1kg tomatoes = 5,000,000 bolivars (0.76 USD)
1 toilet roll = 2,600,000 Bs. (0.40 USD)
1 kg meat = 9,500,000 Bs. (1.45 USD)

Or they could feed their family well with a Bolivar Silver Coin
Think about that. Better a year early, than a minute late. Just sayin’
A 2.4 kg chicken is pictured next to 14,600,000 bolivars, its price and the equivalent of 2.22 USD, at a mini-market in Caracas
What’s weird is that the spot price for a silver Boliver (.1342 oz) right now is VEF3,668,170.00. But then the net says the exchange rate for VEF to USD = .1 currently (unless outdated)- which would make the silver Boliver coin in Venezuela $300 Grand? That can’t be right? Or could it? Either way, I’d still rather have the silver coin than paper. No doubt.
So what you are saying is that it is cheaper to wipe your ass with tomatoes.
Me, I think I would just use the worthless paper money for that. But whatever.
Socialism. Sure. Ok.
It’s much more than that, more pervasive than that, tho. It’s an example, out of millions of examples, of color of law.
Laws aren’t inventions. They are discoveries.
What rulers invent are rules “for” the ruled.
“Venezuela moved to shore up its crumbling economy on Monday, devaluing its currency and preparing to raise the minimum wage by more than 3,000% in what the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro, declared a visionary bid to tame rampant hyperinflation.”
Invention, just like what preceded it.
Politicians, government & state people everywhere, not only in Venezuela, are not discoverers. They are conquerors. Pirates. Parasites. Criminals.
And they are vastly outnumbered by the people who follow their leads. Lead-follow is a collaboration, &, regularly, a suicide pact. Uncle Sam, Maduro, & Jim Jones are all the same sort. So are their followers.
Maduro-crook broadcast his inventions live on facebook, last night, the article says.

Socialism in one movie. Don’t let the rough film and subtitles discourage you from watching every last minute of it. Plenty of tits and ass, although none of them make it out alive.

I stayed up way past my bedtime last night watching “The Chekist”. I couldn’t turn away. Disturbing on many levels, the worst of which is the realization that it could happen again at close range. A cautionary tale for sure.
Thanks winmag.
Lemme get this straight – beef is sixty cents a pound and all of the women are skinny. I’m moving to Venezuela.
Women in Venezuela will put a knife in your back for $0.60 USD.
The people in Venezuela still believe that socialism is good. They think that it was just not implemented right. Twenty years down the road they will do it again. Argentina goes through this every few years. Free shit paid for by other peoples money has great attraction. Life is hard and harder when your’re stupid.
We call the Americans who believe that our government printing over a trillion dollars per year for Welfare will not result in the same thing within a couple years: Democrats; of course, most Republican politicians are also voting for those profligate budgets but they will also be invited to the necktie party after the Venezuela like dollar crash.
The Republicans spend it on corporate welfare, usually the MIC.
That underwire corset is what denial-enables the pot-kettle fashion that never goes out of fashion to look in the mirror, not see itself, & like what it sees.
All that is bringing a knife to a bear fight.
