Marketing hypocrisy: that’s redundant.

I tried to come up with a decent term to battle the banality of an industry which has sexualized the natures of children to sell toys and addiction to video input and destroyed the American family by propagandizing abhorrent behavior during Prime Time as “comedy.” Since “media whores” is already part of the lexicon, a “marketing hypocrite” offers promise.

We watched an episode of “Father Knows Best” yesterday, followed by part of an episode of “Hazel.” That is how the media once “handled” teaching moments for children. However, modern commercials every five minutes jar us back to reality, where celebrities tell us we should send money to feed starving children somewhere in the desert because, well, we just should! And they walk off the stage and get chauffeured to wherever they go to rest after acting. It is all just acting; it is the purpose and intent that has changed.

I am not sure if watching the fantasy shows of the 1950s and 1960s offers a better way than the modern “reality” television with no moral (or morals) portray or suggest. Neither is real, nor are the other sitcoms or soap operas we have seen play out on the idiot box over the course of our lives. A growing number of people have little or no contact with the real world. Think about that on a national scale.

There are points of no return for all of us: choices made that can’t be unchosen, money poorly spent that can’t be unspent, laws passed behind our backs by congresscritters after re-election money, words spoken which can’t been unspoken, and damages to the soul which can never be repaired. It is at this point the princess cries out in despair and distress, hoping a toxically masculine prince might fly in with the deux ex machina to rescue her. But, there will be no rescue for American politics and government institutions. What has been done to demonize all Christian believers step-by-step was a coordinated and choreographed effort from the early 20th century growth in mass communication. It seemed natural for the movie industry to help in the efforts to teach people what being an American was all about. After all, there was a need to assimilate large numbers of immigrants fleeing Bolshevism and the ravages of trench warfare in Europe. Who would decide what images were “good” images? Who always decides?

There were always “gatekeepers” in the mass communication industry, but they are no longer hiding in shadows. Now, the media producers openly declare what most people will be allowed to think because most people no longer just think for themselves. Whether you realize it or not, that declaration changes yours and my behavior, if only to irritate us and strengthen our resolve to resist. You can’t avoid consuming the words you are forced to read. Toxic masculinity may be the shot heard around the world and people will resist the media as message giver and stop consuming the message. Whether you are in a bird box or a bird cage, you don’t need a blindfold to refuse to see. Because as long as people consume the product, whether they admit they are digesting it or not, the producers win. It is the banality of evil that causes despair.

McLuhan was close… the Medium may not actually “BE” the Message, but the Medium certainly decides what message it will convey. Talk about AI becoming self-aware… the Media Industry in this country is a “self-aware” Entity embarking upon the final transformation of the country.

Want men to buy razors – make them think that your brand will help them pull chicks. Want to destroy your brand – tell them they are all assholes. The above marketing effort was a good idea. The recent ad – I suggest it is time to buy stock in whoever manufactures Schick.
