Just days after taking back the House, a Democratic Congressmen has proposed outlawing “military-style semi-automatic assault weapons” and forcing existing owners to sell their weapons or face prosecution.
In a USA Today op-ed entitled “Ban assault weapons, buy them back, go after resisters,” Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., argued Thursday that prior proposals to ban assault weapons “would leave millions of assault weapons in our communities for decades to come.”
Swalwell proposes that the government should offer up to $1,000 for every weapon covered by a new ban, estimating that it would take $15 billion to buy back roughly 15 million weapons – and “criminally prosecute any who choose to defy [the buyback] by keeping their weapons.”
As NBC News reports, this is a major departure from prior gun control proposals that typically exempt existing firearms; as in the past, Democrats and gun safety groups have carefully resisted proposals that could be interpreted as ‘gun confiscation’, a concept gun rights groups have often invoked as part of a slippery slope argument against more modest proposals like universal background checks.
And sure enough Swalwell’s egotistical over-reach – going full “Australia” – prompted anger across social media. But it was one particular thread that caught our eye…

“Don’t be so dramatic. You claiming you need a gun to protect yourself against the government is ludicrous. But you seem like a reasonable person. If an assault weapons ban happens, I’m sure you’ll follow law,” Swalwell tweeted back.
And after the furor exploded, Swalwell quickly resorted to the “it was sarcasm” excuse.

The conservative-leaning 2nd Amendment-protector raising his ‘social media’ above the pulpit; or the liberal politician who is threatening to unleash nukes on domestic soil in order to ensure the citizenry follow his demands and hand over their means of defense?

The first time I saw Swalwell on television, I noticed his eyes. They were focused,yet they were not aligned as to appear normal. He had the look of perfect evil, the end justifies the means look. His being from the Bay Area of California, he is safe in his assessment. He should stay within his own district or the confines of the DC beltway, he has lit a fuse and it will not be extinguished!

I paused for a moment and asked him who he thought the military was comprised of, and to whom they were loyal.
I then explained how I myself, had served in the Army, my Son in the Airforce, My Father in the Navy, my Grandfather in the Army (and Navy on my maternal side) and so on, and so forth. I knew that none of his family had served.
I told him that having served with actual trigger pullers, having been in an Air Cavalry unit, that they would to a man, support the people and Constitution to which they swore an oath.
Also, the Viet Cong didn’t bother being concerned with our nukes, as the Taliban in Afghanistan to this day.

Colorado trained NPC’s will spread into these States via the population centers, and work the education system, and other government positions laying the groundwork for future conversion of Red to Blue. I suppose Swalwell has a point. SWAT teams in armored vehicles could, for a time, descend upon a gunowners home and seize his rifles or even shoot him to death but would this ‘progressive’ politician like to see the same happen to negro or beaner narcotics peddlers in possession of illegal drugs?

I won’t talk about the nuts and bolts but just as there are protocols for making what are called dynamic entries, there are protocols for defeating dynamic entry. If this stuff were to begin happening there would soon be no living SWAT teams.
Simply going after the wrong guy, let alone people prepared for such an assault is deadly. A couple of years back there was a former Special Forces trooper who was victim of a no knock dynamic entry. Of course, it was the wrong address and he was not who they were after-supposedly.
The former Green Beret was awakened by his front door being smashed in and he leapt from bed seizing a combat shotgun with which he killed several of the SWAT team, wounded all the rest but two. He was still arrested, hauled into jail where he “committed suicide” in his cell. Right.
If they got results like this a second time, that would be the end of it in that jurisdiction and any other that had the same experience.
We haven’t even gotten to the scenario where the neighbors have all agreed to open fire on anyone assaulting one of them. What do you further suppose happens to the unarmored police helicopter hovering overhead when two or three people open up on that with .308 or 7.62×39?
The tactics for dynamic entry are the same everywhere. If you’ve had that training, you’ll know exactly what to expect if your door gets smashed in. In most cases eventually the dynamic entry team wins. But it can still result in casualties. How many cops and feds are going to want to risk death kicking a door in to take an otherwise law abiding citizens guns? My guess is not very many. It wouldn’t take long to get to a point where they take so many casualties that people will stop showing up for work. What then?

Seeing how you can go buy a basic entry level AR for $500, sometimes less, I wonder how many rifles they will let you turn in for the $1000 reward.
