealthy.
In the past years, the prepper movement has become peripherally popular and is good from a point of common sense but in the advent of a long term collapse, for most, it will be little more than prolonging the inevitable. Most people have no idea what is coming and are joyfully unaware; they don’t have a clue, don’t want a clue and view you as crazy if you try to inform them of the coming storm. Much of our population is at least partially, if not fully dependent upon the government for their keeping and can’t take care of themselves in the best of conditions. Perhaps, what is coming will weed the garden, I just don’t know; however, what can’t continue must end.
Other than a wholesale returning to the ways of the Lord and or spirituality, I can’t see how to resolve the epidemic of immorality and its subsequent evils. Unless there is a magic solution I don’t know about, our national debt can never be repaid; if my math is correct, at a $1000 per minute, it would take 10,000 years to pay off what we already owe. We have many problems to resolve and with God’s Grace and a united courage we may yet come out on the other side better for it but things will get much worse before they get better.
We do need to fix this moral decadence.
The tides of history now head toward civil strife or an external war to unite us. People tend not to take action until they are hungry though, and improving technology is slowing this Fourth Turning/winter season, so it’s hard to know what will happen.
My hope is there will be a wake-up in global consciousness. Our greatest challenge is overcoming our thinking that what worked in the past will work in the future. The world created after World War II does not make sense with cryptocurrencies, greater people movements, internet, increases in senses of social justice, international trade, global identity, and wealth disparity, just to name a few.
According to generational theory, we need to shift culture to emphasize what is good for the group, not what is good for the individual. It’s the polar extreme of individualism that creates the winter periods, rap culture, and a dysfunctional society. Trump as president, known for being loyal only to his own personal self-interest, is the ultimate sign of this.
Let’s shift our praise and attention from celebrities, athletes, and billionaires to civil servants and moral state builders and hard workers.

Kids have been brought up watching PBS and Nickelodeon for example, being indoctrinated for diversity and anti-moral ideas. Music, particularly rap, urban, and pop, but many others are included, have consistently heard lyric of violence, sex, hate and abuse.
Commercial advertisements through every media type has focused on feminizing boys, sexualizing girls, and has frequently been anti-Christian. TV shows do the same while glorifying gay life styles, inferring that whites are racist, and minorities are victims of whites. They also instill the notion of disobedience to parents and other authority
Video games are typically very violent with rampant killing and some even get bonus points for murdering bystanders that are encountered.
Public schools, or as Admin puts it, “the government education gulags” with their ‘No Child Left Behind’ and ‘Common Core’ programs are just another one of the social engineering plans to subvert the nation’s youth. All these programs do is keep the people from thinking critically or thinking for themselves. No original thoughts allowed.
The biggest problem is that schools teach what is good for the group is best, not for the individual. The constitution is designed for the people, but it is really about individual rights, so the thought of shifting the culture to emphasize what is good for the group has already been done. That IS the problem!
Truepath, I must respectively disagree with most of what you said; technology isn’t slowing anything, it is merely a diversion for most so the necessity of accepting reality has yet to sink in. I fail to see an external enemy or civil strife uniting America; our current conflict is among ourselves and it remains to be seen how it will eventually resolve itself.
To say what worked in the past will not work in the future is implying we can know the future and that what is happening now is successful which I seriously doubt. Your assertions for a global consciousness and to promote what is best for the good is idealistic at best; people are not ants and will never be. When people act as individuals for the own best interests in a responsible fashion, societies tend to function best and prosper the most.
Social consciousness and wealth disparity are not new commodities but both are ones which have been hijacked for reasons other than the supposed original intent of fixing problems. It has been said that every movement starts with a just cause, after one generation the movement becomes a business and after another generation the movement becomes a racket. Having the wealthy and poor isn’t as bothersome to me as the eroding middle class.
Several years ago, I trained my new boss on a job; I told her learn the old system and its ways before you implement changes, in this way, you will be more aware of why you are making changes. I believe we all need to study history and have much to learn. Even though, I think your comments were sincere, it is best to try to insure ourselves that we aren’t speaking with borrowed words and don’t know their meaning.

What worked in the past absolutely will work into the future. What fails is the idea that govts can take care of people. It cannot.
What works is, was, and always will be the way forward: individual responsibilty, hard work, family, education, thrift.
What does not work is the idea that the govt can become the provider of universal services and sustenance for the group. That was never meant to be its role. And any attempt to make it so has failed miserably. And the failure this time shall be spectacular indeed. Taking one person’s produce and giving it to another by force is theft. And it will end badly.

Well said, Mike, but the societal divisions are not actually as stark as you portray. There are racial groups who are also Christian. There are urban dwellers who don’t want to be mere consumers of others’ labor. Etc.
In the coming storm, I expect that most urban centers will be cordoned off, and will cannibalize themselves, sociologically & economically, if not literally. The weakest will be prey first, then the stronger will contend for dominance. But once the foodstuffs and fresh water are exhausted, the grim reality will assert.
They will try to break out and plunder, but the suburbs and exurbs will resist violently with a great price paid on both sides.
Ultimately, the center holds via attrition by force of arms, but at a far lower level of population and apparent wealth. The technological capability will still exist, but won’t be utilized any longer for frivolity, but to be more productive, to share wisdom, and hopefully spirituality.
I likely won’t survive the storm, due to age and infirmity, but hopefully the kids and grandkids will be able to learn and prosper in the areas of life that are truly important.
Curtmilr, You are right, any large demographic will contain every kind of person you can shake a stick at, from the best of the best to the worst of the worst. In my personal life, I try to judge people as individuals and use their actions as a basis to form my opinions but this is only half the equation because what they think of me also enters into it.
I am not smart enough to know what is coming and can barely understand what I see. What I see is a divided nation filled with hatred and even though many of these divisions may have been promoted, this doesn’t take away from their effectiveness. Should things take a turn for the worse, it is possible people will further splinter into their respective groups for protection. If we begin to lose loved ones, I am afraid we may no longer be willing to make arbitrary distinctions such as a good white or bad and will instead seek revenge which may become blind to the character of the individual.
If I put aside the divisions we face, if I discount all the urban legend circulating now and if I disregard all of the rampant criminal activities of those in power, I am still left with the stark fact that our financial system is unsustainable. Should our fiat system collapse and the debt bomb explode, we may be faced with the dangerous situation in which people can’t eat. As had been said, civilization is always 9 meals away from anarchy.
I have been a Merchant of Doom for quite some time so allow me to jump the Shark and bring a little cheer to those who will live through the change. Assuming of course that a depressing NWO machine does not survive.
1. We will rediscover spriritual living and become attuned to the weather.
2. Women will rediscover their need for a male protector because she cannot bear and raise children and guard the perimeter at the same time.
3. Women will be allowed to do what they love and need the most. Being full time mothers and wives and feeling feminine without being shamed for it. They will rediscover the power that comes from making a man feel 12 tall and 12 inches long.
4. Men will rediscover the dignity and respect of being a Warrior and the adrenaline rush that comes from being at war.
5. Men will rediscover the meaning of being King of the castle and the pride of fatherhood and the price they must pay for that privilege.
6. They will rediscover the fun of being melted like butter by their wives honey sweet voice and thinking they are 12 feet tall and 12 inches long.
7. Kids will be allowed to venture beyond the crib and play without being dressed like a Hockey Goalie and herded around by a squad of man hating Dykes.
8. In the absence of refrigeration Pets will discover that they are just a store of fresh protein.
9. The entire family will be OK with that.

Woman will have one in the oven, one on her tit, one hanging on her skirt, and three that are stairsteps in age running around the house and setting the curtains on fire because dad is off fighting some war and she hasn’t seen him since winter. Her hair which used to be lovely is up in a bun and strings are hanging everywhere because she didn’t have time to fix it since yesterday or something like that she can’t really remember the last time she combed it. Yup. Distilled spirits are the easiest way to make alcohol. Easier than Beer, Easier than Wine and takes less equipment than either. I don’t mean just alcohol but even decent tasting stuff if you ferment sugars naturally from grains, potatoes, apples or whatever rather than taking the short cut of just adding sugar and age it. You can’t get sick from it (other than from drinking too much) and you don’t have to protect the mash from oxygen since it aids fermentation or the finished product since it doesn’t oxidize.

The theory of turnings is interesting and I expect it has a lot of validity. But something has changed. In the 19th century 20 years was a good estimation for a generation. But in the second half of the 20th century that started to expand. Today, based on smaller families and later dates of first birth, ~27 years is more appropriate. That moves the fourth turning “crisis” date to 2045 or so.
Still, we live in interesting times.

I believe you missread The Fourth Turning about the Champion. As you look back on the Champions you will find they shared many traits. They gathered around them people who were intelligent and experts in their fields. They were honest. They were progressive in their actions. The end of winter usually appeared on their watch…except for FDR who missed by less than a year but whose policys were carried forward under Truman., for the most part. I don’t think Trump fits the descriptions.
