THIS DAY IN HISTORY – Detroit Riots begin – 1967

Via History.com

The Detroit Riots were among the bloodiest riots in American history. The strife occurred during a period of Detroit’s history when the once-affluent city was struggling economically, and race relations nationwide were at an all-time low.

The Detroit Police Department’s vice squad often raided illegal drinking establishments in the city’s poorer neighborhoods, and at 3:35 a.m. on Sunday morning, July 23, they moved against a club that was hosting a party for returning Vietnam War veterans. The early-morning police activity drew a crowd of onlookers, and the situation rapidly deteriorated.

Soon thousands of people had spilled out onto the street from nearby buildings, throwing rocks and bottles at the police, who quickly fled the scene. Looting began on 12th Street, where the illegal club was located, and shops and businesses were ransacked.

By dawn, the first fire broke out, and soon much of the street was ablaze. By midmorning, every policeman and fireman in Detroit was called to duty. Back on 12th Street, officers struggled to control the crowd, and firemen were attacked as they tried to battle the flames.

The rioting continued all week, and the U.S. Army and the National Guard were called in to quell the worst of the violence. By the time the bloodshed, burning and looting ended after five days, 43 people were dead, 342 people were seriously injured and nearly 1,400 buildings had been burned or ransacked.

And those neighborhoods never recovered. Fueled the start of the demise of Detroit. See what you get when allow a tribe of proto-humans to assemble.

That was the whole point of Apartheid.

Keeping them out of the cities where they inevitably congregate and degenerate.

It worked well- until they got rid of it.

I saw Bob and his Silver Bullet Band way back at the Buffalo Auditorium.
Priceless memories.

My city elected a black mayor a couple years ago. The demographics have been near 50/50 for decades and the dems had worked hard to gerrymander the wards to achieve their goal – a nigger mayor. the only obstacle was the city bylaws stipulated an APPOINTED mayor up until a few years ago. First election, a city that’s over 200 years old and has been ailing economically since the ’70s, with a murder rate 220% of its states’ average, elected a bootlip donkey, and now the city is doomed. Half of it looks like Mogadishu, while the Whhhhhytez and jewz with enough $ draw together into shrinking enclaves to avoid the Black Scourge.

The 1967 Detroit riots sealed Detroit’s fate…
I grew up in Detroit and can relate to the “changes” that occurred during my residency.
Blacks WERE a major problem in 1960s and beyond Detroit.

I was able to keep up my property with no difficulty, painting the house (outside) on a regular basis, mowing the lawn and keeping the shrubbery trimmed-normal maintenance for any homeowner.
Contrast my maintenance efforts and results with my black “neighbors” who did not (want to) keep up their property. You see, in the 1970s HUD had “special programs” to move blacks into single-family housing, without requiring these blacks to have any “skin in the game”.

Of course, being white, I did not qualify for any of these programs.

The liberal “urban studies” folks at Wayne State University has always made excuses for blacks and their inability and lack of “upkeep” (normal everyday maintenance) on their homes. Their main excuse was that “the homes were old”…never blaming the black residents themselves.

On almost every block, whites (mostly elderly Polish) who could not afford to move STILL kept up their homes–freshly cut grass, well-maintained exteriors, etc. despite their homes being just as “old” as those owned by blacks. No matter where you went in Detroit, one could always tell where whites lived. Neatly manicured lawns and well-kept-up houses were the norm.

I finally left Detroit after a number of burglaries and little or no police response. The police KNEW who the criminals were but did nothing about it. You see, blacks were “oppressed” and were “untouchable”.

Another situation was the “code enforcement” harassment that us whites endured. We always used the city-supplied trash containers (one for every two residences). Our black “neighbors” were too lazy to put their trash in the containers, strewing their trash throughout the alleys. Guess who got repeatedly ticketed for “improperly disposed of trash”? It wasn’t the blacks who improperly disposed of their trash–it was us whites. It was as if they (the black-run city government) wanted us to leave…

No, the old liberal excuses that poverty was instrumental in the destruction of Detroit is totally false.
All one has to do is ask the party (liquor) store owners why they put up with the likes of blacks. The Detroit “ghetto” was (and is still) quite a “gold mine” for businesses that sell liquor, lottery tickets and junk food.

I grew up in Detroit and personally witnessed the marginalization of whites, the destruction of a once-great city along with the destruction by blacks.

It’s CULTURE, not “poverty”.

The “elites” need to stop making excuses for black culture and black aberrant behavior.

News flash – the government STILL has massive numbers of programs to get people into homes with “no skin in the game.” That was pretty much how Bush’s “ownership society” helped set the stage for the housing collapse in 2007. And now look at Kamala Harris’ rehash of the same stupid idea – all based on the completely misguided belief that owning a home is somehow the key to wealth and financial prosperity. A house is a money pit. Owning a home is a REFLECTION of your wealth and your life-long good habits of saving, living below your means, and being responsible with your money.

There are a number of reasons for Detroit’s decline that have never been explored or discussed.

1. “Blockbusting” by greedy real estate agents. Real estate agents would send out postcards with the following: “A new family is moving into your neighborhood. If you want to sell your house, please call me at xxx-xxxx”. A “new family” was a euphemism for black families, and was used to “encourage” whites to sell their homes.

2. HUD (Housing and Urban Development) speculators and real estate hustlers conspired to “buy up” and raze the best houses on every block, in certain sections of the city. Quite often, “shacks” were left standing while decent housing was purchased by HUD and razed. This was done purposely to depress property values, to make it easier for speculators to purchase properties at “bargain basement” prices.

I realize that items 1 and 2 counteract each other and are at cross purposes, but they were a reality in 1960s Detroit.

3. The 1967 riots did much to push whites out of Detroit. A little-known aspect of the Detroit riots was the application of spray-painted words on the exteriors of black-owned businesses. The words “soul brother” was spray-painted on businesses owned by blacks so that the “angels of death” (actually rioters) would spare them from destruction. Whole business districts around the city were destroyed, never to regain their former selves.

4. The election of Coleman Alexander Young, Detroit’s first black mayor, who was overtly racist to Detroit’s white citizens while “getting along just fine” with the “movers and shakers” (big business people) of the day (as long as the campaign contributions kept coming in)….

5. The abolition of the STRESS (Stop The Robberies, Enjoy Safe Streets) program. This anti-criminal program was put in by mayor Young’s predecessor and was quite successful in “cleaning up the streets” of criminals. In this program, police officers would disguise themselves as vulnerable old people and walk through neighborhoods as “decoys”. Predatory criminals would attempt to rob these elderly citizens and quite often, were dispatched to “the great hereafter”. One of Young’s campaign promises was the abolition of the STRESS program as too many of “his people” were being eliminated. Upon the election of Young, the program was disbanded.

These are 5 reasons for this once-great city’s demise.

#4 should be #1, once pavement apez achieve political control- it’s over for that city, blow Taps. The only exception seems to be Atlanta, but that is sliding steadily as whhhhytezz form NEW cities so they can stop being bled dry by Fulton, Dekalb, etc. counties that make up the negroidal metroplex. Atlanta has maybe 10 years before it’s a hopeless shytehole.

The Newark riots preceded Detroit by a week and was, pound for pound, worse.

Over 12,000 documented rounds were fired into the Newark hood- and that was just the ammunition they could account for.

Lived there then. Was 7 at the time. House was 1/2 a mile from the northern border, 8 Mile.
We had a small fire station 1/2 block away, one street over.
As a kid, I’d walk by it, and wander in to nose around. I remember how clean it was, how it smelled, and remember the tape machine that rolled and clacked when any nearby public fire box alert was pulled or activated. Archaic, but effective.

The truck left the station one day during the riots, and came back with a cracked windshield.

My house is gone. Last time I drove down my street was 6-7 years ago, early on a Sunday morning.
The blight was astounding.

Funny, I remember hearing some blacks blaming white flight for the shithole’s demise.

Narc repeats himself with C&P comments but it’s a first hand experience account.

Down town and it’s perimeter is coming back, but the outlying neighborhoods still within city limits are thug running amok.

Bottom line…nigs gonna nig.

Whites with any skin in the game distance themselves and their families. They know.

Like begets like.
Trash piles up and stinks, if it’s not disposed of.

Not a difficult concept.

Post script edit add…
12th Street, where it all began.
Now called…….are you ready?
Rosa Parks Boulevard.

See? Erica knows that uppity NWA’s get lauded by like minded, for their behavior.

A victimhood stance, to take liberties by breaking rules, in flagrant disobedience of systems in place designed to keep civil order.

If rules give them no special consideration, then they are broken, and changed via legislation, so the benefits swing more in their favor.

Their attitude cares not about fairness, truth, honesty, or justice.
What’s in it for me? And,
To hell with anybody else, particularly anyone from outside their tribe who gets screwed over, or suffers a loss.

White privilege bad.
Black priviliges owed. Overdue.
A right that is demanded to balance the scales..

Until of course, Mexicans want some of what the blacks enjoy.
Then, the jamoches object.
Hypocrites. Arrogant. Ignorant.

It is truly sad that folks can get a sense that the problem is the GOVERNMENT, but never follow through to the logical conclusion that the solution is to get rid of the government. Instead, they burn down the private businesses that have been keeping them fed, clothed, drunk, etc. and then embrace the government again when they come to help them get back on their feet.
