Scott Pelley Commits Career Suicide

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

Finally, you’re left with image of Scott Pelley sucking on his eyeglass frames as if he was trying to impersonate a character who might be called The Ole Sage TV Journalist, after neatly disgracing both himself and TV journalism in his puffy chat-up with Andrew McCabe, the ex-Deputy FBI Director who stage-managed the cover-up of the RussiaGate fiasco in both of its phases — first to interfere with the 2016 election on behalf of Hillary Clinton, and then to oust the winner of the election, Mr. Trump.

Perhaps Mr. Pelley was ruminating on all the topics he forgot to ask about, such as what Mr. McCabe meant by an “insurance policy” in his conversations with counter-intel agent Peter Stzrok and DOJ lawyer Lisa Page; or whether Mr. McCabe launched the Russia collusion investigation on the basis of the Steele dossier, which was already known at the time to be material furnished by the Hillary Clinton campaign; or whether the contents of said dossier had ever been verified via established FBI protocol (the “Woods” procedure), which they never were.

The audience was informed at the very end that Mr. McCabe’s case had been “referred” to the federal courts by the DOJ Inspector General. That was a nice way of saying that Mr. McCabe has been singing to a grand jury. If so, then he’s an early bird, because many of his feathered friends will be following him into the grand jury chamber and then we’ll have the great Battle-of-the-Alibis.

Mainly what the McCabe interview accomplished was CBS tripling-down on the empty Russia collusion “narrative” that has nourished the crusade to dump Mr. Trump by any means necessary for more than two years. Mr. McCabe describes the “chaos” in the C-suites of the FBI after the President fired Director James Comey in May 7 of 2017, “because we had lost our leader… it was an unbelievably stressful time,” he said.

Yes, I’m sure. Because so many top officers in the Bureau were desperate to cover their asses since Mrs. Clinton’s unbelievable election loss meant that all the FBI emails and official memoranda documenting their behavior either had to be shoved down the memory hole illegally or left to be discovered by Mr. Trump. Indeed, some of it was illegally destroyed, for instance the government-issued cell phones of Ms. Page and Mr. Stzrok, smashed to bits on Robert Mueller’s instructions.

Apparently, one of the main objectives in the 60-Minutes story was to paint Mr. McCabe as an heroic patriot defending America against the wicked, shape-shifting, all-powerful Russia, which had made Mr. Trump its captive. The 60-Minutes piece happens to coincide exactly with the release of Mr. McCabe’s ass-covering book: The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump. (Real superheroes fight both.)

It also sets up a nice contrapuntal battle between the enigmatic Rod Rosenstein and Mr. McCabe vis-à-vis the idea of “wearing a wire” to record the President en route to running him over with the 25th Amendment. According to Mr. McCabe, there was a lot of lively discussion around this plan. Mr. Rosenstein has brushed it off as a gag. Mr. McCabe, apparently, thought it was dead serious. They never did get their stories straight. In the meantime, Mr. McCabe’s own colleagues in the FBI’s ethics office and its Inspector General charged him with lying repeatedly about his role this matter.

You had to wonder whether the attempt by CBS-News to sell “the sterling career” story of Andrew McCabe (as Mr. Pelley put it), is really just a way for the network to cover its own ass in acting as a propaganda patsy in the long-running RussiaGate affair. The 60-Minutes segment also coincided with William Barr’s confirmation last week by the senate as the Attorney General, as well as official reports issued by both house and senate committees stating that they found no evidence for the Trump / Russia collusion story. The ground is shifting under all this seditious hugger-mugger.

Whether you are a Trump cheerleader or not (I’m not), there is a reality-based chain of events behind the FBI’s actions from early 2016 on — and the actions of other official players in government — that can only be clarified now in the courts, and chances are pretty good that they will be. It concerns me because the specter of massive institutional failure in federal law enforcement and the news media bodes very darkly for this country’s future.

There’s a disconnect between the title of this (typically) insightful piece by Kunstler and it’s title. Pelley commits career suicide? You mean his career as a journalist is harmed by his complicity in the scam? That he sung the right tune for mc cabe’s tap dance? That hurts him? I hardly think so. My guess is that he earned the keys to the executive washroom and a blow job from gayle king, understanding how women get career advancement at cbs.

Perhaps he sees a race to the bottom with Chuck Todd to see which one gets the Barbara Walters award for Arrogance.

Based on the article title, I expected to read about Pelley inadvertently saying something true about AIPAC, Jews in general, and/or Israel.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Let’s start issuing the indictments NOW. It’s well past time to do so… Chip

I have always enjoyed JHK’s mastery of the written word- and he’s a pretty fair painter to boot- but what troubled me was his inability to see the damage that the others were causing to our system simply because he shared their politics. Now he’s finally reached a place where he appears to transcend his previous positions based on the evidence. Gotta respect that. The problem was never a bad leader, we’ve survived them before, but the corruption of the entire foundation upon which our system was built. That’s not survivable.

HSF,

Like you, I’ve enjoyed JHK’s writing for some time, even when not necessarily agreeing with him.
“a nice contrapuntal battle…”. How many of us had to look that up in the dictionary?
It has been nice to see him significantly red-pilled as of late.

” . . . OUR government” ? Why any sentient Man would continue to want to “take possession” of something so now absolutely corrupt/evil, is beyond me! Love your on-going perceptive contributions to the Truth fellow farmer ‘Scrabble , but I respectfully decline your “presumption” of contributing to said “possession”. That ended within the first 30 days in ‘Nam, ’69. That’s when the reality of the [no longer] ‘these’ united States being hi-jacked by the “dividing” SNAKES Corp, D[e]C[eit] could no longer be denied. I increasingly suspect that the evil and concomitant death/destruction/financial enslavement is already of a magnitude greater than that of the Roman Empire in the last BC/early AD centuries of its “[gory] glory”, also built on conquest, slavery, constant “tribute” and sustained by constant war in foreign lands. Sound familiar? And . . . “accomplished” within only 1/4 the time-span of the Roman Empire’s effectual duration! Now that’s real “success”!
As the current social/political/financial ‘clusterfuck’ becomes acceleratingly ridiculous and “unmanagable” by the increasingly desperate CRIMINAL gov-agents to the aforementioned “D[e]C[eit] RICO Op”, now “operating” with abandon and fully “uncloaked”, I am daily a little more thankful to be old but still healthy/unmedicated/active; inland/rural on a portion of UNaddressed/UNencumbered arable dirt – GATHERed/grouped, GUNned, GARDENed and . . . SIMPLIFIED. Already experienced way too much adversity/perversity/injustice “IN [and around] this world” to any longer wanting to be “OF it”. It is now my daily prayer/simple wish – as a humble Repentant, that “the door swings in the Right direction without catching my back-side” in the homestretch of this incredible journey to/search for this “ONE’s” [no longer a “zero”] personal Salvation. And, as of this comment, happier in being . . . “little closer to HOME”. Hoo-rah.

Scott Pelley committed career suicide? Hardly. He played his role as assigned. Nope, nothing will come of the crimes committed by the bureau bureaucrats, Rosenstein is still employed, Muller, despite his obstruction and destruction of evidence is still running his sham investigation, ruining lives and collecting large amounts of tax dollars, Hillary and Bill remain un-indicted despite all their crime and Trump continues to wallow in the swamp, made ineffectual by the actions of the complicit media and the relentlessly evil democrats.

Yep. What did it for me was the Audi persecution debacle. CBS single handedly nearly destroyed Audi’s business in the U.S. with its totally fabricated lies about unintended acceleration.
From that point on I’ve been skeptical about msm “investigative journalism”.
I don’t personally care for Audi and would never own one but I can’t stand people lying to me.

The mainstream media has always been dishonest. From the “yellow journalism” of the late 1800s and early 1900s to today’s “fake news”, journalism has shown its true (communist) roots.
From the lies about the Spanish-American war to the New York Times’ walter duranty hiding the truth about and denying the artificially engineered and forced communist “famine” in the Ukraine, to the lies about the 1968 Viet Nam communist Tet offensive (a military victory for the South Vietnamese and American troops) reported by walter cronkite as a military defeat, cronkite and his ilk were successful in prolonging the Viet Nam war for years, giving “aid and comfort” to the enemy, who bragged about being supported by the U S media.
Look at NBCs doctoring of GMC truck gas tanks, rigging them to explode, and the deliberate mischaracterization of George Zimmerman’s conversation withe the 911 dispatcher, deleting a key phrase, as well as showing Trayvon Martin as a 12-year-old cherub rather than his more recent “thug” facebook picture.
The media has become a “fifth column” of the government and is not to be trusted. The CIA has had its hooks in the media since the 1950s. In fact, Hollywood script writers were paid to insert anti-drug messages in their scripts during the “drug hysteria” period of the 1980s through 2000s. Today, we have “crisis actors” embedded in our government and media, the same “crisis actors” who keep showing up, being used in every (fake) “crisis”. The mainstream media keeps parroting these impostors, thinking that we are stupid, not being able to see through their lies and deceptions.
To our advantage, we now have the internet, which gives the ordinary citizen the ability to see through the deceptions and lies, and the capability to be real “journalists”, quite often getting and reporting the story TRUTHFULLY before the mainstream media.
In fact, there are calls by “mainstream media” to “license” journalists, in an attempt to keep these “citizen journalists” out…twenty years ago, any journalist suggesting such a scheme would have been thrown out, but nowadays…who knows?

When the rule of law disintegrates, a country becomes nothing more than a third-world banana republic.

The USA is striving to take its place as the biggest and baddest third-world banana republic on earth.

The judicial branch is as politically corrupt and compromised as the other two branches of government. The leftwing fears of interrupting the progressive rot is fairly obvious. The debacle of shouting door-scratchers during the Kavanaugh hearings, the obsession with Ginsburg, and the failure to prosecute high level subversives should make everyone worry.

I find it interesting that McCabe chose to go after Rosenstein so strongly. Probably a bad choice. Rosenstein is smarter than McCabe. Rosenstein is a Trump appointee, and has not been involved in this for nearly as long. Rosenstein is not really mentioned in the Page/Strzok texts. Most of the bad actors seem to be on the FBI side, from Comey on down. Let’s hang that little bastard

Up to this point I have lived and breathed our fight for the Republic or what’s left of it, literally for years and years. I have had it with all my wishful thinking. When ONE effing Democrat of significance gets indicted, must less actually arrested like Roger Stone, then somebody call me or wake me up. Until then, all this crap is like having sex with your pants on or getting a really bad failed hand job.

My “awakening” and distrust of the government and “mainstream media” started with the JFK assassination where I noticed the “news anchors” smirking” to each other while “reporting” (actually reading their pre-written “reports”) in the aftermath of the assassination.
At a young tender age, I read the entire “Report on Assassinations” (the Warren Commission Report) and thought to myself, “what a crock of sh!t”…
In 1967, upon independent investigation, I recognized Israel as the “enemy” with the deliberate “act of war” against the United States with the attack on the USS Liberty (GTR-5) with the subsequent “cover-up” by Lyndon Johnson who “did not want to embarrass an ally”.
Looking past the claims of the so-called “holocaust promoters”, I soon discerned that this “event” was indeed “The Hoax of the Twentieth Century”, and was merely a successful “money grab” by the zionist jews. It is interesting to note that there were no claims of “death camps” in the many dispatches that were passed during WW2. The word “holocaust” was not used until the 1960s. The emaciated bodies shown in popular “holocaust” literature were a result of typhus, not extermination. Add to that the jewish “lampshades”, “jewish soap” and “jewish shrunken heads”, as well as the “electrocution machines”, “head-smashing machines” and other outlandish propaganda claims. Let’s not forget that the jewish population showed a net increase after the cessation of WW2, despite the claim of “6 million” which had been claimed since the 1880s.
The “mainstream media” has been totally dishonest, most of their stories fed to them by the “deep state”. In fact, William F. Buckley’s publication, the “National Review” was itself being “fed” stories by the CIA.
The “mainstream media” has never been honest. There has always been an “agenda”, whether promoted by governments, or those above the government power structure who really “call the shots”.
The “snag” in their plans is the internet, which makes it possible for anyone to put out their point-of-view, concerns, or theories, without having to negotiate the (former) “gatekeepers”.
The powers-that-be and their media types are running scared and attempting to “put the genie back into the bottle” by forming “truth commissions”, enlisting the major social media outlets to combat and marginalize “ideas” that do not conform to the “commonly accepted narrative” (what the media outlets and the powers-that-be WANT us to believe)…

I think the biggest immediate problem in America right now is that truth will conquer the lie. The truth always comes out. Many will not handle the truth very well, as that is very evident today. The scales fell off my eyes years ago when I actually looked up historical heating degree day records and did the calculations which proved that “Global Warming” is a really big lie. I said that if they’re lying about that, then they’re probably lying about everything else, which they are. If discussion of a “problem” comes out of a TV or a newspaper then most of it is a lie. Just imagine the hostility of those whose livelihoods depend on a lie.

I once did the heating days investigation to better model the heat losses from our house.

Now wondering if a lot of that data has been fashionably and quietly “revised”? Who would ever catch that deception? Not many.
