A short response to some of the comments on “This Article Is for White People”

This is comment number 356 on Holly O’s article. Since her article is no longer featured, that comment may not be read by anyone at all, so I’m reposting here:

I am the friend to whom Holly O referred in her article. Incidentally, I’m also the source of the recommendation for Bohemian Rhapsody, a fine movie. I know things nobody else here does, and I believe her 100 percent. Some of the comments and vitriol directed towards her in these comments reach new TBP lows. The absence of comments from people Holly has regarded as friends is disheartening, but also revealing. This is what I wrote to her after she posted her article:

As for your veracity, people are going to think whatever they’re going to think. Your story made perfect sense to me when you related it. It still does, not because every detail is crystal clear and consistent, but because they’re not. If you made it all up that wouldn’t be the case. Memory, as study after study has demonstrated, is sketchy, contradictory, and often unreliable, especially in high-stress situations. My legal advice was to not tell your story to anyone, but I had a feeling it would eventually find its way into an essay. I think you’re protected because I can’t imagine the men you whacked going to the police.

That is all I have to say on this matter.

Loyalty is one of the rarest virtues of our time. I salute your integrity and respect your judgement.

I don’t doubt the story as much as I do the decision to publicize the fact, especially the destruction of the bat. That seemed foolish on the first count, borderline criminal on the second, but I certainly understand the way things unfold in the moment. Holly is in a country that has betrayed her allegiance and loyalty and while it is bad for us in the USA, it is far worse on Airstrip One. I can only imagine the degree of fear and paranoia she must have to endure just for thinking and writing things that dissent from The State and it’s draconian and ever changing legalisms. Imagine having to deal with a physical assault by someone intending you harm and knowing that the law is on their side. Ah, perfidious Albion.

So when I read it I chose to believe it was metaphorical if only for her sake. If the Eye of Sauron is already on her, so that if she mentions something in the manner she did, I assume she intended it to be a cautionary tale rather than as an eyewitness testimony. And either way she is still a damned fine storyteller.

Ode to Holly O
by Not Bobbie Gentry

It was sometime in February when Holly stopped on the platform to play
I was out feeding animals and my husband was stacking hay
And at dinner time we stopped and we walked back to the house to eat
And I hollered at the back door “Honey, remember to wipe your feet”
And then I turned on my computer and saw that Holly O had posted on the burning bridge
I told my husband Holly O from UK might have murdered someone near London Bridge

And then my husband said to No One when he heard about smashing knees
“Well, Holly O never had a lick of sense, pass the biscuits, please”
“There’s five more acres in the lower forty I’ve got to plow”
So I told my husband it was a shame about Holly O anyhow.
Seems like nothin’ ever comes to no good around that burning bridge
And now Holly O from UK might have murdered someone near London Bridge

Interesting response. I too applaud steadfast friendship. We should all be so lucky as to have someone in the world who believes us. But that does not mean that what Holly Ollivander wrote was anything other than a fiction. If it was not a fiction, then it is a confession. A confession penned in her own hand and broadcast to the world over TBP. If anyone in Wales comes forward with an injury, or if anyone in Wales has been found dead in the woods, Holly Ollivander will be the one arrested and charged with the crime. Given the number of muslims invading England, it is very likely that one or two of them might just come in and report that they were the ones attacked in that woods that day and then where would holly ollivander and her cat book be? Well, she might actually be in jail right now for clubbing innocent people or maybe she is in jail right now for incitement to violence.

You can believe her if you like, but apparently your friendship did not encourage her to publish through your blog, but rather through TBP. I will side with HSF on this one and hope that it is a work of fiction…well written or not.

Ribert – you say “Some of the comments and vitriol directed towards her in these comments reach new TBP lows.”

You have zero idea what you are talking about. Zero. This place is the wild west at times, and what was said on the latest Holly thread barely, and I mean barely, scratched the surface of what has, can, and will happen around here at times. I personally suggested that perhaps people should take her at her word on that thread. But shit happens. Her honesty was questioned. That was to be expected by her, if she had given it any thought at all, and you should have expected it, too.

Whenever someone puts up an article on this site, they are taking a chance that the monkeys will go apeshit. In all seriousness, the monkeys barely screeached at her. They could just have easily torn her to complete shreds. Her previous history moderated the response, in my opinion.

Re the absence of comments being disheartening, she needs to grow up. That either signifies something, or nothing. It reveals exactly zero. You saying otherwise is absurd. As you well know, silence is not evidence of anything.

If she cannot take the heat, she should indeed stay out of the TBP kitchen. Or not. Up to her.

And you really should consider what TBP was, is, and will be. This place can get far, far more vitriolic and low than what you saw on that thread. And that is an understatement. If she is sensitive, TBP may be a place she wants to avoid, because there is always a risk that things will go truly ugly. And I assure you, the comments on that thread were not as ugly as has appeared here many, many times.

I believe in the storyline as story telling. And it begs a decision to believe or not. Either way i am reminded of what is important. A bearded axe atop an ash bat? – an offense or defense? Too much imagination on my part?

Was she hunting acorns of scorn that feeds foreign and feral interlopers come to sprout evil upon her spiritual and home domain? And makes it unsafe for females – who live with fear and threats of abuse and worse. It is sad to witness.

I cheer for our little red riding hood who fought off the big bad wolves – even if only figuratively.

She was hunting for mushrooms and wild garlic in the short days of January. Yet the leaves were still crunchy when they should have been soggy or at least wet. Somebody had tried to turn them into compost piles out in the forest. The ‘attackers’ leaped through or over these piles and she heard the crunch of the leaves. She was on the ground, drew her bat from a capped tube, knee-capped the first dude, stood up, clubbed the second guy and returned to beat the first guy’s head to a pulp before any threat had been communicated (except the guy had a knife which he dropped).

She writes a long tract inspired by a movie which helps her release some pent up emotions regarding muzzies and by the way, I killed a couple of them a few weeks ago. Couple this with a prior thriller about cops at the door and her rapid motions to hide incriminating evidence and you begin to wonder if she always lives a life of danger. I can’t imagine Admin writing an article this way. I think he would have put the ‘assault’ story in the intro and then added the tract about the superior race that was inspired by a movie about a faggot.

EC: If I had been a skeptic, I might have asked these type questions:

1) would an average woman be able to take an average guy down with a bat? Especially if the guy was intent on doing her harm? And armed with a knife? Answer: hell no.

2) would an average woman be able to do so against two men? Hell no.

3) what do I think my chances would have been against same? Poor. Baseball bats are dangerous if they hit just right. But they are slow, with a wide arc, and gotta land just right. If they do, they do a lot of damage. But odds are not great for a knockout blow. A bat would be best wielded like a pugil stick, if one were trained in such, for butt strokes, jabs and the like.

4) what are the odds I would confess to this, to anyone, much less broadcast it to thousands, where my real name is known? Zero is the answer.

5) Would I confess to destroying evidence? Hell no.

6) my memory is vague here, but didn’t Holly write some fantastical article relatively recently? I might have questioned here mental state of mind in general, given that it might not be a coincidence.

7) I might question entirely her state of mind for publishing this given the above. It seems irrational to me.

8) etc.

I suggest Holly got off lightly given what might have been said on that thread, if the monkeys really wanted to question that story.

Emil

Emil – have you watched the average woman swing a bat? Have you much experience swinging a bat? The average woman cannot swing a bat with any authority. I can swing one well indeed, and I would not especially like my chances against a guy with a knife. The best defence then is that the guy reconsiders, given the odds of getting clouted are good, but not nearly certain. If a guy with a knife survives the first swing, and gets inside the arc, it is over.

What would I take in bat vs knife? Knife every time. Against an average woman with a bat, the average man does not need anything. Seriously, get a clue.

just a few facts on your comments ( forensic analysis?)–not about the story itself— I live in the lower northeast, we have had snow and rain all winter–the leaves under and around bushes remain crunchy all winter….secondly, I have wild mushrooms growing on and around fallen wood and logs–and garlic is usually planted in the fall, the bulbs root and slow-grow over the winter and are harvested in early spring……all of your examples of what she wrote are not only plausibly true but actually quite likely.

There is a reply to a comment to a reply someone made here and I am up between rainstorms and am not going to go find it so if I plagiarize someone or misquote, complaints should be directed to Admin, along with a twenty dollar processing fee.

Now, someone along the line above or below said that “if it sounds like something that happened in a movie, it is probably false.” (Again, 20 dollars to complain.)

That is really profound. Really.

Every story about everything fits. If you didn’t see it happen, it is always a story that could have happened in a movie.

Even if you filmed it. Then, it really is a movie.

I have always believed Holly embellished some details here and there, as we all do from time to time to “make it work.” It is called “Factionalization” of the story. By treating actual events with fictional techniques of writing emotional reactions to those events can be controlled and modified. It is all part of industry building.

Do you think only advertisers and public relations gurus followed the work of Edward Bernays and Freud? Honestly, Doug, after all the research you’ve obviously done over the past few years, along with the tremendous skill you’ve developed with your feather quill and ink pot, have you answered your own question yet?

Maybe I missed something due to my skim reading and impatience. I did re read the story (before it was removed?) and it was not at all clear where the bearded axe fit in. I once wielded the family bearded-battle-axe that belonged to Claude von Muyden the Swiss diplomat/banker who brokered the Korean armistice. The patina told me it was centuries old. The ash bat that it sat atop was about 32 inches long and the fearsome blade was close to a foot of slicing power.

I unsheathed his century old Calvary saber too.

I imagine a skilled swordsman would take an attacker who had a bearded axe. A longer reach and all that. Maybe you warriors have an opinion.

The dimensions of her narrative change if you consider what I imagine.

The bearded axe is a dog whistle device, it was extraneous information.

“According to Chekhov,” Tamaru said, rising from his chair, “once a gun appears in a story, it has to be fired.”
“Meaning what?”
“Meaning, don’t bring unnecessary props into a story. If a pistol appears, it has to be fired at some point. Chekhov liked to write stories that did away with all useless ornamentation.”

The Last, Wild Ride of Britannia

Much like television and movies, the Internet is dominated by American voices. As a consequence, I often encounter some variation on the following refrain of frustration posing as sneering dismissal regarding what is seen to be an insolvable problem:

Yeah, well, it’s only the Limeys. They’re all just cucks with a queen and
socialised medicine and no free speech and no weapons. Plus we
saved their asses in dubyadubyatoo and we’re not doing it again. They
deserve everything they’re getting.

I step back, close my eyes and see a larger picture: an empire that transcends British, Canadian, American, Australian and Kiwi. We aren’t allowed to discuss this empire anymore unless in the most pejorative of terms, and are first discouraged, then threatened if we ever point out any positive aspect of it. We who can claim blood kinship to this empire are now expected to crawl and cower and apologise for being born the way we are. This empire is the most remarkable, adaptable, astonishing, beautiful, innovative race recorded history has ever seen, and these days it has a target on its back. If you are white and speak English, hark this: you are marked. You’re in the Devil’s fattening pen. In the firing line. On the chopping block. And no one is coming to rescue you.

Bea (attitudes) comes to mind for some reason… what my Poppa called The Blesseds.

So, I think you’ve read them and commented on them from time to time. Especially the one about the CERN ceremony and the doorway to other realms. At one point, I think we were discussing a fictional trio of books written (and targeting) for “young adult” readers.

His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman won several awards for Children’s Literature. His writing influenced all of our children’s thinking if they read books or played video games based on Pullman’s Dark Materials. To be perfectly honest (and not embellish with details which may or may not be exact but seem to work) I don’t know if some of the zombified creatures we see around us on television and on the streets result from Pullman’s vision of severed souls and stolen children but Someone or Something bigger than anything we understand caused it.

There, now I shall return to my bed and put my cold feet on my husbands legs, causing him to roll away so I can transfer the early morning chill to his backside.

How much time of yours did I waste?

is putting the cold feet on your husband something all women do?
i thought it was only my wife who was that cruel–
after we were married & we had our 1st real night of cold here,i was in bed & heard a stifled giggle from my wife at the same moment a blast of antarctica ripped thru my leg where she had placed her foot–
does having cold feet mean that you have a cold heart?
shouldn’t these things be disclosed b4 marriage?
if those cold feet cause a guy to have a heart attack & die, should criminal charges be filed?

Double D- Thanks for the lecture mom. I’m a “lets get down to business” person, I’m sure you have noticed I dislike trumped up drama of all sorts. My best to that lady, read her offerings one and all, I’ll stick with the meatier plate (less fluff).

i’ve always sensed that there’s something just not right in these articles, but i could never put my finger on it,though now i believe that i have–

No, that last was the decoy. I hope all is well with our mutual friend.

One Hundred! And that is all I have to say on the matter.
