The Cost of the War on Terror

Since the September 11 terror attacks in the United States, the U.S. has racked up costs of almost $6 trillion in its War on Terror. This is according to a new Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs analysis. Unlike official estimates from the Pentagon, the study takes into account not just Department of Defense costs, but also spending from across the federal government – past and obligated spending for war veterans’ care, for example.

The human cost of the wars in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq is also significant. The upper estimate for deaths caused directly by these conflicts (on all sides, civilian and military) is over 507 thousand. The lower estimate is hardly small, either, coming in at 480 thousand.

Making war is affordable and necessary but making health care affordable and necessary is not. Priorities people, priorities. We got to get them bogeymen over there before they come over here.

You have inadvertently stumbled upon the conundrum of the Neocon: Infinity brown immigration to destroy the West and its people, or infinity wars for Israel by the West and its people.

And where is the pretty graph that depicts the casualties of the war on our civil liberties . . . also caused by the “war on terror”?

Lee Greenwoods song ” Proud to be an American” came to mind but I certainly don’t feel like singing it.

Because you don’t know that you are free.

Slight correction, it’s the war of Terror not the war on Terror.

It’s basically socialism for the shareholders in the MIC. Forced welfare check payments to the weapons manufacturing corporations made by the American people through the barrel of a gun.

War on Terror has only killed bout 1/3000 of mohammedans in theworld. That is very inefficient. Roughly $1,000,000 to kill a mohammedan is way out of line.
