Why You Need a Gun

Via The Smallest Minority

From Facebook:

A couple years ago I was working security at a bar in northern Virginia. I overheard a table of college kids arguing about gun rights and gun control and it was getting far too emotional so I did what any sane combat veteran would do and attempted to exfiltrate. I must not have withdrawn as surreptitiously as I intended, because I was stopped in my tracks when a 5-foot-nothing brunette seemingly leapt in front of me and blurted out “excuse me, can you help us?”

I’m sure I must have looked irritated as I cycled through the possible quips and excuses I considered available to me but being uncertain that she wasn’t some Senator’s daughter, I caved: “What’s up?”

She basically leads me to this table of 2 other females (probably both named Karen) and a very soft looking male.

Becky: “So, we were just talking about current events and, you know. So, you look like you’re probably in the military, right? Like the Army?”

(When you accuse someone of being in the military you probably don’t need to give an example)

Me: “Similar.. yea”

Becky: “Right. Okay. So, do you think civilians should be allowed to own guns?”

Me: “Most of us. Yes.”

Becky: (clearly not happy with my answer) “Okay, so, why do you think you need a gun?”

(At this point it’s almost 2am and I’ve just given up on patience. Hold my beer)

(With intentionally overt condescension): “Oh, honey, I don’t. I don’t need a gun.”

Becky stares at me blankly, so I continue, but with a more serious tone:

“I could follow you home, walk up your driveway, and beat you to death with the daily newspaper.

I could choke you to death with that purse.

I could take a credit card, break it in half, and cut your throat open with it.

With enough time and effort I could beat your boyfriend here with a rolled up pair of socks.

I could probably dream up six dozen other ways I could easily end your life if you gave me an hour or so.

If I wanted to, I could wrap my hand around that beer mug and kill all four of you before you could make it to the exit. The worst part is, in your utopian little fantasyland, there ain’t a thing any of you could do about it.

I don’t need a gun.

You need a gun.

You need a gun because of men like me.”

Call me a jerk, but if you want to keep your guns, these are the conversations we all need to start having.

Brilliant. I hope Becky and her GFs and her boyfriend didn’t cry, though.

Speaking of gun ownership…it seems little Marco Rubio and his buddy Lindsey Graham are pushing red flag gun laws, meaning seizure of guns without due process…article below…

2 Weeks ago I ran a 3gun course 1:31 with only a single 5 second penalty. ar/ksg/439 smith. I am down almost 2 minutes from last year when I started.

You need a gun ( or 3 ) and you need to PRACTICE.

I have a number, I prefer my Walther, however I have others I bought my last, a .25 at a yard sale 60 bucks with two boxes of ammo (love the south) , not for my self, but for my sister or my sister or my sister, it sits in my safe, none have fired a pistol but eventually they will all need one, I also bought a 380 beretta from a guy, who knows a guy who “found” it in Italy in 1944, for well for later for who ever.

I know they need to train, but that just is not happening, but at least they will “just have something” when the time comes, and it is coming.

I also have a tricked out AR15, not for me but for my nephew, who currently lives behind the wire in Massachusetts, he will need it if he makes it south, it is similar to what he carried around when Uncle sent him to that large sandy beach with out an ocean.

Because as Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn wrote

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

I’ve been practicing steel plates up close. The idea has been to simulate having to draw and fire at six-12 literally as fast as I can pull the trigger. Six when I am alone and twelve when I have a helper to pull the reset rope on the plates. The idea is to take out a crowd at up close and personal range were I facing Ayoob’s “gravest extreme.”
At this point I can say a bunch of idiots assaulting me, even in a group are going to have a real bad day. As a caveat, I haven’t had this happen (yet) with 9mm, but I recently had a 230 grain fmj .45 bounce back and hit me square in the forehead, so always have your safety glasses etc.

HR,am doing the opposite in a way but practicing, shot a new to me 9 and 40 a few months back and hit steel 16×24 at 100 yards 6-7 times out of 10,for me a awakening moment that I can hit at longer ranges with a hand gun and working on getting 10-10,I am also really hoping at 100 yards will not have steel plate blowback!

Damn do I know how this guy feels. I’ll bet big money that he was working in Arlington. Likely Clarendon Ballroom or maybe Grill. Maybe Mister Days. The amount of money these dipshit Millennials have up there does not buy them brains. Sure, they have Master’s in political administration, but it didn’t teach them how to solve problems! Fucking miscreants.

These types of articles piss me off to no end because the bouncer is of course 100% correct, AND the discussion shouldn’t be necessary in my beloved Commonwealth! I remember being with a close friend in 2003 in Clarendon Grill and the entire crowd cheering as they watched the Iraq war live. IIRC it was 19 MAR when GEN Franks was rolling the tanks toward Baghdad faster than Genghis Khan’s keshigs EVER did. 1-2 weeks’ time from Basra, if memory serves? I also recall telling my buddy at the time that our nation was doomed…to be cheering for a war of aggression under obviously false pretenses, with the utter slaughter of innocents (both directly and indirectly via the power vacuum) oncoming…

I saw just the other day that the Pentagon presented GW Bush a paper which predicted every f’d up thing that happened , if we invaded Iraq in 2002.
I have personal knowledge that a lot of what we were told pre-Iraq was a lie because a friend who retired as a full Bird was prepositioning stores over there just a few months after GW was inaugurated.
We were played.

The ironic thing is that I was a Democrat at that time and a lot of people who then called themselves conservatives (and obviously, Republicans) thought I was a terrorist-sympathizing, Saddam-apologist America hater. Now that I have evolved politically and am firmly on the right (including being a legal firearms owner), I maintain my opposition to illegal wars, but when I called out people who supported Barack Obama (some going as far as to publicize on social media that they cried when Obama gave his farewell address in Chicago days before President Donald Trump took office) for ignoring the fact Obama was at war every single day of his presidency, having unleashed over 20,000 bombs in his final year as president, I was ignored and even spoken to sarcastically.

I say this to highlight how people are so utterly blinded by the team they pick and the folks they cheer for. Sadly, a lot of those who are my fellow conservatives are this way with Trump. I did vote for him and am supportive of him despite some disagreements, but I do not idolize the man and know when he does/says things he shouldn’t (seize arms first before due process).

Iraq was a farce. Colin Powell and Condolezza Rice both said in 2001 that Saddam Hussein was contained and that he didn’t present a national security threat to neighboring states. Osama Bin Laden denounced Hussein for the 1990 invasion of Kuwait, denounced him as an “infidel,” and even wanted a holy Muslim army to rise up to evict Saddam’s troops from Kuwait. Hussein furthermore used his security forces to arrest, torture, and kill more Islamic militants than will ever be known; he was a secular ruler in the mold of very many other Third World despots U.S. foreign policy has aided and abetted since 1945. Hussein himself was a U.S. ally when Hussein and Ayatollah Khomeini were trying to off each other during 1980-1988; it was oil which ruined Hussein’s usefulness as a puppet.

The millenials in the story have one thing in common with the dozens of thousands of 20-something, 30-something, and even 40-something liberals/leftists/progressives who pout and cry and squeal over “social justice,” wrong pronouns, and ICE’s detention of illegal aliens: they have essentially no grasp of history.

Tell them the Ku Klux Klan was the terrorist army of the postbellum Democratic Party in the South and that the Klan lynched whites who helped freed blacks vote Republican and you’ll be looked at as if you have a third eye.

Tell them Martin Luther King Jr. was a notorious plagiarist who also engaged in numerous orgies with white prostitutes (several of whom he beat aggressively) and you’ll be called a racist.

Tell them that the Native Americans were not exactly living idyllic existences in what is now the U.S. before the English arrived and that while many were peaceful, many others were in a perpetual state of war with each other, with actions tantamount to war crimes perpetrated by victorious tribes over vanquished ones, and they’ll tell you that the white man is an illegal immigrant.

Tell them that there was a slave trade even more brutal and cruel than the Trans-Atlantic trade, whereby Muslims/Arabs took thousands and thousands of blacks to the Middle East (by foot, thus ensuring many died en route) and castrating almost all of the ones who made it alive (so they could serve as palace eunuchs), AND that there is no history of civil rights and emancipation for African slaves in the Middle East because unlike in the antebellum American South, there was no culture of guilt, repentance, confession of sin, fear of God, and a desire to raise the black man to a level of greater dignity in the Middle East, and you’ll again be called a bigot and a racist.

And for those who wish to read it, the memo spoken of can be downloaded here: https://carnegieendowment.org/pdf/back-channel/2002MemotoPowell6.pdf.

With the single change that pre-Sept11 I was not a Democrat, my experience and memory of the historical facts is essentially the same as yours. As a small addition, how many people remember that before the invasion of Afghanistan, the Taliban offered to turn over Bin Laden to the World Court for trial? All they asked was that they be shown some evidence that Bin Laden was connected with the attacks of Sept 11 before they extradited him. Also, how many people remember the reports in the Indian news press during the summer of 2001 that the United States was planning to go to war in Afghanistan in the fall? I could go on about all the bits of info that do not fit the official narrative, but anyone interested can dig out more.

There’s a reason OPS are classified. War is planned at least 6 months in advance. It takes time to move the pieces into the right locations on the chessboard. What people see in the MSM is delayed news, LOL.

“but if you want to keep your guns, these are the conversations we all need to start having.”

I recommend caution when engaging in these conversations. In some jurisdictions you could find yourself charged with terroristic threat or stalking in which case you could lose your gun rights. Even if you’re acquitted, you might play hell getting your confiscated guns back. And anyone living in a state with a red flag law should avoid such conversations entirely.

Regarding your response “Most of us. Yes.”, who would you exclude and how does that fit with “shall not be infringed”? Just curious.

Just happened to see an old Lone Ranger show this morning while waiting for it to warm up some outside. In it were a couple of plots, one being selling stolen Army rifles to the Indians. This was a particular hideous crime it seems. Appears like the poor Indians should not have firearms to protect home and family. I guess with the Lone Ranger’s (and Tonto’s) train of thought being that the American Government would have a harder time stealing the Indian’s land and annihilation of the Native population if they were armed.

I don’t bother with attempting to communicate to the willfully ignorant anymore. They don’t want a means of defending themselves, so be it. I’m no fan of guns, I don’t lovingly caress or glorify in them. For me they’re a tool, a means of self defense, a great equalizer. If someone is anti-gun and want me to suffer for their biases and lack of common sense then I will push back against them real hard, stand up against them and basically tell them to go f*uck themselves.

The sum total of my conversation with lil Becky would’ve been “Thanks but no thanks… I don’t debate with morons.” Or words to that effect. Generally I just refuse to engage and try to rebuff without pushing them into a ‘face-saving’ situation. It’s a complete exercise in futility to think I will make ANY difference in village idiot world-view. Not worth my time. And they sure as Hell aren’t going to change my mind. So what’s the use?
And keep walking away. Anything else is a waste of time. After that, whatever happens is her/their choice. Best case scenario is that they call me asshole or whatever, and let me go on my way. If confronted (you know, getting in front of me to stop me and scream in my face,or whatever other physical escalation), they probably would be real aware real fast that maybe they just need to leave me be.
And it won’t be long before I can continue to go where I’m going.
