Are Abortion & Gay Rights American Values?

Guest Post by Pat Buchanan

Are Abortion & Gay Rights American Values?

What are these “values” of which politicians incessantly talk? Are they immutable? Or do they change with the changing times?

“My religion defines who I am. And I’ve been a practicing Catholic my whole life,” said Vice President Joe Biden in 2012. “I accept my church’s position on abortion as … doctrine. Life begins at conception. … I just refuse to impose that on others.”

For four decades, Biden backed the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits the use of the tax dollars of Joe’s fellow Catholics to pay for what they view as the killing of the innocent unborn.

Last week, Joe flipped. He now backs the repeal of the Hyde Amendment.

Ilyse Hogue of NARAL Pro-Choice America welcomed home the prodigal son: “We’re pleased that Joe Biden has joined the rest of the 2020 Democratic field in coalescing around the Party’s core values — support for abortion rights.”

But when did the right to an abortion — a crime in many states before 1973 — become a “core value” of the Democratic Party?

And what are these “values” of which politicians incessantly talk?

Are they immutable? Or do they change with the changing times?

Last month, Disney CEO Bob Iger said his company may cease filming in Georgia if its new anti-abortion law takes effect: “If (the bill) becomes law, I don’t see how it’s practical for us to continue to shoot there.”

The Georgia law outlaws almost all abortions, once a heartbeat is detected, some six to eight weeks into pregnancy. It reflects the Christian conservative values of millions of Georgians.

To Iger and Hollywood, however, Georgia’s law radically restricts the “reproductive rights” of women, and is a moral outrage.

What we have here is a clash of values.

What one side believes is preserving the God-given right to life for the unborn, the other regards as an assault on the rights of women.

The clash raises questions that go beyond our culture war to what America should stand for in the world.

“American interests and American values are inseparable,” Pete Buttigieg told Rachel Maddow. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told the Claremont Institute: “We have had too little courage to confront regimes squarely opposed to our interests and our values.”

Are Pompeo and Mayor Pete talking about the same values?

The mayor is proudly gay and in a same-sex marriage. Yet the right to same-sex marriage did not even exist in this country until the Supreme Court discovered it a few years ago.

In a 2011 speech to the U.N., Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, “Gay rights are human rights,” and she approved of U.S. embassies flying the rainbow flag during Pride Month.

This year, Mike Pompeo told the U.S. embassy in Brazil not to fly the rainbow flag. He explained his concept of his moral duty to the Christian Broadcasting Network, “The task I have is informed by my understanding of my faith, my belief in Jesus Christ as the Savior.”

The Christian values Pompeo espouses on abortion and gay rights are in conflict with what progressives now call human rights.

And the world mirrors the American divide.

There are gay pride parades in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, but none in Riyadh and Mecca. In Brunei, homosexuality can get you killed.

To many Americans, diversity — racial, ethnic, cultural, religious — is our greatest strength.

Yet Poland and Hungary are proudly ethnonationalist. South Korea and Japan fiercely resist the racial and ethnic diversity immigration would bring. Catalans and Scots in this century, like Quebecois in the last, seek to secede from nations to which they have belonged for centuries.

Are ethnonationalist nations less righteous than diverse nations likes ours? And if diversity is an American value, is it really a universal value?

Consider the treasured rights of our First Amendment — freedom of speech, religion and the press.

Saudi Arabia does not permit Christian preachers. In Afghanistan and Pakistan, converts to Christianity face savage reprisals. In Buddhist Myanmar, Muslims are ethnically cleansed.

These nations reject an equality of all faiths, believing instead in the primacy of their own majority faith. They reject our wall of separation between religion and state. Our values and their values conflict.

What makes ours right and theirs wrong? Why should our views and values prevail in what are, after all, their countries?

Under our Constitution, many practices are protected — abortion, blasphemy, pornography, flag-burning, trashing religious beliefs — that other nations regard as symptoms of a disintegrating society.

When Hillary Clinton said half of all Trump supporters could be put into a “basket of deplorables” for being “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic,” she was conceding that many Trump’s supporters detest many progressive values.

True, but in the era of Trump, why should her liberal values be the values America champions abroad?

With secularism’s triumph, we Americans have no common religion, no common faith, no common font of moral truth. We disagree on what is right and wrong, moral and immoral.

Without an agreed-upon higher authority, values become matters of opinion. And ours are in conflict and irreconcilable.

Understood. But how, then, do we remain one nation and one people?

There is no hope for our society as long as women can be brainwashed into thinking the most important thing for them is having it be legal to kill their own children. Watch this little video. A bear and her cub go to a water hole to drink where they are ambushed by a Bengal tiger. Mother bear gets it, instantly. Either she fights the tiger and wins, or the tiger eats her cub. She’s not confused about this. The bear probably goes a buck and a half, the tiger probably 350. Total mismatch. And there are a lot of times during the fight that the bear looks to be in deep trouble. But the bear doesn’t give up. She can’t. Or her baby is dead. She didn’t wake up that morning wanting to fight a Bengal tiger. What happened to our women? What don’t they understand, that a mama bear does?

I couldn’t watch the video because I can’t stand to see animals hurt, but I get your point. What has happened to our women, indeed! And why can’t they use contraceptives instead of abortion? If you’re going to have sex and don’t want a kid, prevent the pregnancy in the first place. That’s pretty much common sense.

The description that democrats used to define abortion is, in truth, infanticide. Late term abortion is murder. A child of a woman whose life is deemed in danger can be delivered rather than killed. There is NO reason to kill a child in late term pregnancies.
Gay rights has morphed into a demand that society at large accept unacceptable and aberrant behaviour as normal behaviour and those who object to said aberrations are deemed racists, homophobic, etc. There are organizations like the North American Man/boy Love Association that push for pedophillia, turning young boys and men into catamites, and the drag kids are a direct connection to this. Drag Queen story hour in libraries is another example of attempting to normalize the sexualization of children.

People will continue to try and self select out of areas more and more for political/cultural reasons rather than economics. I think you will see more and more people at first just give up on their regions and move to areas more politically similar. So for non-leftists you will see more and more people move to small towns and away from large cities. This will just continue to distort the differences, especially since MSM exists within these mega cities and are clearly leftists in inclination. So the country will get more and more distinctly different IF the US Titanic can stay alfoat for long enough for that to happen. All bets are off if we go from a slow decline to a quick one.

If not for the internet I would have no practical idea of how messed things are anymore. The small towns I go to have stores that fly Trump banners. Some version of camo is the most common type of clothing and hats I see when I go to the local stores. I see far more Amish during my week driving around than I ever do minorities. The only minorities in town go to our church, I think we have 6 in total. I’m guessing there are still alot of small places like this, and I’ve seen alot of young people move back from the cities and take worse paying jobs just to escape the city. So we can sort of hide from the insanity if we just don’t turn on the TV and avoid the internet news, which for mental healthy is probably a good idea for me to do more of.

My wife and I moved out of San Antonio (big city) and to a much more rural coastal region in deep South Texas almost ten years ago. We have a modest two acres and have been planting fruit trees and developing garden plots as time permits. It was our escape from what I saw as societal collapse on the horizon after the 2008 financial panic. So I think the “self select” you mention is well under way. Still, lots of leftists around and I think a majority of the Hispanic population around us, while more conservative than say NY or SF, still lean and vote democrat. At some point it will become impossible to “hide from the insanity” and that is what is most troubling to me… Chip

“San Antonio, Texas (Accredited Times) — They’re coming to America! With progressives abolishing borders, undocumented migrants have poured into the land of the free sh*t. Mexicans. Guatemalans. El Salvadorans. And now Congolese.

Wait, Congolese? Isn’t the Congo in, like, Africa? Yep. The open Southern border is now inviting the rest of the world to invade America via our close “ally,” Mexico.

America — which comprises roughly 4 percent of the world’s population — is about to experience a major population increase from the 96-percenters. Those 96-percenters are tired of “the rich” (Americans) hoarding all of the world’s wealth. They want a piece too. And by “piece,” I mean “all of it.”

So how many people will flood into America in the next fifty years? 100 million? 500 million? One billion? No one knows.

Not that it matters too much. With millions of new arrivals already settled in America with explosive fertility rates, the new arrivals are already in the process of replacing a rotting American culture beset by population stagnation as a result of abortion, feminism, atheism, birth control, and LGBT activism.

Last week, 350 Congolese undocumented immigrants arrived in San Antonio. The average IQ of these new arrivals? 65. According to scientific metrics, any score under 70 is officially “mentally retarded.” Consequently, the low IQ scores mean that the Congolese migrants are officially retarded — or “morons,” according to the previous terminology.”

Problem is that you can’t even flee to a sane area because the sane areas are under attack. North Carolina didn’t want transvestites using the wrong bathroom and Bruce fucking Springsteen cancelled his shows there. NC should have considered themselves lucky. Now look at Georgia under attack. If you have a pro-abortion lib in your family, they’re the ones who can’t even agree to disagree. They’re the ones who’ll stop speaking to you. Maybe it’s just because they think conservatives have the upper hand and their precious “right” may Ben curtailed, but I don’t remember pro life people ostracizing libs when Obama was president and Dems controlled the Senate. And hell no . This vile shit was imposed on Americans by Freemasons on the supreme Court and Jewish lawyers. From 1941 to 1971 there were 9 Freemasons on the court and then it got worse. All the fucking Jewish lawyers were Freemasons or involved in more depraved secret societies. Look it up . We have been betrayed and sabotage from within and from above. Even that white gal who the Jews used to get abortion passed later admit it was all lies. Most lawyers now admit it was a ” bad ” ruling based on lies and deception. This same Court that was full of Freemasons got the word of God removed , prayers removed and in 1980 got the 10 commandments or The Moral banned from schools.
Freemasonry is evil to the core and anyone who says it is not has not done the research or is lying through his damn teeth. Got to remove and then kill Christianity to bring in their Luciferian New World Order. White Christian Civilization is the only thing standing in the way or I should say Jesus Christ . Apologies… I was referring to BB’s admonition to read the book of Revelation; to instead read the book of Romans. I was not commenting in regard to your accurate statement about freemasonry.

For a Bible newcomer to begin in Revelation, only confusion and fear will result. Salvation is very clearly explained in Romans and this is the place to begin earnest Bible study.

I agree with almost everything BB says about freemasonry in his post with one glaring exception. He writes…

“White Christian Civilization is the only thing standing in the way…”

I would amend to read… “Christian civilization is the only thing standing in the way…” as:

Galatians 3:28 KJB… “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Christianity has exactly zero to do with skin color, ones past religion or even the sex of the believer. If you are human Christianity is open to you.

“To many Americans, diversity — racial, ethnic, cultural, religious — is our greatest strength.”
And those are exactly the “values” that are causing the nation to crumble. Our founding fathers wrote the constitution to allow freedoms, but those freedoms should not be shoved in the face of those who have different values, as the Founders made clear what those are based on 200+ years ago. The freedoms and values of our country were (are) based on a supreme being, and those men made it clear that without God as the basis for our constitution and nation, it would not stand.
“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

The two premier new testament rapture verse’s are 1 Corinthians 15:52 and 1 Thessalonians 4:16&17.

Just ask Enoch and Elijah who never died but were taken up and Noah who was raised pre-flood not mid or post flood above the flood waters of judgement by God and brought safely back to earth after the judgement of unbelievers was over to repopulate the earth.

All three are models of the rapture of the church.

That word rapture gets us into trouble… it isn’t in the Bible, though very clearly, as you accurately denote, the doctrine is. I try hard to call the event “the translation” of the church which is His body. Example:

Hebrews 11:5 KJB… “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”

The translation must occur pre-tribulation. Gods wrath was already poured out upon His Son on our behalf. We’ve been freed, amen! The tribulation cannot begin until the body of Christ is gone (2 Thes 2:1-12). The translation of the church is the next major move of God in the world.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 KJB… “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.”

Heaven, not earth, is our home (Col 3:1-3). I long to be there too but we must be longsuffering as the Lord is; He wants none to perish. Notice in the above verse it says “whether we wake or sleep”? How does one go to heaven to be physically present with the Lord while “awake” if not via translation?

Also, I like your Noah analogy! I had not considered that before you mentioned it here. Interesting thought!

Question (thought experiment), if you’re game. Where does the New Testament begin?

grace and peace…

That’s good! Most people say in Matthew 1:1…

The Bible states specifically when it began. At the death of the testator.

Hebrews 9:15-17 KJB… “And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.”

I was thinking of the curiosity of the timing of all these recent anti-abortion laws being passed. The obvious answer to “why now” is the “conservative” make up of the USSC (is it really though?) A more sinister view would be that white people will still get their abortions – by going to another state, country, etc. and that these bans will really only prevent PoC from getting them in meaningful numbers, further accelerating the demographic shift.

My wife is a purist when it comes to abortions. She is against it in just about all cases. About half of the 60 million or so abortions in this country were blacks. What would we, as a society, do with 30 million more blacks that can’t or won’t support or take care of themselves? A sizable percentage of blacks that do hold down jobs and attain a somewhat middle class lifestyle do so only based on affirmative action hiring practices and/or have make-work government jobs that aren’t actually beneficial to society anyways. What then?

Instead of congruous gospel tunes like, “give me that old-time religion” the state-approved religion’s mantra could go something like, “get woke AF or get wrecked”.

“But when did the right to an abortion — a crime in many states before 1973 — become a “core value” of the Democratic Party?”

Words mean things.

Abortion = ending unborn life = murder.

I thought murder was a crime in every state.

Titus 2:3-5 KJB… “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

Aged women failed to teach the younger women to love their children. Instead, they taught them to strive for sexual promiscuity. The scriptures that helped build a half way decent society have been long forgotten.

2 Timothy 3:13 KJB… “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”

Again, words mean things.

“To Iger and Hollywood, however, Georgia’s law radically restricts the “reproductive rights” of women, and is a moral outrage.”

“Reproductive” rights? Abortion is the termination of reproduction. A woman can do anything she wants with her own body, but she does not have the right to do anything she wants with the separate body growing inside of her.

Sex has consequences. Saying no to sex is a reproductive right. Aborting an already conceived human is not.

Pastor, some Christians think that the Bible contains all important moral teaching. I don’t believe that, since, according to 2 Thess, 2:15, that would be unbiblical. I once heard a caller to C-SPAN say that if God were against abortion, He would have put it specifically in the Bible. If I believed in Sola Scriptura, that would make some sense. Thankfully, we have other evidence from historical context that abortion has always been prohibited by the Christian Church – like the second chapter of the Didache (which may have been written before the book of Revelation) “you shall not murder a child by abortion”.

2 Thessalonians 2:15 KJB… “Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.”

Paul is speaking specifically to the gospel Jesus Christ gave to him and him alone (Gal 1:11-12). The gospel of the freely offered (no strings/covenants attached) grace of God. Thus the traditions the Thessalonian believers are to hold fast to are the things they’ve learned from Paul; whether by word or epistle.

Not everything Paul spoke was written, nor were all of Paul’s letters recorded in the Bible. For instance:

Colossians 4:16 KJB… “And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.”

Paul wants “Colossians” to be read in Laodicea. Where is the epistle of Paul from Laodicea he wants the Colossians to read? We don’t have it. If the Bible is all sufficient, which I do believe it to be, we don’t need that particular letter to fully understand what God wants us to fully understand. There are things in 1 Cor 7 I’m not sure I’ll ever fully understand because Paul is responding to specific questions from them. I simply trust that God knows what He wants me to at least have the ability to know and wrote it down. It would take me 10 lifetimes to get to the end of what’s written in that book as it stands.

“I once heard a caller to C-SPAN say that if God were against abortion, He would have put it specifically in the Bible.”

People say all sorts of things. The Bible, when comprehended as the book of progressive revelation that it is, falls short in nothing we humans need to know.

Take the law for instance. Do you need a law to tell you that murder is bad? Of course not. You’re a normal functioning human being. Yet sin has had such a profound effect on the world that God knew it necessary to give that law (and 600+ others) to a small nation that was to be an example to the rest of us. He gave the law because of the initial transgressions of the people (Gal 3:19). They failed to keep it. And still we can’t keep it today. It can’t be kept by imperfect beings. Only God Himself can keep it because it directly reflects His Perfect Nature. Is “aborting” an as of yet unborn human being from the safest place on earth for it, its mothers womb, not murder? Murder of a most heinous kind… to which many here including myself are touched by.

We humans are extraordinarily good at rationalizing things when it suits us…

How does the Bible then not say specifically, don’t abort babies. It says “thou shalt not kill” (Ex 20:13). Aborting babies is killing the most helpless humans among us.

In the sermon on the mount, God in the form of Christ Jesus, multiplied that simple commandment by “a million” when He speaks these words:

Matthew 5:21-22 KJB… “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.”

At first you couldn’t “do” murder. Now, you can’t even think about it! You can’t even call someone a fool. Think about that… and people say they “follow Jesus”! No, they don’t. Not even remotely close. Jesus was speaking to a very specific, very special, very small group of people.

To follow Jesus today we follow the Apostle He sent to us, Paul.

1 Corinthians 11:1 KJB… “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.”

It’s sola scriptura for me Iska… as long as it’s rightly divided. This is essential. Confusion abounds otherwise.

Grace and peace to you and yours. And thanks for the always amazing pictures you post… ?

Simply associating the concept of “value” with abortion[ist] and sex perverts is . . . BARFville!
