Blowback Is a Harsh Mistress

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

In this universe of paradox, inequity, ironies, and fake-outs one strange actuality stands above the rest these days: that the much-reviled President Trump was on the right side of RussiaGate, and the enormous mob of America’s Thinking Class was on the wrong side — and by such a shocking margin of error that they remain in a horrified fugue of outrage and reprisal, apparently unaware that consequences await.

Granted, there’s a lot to not like about Mr. Trump: his life of maximum privilege in a bubble of grifticious wealth; his shady career in the sub-swamp of New York real estate; his rough, garbled, and childlike manner of speech; his disdain of political decorum, his lumbering bellicosity, his apparently near-total lack of education, and, of course, the mystifying hair-doo. His unbelievable luck in winning the 2016 election can only be explained by the intervention of some malign cosmic force — a role assigned to the Russians. At least that’s how Mr. Trump’s antagonists engineered The Narrative that they have now quadrupled down on.

To make matters worse, this odious President happens to be on the right side of several other political quarrels of the day, at least in terms of principle, however awkwardly he presents it. The Resistance, which is to say the same Thinking Class groomed in the Ivy League and apprenticed in official leadership, has dug in on the idiotic policy position of a de facto open border with Mexico, and embellished that foolish idea with such accessory stupidities as sanctuary cities and free college tuition for non-citizens. Their arguments justifying these positions are wholly sentimental — they’re stuffing little children in cages! — masking a deep undercurrent of dishonesty and cynical opportunism — not to mention putting themselves at odds with the rule-of-law itself.

During the 2016 election campaign, Mr. Trump often averred to forging better relations with Russia. The previous administration had meddled grotesquely in Ukrainian politics, among other things, and scuttled the chance to make common cause with Russia in areas of shared self-interest, for instance, in opposing worldwide Islamic terrorism. This was apparently too much for the US War Lobby, who needed a Russian boogeyman to keep the gravy train of weaponry and profitable interventionist operations chugging along, even if it meant arming Islamic State warriors who were blowing up US troops. Being falsely persecuted from before day one of his term for “collusion with Russia,” Mr. Trump apparently found it necessary to go along with antagonizing Russia via sanctions and bluster, as if to demonstrate he never was “Putin’s Puppet.”

Meanwhile, by some strange process of psychological alchemy, the Thinking Class assigned Islamic radicals to their roster of sacred victims of oppression — so that now it’s verboten to mention them in news reports whenever some new slaughter of innocents is carried out around the world, or to complain about their hostility to Western Civ as a general proposition. Two decades after the obscene 9/11 attacks, the new Democratic Party controlled congress has apparently decided that it’s better to make common cause with Islamic Radicalism than with a Russia that is, in actuality, no longer the Soviet Union but rather just another European nation trying to make it through the endgame of the industrial age, like everybody else.

The Thinking Class behind the bad faith Resistance, is about to be beaten within an inch of its place in history with an ugly-stick of reality as The Narrative finally comes to be fairly adjudicated. The Mueller Report was much more than just disappointing; it was a comically inept performance insofar as it managed to overlook the only incidence of collusion that actually took place: namely, the disinfo operation sponsored by the Hillary Clinton campaign in concert with the highest officials of the FBI, the Department of Justice, State Department personnel, the various Intel agencies, and the Obama White house for the purpose of interfering in the 2016 election. It will turn out that the Mueller Investigation was just an extension of that felonious op, and Mr. Mueller himself may well be subject to prosecution for destroying evidence and, yes, obstruction of justice.

John F. Kennedy once observed that “life is unfair.” It is unfair, perhaps, that a TV Reality Show huckster, clown, and rank outsider beat a highly credentialed veteran of the political establishment and that he flaunts his lack of decorum in the Oval Office. But it happens that he was on the side of the truth in the RussiaGate farrago and that happens to place him in a position of advantage going forward.

Libtards never admit defeat.
They just keep ranting and raving.
Impossible to talk reason with a screeching hysteric.
Emotions trump logic.
Dope slap to the head is the only solution, like the inevitable forced return to the closet by the flaunting deviants.

If whT Joe DiGenva said is true the NPCs will crack.

DiGenva said the FISA Court discovered 4 contractors that were hired to do electrical survalance on Republican candidates before Trump was the nominee.

If that’s the case shouldn’t the Democrat Party be prohibited cor running for office?

I see the hinge in all of this ‘Blowback’ is Barr…former CIA…hard core Bush loyalist…anti gun globalists toadie…a man covered with swamp moss, not skin.

He will swing the door of juctice open or closed a little or a lot depending on his orders and what deals, truces, betrayals or ambushes he is told to do or told to pursue or told to allow.

A rethreaded old Bushie tire brought in to broker the Trump – Bush truce. Have no idea of the terms…but highly suspect it is in play.

However, the NeoCons Chicken Hawks may be planning their greatest move to date:

1. Iran Warns False Flag “Accident” Could “Lure” Trump Into War

2. WHITE HOUSE INSIDER: War with Iran planned by Trump, to occur in the Fall of 2019 Tactical nukes and ground invasion planned for Iran, according whistleblower

https://israeltodaynews.blogspot.com/2019/04/iran-war-planned-by-trump-2019.html

Further details have been revealed, including:
-100 tactical nukes will be used to eliminate the Iranian military.
-120,000 U.S. ground troops will be used in the invasion.
– France, the U.K., Canada, Saudi Arabia and Israel are expected to join a “coalition” in support of
the war.
– CIA assets and counter-intel efforts have been ramped-up over the past year in preparation.
– A “False Flag” is being prepared to be used before the war with Iran.
– Propaganda is being prepped by White House and Israeli counterparts.
– Israel will support the effort and Benjamin Netanyahu was reportedly “smiling ear to ear” during – a recent meeting with John Bolton.
– There are concerns Trump’s “base” may resist or criticize the efforts, so further propaganda
efforts are being made to “shore up support” for the war.
– Expected casualties range between 1.2 Million and 2 Million Iranians and 5,000 US troops.

Not to bring up bad blood, but it’s exactly situations like this that make me ask the question….

Why should we hero worship or revere our men/women in the military? They aren’t heroes. They are pawns and need our help getting red-pilled.

Jezzzz Donkey…the scab is still there from my last PTSD flying fiddlers flip out…after the VA head shrinkers finally chased me down and managed to get a giant butterfly net over me…they told me to stopping blogging with you…unless I finally agreed to start taking meds twice a day instead of martinis and cigars.

Me, I treat them with ‘Warrior’ acknowledgement on their personal level (once I know their story) of them coming through their personal crucible and my mutual survivor’s respect. (Not just in combat, the military is a dangerous place just in training, people die all the time getting ready to die).

Warriors know all the hero bullshit is bullshit. Screw the Red Pill I have given a few (when it was appropriate and their wounds were not still raw…and for some that time never comes) a copy of ‘War is a Racket’ the original Black Pill, by the greatest Marine who ever lived.

Warriors in this country follow civilian orders…many of us know more about those orders now, and the people behind them than ever in our collective past. However, that is individual knowledge and insight, so I approach it individually and carefully with Veterans. I do not believe in pouring salt on anyone’s wounds.

Warriors from my discipline live by their own code.

If you’re curious here are the big picture details.

MARINE CORPS LEADERSHIP TRAITS
The 14 leadership traits are qualities of thought and action which, if demonstrated in daily activities, help Marines earn the respect, confidence, and loyal cooperation of other Marines. It is extremely important that you understand the meaning of each leadership trait and how to develop it, so you know what goals to set as you work to become a good leader and a good follower.

(Hero worship phzzzzzt…those two words make Combat Veterans laugh and sneer….we hold valuable what other Warriors did when they covered our six and what we did fighting next to our buddies – there is a lot of good, bad, ugly and horrorific beyond words in war).

This is how we are trained to conduct ourselves and how we JUDGE ONE ANOTHER as leaders.

JUSTICE
Definition: Justice is defined as the practice of being fair and consistent. A just person gives consideration to each side of a situation and bases rewards or punishments on merit.

Suggestions for Improvement: Be honest with yourself about why you make a particular decision. Avoid favoritism. Try to be fair at all times and treat all things and people in an equal manner.

JUDGMENT
Definition: Judgment is your ability to think about things clearly, calmly, and in an orderly fashion so that you can make good decisions.

Suggestions for Improvement: You can improve your judgment if you avoid making rash decisions. Approach problems with a common sense attitude.

DEPENDABILITY
Definition: Dependability means that you can be relied upon to perform your duties properly. It means that you can be trusted to complete a job. It is the willing and voluntary support of the policies and orders of the chain of command. Dependability also means consistently putting forth your best effort in an attempt to achieve the highest standards of performance.

Suggestions for Improvement: You can increase your dependability by forming the habit of being where you’re supposed to be on time, by not making excuses and by carrying out every task to the best of your ability regardless of whether you like it or agree with it.

INITIATIVE
Definition: Initiative is taking action even though you haven’t been given orders. It means meeting new and unexpected situations with prompt action. It includes using resourcefulness to get something done without the normal material or methods being available to you.

Suggestions for Improvement: To improve your initiative, work on staying mentally and physically alert. Be aware of things that need to be done and then to do them without having to be told.

DECISIVENESS
Definition: Decisiveness means that you are able to make good decisions without delay. Get all the facts and weight them against each other. By acting calmly and quickly, you should arrive at a sound decision. You announce your decisions in a clear, firm, professional manner.

Suggestions for Improvement: Practice being positive in your actions instead of acting half-heartedly or changing your mind on an issue.

TACT
Definition: Tact means that you can deal with people in a manner that will maintain good relations and avoid problems. It means that you are polite, calm, and firm.

Suggestions for Improvement: Begin to develop your tact by trying to be courteous and cheerful at all times. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

INTEGRITY
Definition: Integrity means that you are honest and truthful in what you say or do. You put honesty, sense of duty, and sound moral principles above all else.

Suggestions for Improvement: Be absolutely honest and truthful at all times. Stand up for what you believe to be right.

ENTHUSIASM
Definition: Enthusiasm is defined as a sincere interest and exuberance in the performance of your duties. If you are enthusiastic, you are optimistic, cheerful, and willing to accept the challenges.
Suggestions for Improvement: Understanding and belief in your mission will add to your enthusiasm for your job. Try to understand why even uninteresting jobs must be done.

BEARING
Definition: Bearing is the way you conduct and carry yourself. Your manner should reflect alertness, competence, confidence, and control.

Suggestions for Improvement: To develop bearing, you should hold yourself to the highest standards of personal conduct. Never be content with meeting only the minimum requirements.

UNSELFISHNESS
Definition: Unselfishness means that you avoid making yourself comfortable at the expense of others. Be considerate of others. Give credit to those who deserve it.
Suggestions for Improvement: Avoid using your position or rank for personal gain, safety, or pleasure at the expensive of others. Be considerate of others.

COURAGE
Definition: Courage is what allows you to remain calm while recognizing fear. Moral courage means having the inner strength to stand up for what is right and to accept blame when something is your fault. Physical courage means that you can continue to function effectively when there is physical danger present.

Suggestions for Improvement: You can begin to control fear by practicing self-discipline and calmness. If you fear doing certain things required in your daily life, force yourself to do them until you can control your reaction.

KNOWLEDGE
Definition: Knowledge is the understanding of a science or art. Knowledge means that you have acquired information and that you understand people. Your knowledge should be broad, and in addition to knowing your job, you should know your unit’s policies and keep up with current events.

Suggestions for Improvement: Suggestions for Improvement: Increase your knowledge by remaining alert. Listen, observe, and find out about things you don’t understand. Study field manuals and other military literature.

LOYALTY
Definition: Loyalty means that you are devoted to your country, the Corps, and to your seniors, peers, and subordinates. The motto of our Corps is Semper Fidelis!, (Always Faithful). You owe unwavering loyalty up and down the chain of command, to seniors, subordinates, and peers.

Suggestions for Improvement: To improve your loyalty you should show your loyalty by never discussing the problems of the Marine Corps or your unit with outsiders. Never talk about seniors unfavorably in front of your subordinates. Once a decision is made and the order is given to execute it, carry out that order willingly as if it were your own.

ENDURANCE
Definition: Endurance is the mental and physical stamina that is measured by your ability to withstand pain, fatigue, stress, and hardship. For example, enduring pain during a conditioning march in order to improve stamina is crucial in the development of leadership.

Suggestions for Improvement: Develop your endurance by engaging in physical training that will strengthen your body. Finish every task to the best of your ability by forcing yourself to continue when you are physically tired and your mind is sluggish.

Because it is important to always be able to remember the basic leadership traits, the acronym “J.J. DID TIE BUCKLE” is used. Each letter in the acronym corresponds to the first letter of one of the traits. By remembering the acronym, you will be better able to recall the traits.

I’m an Army brat, grew up on bases across the globe. What you write is important for others to understand. During Nam the recruits were drafted, no volunteering there. The band of brothers was the motivation. For many others it was a way to get away from less-than-ideal conditions and maybe learn a skill or two and then there was the GI bill, if you survived you got educated on taxpayer dime.
My Father used to say his job description ultimately boiled down to being paid for killing people when ordered to do so.

Thanks My Girl, your right about the GI Bill, I have used it for education and buying homes, but check out number 4 on who actually fought in Nam.

Last August I was asked to give a speech at a Purple Heart Dinner honoring 76 Purple Heart recipients from 5 wars. I represented the Nam Vets who were about 85% of the combat vets there at this point in time.

The stats below were carefully researched and were part of my overall intentionally positive speech to 75 veterans and over 600 of their family and friends.

1. Of the 2,709,918 Americans who served in Vietnam, Less than 850,000 are estimated to be alive today, with the youngest Nam Vet being about 60 years old.

If you’re a Nam Vet today you are part of the last 1/3rd of all the U.S. Veterans who served in Vietnam. I believe Agent Orange is taking its toll far, far past the battlefield.

2. 1 out of 10 Americans who went to Vietnam became a causality. In my Grunt Company that was 1 out of every 3 . The average Vietnam Grunt was in combat for 240 days during a full tour of duty

3. Vietnam Veterans represented 9.7% of their generation.

4. 2/3rds of the men who fought in Vietnam Volunteered.

5. The unemployment rate for Vietnam vets was only 4.8% in 1987, compared to the 6.2% rate for the rest of America.

6. Vietnam Veterans’ personal income exceeds that of the same non-veteran age group by more than 18 percent.

7. Today 87% of Americans hold Vietnam Veterans in high esteem.

8. There is no difference in drug usage between Vietnam Veterans and non-Vietnam Veterans of the same age group.

9. Vietnam Veterans are less likely to be in prison – only one-half of one percent of Vietnam Veterans have been jailed for crimes.

10. 85% of Vietnam Veterans made successful transitions to civilian life.

11. 97% of Vietnam Veterans were honorably discharged.

12. 91% of Vietnam Veterans say they are glad they served.

(I’m not one of the Nam Vets in number 12. I don’t like sleeping with Ghosts).

FLEA,

Yea It would have been a different life without coming of age in war. I often day dream of how different it and I would have been?

Here is the last poem I wrote after I had vomited it all out on paper. Writting saved my life. I know it impacted yours too.

DONKEY,

This is also all I have to your persistent question:

“Why should we hero worship or revere our men/women in the military? They aren’t heroes.”

Survivors like me and Flea never asked for or expected from you or anyone else anything. You have to stop putting all veterans in some singular glory seeking group. We were/are just young cogs in a big machine and most of us didn’t/don’t have a long shelf life. Go after the machine…I’ll help you.

WHILE STRUGGLING TO BE STRONG
Too painful to remember
too horrific to forget

Flashbacks of the past
but then again yet

Can it be the trials
and prices that were paid

Add up to the sum
of the man I am today?

And can it be in fire
too much best not known was learned

While struggling to be strong
desperate survival was earned

Then coming of age
The man I am was born

And it seems the aftermath will never end
And those not there ever comprehend

The cost…

End of Poem

Here is my respectful Ode to Siegfried Sassoon and a disrespectful ode to to All the NeoCons and Chicken Hawks.

SUICIDE IN A JUNGLE FIGHTING HOLE
I knew a simple teenage Marine boy
Who grinned at life in empty joy…
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In a Nam jungle fighting hole, bleeding fleeting hope
With mortar crumps so close he couldn’t cope
He put a bullet through his brain.
No one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced NeoCons and Chicken Hawks
with soft bellies and narrow eyes
Who cheer when Marine Boys march by,
Sneak home and pray you’ll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Most excellent. You got me thinking back to being home getting that sick feeling at parades knowing we didn’t get one and nobody wanted me in one. The shame is what is happening to today’s vets from yet another bankers war. We got some residual Orange and napalm but these kids are getting irradiated and who knows what else.
Donkey blindsided me when he posted that. I never expected anything like that on TBP. Oh well.

Flea,

Well, there was the time I saw a line forming at a bunker on bridge duty and I hurried to get in it. I was last in line out of six Marines.

Everyone was excited and I was hoping to get an overdue package from my Mom…I was expecting cans of Dinty Moore Beef Stew. Man, the line was moving slow…finally as the one of the Marines ahead of me came out zipping his pants up and the line moved up…I tapped the guy on the shoulder in front of me and found out to my shock there was a Boom Boom girl in the bunker, and it was 10 MPC for a ‘short time’.

This was MALE call…not mail call.

Well, with my steady girlfriend experience from my junior year on I was a veteran of the NJ 1966 to 1968 High School drive in movie backseat sexcapades…we had been like two bunnies in heat, but this was my first time being the caboose in a Marine train in a bunker alongside a village with a name I couldn’t pronounce…and being that shocked caboose completely by accident.

Now, to be candid I might have been interested if I was the engine, in those youthful walnut cracking days…but I never had been or desired to be a caboose.

Being too embarrassed to get out of line when it was my turn I went in.

Well, I don’t know who was less excited about my big ‘short time’ moment…the poor Boom Boom Girl who looked exhausted, was covered in sweat and was furiously wiping herself with a green sweat towel between her legs when I came in or…me…the accidental 19 year old caboose.

She started giving me my ‘short time options’ and I gave her the palms up international ‘traffic cop stop’ hand signal. I sat down next to her on the cot, pulled out a canteen and gave it to her, she drank almost half of it. Then we had a 10 minute conversation that neither one understood much except that I was not interested in causing her any more sweat or wiping with the green sweat towel.

I don’t know who was more relieved…me or her.

When I got up to leave I even tipped her 5 MPC…she gave me a sweet smile and kissed me on the cheek.

Flea, Mark and HSF,

I’m sure I asked the wrong question. My ire comes from all the militaria displayed at games, parades, state funerals and especially on the 4th of July. That combined with story upon story and lie upon lie told to the American public about wars and reasons for wars. It is sickening to see some of our best and strongest young men used as shields for terrible people in power. I feel for men who allow their minds to become nothing more than remote controls for these people. Probably the thing that angers me the most is when a military person tells me they are fighting for my freedoms AS I WATCH my freedoms being flushed down the toilet.

Flea, I understand your anger toward me. I hope you see my point. Yes, I asked the question in the wrong way.

Very interesting take on this whole Russian farce by Chomsky. He points out that the impact of that meager magnitude is dwarfed by israel’s ownership of the u.s. political system as are the corporate pay-offs. So why did the dummo’s latch on to this dog? Some say it’s because they’re stupid. I say is because such decisions are made by their masters and they were just following orders. It was served up by THEM to support trump. I’m running Windows 7, have avoided all the other SNAFUS hiding as Windows upgrade Now get word Microsoft won’t support 7 and must upgrade to 10. Am looking at Apple. Suggestions?

Just because MS doesn’t “support it” it won’t die the next day – I’m running XP on one machine (slow, granted, but functional). I have Win 7 64-bit on my busy machine, still works. Also, some kind of secret? Lots of ATMs run on either XP or 7, MS keeps supporting those so must be a path – an internet search might find them?
Or learn Unix / Linux and find a whole new world, independent of MS …

I have been thinking about Linux for a number of reasons. I got a message from MS stating support for 7 was out by 1/20

I’m thinking of going with one of those Android laptops. I don’t have any secrets on my hard drive so the cloud doesn’t bother me. Just watch some news and music videos and email. I’m sick of windows. My laptop has windows 7. I tried to use my buddies windows 10 and wanted to jump from a bridge for 2 days.

Widows 8 is even worse and 10 is beyond that. This is all MS’s attempt to copy the apple platform. I don’t want apple because I can’t afford and nowdays they have almost as many glitches as MS.

Jim Kunstler’s well-written & excellently coherent articles are mostly the only ones worth reading on TBP. There, I said it.

To make matters worse, this odious President happens to be on the right side of several other political quarrels of the day, at least in terms of principle, however awkwardly he presents it

At least in terms of principle? What?

However awkwardly he presents it? Really?

45 minutes below. Been busy so I missed it last night but in watching today (even as I write this – about half done now) – at least in terms of language and content (we’ll know soon if actions ensue) – stronger than a garlic malt. Just sayin…

Many see the characteristics of POTUS 45 as faults.

LOL – “His unbelievable LUCK in winning the 2016 election can only be explained by the intervention of some malign cosmic force . . .”. Yo CUNTsler, when ya gunna concede that the Trumpster’s prevalence over a career CRIMINAL pathological lying/klepto, serial murdering, int’l grifting, shape-shifting, sulphur-breath, tail dragging Hildabeast, Killary Rotten Felon, just possibly may have been the result of the still-PRODUCTIVE, “fly-over Deplorables” that understood said? That and the Trumpster’s choice of issues to promote and a grueling campaign schedule to those States that HE identified as critical electorally. Such an amazing literary talent subsumed by/to a “DemonRAT/DummyCRAP Ghost” is baffling.
