It’s Funny ‘Cause it’s True

Guest Post by Hardscrabble Farmer

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/16/us/politics/npc-twitter-ban.html

Twitter accounts using fictional personas and a common avatar to promote the idea that liberals can’t think on their own.

The first encounter I ever had with the PC movement was back in the early 90’s. I was, at that time, a stand up comic headlining a comedy club in Madison, Wisconsin and during my set I was doing a bit about men and women arguing. In the middle of the my act a table of college girls began to hiss at me- actual hissing sounds like you’d see in some Little Rascals sketch when someone demonstrates disapproval of a performer.

I remember stopping and asking them what it was that they were doing, drawing attention not only to their rude behavior in stopping a show that an entire audience had paid money to enjoy, but the manner in which they’d chosen to do it. “Are you guys actually hissing?” I asked and then mocked them by imitating it. Then I made their interruption into a bit of it’s own, I don’t remember what I said but it was pretty scathing and the audience went nuts, laughing the entire time.

When you’ve played enough dives and hell gigs you get to be very good at dealing with hecklers and as with most things women are not very effective when competing with a man, even less so when someone has thousands of hours of stage experience under their belt. They made a big deal of leaving with much complaining the entire time and the audience laughed and applauded them right out the door.

Their complaint back then was something that has become boilerplate these days- it is wrong to point out human differences and to make jokes about them is beyond the pale. Their reaction proved my point and when I turned up the rhetorical blitz by mocking them with the audience’s approval, it drove them apoplectic.

I hate that we have to walk on eggs shells all the time, that people are not only prohibited from speaking freely, but self-censor in their own minds ideas, words, phrases and other means of explaining the world we inhabit by humorless capos of the regime. I sense that the veil is beginning to lift, albeit slowly and tentatively, but that it is gives reassurance that liberty is not completely dead.

The NPC meme works effectively because it strikes at the root of the problem, that most people who espouse the PC Ideology have not arrived at their position through critical examination of ideas and a deep understanding of history, but through ignorance, conformity and a complete absence of humor in their empty lives.

I quit comedy for a variety of reasons, most of them personal, but one of the factors that weighed heavily was just how difficult it was becoming to say what I thought was funny without having to be managed and cautioned by club owners, booking agents and mouthy hecklers who didn’t know the difference between comedy and a houseplant. The funniest material isn’t based on what’s shocking or foul, but what resonates with people as a shared human experience, something true. And the truth is not in them.

I DO NOT walk on eggshells excepting around customers, and that ends when I get to know em.

I have watched the npc/the OK hand sign ect. if not born on the 4 chan certainly brought up to speed with spread requests/orders to hit msm with it,and, sure enough, within a month the OK hand sign was a white supremacist signal and the npc meme driving the msm and lib sites nuts. They were also responsible for most part of bringing Pepe the frog and his many versions to the fore front.`

This is culture/psych warfare and a huge plus in the fight against well, insanity.

The folks on the chans are insane, but,in a positive for most part and excellent way.

Getting folks to think even a little without threats/violence ect. is the best way to win if it works.

“…Just remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else…”

I actually heard a woman say that with a straight face. It was right around the time you were doing your own comedy thirty plus years ago. At first I thought she was being sarcastic and I laughed (she didn’t like that), but no. She meant it.

She obviously not only didn’t listen to her own words, she didn’t even realize that to normal people it was actually funny.

I get a kick out of people saying really stupid things and thinking themselves a genius…

Hey Steve! “…Just remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else…”

I prefer Xavier Renegade Angel’s version: “Like most folks, I’ve always been different, but not like the others.”

Our TI berated us for not conforming, “You think you’re different, same as everybody else!” Along with the traditional proverb, “Opinions are like assholes, everybody’s got one and they all stink.”

My brother was a funny guy. He could make me bust a gut laughing. He started doing a few amateur nights in the Vancouver area and was doing ok. He was great at imitations and had a personality and demeanor on stage that set people at ease and made them like him. Then he started getting liberal and he quit. It’s hard to be funny when you are self-censoring all the time. It was a real shame. He squashed his own talent.

Reminds me of an old sci-fi story, could have been Heinlein, robot on moon has a job but no tools. It develops a battery powered laser and quickly demolishes a pile of rock. Human supervisor is alarmed, instructs robot to destroy the tool and forget everything about it.

This is the greatest meme ever. Easy to take a magic marker to any picture and good for Halloween.

It’s kryptonite. Because at some level the offended is conflicted. The hardware was bred in by natural solution and can’t be changed. Wisdom is experience of that eternal truth that John Steinbeck hit in East of Eden.

I am a big fan of the meme, pointedly irreverent. There have been some great non playable characters in games past. Gamergate will mark the SJW toehold going forward.
Originally, NPC was born of the imagination of Gary Gygax and his magnum opus, Dungeons and Dragons, as Non Player Character.

I read the NY Times article and it was surprisingly balanced until I got the the one he used as an example of false election rhetoric where the #gunban crap was included. The problem is that it is true that they want to ban guns, they just don’t want to let us talk about it.

The recent Project Veritas about Claire McKaskill proved that it is true because she and her supporters said it was true and also admitted that they cannot talk about it because she is trying to pass herself off as middle ground.

The left will fight dirty using any means necessary. We tried to take the high road and they continued to sink lower and lower. Now we are fighting them using their rules and they are squealing like stuck pigs. It is hilarious to watch them tearing their hair out.

I love it.

Most PC verbiage is a regurgitation of rote phrases that were not arrived at through independent thought, they are echolaic incantations used in response to verbal triggers.

Time to trot out the Voltaire quote.
God is a comedian playing to an audience that is too afraid to laugh.

Which brings me to this quote:
Verbal: Keaton always said, “I don’t believe in God, but I’m afraid of him.” Well I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is Keyser Soze.

Key point here is that this inflexible programming is epidemic and affects pretty much everyone to some degree; one’s political perspective provides zero immunity to NPC reactions.
One might find that the third position, one of neutrality and equanimity is a sane and peaceful place to reside. To achieve this, understanding each extreme position is essential; this requires effort, research and an open mind.
NPC is another way of expressing that humans are very prone to becoming entrenched in cult thinking (look up attributes).
Every political position is a cult, subject to irrational cherished dogmatic beLIEfs. Cult mind thinking is so prevalent that cult is the root word of culture; yes, even our culture is a cult. We are all NPC’s within the context of our culture.

And that is a fair conclusion, but not all belief systems are death cults that make it their objective to erase the very culture which gave them suck.

I not sure what hateful death cult you are criticizing: “yours” , “theirs”? It always comes to this in cult mind programming; us vrs them; with saving the world from Armageddon the goal. Look it up. Climate change is a perfect example. All extreme positions suck.
This is what unites the left & right – The USA is a war/death cult; founded with war and at war at home and abroad for the entire history of the country (give or take a couple years). Both of your political parties embrace this philosophy – “saving the world” by military force – USa vrs “them”. Creating one big dysfunctional family.
Now you are turning on the other half of yourself and heading for civil war again. What a surprise! For you; But not for anyone observing from outside of the cult.

I think all belief systems are, in some way or other, “death cults”. They either embrace death, or claim to defy it, but are, generally speaking, in some way obsessed by it.

The NPC meme is deadly because it strikes at the truth…most people sleepwalk through life, with little or no consciousness or free will, and almost all white leftists do so…If they have to question whether they are really individuals, the cognitive dissidence drives them crazy…More please!

Greetings,
I believe this is endemic to everything. Take Roman Catholics for example. How can it be that over 80% of Roman Catholics have not read the Bible – any part of it? How can that be? These Catholics certainly have opinions as to a myriad of things but 100% of those musings were put in their head by someone else.

An equal number of millennials do not know under what form of government we operate. I’m not sure it has anything to do with being an NPC and much more to do with laziness. 8 out of 10 people want to be told what to do because they are too lazy to try to figure it out for themselves and an equal number wish to be told how to think and what to believe. These people DO know how to shop and they jump on whatever path seems most convenient at that moment.

You can most certainly use this to your advantage. When dealing with this kind of person, present them with a simple path that requires no work or investigation and they will hand you their money.

As I think back on the days when comedy was a true art, I used to wonder what it was that made for real comedy. What made things funny? It dawned on me, and I think it was Jack Benny who really made me aware, that comedy was a reflection in the mirror. Comedy arose from our ability to look with humor on our idiosyncrasies. It was our willingness to look into ourselves and not take parts or our lives too seriously. If we lose that ability, and willingness, to look in a mirror with a sense of benign criticism, then we will have lost the meaning of what truly makes us each unique.

I have only 15 followers on my twatter account. I have had it for a while and this week decided to start building a following. Started week with 3…

Today three of them got suspended. I am likely treading thin ice as well. All of them were using the NPC meme… soooo I being a shit monkey doubled down and sent Jack a twatter expressing my displeasure at what happened to a few of my newly loyal followers.

At this rate it is gonna take forever to build a twatter account worth getting suspended over…

I closed my twitter account two years ago when I closed my facebook account.

Yesterday I picked up my 13 year old grandson, well he will be 14 in less than 3 months. It is really hard to talk to him, he has never been a talker. We were talking about school and social media and such. He thinks social media is “stupid”. His mom doesn’t monitor his online activities very well, but he says the only account he has is Instagram and he doesn’t use it very much. But he is a dedicated gamer and that is a whole different community.

Anyway, he made a comment, paraphrasing “Third wave feminism is stupid. They want to be supreme over men” or something like that. I was driving.

I laughed and asked where he was getting this from and he said Dr Shaym on youtube. I asked if he had seen Louder With Crowder. He said, “Oh, yeah!” The “Change my mind dude”! Yeah I like him , too”.

I had to watch Dr Shaym. Aside from all the “F” words interjected everywhere, which he will hear at school anyway, it could be much worse.

There is hope in the next generation, I think.

The PC movement is utter nonsense for most avenues of our daily adult life ! If you grow up and become a little thickskined and sharpen your over all social intlectual skills a bit of mockery and self deprecation is something we all must learn to deal with . Shit maybe even dish a little back , I’m certain you and I would enjoy the banter . Working the deck of an oil tanker under construction at 18 toughens you up a bit , hint nobody gave a flying fuck how or what I felt or thought , waaa poor me LOL !
I know of a local comedic announcer who is a good all around entertainer and decent person . He did some bits where he would eventually drop the “retard” insult on air all in fun !
Now for the huge BUT : the station sponsored special olympics and had him on hand to MC a promotional spot . This one young mentally retarded boy called him out politely in tears and requested that he never use that word in a joke because it hurts him because he does the best he can and he was born this way . The guy broke down nelt down and apologized and swore to that boy he would never say that again . You ever wonder how tall a man is ? Take notice when he bends down to help console a special needs child , take the time to measure him then .
I know it’s off subject a bit but when you control an audience you really can make magic happen in places you may never expect .

In the fight against humorless twits, humor is the thermonuclear device. Nothing drives the sanctimomious purveyors of joyless, dogmatic scat crazier than being made the objects of ridicule and derision. To either take it or dish it right back out requires a sense of humor, which leaves them unarmed. Great article HSF. I posted it.

Re. hissing.. yeah.. WTH? If people have not experienced it, it doesn’t seem real.

I lived in a funky gentrifying suburb of Boston around the time of HSF’s gig story. There was a new little restaurant in our gay-friendly enclave that’d gotten good reviews for its food and so I ventured there with a gay male friend. Well, lo-and-behold we entered and were hissed at off-and-on by the staff throughout our meal. In a venue with 8-10 tables this quickly becomes uncomfortable.

Think:
We are in the U.S. of A., and said U.S. of A. is supposed to be the beacon for all entrepreneurs. We’re supposed to be the land of “tolerance”.. and yet these fucking dykes thought they could run a public restaurant and drive away all males via their hissing. No one we knew ever went back, of course, and the resto thankfully survived only a number of months.

Weirdly self-defeating.

In a similar vein, we had by one get one dinner at a gay owned restaurant in Kansas City. Seated next to a table full of men loudly talking about their exploits where they preyed upon teenage boys and their victories.

Never went back. I am not sure if it is still in business.
