A NATION BUILT ON LIES

“The greatest want of the world is the want of men — men who will not be bought or sold; men who in their inmost souls are true and honest; men who do not fear to call sin by its right name; men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole; men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.”Ellen G. White

The world becomes more chaotic by the day. Good luck finding a politician, business icon, or religious leader who is not bought and sold by corporate or special interests. Finding truth telling honest leaders in today’s world is virtually impossible. Charles Foster Kane, a quasi-biographical portrayal of William Randolph Hearst, is a fine representation of the billionaire clique that pull the strings in our warped, deceitful, greed driven, materialistic world.

Citizen Kane’s thematic portrayal of the American Dream is far more germane to our society today than it was when made in 1941. Financial affluence, material luxury, wielding power over others, and controlling the opinions of the masses through propaganda media, did not guarantee happiness or fulfillment for Kane or todays oligarchs. Kane was happiest as a poor child, living with his parents, playing in the snow on his sled – Rosebud.

Life is a tragedy, with the richest and poorest dead in the end. The only thing that really matters is your character and integrity. The societal hollowness created by those pushing the delusion of a materialistic American Dream based on an ever growing pyramid of debt has left a society morally deadened, psychologically damaged, living lives based on deception, and willfully ignorant of the truth.

Until individuals in this country choose to tell the truth and insist on being told the truth by the leaders they choose, chaos and ultimate collapse will be our destiny. Our economy, our currency system, our banking system, our political system, our mass media, and our public education system are built upon nothing but deception, lies, misinformation and falsity. The entire fetid cesspool of lies cannot withstand the glare of truth, as explained by Ron Paul:

The daily dose of deception doled out by the despicable Deep State denizens of decadence, debt and debauchery is depressing to critical thinking truth seekers. I’ve made it my mission in life to only follow rational thinking, honest, straightforward, fact based people who have not been bought off by a party seeking to cheat, mislead, or steal from average Americans. The number of politicians who meet this criteria can be counted on one hand.

Very few corporate executives at S&P 500 sized companies meet this standard of honesty. The criteria for reaching the corner office is insatiable greed, backstabbing, lying, and a sociopathic personality. Despite the Wall Street/Fed rigged financial systems and fake news propaganda spewing mainstream corporate media, there are still independent, non-corrupt, truth tellers as the lone voices of reason in this empire of lies.

These authentic purveyors of reality, based on facts and evidence, are scorned and ridiculed by CNBC spokesmodels and highly compensated intellectual but idiot talking heads. When a nine year Fed engineered bull market in everything is sold as proof of economic recovery, propagated by media mouthpieces, and substantiated by government agencies producing fake economic data, then a populace begging to be misled, because they can’t handle the truth, turns off anyone telling them the truth.

I sense disillusionment among many of the financial analysts who have correctly assessed the present-day insanity and expect a reckoning for the ages when this debt bubble blows like a super-volcano. Facts and reality are meaningless when the madness of crowds, built on delusions of debt, and a financial system engineered by banker psychopaths, keeps the bubble growing to heights not thought possible by rational thinking people.

Many of these truth telling realists are in the business of selling newsletters, books, mutual fund investments, or other financial products. That does not automatically make their analysis suspect. Everyone has to make a living. What separates shills from honorable men is their use of facts, historical data, and rational thought to make their case. Deciphering the bullshit narratives spewed by the majority of faux journalists employed by the corporate fake news media versus straightforward non-slanted analysis from the reality grounded men is crucial to retaining integrity in a deceitful corrupt world.

I continue to respect the writings and analysis of Taleb, Shiller, Hussman, Mauldin, Jesse, Kreiger, Rosenberg, Bonner, Casey, Martenson, Kunstler, Schiff and lately Jordan Peterson, among many others. As the “everything bubble”, inflated by the Fed and their central banker brethren across the globe, has grown to epic proportions these men have endured heaps of scorn and ridicule from the small minded non-thinking momentum cowboys who arrogantly confuse easy money with their own financial brilliance. I continue to have the utmost respect for their ability to ignore the lure of following the crowd and sticking to the facts. It’s not easy stating the truth when 95% of so called financial journalists are bought off and captured by the Deep State.

The Wall Street cabal puppeteers have had their Federal Reserve puppets dancing to their tune for the last nine years as bailouts, QE, and free money for feckless financiers has propelled their latest bubble to epic proportions. The bubbles in the stock market, bond market and real estate market are all built upon a vaporous foundation of easy money debt. It took 219 years for the country to accumulate a $9.6 trillion national debt, but our fearless leaders have managed to add $11.6 trillion since September 2008, all geared to enrich Wall Street, the military industrial complex, the sick-care complex and mega-corporations, while leaving Main Street to fend for ourselves with stagnant wages and rising costs for necessities. With government, corporate and consumer debt levels at all-time highs, a financial collapse is inevitable. Hundreds of billions of student loan, auto loan, mortgage loans, and credit card debt are unpayable, especially in a rising rate environment.

As the chart above factually details, the “everything bubble” has put the previous two bubbles to shame. The thing about bubbles is they always pop. An unsustainable dynamic will not be sustained. The reversion to the mean will leave millions of delusional Americans destitute, dependent on the government, enraged, and looking for someone to blame other than themselves. Go to any 4th of July picnic and your average neighbor or relative will tell you how much their 401k and house value have soared as they have been convinced the economy is booming and on a sound footing.

They won’t tell you their credit card balance, mortgage balance, auto loan debt, or student loan debt obligations. The value of their stocks and real estate can plummet by 50% in a matter of months (as they did in 2001 and 2008), but the debt will remain, wrapped around their throats, choking them to death. They have willfully chosen to be ignorant of why asset values have soared and ignored the warnings of truth telling analysts. Human nature never changes, and people never learn from the past, even when they’ve been clubbed over the head with 50% losses twice in the last seventeen years.

I keep pondering whether this “everything bubble” is just another mass hysteria event like many before throughout history (Tulips, Roaring 20’s, Dot.com), or something deeper and more disturbing. I’m reaching the conclusion it is more than mass hysteria. It’s mental illness infecting a wide swath of the population. Normality in financial markets, government deficit spending, journalism and central bank interventions began to dissipate drastically at the turn of the century and accelerated rapidly after 9/11. Annual deficits have averaged over $900 billion since 9/11, versus $175 billion per year in the eight years prior to 9/11. We have been living in profoundly abnormal times, but few question the abnormality. They have been led to believe this is normal.

Arguing annual deficits of a trillion dollars, zero interest rates for eight years, a Federal Reserve colluding with Wall Street banks and the U.S. Treasury to manipulate stock markets, and a corporate media spewing misinformation, fake news, and propaganda is a normal state of affairs is an example of the Big Lie theory. Making these arguments is a false declaration of such outrageous magnitude, employed by the powers that be, as a propaganda measure in the belief that a lesser falsehood would not be considered credible by the masses.

The Big Lie has worked thus far, as government controlled education has dumbed down the masses, people are told what to think by the media propaganda machines, and individuals have chosen to be distracted by igadgets, social media, and modern day bread and circuses. Huxley thought mental illness of the populace was rampant in 1958. He’d be outraged by the level of willfully ignorant, abnormally normal people living in our profoundly sick society today.

“The real hopeless victims of mental illness are to be found among those who appear to be most normal. “Many of them are normal because they are so well adjusted to our mode of existence, because their human voice has been silenced so early in their lives, that they do not even struggle or suffer or develop symptoms as the neurotic does.” They are normal not in what may be called the absolute sense of the word; they are normal only in relation to a profoundly abnormal society. Their perfect adjustment to that abnormal society is a measure of their mental sickness. These millions of abnormally normal people, living without fuss in a society to which, if they were fully human beings, they ought not to be adjusted.”Aldous Huxley, Brave New World Revisited

Who is to blame for the current state of affairs? The Deep State? Shadowy oligarchs? Politicians? The Jews? The Russians? There is one commonality – human beings are the members of each group. Humans have created the problems plaguing the world. Humans choose to act in a good or evil manner. Humans decide whether to lie or tell the truth. Humans decide whether to be driven by greed, power seeking, selfishness and hubris or generosity, citizenship, sacrifice and humility. The truth is humans commit unspeakable atrocities, steal, cheat, kill and destroy. They are also capable of generosity, self- sacrifice, acting with integrity, and behaving courageously. As Solzhenitsyn realized while imprisoned by the Soviets, good and evil passes through all human hearts.

“Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either — but right through every human heart — and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. And even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained. And even in the best of all hearts, there remains … an un-uprooted small corner of evil.

Since then I have come to understand the truth of all the religions of the world: They struggle with the evil inside a human being (inside every human being). It is impossible to expel evil from the world in its entirety, but it is possible to constrict it within each person.”Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago 1918-1956

Today’s level of violence, mass murder and evil have not approached the monstrous deeds of Hitler, Stalin and Mao within the last century – Yet. Anyone who dismisses the he possibility of bloodshed on a grand scale within our borders and the likelihood of a global “winner take all” war is ignorant of human nature, history, and the dynamics driving the course of events during this Fourth Turning. The seeds of evil are planted within each human soul and under the right (or wrong) conditions, can blossom into a full-blown landscape of hate, violence, cruelty, inhumanity and retribution.

Cooperation, peace, and mutually beneficial deeds have not been the default setting for human interaction throughout history. They are the exception, not the rule. But, the mass of humanity is willfully ignorant of history and naively believe their benevolent leaders and media thought police when fear is used to keep them under control. As Jordan Peterson points out, once people wake up to the realization of their potential for evil, they can resist being led to slaughter by their Deep State controllers.

Image result for evil versus good

“When once-naïve people recognize in themselves the seeds of evil and monstrosity and see themselves as dangerous (at least potentially) their fear decreases. They develop more self-respect. Then, perhaps, they begin to resist oppression. They see that they have the ability to withstand, because they are terrible too. They see they can and must stand up, because they begin to understand how genuinely monstrous they will become, otherwise, feeding on their resentment, transforming it into the most destructive of wishes. To say it again: There is very little difference between the capacity for mayhem and destruction, integrated, and strength of character. This is one of the most difficult lessons of life.”Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos

In Part 2 of this article I will delve deeper into Peterson’s assertion we need to tell the truth in order to change ourselves and change the world.

Damn, pulling out Ellen G. White. That is some serious stuff. No joking here, she is one of, if not the most, prolific female writer in history. She almost single handedly started the 7th Day Adventist church and her dietary knowledge is most prophetic.

She is held in high esteem in the 7th Day Adventist church.

Daniel

None the less she had it wrong in so many other ways. But then that is the point of the article isn’t it?

She was a false prophet and plagiarized so much. Suggest you read The White Lie written by one of the ministers whose conscience could tolerate the church’s cover-up no longer. The Bible warns against those who claim God told them thus and so and it does not come to pass, you know they are false. Big money is involved here, you know.

Gerold

Stucky, thanks for the great quote by Nietzsche. That’s why he is so despised; because he speaks the most uncomfortable truths and why he is often deliberately mistranslated in order to discredit his message.

Nietzsche’s so-called “Superman” is nothing of the sort. His Übermensch is really just a master, not the master of a slave, but of himself.

“That which does not kill me makes me stronger” is also a mistranslation. Nietzsche uses the word ‘umbringt’ to mean overcome, not kill, murder or destroy. We are rarely faced with murder, but daily we can refuse to allow something or someone to overcome us and, in doing so, it makes us stronger.

PlatoPlubius

@Gerold
Ubermensch also means the “overman” as you mentioned to “overcome” life’s valleys and rise to its mountaintops…no easy task with the level of attrition that comes with living an aware, conscientious and loving style life…
This is really the meat and potatoes of existential thought…
Being cognizant of the absurdity of the irreconcilable, the infinite and the finite,

Sisyphus doomed to an existence of rolling the rock up the hill, to watch it tumble back to the base of the hill, knowing it awaits for us to roll back up the hill tomorrow.

Some are more resilient than others but ALL have thresholds that when met can really throw us for a loop.

Peace and Yahweh bless.

Uncola

That was excellent, Jim. A quote for the ages right here:

Facts and reality are meaningless when the madness of crowds, built on delusions of debt, and a financial system engineered by banker psychopaths, keeps the bubble growing to heights not thought possible by rational thinking people.

Every day, my inner Sherlock Holmes battles with my inner Professor Moriarty and I must constantly acknowledge how my anger simultaneously keeps me both warm and cold. Therefore, in order to see all my problems, I had to get a full length mirror.

I was also both comforted, and cautioned, by what Brandon Smith wrote at the close of his most recent article entitled: “The Meaning Of Good And Evil In Perilous Times” . He said:

In the end, the worst men bring the best men to the surface. This is the only “good” they will ever do.

I, for one, am glad to be counted among your company; even if only across a digital divide.

Great piece and I look forward to your second installment.

And don’t forget HISTORY …. those who write about it, film it (like History Channel and many documentaries), and those who teach it in our schools and universities. It is arguable that these people are the Biggest Liars of them all.

Let me try to rectify this problem. To all the fucken libtard history teachers and professors out there ….

Thanks for posting that terrific graphic! I just saved it.

Imagine a world in which the South had won the war. None of the following wars would have happened:

* Spanish-American War
* World War II
* Cold War
* Korean War
* Vietnam War
* Every Mideast war since 1948

Nations that never would have existed include the USSR, Third Reich, Yugoslavia, Red China, Israel and the divided Germany, Korea & Vietnam.

The only trade-off: the end of slavery in North America would have been delayed by 10-20 years. I’m certain the >100,000,000 people killed in the wars listed above and in the mass slaughters of Stalin, Mao & Pol Pot would have gladly accepted that deal.

Oh yes, one final detail — once slavery ended, blacks would have been repatriated ASAP. Lincoln would have seen to it in the USA, and whoever was president of the CSA at the time would have as well. Jefferson’s warning that the two races, equally free, could not co-exist under the same government would have been heeded on both sides of the new border.

Sorry to hog the comments. Last post on this topic.

To add add to Admin’s wonderful quote above … Ms Freud and I had a little cookout yesterday for ourselves and our landlord. We talked some politics. Helga lived in Germany during WWII. So, we’re talking about the Mooslimfuk problem there …. and I’m ranting and raving about her jackass sister who has no problem with Merkel and her insane stance on opening up Germany to Mooslimfuks, and how can it be that Germans who stood up to the power of Rome and also took on virtually the whole world in two world wars … how in the hell have they turned into such damned pussies??!!!!

She let me rant and rave, and then quietly and solemnly summarized her belief in just 6 words; — “Because they have enough to eat.”

Call me a dumb simpleton, but I think that’s a profound observation. And I believe this is also ONE of the reasons The Big Lie still works in America. We have plenty to eat and lots of entertainment. Take that away, and there won’t be enough lies to contain the fury of those who have been lied to.

Germany has been brainwashed. I visited less than two years ago and realized that the people born shortly before the war and since have been taught that the germans were evil. The white germans hate themselves to a point of having no standards of decency with regards how they subject themselves to africans. It started after ww1 when the French stationed their colonial troops in germany and after ww2 with the black American G.I.s. Now they have fanta advertisements of a german white girl felating a black man with an orgasm of fanta.

Galapagos is a novel set 1 million years into the future where the entire human race has died out except for the decedents of a few survivors stranded on the Galapagos Islands. The have (de-?)evolved to swim in the ocean, eat fish, sun themselves on the beach and really enjoy fart jokes. This is what Herr Vonnegut found most worth saving about our species.

Here is the description of the present from that future point of view:

“There is another human defect which the Law of Natural Selection has yet to remedy: When people of today have full bellies, they are exactly like their ancestors of a million years ago: very slow to acknowledge any awful troubles they may be in. […]

This was a particularly tragic flaw a million years ago, since the people who were best informed about the state of the planet […] and rich and powerful enough to slow down all the waste and destruction going on, were by definition well fed.

So everything was always just fine as far as they were concerned.

For all the computers and measuring instruments and news gatherers and evaluators and memory banks and libraries and experts on this and that at their disposal, their deaf and blind bellies remained the final judges of how urgent this or that problem, such as the destruction of North America’s and Europe’s forests by acid rain, say, might really be.

And here was the sort of advice a full belly gave and still gives […]: “Be patient. Smile. Be confident. Everything will turn out for the best somehow.”

Another exceptional piece and I say this without reservation, you are one of the most cogent and clear-headed observers of the present reality I have ever read, bar none. I know you have a deep respect and admiration for the writers you cited at the top of this piece, but none of them hold a candle to your sober and plain spoken analyses.

“Anyone who dismisses the he possibility of bloodshed on a grand scale within our borders and the likelihood of a global “winner take all” war is ignorant of human nature, history, and the dynamics driving the course of events during this Fourth Turning. The seeds of evil are planted within each human soul and under the right (or wrong) conditions, can blossom into a full-blown landscape of hate, violence, cruelty, inhumanity and retribution.”

That is the crux of our position in two sentences and I could not be more firmly in agreement.

“Cooperation, peace, and mutually beneficial deeds have not been the default setting for human interaction throughout history. They are the exception, not the rule.”

And here I must take issue with you. These ARE the default settings for human interaction and have been from the beginning. If you were to take all the human hours lived and looked at the cooperative, peaceful and mutually beneficial interactions and then did the same for confrontations, violence and warfare there would be no comparison. The scale is overwhelmingly weighted on the side of good. If it were not so we would have long ago hunted ourselves out of existence, but for some reason whatever force of creation shaped our species, it was benevolent enough in it’s intent to give us this gift; that we are closer to brothers than we are to enemies.

Can’t wait for part 2.

HF, I hardly ever have a kind word to say to admin regarding his writing. Mostly cause it’s been done more eloquently by writers such as you. One thing I noted before, I have been spoiled by admin’s writing and now when I read ax-grinding columnists, I notice a lot of hidden agendas, slurs, half-truths, shading, outright lies and so on. The thing about admin is that he states his argument and proves it with facts and figures rather than bamboozling the reader with inflammatory trigger words.

Terrific writing…maybe your strongest prose ever.

I couldn’t agree more with the good farmer. The vast majority of people, the vast majority of the time can and do live in peace, if not necessarily total harmony, with each other. The reason is simple beyond belief: it is both easiest and most beneficial to all NOT to initiate violence, and if not initiated it cannot be perpetuated. The issue is and always has been the tiny percentage of the population who MUST dominate others, who MUST accumulate power. These individuals ALWAYS end up with that power, or at least people with power ALWAYS end up wishing to dominate (I really couldn’t say which comes first).

The problem with the masses is, ironically, the same thing that would keep the peace without the State mucking things up: most people take the easy path. Without the State, this encourages freedom of association, free markets and in turn peace. When an institution with seemingly infinite power and endless resources comes along with a whole bunch of promises of ease, the masses can’t sign up quickly enough. Taleb had a wonderful quote: “The worst addictions are 1) Heroin, 2) Carbohydrates and 3) A steady paycheck.” I like quotes like this that change how most people perceive basic ideas like addiction. However, in this case, Taleb misses the most damaging addiction of all, really the ROOT of all addiction: EASE. We all crave it naturally, we all want the shortcut…but the hardest lesson to learn in life is that we are only fulfilled and only strengthened (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually) by doing things that are difficult…doing that which is most contrary to our natures. (as an aside, I think this is the strongest proof of God (or a Higher Purpose to life and the Universe, if you prefer) that I have ever found.

I also eagerly await part II.

Ever see “Its a Wonderful Life?”. This is Pottersville. FDR was a shill. Germany just needed to get rid of debts and it was prospering while Americans were standing in soup lines. Even Al Capone was popular when people were starving. That alone should tell you what’s gonna happen.
There is no “Go along to Get along”. Not anymore. Money isn’t really important. Whether gold or paper, its a question of whether the system rewards effort or sloth. There is NO DIFFERENCE between Rich and Poor. They get along famously. The American Idle. Those who do not work for a living. As above, so below. Two kinds of parasites eating the Middle of the productive class, leaving nothing to the future.
Utopia means “place that doesn’t exist”. Only the dreamers and the insane ever see it. Dream another dream, this scheme is over.
Altruism is a ridiculous pose and never a rational policy. Men will never work for nothing, and that’s why slavery wasn’t rational. There will always be another Spartacus. The Rich are too lazy to hold that whip for long over their slaves. Nero burned Rome, not because of Christians, who were merely an excuse, but because he and the patricians NO LONGER FELT PART of the plebeians. After the fires, he built a pleasure palace with an indoor park where naked women pretended to be nymphs and orgies went on constantly. Large fortunes are toxic. They just don’t displace the plebeians, they make the elite into a corrupted whore-mongering class of lotus eaters.
Happiness is just a fleeting feeling. Pleasure is just a thrill ride. Neither are goals or rational views for life. There is no real “meaning” to life. You have Free Will to make your own choices. If you have no meaning, you are missing the point. Life is getting what you want. How you play the game is morality, Will and opportunity. Opportunity cost is never fair. Never take opportunity away from the productive. Never give opportunity to the stupid or criminal.
Politics is about the possible. Not everyone is wise. Give everyone a vote, and you’ll be ruled by the Lowest Common Denominator. That’s always too low to EVER BE GOOD.

Doomy, I think you mean ‘Erewhon’. Your German history is a shambles. The reason Hitler came into power was because they were screwed just like the US. “with the richest and poorest dead in the end”

Maybe for now but they are trying to cheat death, too.

David Pearce, a leading proponent of transhumanism and co-founder of Humanity+, says:

“If we want to live in paradise, we will have to engineer it ourselves. If we want eternal life, then we’ll need to rewrite our bug-ridden genetic code and become god-like … only hi-tech solutions can ever eradicate suffering from the world. Compassion alone is not enough.”

So which is it?

Thanks for a very fine article. It’s an ongoing struggle trying to make sense of things. I’m pretty sure that by the time it all comes into focus for me, it probably won’t matter. But it’s important to try. A recent insight for me has been how relevant Austrian economic thought is to things that you wouldn’t normally think of; i.e. economics is at work in more than just the buying and selling of goods.

At its most fundamental level, economics is about scarcity. Period. There’s no market for air, for example, except for where it is scarce (high elevations, underwater, etc.) For things that are harder to get your hands on, a free market based on sound money is the only mechanism capable of allocating resources efficiently. This is done in large part through free market pricing, where the relative values of various goods and services are constantly being derived and modified depending on wants, needs, preferences, circumstances and all those other things that a Central Committee, such as the Fed, can’t possibly be aware of. I’ve heard that Soviet diplomats were assigned to keep tabs on Western prices so that the apparatchiks back home would have some kind of idea how many pairs of boots it should take to buy a tv.

As America’s economy becomes more and more distorted as we get further and further from a true market economy, prices reflect value less and less. Is Facebook really worth $565 billion? The way things are now, sure, why not. The big reset we’re all expecting is going to be the result of prices finally and inexorably reflecting the true values of goods and services.

Everybody reading this site already gets all this. My “insight”, such as it is, is that the things discussed in this article, such as honesty, integrity, competence, generosity, et al, are just as subject to market forces as the price of canned beets. It’s not universal, yet, but I’m appalled at the total incompetence and who-gives-a-shit attitude I see at so many places lately. Retail clerks with safety pins in their eyelids that can’t count change. Places like Sears, Radio Shack, and on and on being openly skimmed by the people running them are constantly in the news. All the stupidity that Admin talks about just looked like pure chaos until it hit me that we’ve lost our ability to appreciate value.

When the economy is awash in $trillions of FRNs, scarcity appears to have disappeared or at least diminished. We all used to know that good men are as rare and valuable as Ellen White said, and that it mattered to try to find them. Now, it apparently doesn’t matter. Should I hire the serious guy with the necktie and briefcase full of references or the funny guy with piercings that smells like pot? Who cares?

I know I’m not being as clear as I’d like to be, but the takeaway is that I believe the premise of this article can be at least partly explained by people just not seeing any value in “truth”. And, judging by who gets ahead in this country vs. who has to hide out in an embassy or who has to ask Russia for asylum, it’s not hard to see why that is. But, like the economy, when the reset happens the truth will matter. I’m not sure what the consequences of that are, but it has to be an improvement.

Yep, I see this everywhere. Especially in the things that really matter.

I dread the day I would get so familiar with the Admin that I would call him Quinny. Most of the time I refer to him as Admin.

Skinny, it cannot so it will not. Maybe some interest, though. What we’re headed straight for is a good old fashioned JUBILEE!

Wip
Wip

Yep, jubilee it has to be. One way or another. Is it possible we are going through a jubilee right now? Sounds crazy maybe but is inflating debt away a sort of jubilee? Does that even make sense?

If there is a debt Jubilee be careful what strings come with It!

I’m just going to react to the title of this essay. “A nation built on lies” could apply only to a nation that has no natural foundation. Nobody would ever say that China, Japan, France or Iran were nations built on lies. Each of them are ancient lands with a nucleus of a population that has lived there for millenia, through good leaders and bad, times of prosperity and times of famine, as the nucleus of a vast empire and as defeated and occupied land. Throughout all of these things, their national identity remained.

America is different. America has no natural foundation. It is a land of invaders and immigrants, some invited, most not who made a place for themselves here. Initially the culture was a hillbilly version of british but that changed after the revolution and the language followed. Later it became an idea. The idea was never coherent but at the core were an emphasis on the local over the national, on the community over the collective. It hasnt been that way for a very long time but nobody cared because it became wealthy and powerful, yet retained enough of republican institutions and values that the wealth spread to the lower classes. Later that wealth was enhanced by war and the spoils of it. Americans could still feel good as the locus of a vast empire because it shared the wealth with defeated foes as well and opened the doors to their products.

This of course could never last. At the end of the second world war, the US, unbombed and intact, comprised 50% of the GNP of the entire planet. For the next 20 years, it experienced unprecedented prosperity as it’s wealth spread to other countries who in turn purchased the products of American labor and capital. Eventually it was overtaken by its own hubris and by foreign interests but Americans didnt care as long as the prosperity appeared to continue. Lurking underneath this facade was a different reality…that a common culture, which never really existed outside of commercialism, was dying, under assault by some, abandoned for various reasons by others…. This is turning into an essay in itself rather than a comment, so imina stop here for now. Peace 🙂

DL.

Love the alliteration at the beginning. Thanks, Mr. Quinn.

Admin, Another outstanding essay. I wish that I could express my thoughts to written word half as well. We do live in a world devoid of truth or sanity. Sometimes I get extremely agitated by it. It’s hard to remind myself of the serenity prayer, “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.” I do get wound up about the insanity that I read and hear that is beyond my control.

What you said about who is to blame for the mess and the commonality of all the folks we point our fingers at all being humans, was profound. We are all to blame. Some more than others but none of us get a pass. I agree with Scrabble that on balance there is probably more good in the hearts of men than there is bad, though it does seem a toss up at times. I also agree with The Lesion of Merit on the path to take to find our way out of the mess. Beyond our ability to defend our opinions in the war of ideas, all that we really have control over is the choices we make about how to live our lives. Those choices can have a profound impact, economically and otherwise. Standing by our principles and maintaining our integrity in the face of unscrupulous curruption will I think in the end win the day. Stooping to the level of the lowest common denominator just because that has been working for the other guys Is a road that I think will lead us to ruin. Thanks again for the wonderful essay, and thank you also for the blog where I can come and throw in my two cents, for whatever their worth. I can’t wait to read part 2.

NICE comments.

I recommend a documentary by Tom Shaddyac, the guy who directed the Ace Ventura movies and Bruce Almighty…
It’s called I AM

He ends the documentary with the story of
G.K. Chesterton’s response to The Times’ request to write an essay on the topic of “What’s wrong with the world?”:
His response:
“Dear Sirs, I am. Sincerely yours”.

Very insightful article Admin. I agree with your take on human nature. What amazes me is all the paths evil can take. I don’t know what the future holds for our country but I do think there are still enough good people around to offset what appears to be a very bad outcome.

I really think we are at the peak of humanism. Faith in the human intellect that many people seem to worship is going to be the downfall of those that have thrown GOD out of their lives. My study of science has convinced me that the higher intelligence of GOD really exists and my conscious faith in this intelligence can see me through the dark days ahead. As for those that worship human intelligence and will and continue to sleep; they are going to experience the full measure of their willful ignorance of the truth, in the suffering they will experience that can only be described in Dante’s infernal. Their conscious descent into materialism has damned them in a way they may not be able to recover from.

Looking forward to reading part two.

Thank you so much, Jim, for a wonderful and informative article. When I trained with Xerox in sales during the 1970s they emphasised HAGS (they love acronyms!):
“A successful salesperson must display: Honesty, Authenticity, Genuineness, and Sincerity”

I have never forgotten it and try to apply it always in my everyday life although I do admit to failing on a regular basis, at least I am aware of my shortcomings. My counselling training in the 1990s also reinforced these behaviours.

Looking forward to your Part 2

Admin – I have been trying to get my mind around everything for a while now. There is so much wrong, it becomes hard to know where to start. The issues you cover above are indeed a good start. And I thank you.

The thing that has been troubling me most recently is the mass stupidity of the people. The current socialist candidate from NY is exhibit A. How can it be possible that she has not been tarred and feathered? How is it possible that masses of people are proposing open national borders? How is that not clearly evident to them that that is national suicide? How have people become so bereft of a survival instinct?

I understand that a great many people are dumb as rocks. But I do not understand how peole with reasonable IQs do not immediately see what is at stake culturally. We all know an economic reckoning is coming. The debt will be wiped away one way or another, and it will be a painful experience. But from the ashes the Phoenix can rise again, if the culture remains intact.

But the culture is crumbling. And I despair that it will survive. Even the “normals” have lost touch. They have lost the ability to fend. They are oft obese, oft ill educated, poorly skilled, and oft have an ingrained sense of entitlement. They have good hearts, but that and a fifty cents will not buy a coffee. Good hearts is not enough. They need grit, and ability, and fortitude, and an aggressive streak if needed.

My old man was a piece of work. He had so many flaws it is impossible to recount them all. But he was a survivor. He was capable in a pinch. He could claw food and shelter out of nothing if it came to it. He could persevere. He could adapt. He was independent. And he was hell on wheels if screwed with. He was not one to turn the other cheek. Hell, it was impossible to slap him on one cheek, much less both.

Where are those types these days? Are they still out there? If things get bad enough, and they well might, we will need those types by the tens of millions. Where will they come from? I do not see it. I fear the independent, the free, the liberty minded, the capable are near enough gone.

I cannot get my head around it all. There is too much wrong, and there seem to be far too few bull-necked men, and women, to carry us through if it turns to shit.

Thanks again.

I get bogged down in the same line of thinking all the time; There are just too many fucking problems. Any solutions have to be holistic in nature and the only way that can happen is to get to the very root of everything: it is the People that must be fixed. And the only way to do that is to persevere through great suffering. Such has it ever been.

The heartening thing to me is that humanity has found ways to survive for a very, very long time through great calamities. I am confident it will continue to do so.

Uncola

@ Llpoh & Drud,

Your comments hit at the heart of the issue for me as well: Logic and math.

Last night I free-associated about three-quarters of my “pessimism piece” and so far, it’s just a self-indulgent mess. If I can’t piece it together better today, I may table it for now.

Great piece. At the end, all that you have is your character, integrity, (and soul), the core values and essence of a human life. Evil, corrupt, greedy men founded the Fed in 1913, and then detached currency from gold in 1971. Those two events, largely led to unrestrained money printing via an explosion in debt growth, unrestrained government growth, and created the bubble mental state and detachment from reality most US consumers suffer from. As a baby boomer, I didn’t first notice the debt cycle exploding until the early 90’s, when suddenly everyone was driving a new model car. It all then started to dawn on me.

As a guy who has lived below his means and sacrificed, what a horrible feeling to learn the truth about their lies and the implicit “put option on the economic cycle” the powers that be have implemented and gotten away with to date.

We know who they are, and they are all complicit and culpable in the commitment of high crimes against the people of this country and the rest of the world through imperial conquest and subjugation. Millions of innocent people have died worldwide, and many more to come before its over.

Now back to your regulatory scheduled MSM programming.

I follow many of those names you mentioned as well (Hussman, Bonner, etc.). My long standing question is how can so many smart people been so wrong for so long about the financial markets? Let’s for a minute make this grand assumption that the system is just working fine the way it’s been in the past 9 years, what’s the grand thing missed by all these brilliant minds such that the system has not imploded as they thought it should have?

@Llpoh: Our time is done. Our influence is only left. This current generation has much to learn and catch up. I am afraid many will not make it. But perhaps some who have taken in our influence will carry on. So are the contingent conditions of our lives. One fact that is sure and constant in the universe is that “change” is the constant. What comes up before us as future is of our own making. Pass on to the next life not worrying about this one. We have our set time to experience this one. It is not our will but thy Will that moves us on in this world and the next. When we finally submit to make our will; Thy WILL, then is when our will becomes truly free.

Llpoh

Tbird – thanks for the response. I am afraid you are right. I have tried to pass a bit of ferocity down to my kids in event of hard times, but I am afraid a bit is lost in each subsequent generation removed from bad times.

My old man was a child of the Dust Bowl, and was tempered in that hell. I was tempered by his hard hand. My kids were largely buffered from it, save from lessons I was obliged to pass along. And they generally did not truly understand but bowed to my will re work ethic, education, family, etc., which to date is serving them well. But I doubt they will temper their children in such flame. The world will do it for them, I fear.

Thanks for taking time to respond. I appreciate it.

The daily dose of deception doled out by the despicable Deep State denizens of decadence, debt and debauchery is depressing . . .

Dang, that wins the “Alliteration of the Year Award” hands down! Only V has ever done it better.

Regarding the Solzhenitsyn quote, the classic sci-fi film Forbidden Planet made the same point. As the skipper said to Morbius, “We’re all part monster in our subconscious. That’s why we have laws and religion.” The former steps in when the latter fails to control the “monster from the id” inside all of us.
