As long as it continues heading in the right direction, the cumulative effect is good for the country. That’s how anything improves. Incrementally. Over time. Direction is everything.

That’s not really the trend, Dutch. Breaks down pretty good. https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2019/01/04/the-u-s-economy-added-312000-jobs-in-december/

We need to send Star a letter jacket with a BIG T on it and a patch that says( head cheerleader).
That would cover his blow jobs for Trump and Tesla.

Happy New Year Star, I STILL don’t own any pets and you are still handing out blow jobs for Trump and Tesla……NOTHING has changed around here.

Wrong Jim. People with college credentials lost jobs. I doubt any of them were educated. Those people need to go back to the calling in life. Picking apples or whatever. And high-school graduates being able to find jobs is great. Now let’s keep driving up interest rates so they can afford to buy a house. And get married and have some kids, too. American kids

We’ve created a ton of $80,000 a year do-nothing jobs in education, in healthcare, in government, and finance, in real estate. No question, a lot of those people got to be pink-slipped. That’s the only way everything gets back in balance. I’ve been saying it since I’ve been on this blog, the days of the highly paid do nothing desk jockey are over. Get ready to work. The era of free money is ending. Hardscrabble one-time noted that the government goon that came out to look at his farm had a brand new top-of-the-line truck, that was freshly washed and waxed by some other highly paid government goonn. All that fat has got to go. No, I’m not obtuse, I just live in the real economy. If we don’t print money, it takes guys like me to create value in the world.

That Tesla move interests me not. If they had driven it back down to 250, I would like it. Remember they will be putting out their numbers in two or three weeks, same setup as last quarter. That’s where the big bump is. Their numbers should be inarguable again. I don’t like to gamble on stocks, though. So unless it looks like a slam dunk, I’m sitting on my hands. And I called no one a lowlife piece of shit. I’m simply saying too many chiefs, not enough indians. No economy can support that, without printing money. As far as patting myself on the back, not really. I was at City Hall all morning, dealing with government drones who have no idea where money actually comes from. It comes from one of two places. Value-added, or counterfeiting. Got to be one or the other. And trust me, at City Hall, they have no idea what deflation of property values will do to their highly anticipated gold plated pension at age 50.

Dutch, food and drink industries (the low paid service jobs you are hammering) are up by 235,000 for the year. Construction (+280,000) and manufacturing (+284,000) would both be considered breadwinner jobs and value-added jobs. Those are good numbers.

I WAS A WORKING stiff in the last really high unemployment era, 1967. I had three jobs and made money like it was going out of style. I could have got a job in a steel mill and made more than two of those jobs and with OT more than all.

At that time we had 500,000 me in Nam, an Armed Forces twice the size of now and a population of 200 million plus or minus.

Can’t shed tears for those who went deep in debt or parents paid for 6 years of ethnic studies, gender studies or social sciences and now Can’t find work. Bernie is the light at the end of the tunnel.

BTW the steel mill closed about 25 years ago.

The jobs numbers had nothing to do with it. It was Powell saying the Fed may stop interest rate hikes and slow the balance sheet normalization. It’s all about money printing. Stop printing and ALL asset prices will go down.

Hundreds of thousands of new jobs. The economy must be booming! Never mind that tens of thousands of jobs were imaginary birth-death model jobs and the jobs that actually were created were shit, the Dow Jones is up a whopping 700 points (BTFD is back, baby!), and gold is down. Everything’s perfect again!

Most private sector jobs are bull shit pay with low hours no benefits and if you are living under your parents roof you can keep a clunker going to get you to the shitty job where some mid manager is all pumped up on corporate nonsense promises that never pay up but he thinks your attitude caused his failure .
The only jobs for the majority of people that still pay salaries and benefits in this economic downfall are in health care and government all financed thru third party collections .
Health care jobs are financed by insurence payments directly from insured persons and tax payer funded premiums or debt increases indenturing tax paying citizens further . Government jobs again are funded by tax paying citizens and continued borrowing further increasing the debt indenturing tax paying citizens indenturing them further .
Meanwhile in flyover land pensions are bankrupt realistic living wages are to few in number to bother counting and government at all levels are running out of schemes to confiscate wealth from the general public without just out right theft by armed just doing my government job badge wearing minions .
Remember government pension plans are $7 trillon with a “T”
Underfunded and those who own property and any other asset the government minions can place some value upon you will be taxed out from under it . Yes you really are only renting what you thought you earned and owned . “THERE WILL BE BLOOD”

The jobs numbers were bullshit under Obama and they’re bullshit under Trump. You cannot believe numbers produced by people whose jobs / influence / power may be affected by those numbers! Stalin’s Five-Year Plans had equal credibility. I generally think Trump has the right direction, but he’s no more responsible (despite his tweets) for the market being up, down or indifferent than the man in the moon!
(One hopes he knows it too, but can’t resist blowing smoke up the Democrats’ skirts).
I’ll believe it when I see the FSA abandoning welfare because work is a better deal; the immigrants abandoning welfare because they don’t need it anymore; and the government losing workers because the private sector offers better deals. Until that happens, it’s all lies, bullshit and wishful thinking.
