If the Federal government shuts down on Friday, will anyone notice? Other than the propaganda mainstream media, NO!!!!
I love government shutdowns because average Americans realize nothing changes in their lives when it is shutdown.
Markets used to crash and everyone would get worked into a tizzy when this ploy began years ago. Now everyone realizes it’s a farce. The government drones get a paid holiday and there is absolutely no negative impact on Americans when the government is shutdown.
The more the politicians and media play these games, the less credibility they have in the eyes of Americans, if that is possible.
If Trump was going to play this game successfully to get his wall, he shouldn’t have caved the previous two times. Now the Democrats know they take control in January. There is no chance he gets the $5 billion for the wall.
Did you know the American Battle Monuments Commission will be shut down – oh the horror.
Mostly affects the zillions of desk jockeys. Worst part is that after the shutdown – they all get paid for the time they didn’t work. An unexpected paid vacation.
A big FUCK YOU to the American people.
Thank you Mr Trump for doing whatever it takes to finally get a damned Wall built to keep Terrorist and criminals from walking in.
I’d be fine with shutting everything down – including withholding Social Security payments – until people get so mad they drive over to their congressman’s office armed with a hunting bow screaming “give the dotard his fucking wall already!” but I’ll withhold my thanks until Trump actually extracts the funding from the fuckers. Because I think he’s going chicken out yet again and sign yet another government funding bill. Couldn’t shut down the government at Christmas, after all. Wouldn’t want to look like Scrooge.
“There is no chance he gets the $5 billion for the wall.”
It doesnt look good, both sides have taken “Red Line” positions and the optics will be terrible for whomever caves. That said, Trump has proved to be a crafty mother fucker, and he organized the televised position stating showdown, I presume for a reason. I would not count him the loser yet, it has proven to be dangerous prognostication.
What does Q say about the wall?
q says build it & they won’t come unless we let them–
replying like that reminded me of an article i read recently about shoeless joe–
You failed to make the connection to the movie, Field of Dreams, that had the phrase ‘if you build it..’ and the introduction of Ray Liota as an ethereal Shoeless Joe.
no need to make the connection, the guys on this list know everything, and what they don’t know they don’t need to know–
Clinton Foundation asset forfeiture will pay for the wall. Pray
Q says that as a last resort Trump can use the 1.42 billion sealed indictments to build the wall.
Count him out. He pussied out again, without a fight. Pathetic.

The government shuts down every weekend and we do just fine. Problem is when it reopens for business on Monday. Look Out. John
How much less of 38 billion will Israel accept from Congress for their national security ?
Defense aid to Israel is a hand-out to the military industrial complex. Israel is required to spend the aid money with US corporations who provide them with the military equipment. It is a back-handed gift to Lockheed, Raytheon, NG, and other military contractors.
These shutdowns would be great, if the assholes didn’t end up getting paid for their time off.
Please STOP calling this criminal enterprise a government. If it shut down it would be our biggest break in 200 years.
I was in technical school training during a government shutdown. We did not get our paychecks (back then, we actually got issued paychecks from Accounting and Finance, if we wanted them. It was the 1980s… we wanted the paper. The idea of digital money issued by machines in which you inserted coded cards at the bank was still pretty new. I was thinking of my brand new ATM card with which I could withdraw money from machines outside the bank. And, I actually got my very first department store credit card at tech school, having never had any sort of credit up to that point. Gayfers was a big department store in Biloxi with the foresight to give any and all student applicants $300 worth of credit on a store card, since each and every one would be in the area at least six weeks.
I maxed mine out at Christmas, paid it off and got rid of it long before I graduated the next fall.
But, since those people with auto deposit got “paid” and I did not, I signed up for auto deposit and learned to rely on the debit card for cash. It was not immediately that Credit Unions issued the credit ability on all of their ATM cards. More than 30 years ago. Wow. Well, after that shutdown (September 1984ish). I think there were a few holdouts for getting the government punchcard type of checks for a while, but at some point everyone in the service was required to be paid digitally. I am thinking late 1980s, but can’t be sure.
I looked it up… I think Reagan had several shorter shutdowns. Tip O’Neil… boy, were THOSE a different set of political days?

Come on, Meg. 1984 is so yesterday. For a real dinosaur epoch, try tech school in 1977. We marched to school in the snow, no damn bluebird ride.
And those coded cards? I guess you hadn’t heard of credit cards in Oklahoma before 1990? How about toilet paper or soap? Toothpaste?
Illegals cost us multiples of $5 billion per annum in multiple instances. Build the f’ing wall one time and save huge amounts of money. Yet I only hear Tucker Carlson and one or two here and there even bring that up.
Downward pressure on wages from illegals harms the lower rungs of our economic ladder. There is no benefit of any kind to the citizens of this nation.
I say shut it down and do not blink even if it means war. People who will not defend our borders or protect the interests of our citizens need to be composted right f’ing now. It won’t be better later so why not let it rip.
“Illegals cost us multiples of $5 billion per annum in multiple instances.” -Hairintongue
Shaddup, you freakin’ limey. Go back to your piddling little island.
Blow me, Cabron.
Aw, Hairintongue knows a Spanish cuss word. How cute.
Sorry, Hairy, I’m on my period.
I didn’t know (blow me) was a Spanish cuss word.
I keep telling you to get those roids looked at.
I recently learned men can have periods too. It makes me mean-spirited. As for the ‘roids, thanks but they are fine. I’m not shitting 6 times a day like Bea suggests but I’m glad for a daily movement. Thanks for your concern. Anyways, using Spanish cuss words will get you nutted. Wait and see.
It’s a great one too. Muy grande and all that mierda tambien. The alties will like it because it means “cuck” en el Espanol.
Let’s be honest. Trump doesn’t have the balls for that. He could just refuse to sign any spending bill that doesn’t give him what he wants. What would they do – override a pocket veto? He holds all the fucking cards but he’s too chicken to play them. Hey Trump – they’re gonna impeach you anyway, you dickless wonder. You might as well make their lives miserable in the meantime, accomplish something and maybe even retain a chance at reelection.
Does this mean that the criminal Federal government under the guise of “military spending “won’t be able to launder hundred of millions of stolen US tax dollars through their corporate accounts for a few days ?
Pentagon Needs Better System to Track Fraudulent Spending
“Unfortunately, sometimes when Congress does get its say, the influence is not always for the benefit of taxpayers. In the defense budget recently passed for fiscal year 2019, for instance, lawmakers snuck in nearly 700 earmarks-in-all-but-name totaling nearly $20 billion, according to a Taxpayers Protection Alliance count. Offending members of Congress are more focused on showering funds on in-district defense contractors than on providing oversight or accountability for the taxpayers they serve”

Remember when Trickle Down Economics didn’t mean paychecks would shrink from 1980 to date?
I just remember the “Peso Crisis.”
That’s because you don’t know any history except your inbred genealogy.
poll after poll shows that the public wants the wall–
how about a go fund me for the wall, run thru tbp?
publicity for the site = $, + it might embarrass/shame some politicos to support the wall–
What polls can never show is that the public wants a shutdown of all the surveillance apparatus.
yipper,
not so sure you’re correct, depends upon when the poll is taken–
“you mean that nice little a rab boy that went to the university & waited on my table at burger barn was a terrorist?of course we need more surveillance if it saves the life of even one child, besides,if you’re not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about”-
don’t you love the smell of bipartisanship in the early afternoon?
now go ask pangloss what he thinks of my publicity idea & while you’re talking to him let him know that the absolute best & brightest stayed here in the south–southerners can’t become priests so the younger brothers go north–
Tampico, OP is a conglomeration of people who have said something once in a while. There is no real OP anymore than there is a real Santa. I thought you knew. Heck, even Stucky quoted Pangloss one time. The dude is everywhere, just like Santa.
si,lei las notas del acantilado por voltaire–
but he’s like santa & kevin, you have to believe–
on a serious note regarding your surveillance comment above,do you remember 1-2 years ago when it came out that the fbi has a fleet of small planes that can fly above & monitor on the ground situations, riots, marches, trail suspects, etc?
pretty sure i had one of those around here today–this is the 2nd time it’s happened–the 1st time was just after that info came out,and it went on for several days–
today he didn’t spend much time around here,15 minutes or less–the 1st time they would stay for an hour or so at a time–
i live just a few miles north of the airport, and when small planes/helicopters have to cross the flight paths they do so & then boogie away–these guys just do figure 8 s back/forth so whoever is flying these has clout–
The $$ would be better spent building a wall around DC to REALLY protect ourselves !!
Shoot any criminals that try to escape on sight.
With automatic shoot to maim machine guns.
Join the discussion…
at last-someone comes up with the correct answer !
A shut down lasting about 2 weeks sounds about right.
I can hear it already from the Trumpeteers when he’s gone… Trump fought the good fight and went down swinging. He tried and failed, he really did.
An amusing thread. Always fun when the perpetual troll, EC, weighs in. I think California should just elect a Pedro Gonzalez as Governor and see how that works out for them. They surely warrant a “Pedro” to be in charge.
