Democrats Prepare Hearings on ‘Rightwing Extremism’

Guest Post by Kurt Nimmo

undefined

Prior to the 2018 midterm election, I speculated a Democrat-controlled House would result in hearings targeting “hate groups,” that is to say anybody on the “right” who challenges official narratives, otherwise known as “conspiracy theories.”

“Rep. Bennie Thompson, an African American lawmaker from Mississippi, is in charge of the House Homeland Security Committee,” reports McClatchy. “Thompson intends to hold hearings to spotlight what experts say is a growth of deadly right wing extremism in America, even if the hearings could feature members of white supremacist groups.”

The corporate propaganda media has done a fair job of conflating “white supremacy” and political thought the government wants to silence and shutdown.

The McClatchy article follows this line and links the “trend” of antigovernment activism to Timothy McVeigh and the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

That event has served as a touchstone for over two decades, primarily thanks to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which has made a cottage industry out of hyping “rightwing hate” (unacceptable political thought) and the threat of violence (for the state, the two are inseparable).

McClatchy and the corporate media have attached “rightwing extremism” to a number of violent incidents that have more to do with disturbed individuals than ideology.

A recent spate of deadly incidents—including the shooting deaths of 11 congregants at a Pittsburgh synagogue in October, the February 2018 shooting deaths of 17 students and staff members at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and the August 2017 white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia—have given Thompson and other congressional Democrats anecdotal evidence about the extreme right.

The Obama administration, continuing the work of the Bush administration, had the Department of Homeland Security produce a paper on the supposed threat posed by “rightwing extremists,” who are by the state’s definition terrorists on par (or worse than) al-Qaeda and its follow-up act, the Islamic State. Republicans, at the time a majority in the House, lambasted the paper and accused the Obama administration of overreach. Then DHS boss Janet Napolitano went into damage control mode.

Napolitano apologized for the report. But the political backlash led DHS to halt work on tracking violent far right extremism, according to Daryl Johnson, the report’s author.

But now the House is in the hands of the Democrats and they want blood following the election of Donald Trump and the rise of the so-called Alt-right, or New Right.

Under Republican control from 2011 until last week, the House Homeland Security Committee repeatedly rejected calls by Thompson and Democrats for specific probes of domestic far right activities. Some Republicans now are wary that Thompson’s probe would be conducted with a partisan eye.

Congress and the White House has looked at terrorism through the lens of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people. The House Homeland Security Committee, established after those attacks, largely has focused on the foreign threat or potential danger posed by U.S. residents becoming radicalized by foreign terrorist groups.

That emphasis will change under the Democrats. The new terrorists are “homegrown” and include nationalists (shorthand for racist), constitutionalists, and libertarians. There will be hearings and possible show trials in the months ahead.

The DHS will finally arrive at its final destination—a national secret police focused on political activism challenging the ruling elite and their contrived political arrangement.

Thompson said his aim is to change the dialogue and find a balance in a US domestic terrorism strategy that he believes has focused too heavily on the threat of homegrown Muslim terrorism and too little the rise of far right, white nationalist, and anti-Semitic groups.

In order to be classified as antisemitic, a group or an individual only need criticize Israel and its incestuous relationship with the ruling elite and its political operatives, in particular the neocon faction.

Thoughtcrime—opposition to the state and its policies—will not be tolerated by the political class. Democrats want to make sure another Donald Trump will not sit in the White House. In order to do this, they have to go after high profile individuals and groups, hold show trials, and continue the work of deplatforming “deplorables” and their “hate,” in other words, free speech.

Finally, a word of warning to the “far-left.” If you wander outside the parameters set by Democrats and their “progressive” foundations, you will also be attacked and undermined by the state, especially if you oppose Bush’s wars, which became Obama’s wars and now Trump’s.

If you are serving or have served in the military, please explain why I should have high regard for you?

Please explain.

I need to ask three questions before I answer this question, in detail.

Where you in the miltary? What was your MOS? Were you in combat?

Answer that and I’ll explain.

Donkey Balls,

I was not in the military. This isn’t the first time I’ve asked this question on TBP. The first time I asked it was about 8 years ago. Wow, what a shitfest.

At the end of it all, a Nam vet (I wish I saved his comment) said (no, not word for word, it was too long ago) war is not to protect our freedoms any more. Hasn’t been that way for a looooong time.

Q: if the military is fighting for my safety and freedoms, they’re attacking the wrong group(s). Sooo, if the military isn’t fighting for muh freedom, what ARE they fighting for and for whom?

I’m not looking to fight with you. I will listen but it better be a whole lot better than what I usually hear.

mark
mark

When I read your first comment I got pissed…and I wrote out what is below. Then I thought…maybe I got your attitude wrong, so I asked more on your background…maybe you were a fellow Vet or coming at this from a different angle I miss understood. Then I read this:

“I will listen but it better be a whole lot better than what I usually hear.”

IT BETTER BE BETTER THEN WHAT YOU USUALLY HEAR??? You arrogrant asshole.

Here is what I wrote at first and held back until I got clarification:

What makes you think for a fucking split second I give a pus filled rat’s ass boil about what you think of my time in the military or that you feel I should feel compelled to strive and explain and justify myself to your pompous ass or seek approval to your insulting demand about Veterans explaining the living hell on earth combat was or how it haunts you the rest of your life?

Who the fuck do you think you are high horse blather mouth? Who died and made Jackass Testicles the god we have to explain ourselves to???

Take your Donkey Balls and shove them up your ass or better yet into your smug mouth.

I’m a Nam Vet…humped the M-60. Was in about 30+ firefights, three Purple Hearts. We mostly were 19 year old kids who’s Fathers and Uncles fought in World War 2. We were raised to be patriotic, love our country and the Constitution and to serve our country. A lot of us saw it not as our turn to serve our country in the military, but as out chance! I was raised an ass kicking anti-communist and I’m still one. I enlisted in 68 at 18.

Somewhere in-between a 1/4th to a 1/3rd of the Marines in my company were killed in action and I watched many of them horrifically scream and bleed their life out. Another 1/4th to 1/3rd were carried out with forever life changing wounds with a limb, two limbs, a hand, a foot, feet blown off, and or any of them dangling by a gory bloody shred of their flesh. Others had a spine or head wound that they will never get over. Ever see a 19 year old bleed to death begging for morphine while sobbing for his Mother while your holding him lying to him to him calm him down when he goes limp in your arms? How about another buddy who was taken alive and had his balls and dick cut up and shoved into his mouth. Ever see a gut shot buddy trying to stuff his intestines back in? How about finding a buddy’s boot with his foot and ankle still in it and that’s all that’s left? Ever shoot somebody in the chest at point blank range and stare at the look on his face. I could go on and on but what does a snotty punk like you know about it.

Well…of course we should have time traveled and read all the future books and blogs and watched all the You Tubes and pontificated on TBP about “IT BETTER BE BETTER THEN WHAT I USUALLY HEAR???” We should of known all the tricks and propaganda of the Banksters’ and crooked politician’s wars. We should have turned away from all we were ever taught and knew and believed, and held to be noble (even though we were scared shitless) because if we didn’t one day some smug scumbag keyboard piss ant named Donkey Balls would get on his high horse on TBP and demand we cower to his demand and explain events he couldn’t even begin to comprehend in his safe, protected, soft, insensitive little soy boy life.

What do you know about being in the shit you little asshole?

And then you say:
IT BETTER BE BETTER THEN WHAT YOU USUALLY HEAR???
Here you go you go snowflake, read this: wrote it when I came home.

Donkey Balls as far as your questions….go to hell.

I think you care what I think. I get it, you made some terrible sacrifices. I do not belittle them. My question is Why should I have a high regard for the military if I continue to lose my freedoms and my country is being invaded on the southern border? Don’t think for one minute you are more of a man than I. If my country allowed me to, without criminal charges, I would go to the southern border and start defending.

The Nam vet I spoke of said he was a blind kid at a very young age also. Very patriotic and Gung-ho. He said…”what did it get me?” He alluded to patriotism, in many cases, is a weapon used to get people to do the dirty work for the elites.

Now that we torture, invade, act as economic hitmen, assassinate, dictate etc. etc. etc., how are we any better? My questions are human questions, not an attack.

‘I think you care what I think.’

Ahhh more arrogance. No Donkey Balls I really don’t give a shit about what you think.

I don’t care who you do or don’t have a high “regard” for…I don’t speak for the US Military and I don’t care what kind of man you are or aren’t either…or if you’re willing to go down to the border and throw rocks back at the Caravans.

You pissed me off.

You started off with a snotty challenge and when I asked for your background…wanting to make sure you really were a snot…you ended your reply with another snotty comment…removing all doubt.

Being a trained investigator I realized you were a snot.

Look, the miltary is the miltary from Ceaser to Chesty Puller. The Mother Green Killing Machine of my time is no different from the Romans.

So debate someone else I’m not in a mood for any more how bad the US Military is…especially from someone who is clueless about the experience or the average Americans in it, past and present.

You took it as a challenge. Now a question is a challenge? I think you care what I think evidenced by your loooong reply. I’ve been on this blog for 10 years, I’m not going anywhere.

” Why I should I have high regard for you?”

“I will listen but it better be a whole lot better than what I usually hear.”

Juat a little loooong education for you pop tart.

Was it a provacative question? Yes, but why is it considered provacative to ask such a question? Have you not seen the ads, fly overs and how the MIC is taking over even our country, the countries finances? The po po are militarizing and must be called heroes at every turn also. You and I (assuming you are a straight, white male with no mental disabilities) are being admonished as racists for simply being white even. I’m feeling the walls close in, are you? Is this what you fought for? Maybe you don’t know this but the government has labeled military veterans as possible terrorists(?). I may have used too strong a word but it has been discussed on TBP before.

mark

Your provocative question angered me…my service and my buddies on the Wall are sacred to me. I put a guy I grew up with in the hospital for telling me I was a murder for having fought in Nam. I would have killed him if it wasn’t for three other guys who pulled me off him and drug me away. He had no idea of who he was dealing with when I came home.

What you don’t have a frigg’in clue about is the difference between what an individual experienced (for me it was 50 years ago this year) and lives with VS. the worldview of all the impersonal ugly truths that has come out about the MIC, the FED, the Banksters, yada, yada, yada (assuming you are a straight, white male too…not just an insensitive asshole).

My world view, my politics, etc. are separate from my time in war when I was 19 and I’ll be dammed if someone who never served, never fought, never bled, never killed asks me to justify what I experienced and why HE should think highly of me and then says IT BETTER BE GOOD.

Who in the hell do you think you are?

Let me tell you exactly what I fought for. To get home alive with all my limbs and all of them working and the same for as many of my buddies as I could help, cover, back up, tie a battle dressing on and carry or drag to the Corpsman…PERIOD

Do yourself a favor and any other Veterans. State your geopolitical, historical, spiritual, cultural, views and have at it…but don’t ever ask Veterans, especially combat Veterans to explain themselves to you…because you don’t have any battle cred and are clueless about what they experienced.

Thank you for your blog Dis-service

I haven’t belittled you or your service. Try to understand where I’m coming from. Reread if you haven’t understood my comments. Viet Nam vets were treated horribly from what I understand. I was too young to see it with my own eyes. I’m sorry for your losses.

Beating the shit out of someone over words? I thought you were fighting for freedoms. You know, the 1st amendment and all.

This is the last time I’m going to explain it to you.

World views, geopolitics, politics etc. are separate from my individual and personal experiences in war when I was 19. I’ll be dammed if someone who never served, never fought, never bled, never killed asks ME to justify what I experienced and why HE should think highly of me and then says…IT BETTER BE GOOD.

Who in the hell do you think you are?

All the other Loooong stuff was to try and give you a personalized idea of the experience.

I understand exactly what you were getting at. LISTEN UP SHITFORBRAINS I don’t justify or explain or make excuses for my military past to you or anyone.

You said: “Beating the shit out of somebody for words.” Hell yea, I told you your words pissed me off and why, you don’t like it…good…I wasn’t going for your approval. I’ve apologized on TBP once when called on something I realized was condescending AND FLEA CALLED ME ON IT AND WE’RE BROTHERS!

You said: “I thought you were fighting for freedoms.” Your reading comprehension sucks. I told you above all I fought for was to get home alive with all my limbs and all of them working and the same for as many of my buddies as I could help, cover, back up, tie a battle dressing on and carry or drag to the Corpsman…PERIOD

I had it out with this Couch Diva last week over similar stuff. Called him the same names and a few more.
His very name reeks of liberal self loathing.
We had a neighbor who was in Guadacanal who told me about feeling his feet rotting away while hoping for the next wave of Japanese just to get his mind off his feet.
Gay boy can’t comprehend that.

Mark,

Your essay “GOT TO PRAY…GOT TO KILL” is one of the best I have ever read by one who has been there. Those individuals with whom I served during the same period were the Best of the Breed.

I believe those who have not played the Great Game often blame the wrong folks for our poorly chosen and poorly executed wars.

I would suggest reading Marine Major General Smedley Butler’s “War is a Racket” to get a basic understanding of how some great patriotic Americans get conned into killing the wrong people. Butler was twice winner of the Medal of Honor. https://www.ratical.org/ratville/CAH/warisaracket.htm

If you wish to look further: http://www.sweetliberty.org/issues/israel/freedman.htm

At some point, I hope that enough of us come to understand the following and then act accordingly:

“War” is when the government tells you who the enemy is.
“Revolution” is when you figure it out yourself.

mark

Check Six,

Thanks, that poem is always popular with Combat Vets.

I have been a convinced believer in the premise of Marine Major General Smedley Butler’s “War is a Racket” and similar books, websites, etc. for decades. That viewpoint is one that drew me to TBP. I lurked for years here before posting. I love this site and I will get into the trenches and fling shit with anyone over my beliefs, especially this one.

I have made an in-depth and relentless study of how the world really works since my early 40’s and have no illusions. I’m a voracious reader and have a huge library. I have been up to speed on the truth for decades.

I have no doubt Donkey Balls and I probably agree on most/many geopolitical and national political issues.

But that’s not the issue I had with him.

When I was in Nam there was a one page handout being passed around called: “It will only happen once.” It went from hand to hand to every Grunt in my company. It explained how returning Nam Vets were being spit on, challenged, mocked, derided, etc. etc. by too many Americans, the media and Hollywood. It ended with a pledge by the author that when he made it back to the WORLD the first time any of the insults or attacks or challenges were directed at him: IT WOULD ONLY HAPPEN ONCE.

I had a brutal homecoming in 1970. One ugly incident after another in my liberal NE hometown. Every time anyone disrespected me or any Nam Vet on the individual level, trust me, it only happened once.

I don’t care what “anyone” says about the politics of the Wars we have fought and I join them in exposing the tentacles of “The Deep State” and all that hydra snake head label entails. Even If I don’t agree with them I will defend to the death their right to “free speech it.” BUT, when anyone comes after the “individuals” who fought, bled, and sacrificed their youth, especially someone who never served or experienced “THE SHIT” and wants those who have to explain why they should held in high regard by HIM (who knows nothing about it and then says the explanation BETTER BE GOOD!) Well, It will only happen once.

Here is a poem a lot of Nam Vets I have given it to have liked. It was written in the 80’s and covers how I felt about everyone except my brothers who played the game, humped the bush and learned the hard way: It don’t mean noth’in.

THE BABIES OF THE BOOM

We are the children of heroes
who had been weaned
on the thin gruel of the depression
their manhood forged
in the inferno
of a world on fire
the war of their youth
as simple and righteous
as survival, victory and freedom

We are the Babies of the Boom
breast fed on the promise
of our father’s GI Bill
and the Mickey Mouse Club
the first generation
nurtured on the tube, inspired
by John Wayne, John Kennedy
and the echoes
of our father’s glories
free, because of the tradition
of the American Citizen Soldier

and the limb
grew strong and straight from the trunk
and the fruit
fell close to the tree

Maturing with the promise of Camelot
our power was invincible
our ideals pure
our fear naïve
our courage blind…
led by the Whiz Kids
the Best of the Brightest
we would follow the tradition
of the American Citizen Soldier
we would
Ask not what our country could do for us
but
what we could do for our country
and
we went and did it!
not our turn to serve America
our chance!
Much and many were lost
stolen…sold…discarded…traumatized…
wounded…maimed…K.I.A.
leaving us trapped
with the festering residue
of what men throughout the ages
who have survived combat
discover to their horror…
so much
so very, very much
about themselves
that is best not known

A generation
of Americana Citizen Soldiers
that wasn’t betrayed
until sprayed
that wasn’t dishonored
until ignored
that wasn’t stressed
until delayed
that wasn’t missing
until abandoned
then…

We found ourselves
defenseless, shocked and surprised
surrounded and ambushed
by our ugly homecoming
by our own people

Our jaded youth
limped home
the stench of death
clinging to our nostrils
staining our hands
while the still frame hyper seconds
replayed in endless slow motion
upon the Black Granite Wall
engraved behind our eyelids

and we were met

by the stares and scorn of the vocal minority
spitting on our sacrifice
consumed by the simplistic naivete
of the Woodstock floatism
the trendy assembly line non-conformists
who would soon eagerly embrace
all that they raged against
(when it was safe and nothing would be asked of them)

and we were met

by the stares and confusion
of the Silent Majority
their label a dubious distinction
their empathy tainted with apathy
the generation gap
widening into a chasm
leaving us treated more like victims
than veterans

and we were met

by the stereotypes and distortions
of the media’s portrayal
of the drug crazed guilt ridden
hair trigger former baby killers
walking a thin line
on the edge of society…

Leaving us on the outside
glaring in
ignored or slandered
our noses pressed against the glass
of America’s window

and now a generation has passed
and my youth
time and truth have eroded the stereotypes
“The Wall” honored our fallen
my daughter watched my fading nightmares
on TVs “Tour of Duty”
and looks at me questioningly
“Was the war like that Daddy?”
I dodge her questions
knowing so much
about myself
that is best not known

We were the children of heroes
weaned on the rich broth
of Americanism
our manhood forged
in the inferno
of our trial by fire
the war of our youth
as simple and bitter
as betrayal, survival and rage

@Mark and Flea: “War Is A Racket” by Major General Smedley Darlington Butler, U.S.M.C. aka former Commandant of the United States Marine Corps. I do not think anyone could call him a sniveling arm chair warrior wimp.

I quote him thus, “I served in all commissioned ranks from second lieutenant to Major General. And during that period I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism. I suspected I was just part of the racket all the time. Now I am sure of it.” Here he states he was NOT fighting for freedom or country rather he states he waged war for the moneyed interest in the united States. I, as a Vietnam, “in country” Veteran, have the utmost regard for General Butler’s integrity for telling the unvarnished truth about US imperialism. That the individuals mentioned in the quote used american youth’s blood to gain more wealth.

Should I hold a soldier involved in Organized Crime aka Mafia in high esteem? General Butler implies he was exactly that, a soldier in pay of the american gangster mafia. I recognize that many individuals were duped into joining the military by patriotic propaganda and agitprop. I also feel for the loss of humanity and time and terror they had to endure but they made their decision, albeit an ill informed one, to join the military.

I currently do not hold the military in high regard. As it now exist, it is merely the strong arm of the very same people General Butler called out so many years ago. It is for this reason, I steered my children away from service in the united States military.

The Constitution of the united States doesn’t provide for a standing army, yet the united States has one. The dead white men that founded this country was against having one. Why? Merely because the existence of such would hear calls for using the standing army for all monsters real or imagined. Case in point, I remember Mad(MAX)eline Albright saying, “What’s the point of having this superb military that you’re always talking about if we can’t use it?”. When the role of the military resorts back to defense of the borders of the united States from invasion by enemy forces, then I will hold the united States Military in some regard. Until then, it is just muscle for the Big Business, Wall Street and Bankster Mafia.

These fucking morons are poking the hornets nest. The GOP is done. Finished. Look at how they rolled over on Steve King. Shameful.

Stumbled on a new movement called Propertarianism and a guy named Curt Doolittle. It’s like Libertarianism, but with a set of balls. Check it out.

We are screwed
We are screwed

All these stupid bible toting, gun owning, bbq eating, patriots that are questioning the official bullshit narrative and thinking dor themselves outside the box, yup they are a threat. But those illegal aliens killing and robbing and raping, and those extremist muslims causing terroist acts, well they just need more money in welfare and hug. But those damned libertarians they are a threat and should be jailed. The tree of liberty seems to be called for a big drink as its getting very thirsty. These people havent a clue what it looks like when the masses wake up. Just ask Macron in france. His police are now carrying real bullets. Big, huge mistake. They are about to get their asses handed to them when the first yellow vest dies from a police bullet……mark my word.
