Once again the negative and destructive influence of the Federally-guaranteed student loan program.

When you go in to get a loan from a bank, you generally have to put up collateral (or pay HUGE interest rates). The bank not only assesses the quality of your collateral, but also your ability to repay. For a home, they send out an assessor to confirm that the home is worth what you are paying for it, and generally they check out your job/income, etc., work history, and the like (in the absence of current government/Federal reserve encouragements for sub-prime lending).

Imagine if the collateral you were putting up was your employment prospects, and future earning potential. The degree you were going to get and the likelihood of stable employment with decent salary prospects, would be the most important criteria for the bank to evaluate, along with the college or university providing your education. Not only would the amount you would be lent, but also the interest rate, would depend on the outcome of their evaluation.

How much do you think a bank would be willing to lend, and at what percent, for a gender studies degree versus one for say engineering, pre-med, or countless other productive and employable degrees? And what sort of limits might they set on the amount of the loan?

And in that sort of environment, what would colleges and universities be FORCED by the market to do? Of course they would have to beef up the quality of their education, work to lower costs, and eliminate degree programs that nobody could get loans for.

But we of course suffer under the “benevolence” of the Federal Reserve, the SJW government, and a screwed up market in education from K-Degree. “You want fries with that?”

Actually a degree in gender studies is not the bleakest career path you could choose. You’ll be joining an industry (Professional White-Hating Racism) that is worth tens of billions of dollars per year, if not more, and has hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of full and part-time employees. Many in the industry have become millionaires. Many more lead cushy, upper-middle class lives in secure sinecures. So if you hustle and are really vociferous with the hate you can do quite well on this job. And that’s the American Dream.
