He also signed off for people saying they’ll sponsor immigrants to actually pay for them. The sponsor will have to pay the government back if any immigrant uses any type of welfare, which is the law. The .gov is even going to add it to their federal income tax bill. If an immigrant applies for government aid, both the immigrant AND the sponsor’s income and assets will now be used to determine eligibility. But if any aid is granted, the sponsor must pay it back. At least that’s a step in the right direction.
