Senator Ted Cruz, a supporter of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, was verbally assaulted by a group of protesters at a DC restaurant Monday night while trying to dine with his wife, as seen in a video posted by twitter account Smash Racism DC.
The protesters, chanting “we believe survivors,” blocked Cruz’s wife from exiting the restaurant at one point, prompting the Texas Senator to ask them to “let my wife through.”
In another clip, a woman claiming to be a survivor of sexual assault approached Cruz and his wife accompanied by her backup chanters, asking to discuss Brett Kavanaugh, “I know that you’re very close friends with Mr. Kavanaugh. Do you believe survivors sir? We believe survivors. Senator, I have a right to know what your position is on Brett Kavanaugh. I’m a survivor of sexual assault. There are now three people that have come forward and said that Brett Kavanaugh attacked them. Have you talked to him about that?”
Smash Racism says that they were unpaid, and that “most of us would do this for free any night of the week if we could.”

The only thing better for Cruz would’ve been if it were a bunch of drag queens throwing him out. The Kavanaugh spectacle this week should focus the minds of non-crazy Texans. Would they want Beta O’Rourke sobbing that he believes all women all the time and halting Kavanaugh? If Cruz can resist his impulse to go full thespian (you never wanna go full thespian), he should leave O’Rourke in his dust.

I agree with another poster on here that if the Republican Senators fail to use their majority to put Judge Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court then there will be a Republican slaughter come November.
This is seriously not about Kavanaugh at all, nor is it abortion, nor women’s rights. This is the constant attack of the value of being a citizen, to dishearten those who still dream we have any rights. I don’t understand why the protesters are let into the hearings, to begin with. Why not just those related to those testifying? Especially on Thursday. Everyone else should be shut out. They should also have the capitol building closed off to those that are not relatives or media.
Some of the public should be allowed in, but I agree with you. Anyone found to loudly disrupt the process should not only be arrested, but ineligible for release. Mandatory 1 year in jail, with limited, basic provisions for human survival while incarcerated.
A year in jail / loss of freedom risk might dissuade these people from their activism. Screw them.

As I’ve watched them over the past ten years I’ve been secretly pleased in the direction of their actions and behavior. You know, if the so called protesters, some or all of whom are probably paid, had any brains at all they would be civil in their protest because Ted might have paid attention and it would have looked bad if he didn’t at least listen for a minute. Instead they act like a pack of hyenas and this pisses everyone off even if they don’t like Ted. Same with Kavanaugh who would have been my last choice of all the original contenders. Now they get the sympathies of the people on the right including those who never wanted to support them in the first place.
