The Insane Surveillance of your iPhone that Exposes You To Massive Risks

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

There is a new and very serious data scandal rising up with iPhones that Apple is being asked to shutdown. There are a number of major companies who are now secretly recording your every move on their iPhone apps without your permission or even your knowledge. They are actually recording every keystroke you make. The list of companies are Abercrombie & Fitch, Air Canada, Expedia, Hollister, Hotels.COM, and Singapore Airlines to mention a few.

According to an investigation by App Analyst, they checked apps created by Glassbox by reviewing their listed customers to see exactly what data was leaving their iPhones and going back to the companies. According to TechCrunch, none of the apps that were checked bothered to tell the client that they were recording their screens or that they were sending the information back to each company. This type of surveillance to see what you might be interested in buying next is EXTREMELY dangerous. This is going way too far and we really do need laws to prohibit this type of data collection. They are capturing everything including your banking details.

What is becoming painfully obvious is you SHOULD NOT use your phone for financial transactions — PERIOD!!!!! Additionally, get a cheap laptop and use that for any financial transactions with NO OTHER apps for movies, travel, or anything. Segregate your financial transactions from the rest of your activities.

starting to notice trends…
1. Something that delivers convenience is not without some type of cost.
Spying / Loss of Privacy, higher prices, or influencing behavior, with ad targeting. ALEXA, anyone? Never.

Banks use Apps for smartphones. A few of the benefits, and a few of the risks.
Mobile deposit lets you avoid waiting in line at the bank to deposit a check. Direct Deposit is safer.

Finger print Log In uses biometrics to quickly use an alternative to repeatedly typing in account passwords.
Log Ins, to check balances, are in all likelihood, seen by people you have not given permission to, and so, at risk.
Whether banking Log-In via http://www., or via your phone carrier’s system and it’s RF data transmission.
Large surplus balances are almost certainly at risk of cyber theft.

Having a lot of eggs in your basket, cautions for watching that basket. Every day.
Spreading those eggs around to multiple smaller baskets, helps distribute 1 major risk to
multiple, smaller (minor) ones.

Another trend…
2. Incentive-Rewards programs have risks and costs, too.
Our participation benefits the promoters. Some way, some how.

Doubtful, the above post is exclusive to iPhones. Android phones have their risks and privacy invasions, too.

Impossible to just ditch the cell phone completely.
But, a simple flip phone, for calls and texts only; no web browsing….that might be the ticket.

Wondering how much longer they’ll be available…low interest = no market, no margins, so, no longer.
Hmmm….

Impossible to ditch the cellphone? Bullshit I say. I was born without one, lived 60+ years without one, & may very probably die without ever having one. Life goes on same as it ever did. I am considering a cheap burner pay-as-you-go phone in case the truck breaks down since there are no pay phones anymore, or if the local landline service continues to suck, but… we’ll see.

I do absolutely no banking on-line, I still write paper checks for all bills & refuse to give my SS # to anybody to be used as identification. Fuck ’em. If they want my business they can figure another way to ID me. A few credit card transactions is about the extent of my on-line exposure.

If you dont like the system, why do you keep feeding it & helping it expand?

This is insane. We need a law. Make these apps responsible for data and financial theft. And the phone makers. If guns are responsible for deaths and must be banned…

Told this to a friend….. she said “I have nothing to hide”
When her accounts get wiped clean….. maybe she’ll change her mind….
I have deleted all google apps and never do any financial business on cell phones
