“Nine hundred teachers just got laid off from the Los Angeles Unified School District. They are $650,000 over their annual budget. The following comments by an English teacher help to explain one area that looms large over California’s educational crisis. I hope each person receiving this mail will read it carefully, all the way to the end.
It is sad what is happening to our great country, all because our politicians are afraid they will miss out on a vote. What a travesty!
This English teacher has phrased it the best I’ve seen yet and it should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent.
From a California school teacher….
As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of: I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title-1 school, meaning that its students average in the lower socio-economic and income levels.
Most of the schools you are hearing about are Compton, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc., where their students are protesting – these are also Title-1 schools.
Title-1 schools are on the free-breakfast and free-lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I’m not talking about a glass of milk and a roll. But a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make the Marriott proud.
The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (Our tax dollars at work!)
I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more have cell phones.
The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids (More of our tax dollars at work!)
I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department, or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything.
My budget was already substantial, but I ended up buying new computers for the Computer Learning Center, half of which, one month later, were carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America. (More and more of our tax dollars at work!)
I have had to intervene several times for young substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less than 3 months, who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them putas (whores) and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears.
Free medical care, free education, free food, free day care, etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled not only to be in this country, but also to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?
To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society, because they happen to like their gardener and/or housekeeper, and they like to pay less for tomatoes, I say:
Spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the true costs. Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases, etc., etc., etc. For me, I’ll pay more for tomatoes.
Americans, we need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won’t have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?
It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by age 15, and that refuses to assimilate, plus an American culture that has become so weak and worried about “political correctness”, that we don’t have the will to do what is needed.
If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know including your Congressman and Senators.
Cheap labor? Isn’t that what the whole immigration issue is about? Business doesn’t want to pay a decent wage. Consumers don’t want expensive produce. Government will tell you “Americans don’t want the jobs”.
But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase “cheap labor” is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as “cheap labor”.
Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an income tax return, he gets an “earned income credit” of up to $3,200 free.
Also….
1- He qualifies for Section-8 housing and subsidized rent;
2- He qualifies for food stamps;
3- He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care;
4- His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school;
5- He requires bilingual teachers and books;
6- He qualifies for relief from high energy bills;
7- If they are, or become aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI;
8- Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare (All of this at taxpayer’s {our} expense);
9- He doesn’t worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowner’s insurance;
10- Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material;
11- He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits;
12- Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his;
13- The American taxpayers also pays for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.
14- Free Child Care (i.e., free babysitting from 6 AM – 6 PM
15- Free ‘mommy makeovers’ after having their children ( includes: tummy tuck and breast lift)
Cheap labor? Yeah right! Wake up people!
These are the questions we should be addressing to the Presidential candidates for either party. We must take action or we will all go down the drain because a few don’t care.
And if you think this is bad, just wait until a Democrat becomes President and the redistribution of wealth becomes the norm in this ex-Democracy. The estimated annual cost now, for state, local and federal, is nearly $400 billion dollars a year.

years ago I did an interview with a guy that was a tile setter. He had been in the trades for 30 years. He started as a kid digging ditches and eventually became an apprentice and after a number of years became a master at his trade. He lived in the Pasadena area and couldn’t make ends meet. He simply couldn’t find jobs that would pay enough for him to support his wife and daughter with special needs. He eventually left Pasadena, CA for the Northwest and now has plenty of work that pays enough to support him and his family. I haven’t spoken to him for a while. My guess is his current location is thick with illegals and is probably once more in trouble. Without enforcement of our immigration laws, it is only a matter of time before all members of the productive class are displaced.
Never fear. Trump is going to build 55 miles of ‘wall’ satisfying his pledge to ‘finish the wall’. I imagine it’ll also have a several “big beautiful gates”. Also, he’s going to end chain migration and install e verify any minute now. Just be patient. Any minute.

One of the few blessings of old age is the memory of first world America; white America. A place where systems worked, people were responsible and common courtesy was the order of the day. I moved to California in ’72 and in every election cycle, without exception the rallying cry has been “It’s for the children”. Every freakin’ time. And you know what? It was never about the children. It was about the teachers’ union and the other public sector unions. California is FUBAR.
I read a story several years ago about Governor George Wallace. It seems the state of Alabama was having an election and one hot and heavy thing on the ballot was raising taxes for some school issue and the main selling point was that it was “for the children.”
Someone asked governor Wallace about the hotly debated subject and he supposedly commented; You know on the news tonight there’s gonna be some guy in a three piece suit talking about how badly we need to pass the tax because after all, “it’s for the little school children”, and also somewhere there’s gonna be a voter watching that man in the three piece suit begging for money for the “little school children.” That voter has been out working in the hot sun all day, he’s got a beer in one hand and a bologna sandwich in the other and he’s saying “Fuck the little school children.”

Old news. I watched this happening many years ago and realized that by working and paying taxes I was a consummate ennabler. So, I went Galt as much as was humanly possible and continue to do so. I make enough to support myself and live a decent life with a tiny bit put aside. As a retired teacher in Ca I can attest to the validity of this letter…last week a close friend attended the Elk Grove Unified School District to voice his objection to the districts new LGBT curriculum that was to be introduced into their K-8 curriculum. There were several who spoke against it, but he remembers the pleading of a black pastor and Hispanic man for the board to reject this proposal of teaching this sexual life style to children….the board, with the support of superintendent, Mr Chris Hoffman voted unanimously to inject this evil into the curriculum….it was another sad day in the halls of education. The point being to all this….the government has infused itself into being usurpers, educators, parents, and custodial watch dogs of your parenting and your babies…and it won’t be long until they (all things evil)have totally flipped the moral compass of this country upside down.

The author points to the illegals, but the darker demographic (and to some extent the white demographic), ALL take advantage of the government run-theft from taxpayer-funded welfare system. It begins with “free” schools, and every other handout mentioned in this letter. We are incentivizing and encouraging folks to flood over our borders will all of these freebies, but we are ENCOURAGING sub-human, parasitic behavior RIGHT HERE AT HOME among those who can claim citizenship going back multiple generations.
When one has to rely on the VOLUNTARY charity of others, one knows that its existence is tenuous at best, and can be withdrawn at any point. One does not become reliant (if one is actually physically/mentally able to do otherwise).
Since at least 1934, we have set up our nation for failure….this failure….by not demanding that people take personal responsibility for themselves, or by allowing ONLY voluntary charities to exist.
Until we dismantle the welfare state (for ALL), we are doomed as a society and a nation. No wall will truly fix this problem, as the cancer is now deeply internal, multi-generational, and deeply infects the minds of most of the middle class and both major political parties.

I mentioned to my dinner partners, both in their late 60s, that at certain schools in my hometown, if you qualify for free lunch, you can get breakfast, nutrition break, lunch, then bring any student 18 years or younger back to these designated school sites and get them supper.
I have had an instance in class when I was teaching an after-school program remedial math class for 7th and 8th graders where 2 male students were high-fiving one another because they found out both mother’s got SNAP benefits. Bragging bout their EBT card.. I was horrified. I told them a story about a young boy growing up in the poor side of town with no street lights or sidewalks (still to this day), who had to sometimes (at one point in my childhood) tear out the food stamp dollars from the packet my mom got and hand the cashier it while everyone around me watched and judged. No fun. No fun indeed. I definitely wasn’t bragging about it. Some might chalk this behavior up to youthful ignorance but as you mention it is a symptom of a much bigger problem…

Thanks. And it used to be that food stamps were ONLY useful at a supermarket to purchase REAL or sort of real food. Now, EVERY “quick-e-mart” attached to ever gas station, every prepared food counter in every market, and so much more, accepts EBT cards. So nobody has to learn how to prepare food, eat better food, etc. It is truly a multi-generational cancer, and making it all nice and “concealed” at the checkout (versus the old, very visible, food stamps), has truly made it so much worse. Gone is the day where dad would say “we are NOT going to beg for charity…if this family is to be fed, I’ll figure something out.” Now its “got my EBT, got my EBT, got my EBT.” Its not even seen as a charitable hand out anymore, but simply an “entitlement” for being alive.
When I was a young girl, 1960s, my grandmother received a booklet of food stamps each month to supplement her Social Security check, which arrived the same day, I think, in the mail. Sometimes, she would give me one of the singles to spend on candies or snacks and the cashiers gave “real change” in return, including silver dimes and quarters.
I remember the sense of “shame” attached to the use of those bills, but that was then.
This isn’t.
They still spent the $700,000. Until, someone gets the guts to stop spending the money, it won’t matter how much truth they speak. I know if that person didn’t spend it, the money would have been spent somewhere else and given to someone else’s budget for the next year.

No Child Left Behind created a bunch of competing public school district fiefdoms…all competing against one another for new students from other district’s territory…The district fiefdoms hire grant writers to qualify for additional programs in which the additional jobs looks good for the cities and the schools….just as the police departments have been coerced and enticed by federal money to pay for additional officer positions or community service officers so have the school districts…

I always think back to the story of an old vet with dementia that lived on the east side of Michigan. He fought for his country, paid his taxes, and his own way.
The winter he died was cold and he died alone. Seems he forgot to pay his utility bill one month so the power company put a device on his meter that would turn off his power and he would have to go outside to reset it. Problem was nobody from the power company told the old man what to do, so when the heat went off, as it happens from time to time in the winter, he put on his coat waiting for the power to come back on.
His nephew stopped over a few days later and found him fully clothed and froze to death in his bed, an envelope with cash paper clipped to the electric company bill was on the kitchen table.
If this man had been an illegal his bills would simply have been taken care off. This county is Fucked up and bullshit.

Does that make it untrue? Here in the rust belt, our local high school offers free breakfast & lunch to any & all comers during the summer (non-school) months. Taxpayers are paying for it. So, whether or not your family receives SNAP or EBT subsidies, you can also get free breakfast & lunch on the taxpayer dime. Actually, they’ll feed you if you just show up. No need to prove finances, job, income, etc. You aren’t responsible for you anymore. Taxpayers are.

Those additional “benefits” are never (or very rarely) made known to the American people. Few, if any, Americans get those handouts you listed yet we all pay for them. Which is something we need to remedy.
But, the thing that bothered me most, especially since you are purporting to be a “teacher”, is that you do not know that America is NOT a “democracy”, nor has she ever been one since her creation. America is a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, and there is a reason that she is that most Americans today are ignorant of, not taught in American schools, etc.
A CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC has in writing EXACTLY what powers and authority those who SERVE WITHIN our governments have, how that power must be executed, etc. It is in writing so that the American people can KNOW exactly what is allowed of their representatives and hold them accountable. It is in writing so that anyone who was not knowledgeable in governmental workings (LAWFULLY) can know exactly what that persson is allowed/required to do by the position within government they occupy. Because the people who serve within those governmental “agencies”, etc do NOT have the LAWFUL authority to make any type of legislation that is binding on the American people. It is actually at least one felony, plus perjury for them to do so.
This is why it is critical for the American people to understand our government. Borders MUST be protected. Those who “immigrated” here MUST be assimilated and LEARN English because that is the language spolen here before any others are ALLOWED to enter for any reason other then a visit or vacation.

Nobody chose to memorialize the conviction of El Chapo in NYC this week. I wonder why?
El Perico said kids in Mexico today pay homage to a man less deserving than Pancho Villa or Zapata. A maniacal mass murderer responsible for the violence that gripped Mexico (and the USA) since 2000. His treachery was boundless as he tried to capture the narco trafficking business all for himself. He had presidents in his pocket, there was that report of having paid EPN $10 or $100 Million. Calderon conducted his war on drugs against enemies of El Chapo, at one time placing the military in Juarez to quell the Juarez cartel.
It’s no secret drug trafickers have enjoyed the protection of Mexico’s government. Most presidents have managed to keep a reputation but there was that scandal with Salinas-Gortari’s brother.. It was no surprise to anybody that El Chapo’s territory was never under any danger from government assaults. It was reported that El Chapo walked around in the open in his hometown.
Now he will be an honored guest in Florence, CO’s supermax prison. P re-extradition agreements insured his wife and mistresses will live comfortably on his money and properties while he serves several life sentences in round the clock isolation. The agreement being necessary to protect the innocent officials who might have unwittingly conducted business for years with a known thug.
