In 1976, some of the families sharing older ancestral lineages in my hometown were asked to march together in our bicentennial parade. Although I was at an age where I found it somewhat embarrassing, I did enjoy waving at my friends and schoolmates along the way. Especially the girls.
Although the Saccharine Seventies manifested as a tarnishing patina on the silver platter of Norman Rockwell’s America, much of the shine still remained then in my hometown; even in the years before Ronald Reagan’s repolishing as the table was set again for his 1984 “Morning in America” commercial.
Ah, the power of television. What began with Elvis and his now iconic gyrating pelvis, later made Richard Milhous Nixon appear as the scowling ogre before Sir John F. Kennedy’s Camelot. Then, the next thing we knew, a former actor had become president, followed by shock and awe warfare, a stained blue dress, hanging chads, and elections predicated upon melanin and genitals. Today, we view Reality TV political press conferences almost as exciting as productions staged by the World Wide Wrestling Federation. Who knew?
Ironically, the film “Network” was also released in 1976. In watching it again recently, what struck me was how well-identified were the seeds of America’s decline – even back then, more than four decades ago. The film starred many Hollywood heavy-hitters including Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Peter Finch, Robert Duvall, and Ned Beatty. It was a critical and commercial success that was, in fact, nominated for ten Oscars and won four. Twenty-four years later, the movie critic Roger Ebert likened the film to “prophecy”.
The narrative described a fictional television network, in the wake of low ratings, degradingly commercializing its once highly-revered news division to appease the corporatacy; and, in that regard, the film actually did predict the future.
In the story, just as audiences were demanding entertainment over information, the news anchor of the network, Howard Beale (played by Peter Finch), had a psychic breakdown of sorts to the point where he began to tell the truth. And, boy, did he ever. As ratings skyrocketed for the network, its corporate overlords were thrilled right up to the point the frazzled news anchor was honest enough to interfere with the avarice of the puppet-masters. This is when Mr. Beale was treated to one of the most epic beatdowns ever seen on film – delivered in a monologue by Ned Beatty playing one of the corporate drones.
Here are the final lines of the monologue:
……We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr. Beale. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable by-laws of business. The world is a business, Mr. Beale; it has been since man crawled out of the slime. And our children will live, Mr. Beale, to see that perfect world in which there’s no war or famine, oppression or brutality – one vast and ecumenical holding company, for whom all men will work to serve a common profit, in which all men will hold a share of stock – all necessities provided, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused.

It’s fascinating to realize that, as a nation, we’ve known this type of fuckery has been occurring for decades and, yet, we’ve been powerless to prevent its progression.
Is it because we didn’t care? Because we thought someone else would step up in our place? Or, because our prosperity had lulled us to sleep?

In seeing that clip, and since viewing the movie for the first time, I found myself wondering if Wallace Shawn might have seen the movie Network in the years before My Dinner with Andre was released. Because, in Network, the reality television character of Howard Beale stated it thusly:
We deal in illusions, man. None of it is true! But you people sit there day after day, night after night, all ages, colors, creeds. We’re all you know. You’re beginning to believe the illusions we’re spinning here. You’re beginning to think that the tube is reality and that your own lives are unreal. You do whatever the tube tells you. You dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube. You even think like the tube. This is mass madness. You maniacs. In God’s name, you people are the real thing. We are the illusion. So turn off your television sets. Turn them off now. Turn them off right now. Turn them off and leave them off. So, knowing what we knew, we didn’t know what else to do and so instead built ourselves a panopticon from which we can no longer escape.
Why did we do this to ourselves? Or, did we allow it because we were fooled by the inner ring of an evil, even satanic, elite?
Perhaps both.
Did you ever wonder why the Devil in the Garden of Eden didn’t simply force the first couple to eat the apple? Perhaps it was for the same reason legends about vampires say the blood-sucking beasts can’t cross the threshold of anyone’s home until they’re invited. Maybe these were written as reminders of how we retain the power to choose even when there are no definitive answers.
Of course humans have Free Will because our decisions, and direction, are determined by choice. It is, for example, how the Hegelian Dialectic progresses.
There is a quote often exclaimed by sales-managers to their sales teams that says: “We live on yes’s and no’s but die on maybes!” Of course that’s just a way of encouraging salespeople to force decisions from prospects because “no” reveals objections that can be overcome (and turned into yes’s) via information and persuasion. On the other hand, “maybe” is a stall tactic. There is also a gray-area to free will that is often utilized by psychopaths, dictators, rapists, politicians, high-pressure product purveyors, and slingers of shady services: the conception of silence as consent.
Because less than three percent of you people read books. Because less than fifteen percent of you read newspapers. Because the only truth you know is what you get over this tube. Right now, there is a whole, an entire generation that never knew anything that didn’t come out of this tube. This tube is the Gospel. The ultimate revelation! This tube can make or break Presidents, Popes, Prime Ministers. This tube is the most awesome, god-damn force in the whole godless world. And woe is us if it ever falls into the hands of the wrong people.

Have you ever wondered why there has been no widespread public outrage at the revelations of former National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden? And the very fact Snowden was allowed to surface on the grid in the first place – what did that reveal about him? Because, just as the internet began to go viral some buildings fell in New York City and the next thing we knew, we were getting fondled by blue smurfs at airports and our personal communications surveilled around the clock.
All of that progression, as if by voting, manifested as a result of implied consent.
Next, they’re coming for the guns and we’ll all watch it on television like a cinematic plot unfolding.
So where is the resistance to these Orwellian deceptions?
In the eight days following Donald Trump’s 2016 Presidential Election win, this blogger wrote a series of three (3) articles based upon Charles Dicken’s literary classic, “A Tale of Two Cities” and drew some comparisons between our modern times with Dickens’ major themes of “duality, revolution, and resurrection” against the backdrop of the burgeoning warfare between the aristocratic class and those of the peasants during the French Revolution.
In the third installment, I mentioned how the conservative talk-radio host, Michael Savage, said Trump reminded him of the movie “Samson and Delilah” from the 1950s. That inspired me to write these words (in my 3rd installment entitled “The Good, the Guilty and the Guillotine”):
Think about it. Maybe Trump did come to take down the twin pillars of the Republican and Democratic party system. After all, Trump, like Samson, does seem to draw strength from his hair, has used a donkey jawbone (i.e. from the mouths of Democrat party donkeys) to slay his enemies, has taken a stand against foreign control of his nation, has a quick temper, exacts revenge on his opponents and enjoys beautiful women.
When the Trumpster descended the escalator in 2015, he split the Republican Party in two with his statements on immigration. In so doing, he rallied enough patriotic Americans to overcome their pessimism to secure an Electoral College win the next year. Indeed, the New York Don became President of the United States while being outspent two to one, against a rabidly hostile media, in opposition to colluding officials in the United States’ FBI, DoJ, and State Department; plus, with zero support from all Democrats and a significant percentage of Republicans.

So, you listen to me. Listen to me! Television is not the truth. Television’s a god-damned amusement park. Television is a circus, a carnival, a traveling troupe of acrobats, storytellers, dancers, singers, jugglers, sideshow freaks, lion tamers, and football players. We’re in the boredom-killing business. So if you want the Truth, go to God! Go to your gurus. Go to yourselves! Because that’s the only place you’re ever gonna find any real truth. But, man, you’re never gonna get any truth from us. We’ll tell you anything you wanna hear. We lie like hell. Now, with his latest attacks on the Odd Squad, the Donald did what Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi could not do. He unified the Democratic Party. But just not in the way Pelosi would have preferred. Additionally, as an extra bonus, the president once again drew clear lines of separation between his administration and the ever-kneeling Republi-cucks.
It all seems so familiar, no?
Do these morons have any idea how bad they are being trolled? I think not. It’s because they believe they’re seeing a reality TV star. And we are.
There are those of us who believe the daily narratives are complete fiction and it’s all for show. We consider all of the actors, and most of the audience, to be fake news. Whether or not we are correct remains to be seen. Regardless, suspension of disbelief reigns in a reality TV universe. It’s a ratings blowout but with real consequences for those in the audience – forever watching while being watched.
I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It’s a depression. Everybody’s out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel’s worth. Banks are going bust. Shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there’s nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there’s no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be.
We know things are bad — worse than bad. They’re crazy. It’s like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don’t go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is: ‘Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won’t say anything. Just leave us alone.’
Well, I’m not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get MAD!

There can be no doubt the 2020 Presidential Election will be a key moment in American history. In the event the world economy crashes before then, Trump’s trade policies and tax cuts will be blamed. But even in that scenario, the president may find a way to deflect the blame to where it rightfully belongs: upon the backs of the bankers who blew the bubbles in the first place. By then the socialists will be foaming at the mouth even more severely than now and its possible Trump may win again as the default choice of the mushy-minded independent voters in key states.
Or it could be our porous southern border turns Texas blue and Trump goes down in flames, his orange hair on fire.
In any scenario, perilous times will be upon us. This is because neither side will accept the results of the next election. Surely, the ANTIFA crowd will be rioting in the streets in the event of a Trump win. And, if Trump loses and contests the results over illegal immigration, vote fraud, or any other reason, the rioting of the collectivists will be even worse.
On the other hand, if Trump loses and another (relatively) peaceful transfer of power occurs, it will be a mere matter of weeks before the socialist shit-storm delivers legislative hell on earth.
What is finished is the idea that this great country is dedicated to the freedom and flourishing of every individual in it. It’s the individual that’s finished. It’s the single, solitary human being that’s finished. It’s every single one of you out there that’s finished. Because this is no longer a nation of independent individuals. It’s a nation of some two hundred odd million transistorized, deodorized, whiter-than-white, steel-belted bodies, totally unnecessary as human beings and as replaceable as piston rods.
Well, the time has come to say is ‘dehumanization’ such a bad word?’ Whether it’s good or bad, that’s what is so. The whole world is becoming humanoid, creatures that look human but aren’t. The whole world, not just us. We’re just the most advanced country, so we’re getting there first. The whole world’s people are becoming mass-produced, programmed, numbered, insensate things.

So what should be the response of patriotic Americans?
In an article entitled “Destiny Looms: Choose Your Way or it Drags You”, this blogger listed three (3) responses to tyranny as was demonstrated in the (gasp!) Bible’s Old and New Testaments. These were:
1.) Barabbas the Fighter – Who lived and died by the sword like a flea dreaming of defeating a barbaric behemothic beast.
2.) Judas the Sell-out – Who was the Patron Saint of “If You Can’t Beat ‘Em, Join ‘Em & Make a Little Money Besides”
3.) Daniel in Babylon – Who remained a loyal subject of the government, but only until the government tried to regulate his relations with his God. Then, he chose to obey the higher law instead of man’s law.
As mentioned in the article and according to the Bible’s New Testament, the early Christian disciples chose door # 3, according to Acts 5:29.
And speaking of the Book of Acts, I was at a recent church service where a young layman on staff there preached, specifically, on Acts chapter 12 which describes the Apostle Peter’s miraculous escape from a prison operated by a Hebrew governor named Herod (i.e. technically Herod the Third).
The young man began by informing the congregation that the book was titled in some Bibles as “Acts of the Apostles” but that the “acts” therein were, primarily, performed by the Almighty. He described how Herod had taken the Apostle Peter prisoner and all the other disciples could do was “gather and pray” (Acts 12:5). Beyond that, they were powerless. Next, an angel appeared in Peter’s prison cell and woke the apostle from a deep sleep before directing the tired apostle in a similar manner as a parent preparing a child for school:
And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

According to the next verses, the angel put the guards to sleep and Peter walked out of the prison like a sleepwalker awakening from a bad dream. And by the end of the teaching, the church layman drew these three (3) conclusions:
1.) Satanic opposition will continue
2.) People must continue gathering in fellowship and prayer and service
3.) But Christians must allow God to do the heavy lifting
My private takeaway, however, was a little more down to earth and it went like this:
One thing that Muslims, globalists, and leftists have in common is that they all want control of the world. In addition, it’s a fact that many Christians will not kill their ideological enemies because they would rather enter the kingdom beyond this world without blood on their hands. This means the former groups will inherit the earth just as they have made great progress over the past several decades. Until, that is, God installs the meek in His own time, of course.
It is also true that many, if not most, patriotic Americans consider themselves Christians – and if God is bringing judgement upon any nation, those who would try to prevent that judgement might as well point their high-powered rifles into the air against the Almighty himself.
You’re television incarnate, Diana: Indifferent to suffering; insensitive to joy. All of life is reduced to the common rubble of banality. War, murder, death are all the same to you as bottles of beer. And the daily business of life is a corrupt comedy. You even shatter the sensations of time and space into split seconds and instant replays. You’re madness, Diana. Virulent madness. And everything you touch dies with you. But not me. Today, in perfect dialectical fashion, many on the left consider the cadre of deep state criminals as Defenders of the Republic against Donald the Usurper. This is, after all, what they have seen on their screens. It means they will most likely view any deep state prosecutions as a fascist purge and they will not go gentle into that good night. No way, because they have pledged allegiance to the Open Borders of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under Political Correctness, indivisible, with free transgender surgeries and abortions for all.
The question remaining, then, is whether or not the patriotic Christians will choose to love and embrace their enemies, or shoot and stab them; as well the Christian brethren who now pine for heavenly globalism on earth.
Jesus told his disciples in Luke 22:36 to sell their garments and buy swords. Then, in verse 38, he said two swords were enough for 11 men.
In Ecclesiastes 3:8 it says there is “a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace”.
So what time is it, Christians? Because the Left rises like Robespierre and there are those on the Right who desire to clean house like Hitler who, paradoxically, led a party of Socialists whose Brownshirts looked a lot like ANTIFA does today.
So which side will cross the “Blood Meridian” first?
Personally, as I wrote to one of my online friends recently – I’ve come to believe that love is all that matters. I’m less afraid when I love because I can hold onto it no matter what happens. Even unto the end of things.
But, first and foremost, I love my family and friends and all that that entails.

I only read that Barabbas was chosen for release instead of Jesus. Is there additional information regarding Barabbas after his release?

I undertook a recent research endeavor to “flesh” out the mystery of Mary Magdalene as implied by the fraudulent Da Vinci Code (there is a PLACE called Da Vinci and the artist would have been known as Leonardo of Da Vinci to any person of any intellect or education at all.)
What I discovered was a body of literature which explores Judas’s role in the Garden of Gethsame episode which is often overlooked except by rosary bead counters, of which I’ve met a few. Think about it. What if Judas had NOT given Him up?

Luke 23:18-19 says Barrabbas was imprisoned for “insurrection and murder”. The King James version uses the term “sedition”. Insurrection, sedition, and murder all imply violent rebellion against the governmental authorities of the day.
Today, there are those who desire the same and it reminds me of a quote I saw while researching this article. It is often incorrectly attributed to Thomas Jefferson:

Okay… I see the logic then. I’ve always thought of the Barabbas lesson as being the ultimate example of how an individual grows comfortable doing, in a mob, what they would never do if they were to be alone. (there’s that word “be” and “being” again and when I see it now I think Damn Thee Wallace Stevens!)
When Pilot asks the crowd to choose who will go free for passover, I see the tyrant passing the guilt onto the crowd. Isn’t this the point where he washes his hands of the matter?
So, Barabbas is set free by the crowd who shout “Give us Barabbas!”
It almost supports Paula Frierre’s thesis regarding the Pedagogy of the Oppressed, I think. The crowd is “oppressed” by the fact that Barabbas is guilty of his charges, while Christ has only given them words of Hope and Optimism, killing none and stealing nothing. Barabbas, in all four gospels, is guilty of his charges, be they insurrection against “authority” OR murder. I think he is also referred to as thief, but the word “fighter” is a bit of a leap from insurrection. However, in my own past experience, as you demonstrate in your writing, Doug, the use of words to describe things beyond their usual realm of meaning is a valid use of language, so I will agree that Barabbas the Fighter/Insurrectionist works for your example quite well, but I still think we do not know how he died. He might actually have grown a pair and become like Saul on the road to Damascas: blinded by the light.

And what does this have to do with Barabbas?
Taking and perishing by the sword. Duh.
Was there a sword in the charges against Barabbas? Because I already posted a link that suggests we do not know what happened to him after he was set free for Passover.
I suggested to the author that perhaps his hyperbolic leap in logic that Barabbas continued his insurrectionist ways and died by the sword was based on rumor and conjecture.

Thus, choosing Barabbas mistakenly, thinking him simply charged as guilty when you know in your heart he murdered and stole from the dead. But, you want him pardoned because you want Jesus killed.

Throughout human history the vast majority want themselves, not God. It’s what the Bible is all about; that’s why there is no way man would have EVER written it. It paints a horrid picture of us. Adam, the first man, chose himself. This is why we today require salvation, for all born are born “in Adams image” (Gen 5:3) not in Gods image as “non-fallen” Adam was. It’s His image to which we need to be restored (2 Cor 3:17-18) and only He can make the restoration. We must choose it. That’s what salvation is… not what we “do” as religion would have us believe; our “works” are as filthy rags. Even His people Israel chose Barabbas (a clear picture of fallen man) over Him (the LORD GOD) who appeared to them IN THE FLESH whom they tortured and killed.
What a sorry lot we are…

A worthy “Barabbas read” is the eponymous novel by Per Lagerqvist. Encountered it in a rotating paperback rack in a variety store in Paw Paw, Michigan while on a cross country trip in 1968. I still have it many years and many miles later. Read it again a few years ago. Held up well and I appreciated it even more than I did at 22.

I almost mentioned the Jesus Barabbas reference. It suggests some sort of duality. Sort of a Yin and Yang that might hang on that tree, where the ones who walk free is just we.

I believe the biblical topic of hammering swords into plows is attributed to the soon coming millenial reign of Jesus after the 7 year trbulation period and the second coming of Jesus the Messiah.
It is a reference to a 1000 year period of perfect unfetered peace and justice.

Unfortunately, here, in the “now”, the end about which we must worry is the acceptance of your/our/my good will/beneficence/kindness/love. It seems obvious that “their” concept of love is rather twisted, but, when they wholesale reject what is right, good, true, real, pure (perfected . . . ish) and, thereby reject the genuine expression(s) of civility, THEN, I fear, the choice will be made for us. For the survival of what we hold dear (“all that that entails”) . . . I think we will discover that our pro-action becomes reaction and on a scale for which “they” have no point of reference. Too many believe that “meek” means “weak” (yet another lie or mere ignorance?), and the revelation of the actual, physical truth will, in many cases, I fear, precede an immediate, permanent end to any delusions.

I was born pretty much right as Howard Beale / Peter finch was rehearsing his famous rants. How fitting. After living through this much of this transformation of our species, I have come to the realization that this must be the result of a non human intelligence acting through our own subconsciouses in ways we cannot yet comprehend. Like a virus encoded into our DNA, directing us toward our own destruction and the creation of the next phase. The “program” has been activated by all the symbols being thrown around haphazardly. Such a paradigm can only be possible in a world of highish technology. We have no formal education or training on what exactly is happening, because no one alive even knows. Not even the highest orders of secret societies truly know, though they obviously have a general idea of how this works.
Christians who pine for the heavenly globalism on earth are worshiping anti Christ. To paraphrase Ecclesiastes it is a time to prepare for the war that is coming. Ecclesiastes, by the way, is a book that teaches physical men how to live hppy and successful lives.
Always well written and considered but the Biblical confusion obfuscates the search for any solution. You seem to be speaking to Christians yet you quote only Jewish scripture.
Christians did not yet exist in Acts chapter 5. There were no Christians in the books of Daniel, Luke or Ecclesiastes. Judas and Barabbas were Jewish traitors and robber/murderers.
In Acts chapter 12 we read the story of Jewish Peters miraculous release from prison. Amazing… but as far from Christian as any other Biblical example offered.
Of the three potential solutions proffered…
1.) Satanic opposition will continue.
2.) People must continue gathering in fellowship and prayer and service.
3.) But Christians must allow God to do the heavy lifting.
…I with you on the first two. God however, in this dispensation of grace, is not doing the heavy lifting today.
If one wants to learn the Christian solution to the problems we face one must turn to the first Christian, Paul.
1 Timothy 1:15-16 KJB… “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me FIRST Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a PATTERN to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.”
Paul is the Christians pattern. Not Peter, John, James or Jesus in His earthly ministry.
The last we here about Peter is found in Acts chapter 15 where he and the other Jewish elders learn from Paul what God is now doing in the world. Galatians chapter 2 tells of the same meeting. In it, Paul rebukes Peter. Peter and the 11 are relegated to stay with the Jews and Paul is called to go out into the world NOT preaching the gospel of the Jewish Kingdom (as Jesus and the 12 were), but that gospel of grace and peace Jesus gave to him in Acts chapter 9. The most salient marching orders for which can be found in Pauls second letter to the Corinthians, chapter 5.
It is free will which caused the fall. It is free will that might cause a man to choose salvation in Christ.
Christ is not here… His body (the church – all saved people) is. If God is going to do any heavy lifting today, He has left His body here to do it. Or not…
Physical swords are not our weapons. The sword of the Spirit (Gods word – the King James Bible in English – the others are liars) is. You want answers? You want a plan? Study 2 Cor 5… study Romans and figure out what man actually is and what God has made the saved man.
Ephesians 6:10-20 KJB… “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. In bold above is the only offensive weapon listed. The rest are defensive. There is much to learn before we even enter this fight. Failure to learn these truths is what satan counts on.
We humans have always had the answers. We as a single race of human beings have mostly chosen to ignore it.
Free will… it both kills and opens the door to life everlasting. God never wanted robots… He wants those who freely choose what He freely offers.
The world is in the shape it’s in because of God’s longsuffering grace. That grace is a double edged blade because, free will. God, for the past 2,000 years has left man to his own devices, all the while offering an escape from the disaster we’ve created since Adam chose to eat of the forbidden fruit.
At some point in the future, God will have had enough and His offer of free grace will be rescinded. My suggestion is that any and all readers avail themselves of that grace right now.

One small point ( maybe a big point), can a body exist that is separated from the head? I get your point, that as Christians, we can choose to be under God’s will or not, but it is by choosing to be in the will of God that we are joined to the head of the body, Christ and thus become Christ’s representatives as His body, in the world today.
May I ask you thoughts?

Two questions for now:
1 ) Regarding the early martyrs killed under Paul’s orders (prior to Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus): Were these martyrs Christians or Jews?
And
2.) Can you think of any Biblical scripture or context where the Christians led by Paul (after Paul’s conversion) were instructed to bear weapons of any kind?

The people Saul (Paul) killed were believing Jews… remnant Israel. Those who saw who their Messiah was.
As for bearing weapons, Paul never mentions physical weapons. Only the sword which is His word.
Rom 12:18 (again)… “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
Self defense is inherent in this scripture; thank God for that “if”. Therefore, if it’s not possible, do what you must. There is no physical action a saved man can take that will prevent his going to heaven. If I am forced to kill thousands in any war this country experiences, my position in heaven is secure. If I lay down and die, my position in heaven is secure. Free will. Liberty. Ultimate liberty… found only in Christ.
Rom 8:38-39… “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Yessir. Again, I write these articles, in large part, to broaden my own understanding and hone my perspectives. As the regular readers here understand, much of that evolves right here in the commentary.
The Bible is great for developing for discussions because it has served as a universally acknowledged reference point over the millennia – and, in particular, throughout the Western canon.
Honestly, I find your lens of dividing the doctrine (and dispensations) fascinating. So much so, I quite often use the King James Version in my recent articles knowing that is your preference.
That said, however, I will admit to preferring the NIV myself. Primarily because of the concentration required to decipher the old language. (always in a hurry am I)
Speaking to your recurrent citing of differing Biblical books as addressed to separate audiences – such as Jesus Christ & the original apostles addressing Israel (jews) and Paul as the “pattern” for the church (i.e. mid-Acts dispensationalism): Do you ever have anyone challenging your interpretation of Galatians 3:28 (written by Paul)?
For the sake of discussion, what would you tell them? Just curious.

Thank you sir! Honestly, it’s to everyones benefit even if they are uncomfortable with it. It takes a bit of getting used to, but when once the decision is made to study it and it alone, the language will alter the way your mind works. It is LASER precise with Paul as the master logician. The construction of the language is stunning. It will sharpen your ability to reason beyond what you might imagine.
Great question. As the Bible is arranged… past, present and future “sections” so too are there “Gods people” and “not Gods people” throughout time.
In time past (Genesis – first half of Acts) God dealt with man in terms of Jew (chosen – Gods people) and Gentile (not Gods people). The Jews had a covenant with God. If they did what He said, He would bless them. If not, curses were is store (read Lev 26). If a Gentile individual or nation wanted Gods blessing he/it had a simple rule to follow.
Gen 12:1-3… “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
All God ever wants to do is bless people. Some here think He’s a monster. It’s us that’s monstrous, not Him.
In the future (Hebrews – Revelation), post “translation” of the church, God will once again be dealing with the world in terms of Jew (Gods people) and Gentile (not Gods people). Things will be very hard. There will be resurrections of long dead Godly Jews (Ezekiel 37) and the deaths of unGodly ones (today’s) as the tribulation is centered around Israel. (Everything is always centered around Israel, notice that?) God is far from finished with Israel even though they are apostate today. If a Gentile individual or nation wants a blessing from God (future) who will once again be intervening directly in the world as He used to, go back to Gen 12:1-3 to get it. Bless them (see Mat 25:31-46) knowingly or unknowingly.
Today (BUT NOW! – Romans – Philemon) in this, the dispensation of grace given to Paul, God is not dealing with the world in terms of Jew and Gentile (there’s your verse). He is dealing with all people on an equal level. Because Israel failed completely (Acts 7) and the Gentiles were already cast aside, He should have destroyed the world completely right then and there, but He didn’t. He had every right to. As a matter of fact Peter was preaching exactly that in Acts 2-4. To paraphrase: “This is what the prophet Joel was talking about! The end is here! Repent!” Yet, the world didn’t end.
The Lord, out of nowhere in prophesy, showed Himself to Paul and changed EVERYTHING. The mystery (Eph 3)! He concluded ALL men under sin so He could have equal mercy upon all.
Rom 11:32… “For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.”
The old covenant came to an end in early Acts; the new covenant just barely begun (signs and wonders in Acts) and God, in near infinite mercy, interrupted it and gave the entire world a last “free pass”. Grace and peace was offered instead of destruction, judgement and war. We today are under no covenants whatsoever. Through Paul there is NEITHER Jew NOR Gentile. The edict given in Genesis 12 is not in effect. Any human being anytime, anyplace can be saved simply by acknowledging the fact that he is a hopeless sinner in need of a Savior… that there is nothing he can do about his condition except to accept the freely offered gift of God; His Son Jesus Christ hung on the cross in our stead. Internalize that. Christ hung on that cross in your place… and you’re saved for all eternity. The gifts that follow are almost beyond description. Paul explains them wonderfully in his 13 epistles.
Once the church (Gods people), His ambassadors of grace and peace are no longer needed, Gods longsuffering nature come to an end, He will translate us out, both alive and dead and His wrath will be upon the world (not Gods people) to remove sin from it. What that verse in Galatians (and Col 3:11) shows is exactly this “free grace/non-covenantal” situation. God is not dealing with the world in terms of Jew and Gentile… we are all equal in Christ (saved). We are also all equal out of Christ (dead).
This is what satan is trying to accomplish in the world today. He is a master counterfeiter. The world believes he is god (Isaiah 14:12-14, 2 Cor 4:3-4). The “utopia” the socialists think “they” can create is 100% satanic. It can’t be done by “us” because we are stained, we are no good (we are “they”!!!). The vast majority, on both sides, believing otherwise. The world sees itself in terms of good guys/bad guys. That’s not the way it is. We’re all bad guys. But, as always, God provides an out for those who want it.
Paul opens his every epistle with the words “grace and peace from God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ.” That is not just a nice “Christian” salutation. It is an OFFICIAL PROCLAMATION from God to man. I’m not sure how much longer it will last…

Pastor , Covenants or Dispensations ? I find no where in Scripture where God says we can break apart his Covenants. From a Reformed Presbyterian Perspective it just not possible. I find Dispensationalism and it’s rapture to be an obvious error to me. There are no Jewish Scriptures – there is only one Christian faith – what was founded on the teaching of the prophets and apostles with Jesus Christ as its Cornerstone all under the Covenant of Redemption. I guess I always have been driven to the teaching of the Reformation with Calvin and Luther as a good staring place. The Doctrine of Justification in Christ Alone , by grace alone , through faith alone as its Core. Remember , Reformed , Evangelical and then Catholic. I don’t mean Catholic Church but the world wide church. Even the invisible church where people are saved from the wrath of God but are turned off by organized religion like many here on the Burning Platform.

You’re right. Find that for me in the book of James please. Seriously, go look for it. Show me the scripture. Or in Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. Hebrews, 1 or 2 Peter, 1-3 John, Jude or the book of Revelation. These are not called the “Hebrew epistles” for no reason.
James says the EXACT opposite of what Paul says. It is because he was speaking to a different audience (James 1:1) who were given a different purpose than believers today.

I am by far the most committed in actual Preps, but I’m the oldest one, and the only retired one who has significant spare time and has put significant $ into it. Three of us have military experience, one is a Deputy Sheriff and the fourth (a white South African who left his home in disgust (he was recently naturalized and also recently became a Christian) is training constantly, and like me armed to the teeth.
Almost all of my rural neighbors are armed to various degrees, most have gardens, chickens, some other animals. Being in a small rural Church, about 90 members is an advantage (the doctrine is sound in my opinion as are the Preacher and Deacons) so the nucleus for a tight, strong, moral, dependable tribe is there.
I have always taken the first step with them as far as prepping and forming a mutural support group that could expand under duress. Have lent out some appropriate books, and after shooting together on my range brought up the subject with some over beers and cigars.
Relationships first, trust, then if comfortable feel them out and discuss the what ifs.
I’m not looking for dependents but like minded men and woman who are willing to band together and fight if necessary, can feed themselves, and stand tall together when TSHTF.

Why haven’t “WE” been able to do ABC while they have been pushing XYZ? I’m a late blooming Christian with so much baggage, I don’t need a couple of porters, I need my own baggage car. That said how about a fourth choice? One of the books I’m currently reading is: THE FAITHFUL PREPPER. Subtitled: A Christian’s Perspective on Prepping, by Aden Tate.
So far so good as I am always looking for justification (the Bible, the Constitution, books and websites that expose the FF’s and our corrupt, owned government) to Prep, buy another gun, stack, and get ready for when whatever is coming…finally arrives.

I have waited to comment as you all know my feelings on bible fables. Almost all of you have focused on what I feel is the smallest part of Doug’s magnificent offering. He starts with Network and finishes with My Dinner With Andre and in the end a few quotes from the bible. The entire thread is beautifully tied together to discuss what I interpret as the ways in which humans are propagandized. This activity, the effort to convince others that one person or group should lead has been with humans since before they were sapiens. It is what every animal does. A leader is chosen for a group (usually by the group) and the group follows that leader until he is deposed either by force or finally old age.
To me, this is not about some fictional character in a movie about TV. It is not about some fictional dinner. It is not about some fictitious characters in the bible. It is about the methodology implicit in all of these fictions. These fictions are created for a reason, most likely the same exact reason. That reason, to my way of thinking, is that it is impossible for a small group of people to physically control a large group of people. No matter how many bullets they own, soldiers that they pay to shoot those bullets, they know that they can’t kill everybody. Not that they haven’t tried to. The Communists tried in Russia and China and Cambodia, but they didn’t succeed. So, if they can’t kill everybody, and they know that everybody is very likely to kill them, then the only weapon available is propaganda. And it has been used since time uncounted and it has worked every time…until it didn’t.
And this, I believe, is the central theme of Doug’s essay. That we will always have to contend with propaganda. It is their only weapon and they will never stop wielding it and you will never be free of it. Propaganda is what you tell your children. Propaganda is what Trump tweets to you. Propaganda is what the mullah preaches to his mosque and it is what Grace County Pastor preaches in his two meeting houses. In the end, it is propaganda which is employed to change peoples minds and the only thing that has changed even slightly over the past ten thousand years is the volume and the reach of that effort to propagandize. The underlying strategy has always been the same, no matter who was employing it. “I am the king by god’s decree.” “I am the king by the might of my sword.” “I am the king because you all love me.” “I am the king because you voted for me.” In the end it always wind up being the case that somebody gets to be king, and as Tom Petty pointed out so eloquently, “It’s good to be king.”
And finally, and this does not appear to be something that Doug touches on, there is the question of how do you stay king? How do you ensure that you and yours will be dominant and get all the women and precious metals? There are so many kings all over the place and the only way to ensure that you don’t get deposed from your kingship is to rid the world of all of the rest of those kings. It is ubiquitous. All of the isms that have been promoted in our history have sought domination over all. The world will be at peace once all who disagree with me are eliminated. The communist purges, the jewish slaughter of the opposing tribes, the muslim conquests and of course the christian slaughters that continue to this very day. Some of you yourselves in this very post have suggested the world will one day be purged of all who disbelieve once christ returns. The whole world under one loving god. The whole world under on loving Allah. The whole world under communist rule. The whole world under the new world order.
It is all the same thing. Doug is pointing out the sameness so you can clearly see it. If anything, this is a call to arms, not a call to christianity. That which must be opposed is not the communist. Not the democrat. Not the black or the jew or the muslim. That which must be opposed is the concept of one world under anything. It doesn’t matter what that thing might be, be it allah or god or Marx or George W Bush. If it is one world under anything it is by definition oppression. The only weapon against propaganda is knowledge. All of the isms what infest the world today were started by one single person. It was his idea and he explained it to other people and they liked it and explained it to other people who liked it and on and on until it became an ism. In this war of isms the answer that I have heard the majority of you give is that you just want to be left alone. Well they are not going to leave you alone. And the reason that they are not going to leave you alone is that their power is derived from propagandizing you so as to change your mind and allow them to stay in power. It is you and me and all of us who give them this power. It is only we who can take it away.
We here today have a unique opportunity. We have available to us two tools that nobody else has been given in all of history. We have the internet and we have the ballot box. The internet allows the kinds of conversations that Doug’s wonderful essay have incited. These conversations can take place in your office or kitchen table anywhere in the world. It can take place on your phone, laptop, pad, or computer. But it is through the second valuable resource that our power can be derived. They still think that their propaganda works. Well it doesn’t. Who here hasn’t said “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it any more?” And yet take it you do. The ballot box is your golden ticket. It is your voice. The problem is that your voice is only one of hundreds of millions of voices and all of those voices are clamoring for attention. They all have different desires and they all have different goals. The illusion of democracy is that you can assign your voice to another. This can never in truth be done as once you have given your voice away, you can never again regain the power of your voice except through confrontation. You have believe that a representative democracy meant that the people had power. That was never true. The power has always resided in the people who made up the rules. And those people took money to make rules that they needed and they created propaganda to convince you that their rules were the right rules. But the cracks are appearing. Brexit, Trump, Identitarians, these are all signs that the “New World Order” has failed. But it won’t go down without a fight.
And if you are to participate you must choose a side, and you must have a strategy, and you must employ the only weapon that is likely to be available to you…your vote, your voice.
Now I have to go and watch My Dinner With Andre.

In the early 2000’s the ex-conservative political commentator David Brock (who later fell in love with the crease in Obama’s pants) wrote a book entitled “The Republican Noise Machine“. It was about conservative AM talk radio and I remember thinking: “It’s not noise unless you don’t want to hear it”.
And that’s the way it is today with Trump and Twitter: much of what he says is the truth – but to the snowflakes, Trump is evil personified and ceaselessly spewing venom; even as the socialists call Trump “Hitler” who was the leader of a socialist movement.

As a point of history, the National Socialists had their Brownshirts, and they were engaged in an internecine Collectivist struggle with the Communists as to who would control (post) Weimar Germany.
