Red Line

By Tim “xrugger” Stebbins for The Burning Platform

I have been thinking a great deal lately about red lines, those Rubicon’s of thought and action that, once crossed, present little or no opportunity of a peaceful return to the original status quo. There are lines crossed by tyrants, which finally trigger the violent response of a people too long oppressed. There are lines beyond which not one more compromise, law, or government threat will suffice to maintain a precarious peace. The riflemen at Lexington and Concord understood that kind of red line.

I got to thinking also of Colonel Travis’ apocryphal “line in the sand” at the Alamo. His red line was an invitation to sacrifice and martyrdom. The men who stepped over that line crossed in an instant from their present reality into the mists of myth and legend. Such is the power of a red line.

It appears then, that there exist two sorts of red lines: Those crossed by a man or by an entire people in order to achieve some great end, or by a government to impose some great tyranny. These are, in a sense, offensive in their nature. There are those lines too, that have a defensive aspect in the sense that they represent a line of “thus far and no farther.” These lines mark the limits beyond which free men meet the forces of repression and subjugation with fire and steel.

Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence that “governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes…,” but when oppression is unrelieved by reasonable appeals to power coupled with repeated protestations of loyalty to the existing order, both types of lines come into play. Governments cross over into naked coercion stripped of the thin veneer of legitimacy conferred by the ballot box and patriots rise to meet the threat. The irresistible force meets the immovable object. That point of collision is the red line. Such a point of collision is looming on the national horizon.

Does a free man, simply by virtue of his humanity, have the right to possess the tools necessary to defend, not only his physical being, but also his personal freedom, against the depredations of the statist lunatics that eternally seek to trample upon the liberty of the people. More broadly, do free people have the inherent right to possess the tools by which to defend that freedom? Those questions are rapidly bringing into focus the red line which, when actively contested, will determine the course of what remains of the Republic.

Of course, the tools of which I speak have varied over the centuries: At our founding, the tool of choice was a long rifle or a musket. Now it is simply the many iterations of the AR-15. The mechanisms are different, but the principle remains the same. Firearms are, after all, just tools. Harmless in and of themselves, the use to which good or evil men put them does not alter their inanimate nature. Only the intent of the man behind the trigger matters.

Let us be clear then, for time is growing short. The nation founded by our ancestors in the last quarter of the 18th century no longer exists. It has not existed in anything likes its original form for over a century. It serves no purpose now to debate the details of our founding or the intent of the Founders. Debating where, or even if, we have gone astray is no longer of any consequence. We have reached a point where not a single person can do or say anything to change the mind of another. The truth is that the legacy of the Founding has been subsumed in the floodtide of revisionism that has swamped the nation. The plain language of the Constitution has not sufficed to secure our freedom. That was to be expected. That our system has worked as well as it has for as long as it has is an aberration unique in human history. Words on parchment are useless, however, if the ideas they express are not first engraved on the hearts of men.

It is pointless to debate with those who worship the state about the issue of “gun control,” or the current euphemism of “gun violence.” That time has passed. No deluge of facts and statistics will alter their view. No argument will persuade them to alter their course. Their stated intent is to remove the means of resistance from the homes and hands of the law abiding. Their desire is to render defenseless those who would stand in the breach in defiance of their depredations. They mean to reduce everything and everyone to one miserable level of existence, leaving us bereft of any means to raise our heads above the level of a serf. They mean to deny us the ability to defend our families, our communities, our property, and ourselves. They mean to have our weapons.

The source of our freedoms is beyond the ken of such people, and the wellspring of our rights beyond their reach. They wander in a statist wilderness bereft of any sense of the demands personal responsibility places upon those who would maintain a free society. They bow down before the golden calf of their feelings and whine about the scourge of “gun violence” as though inanimate firearms recklessly float about the country slaughtering the innocent. Not all the lessons of history will change the minds of those half-helots who presume to call themselves our fellow citizens. They are not. When it comes to the question of personal ownership of weapons, they have surrounded themselves with a minefield of ignorance impenetrable by either the evidence of the present or the lessons of the past.

Our countrymen are those who understand that slavery begins where private ownership of weapons ends. From there, it is only a small step to genocide and neither slavers nor mass murderers wish their victims to have the ability to defend themselves. Those who believe that the state alone should possess the tools of violence are fit only for the cattle cars. Leader or follower, they are the sworn enemies of liberty. Whether malicious in their intent or simply ignorant no longer matters.  Incapable of thinking for themselves, they have surrendered their lives and loved ones to the tender ministrations of the state. Their minds shackled by political and historical ignorance, they will willingly surrender their physical bodies to Leviathan as well. Moreover, they would see those who oppose their totalitarian vision similarly enslaved.  They would shame and browbeat us into submission to their statist vision of the American future. All the usual invective spews from their media organs like sewage from a rusty pipe. Their leaders foolishly believe they can sign away freedoms that reside in no law book, nor find expression on any printed page. The liberty they seek to destroy resides in the hearts of free men and finds expression in the steely grip of patriot hands on the weapons that are, in truth, the final arbiter of freedom. Whether in this or any other nation, that truth is absolute.

The history of the human race is a litany of tyranny and genocide following hard upon the disarming of a people. There is no mystery in this progression. There is no solution other than resistance. We are facing the same hard choices faced by other peoples at other times and in other places.

Only one question of any import now remains. That question requires both a personal and public answer. Will those who truly love not only their own liberty, but also the greater liberty of their fellows, relinquish the one freedom without which all others come under the threat of extinction. Every gun owner must ask himself or herself that question. Our liberty, our property, and, quite possibly, our very lives hang upon the answer. The riflemen of Lexington and Concord understood what was at stake. Their answer birthed the nation. Can we look our children and grandchildren in the eye and do less? Will all, or even most, of those who believe in life, liberty, and property surrender their weapons? When the defining moment arrives, will we settle for less than all three?

The linked article is a stem winding journey that includes Matthew McConnaughy being connected to and through and by to somebody who once saw a Jew in Texas and he has a relative named Maher so he is therefore possibly distantly related to Bill Maher and is thereby possibly a Jew. That is the less looney part.

An Open Letter to Miles Mathis, Part One

(This below is just from the bottom of the above link but is telling .22 …what say you?)

In one of his papers MM uses the term ‘tenner,’ referring to money; it was something like ‘I’d bet a tenner on such-and-such’ or ‘Such-and-such wouldn’t be worth a tenner.’ The closest we can come to this in American English would be ‘tenspot.’ But ‘tenner’? Not only Brit but Cockney Brit. Sorry, ‘Miles’ (if one of you is reading this), but you should tweak your text algorithm to rid your essays of all the Brit shit. Wait! I remember another one! Shite for shit! Here’s one wherein MM gives his opinion of a movie he didn’t care for:

‘I don’t know all the details, since I haven’t watched even one minute of this shite, much less wasted my time…’

How about this from his bogus JFK paper:

With the Kennedy assassination, we had to study Zapruder’s shite flm [sic] shot with a Bell and Howell Zoomatic, although we now know professional cameramen were standing curbside during all the action. [MM’s ‘photo proofs’ that pro cameramen were there are all stills from theatrical films shot later, so the last bit is more disinformation]

Find me even one writer this side of the pond that would stick an ‘e’ on the end of good old American-English ‘shit’! Can you do it?

Noun[edit]

shite (plural shites)

1. (Britain,Ireland, vulgar) Shit, trash, rubbish.
2. (Britain,Ireland, pejorative) A foolish or deceitful

He’s a useless shite. (My emphases)
Yup, Miles, the usage phrase says it all – a useless shite — here referring to whomever proof reads your essays for ‘tells.’

My father used to say…”Now, Hold On! to that thought before it rides off and starts a rumor.”

I discovered a bit aboot linguistic tells over the years.

There are others…

Since I am a photographer I spent most of my time at events on my feet with camera in hand.

The photographer if good is invisible.

I am invisible most times.

Several times when the national anthem played, I would use my telephoto to scan clusters of audience in bleachers or standing on gym floors.

When the first strains of the national anthem come over the speaker you can spot the former military members as they come to a semblance of positions of attention. Even when they try NOT.

In nursing homes too. Now THAT brings a tear

An excellent observation, really.

A great quote!

Here is another..

From The Prose Edda

“The story is that Odin travelled from home and came to a place where nine slaves were cutting hay. He asked if they wanted him to sharpen their scythes.

They agreed.

Then he took a whetstone from his belt and sharpened the scythes. To them it seemed that the scythes now cut much better, and they wanted to buy the whetstone. Odin set this price on the stone: he asked that whoever wanted to buy it should give what he thought was reasonable. They all said they wanted it and each asked to buy it, but instead he threw it into the air. They all scrambled to catch it with the result that they slit each other’s throats with their scythes.”

There is a poster from the early years of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. I have a copy. It shows a Red Army man exhorting his “comrades” to turn in their arms. The unspoken message is that you don’t “need” them in a worker and peasant’s state! A pile of rifles, swords and pistols lies at this feet. I am sure millions of foolish Russians obediently turned in their weapons, trusting in the words of the Communists who promised them heaven on earth. I wonder how many of those same people would have given anything to have those weapons in their hands as they trudged slowly through the snow to a Siberian labor camp or knelt on the edge of a ditch waiting for a bullet in the back of their head, just a few short years into the future. There is a quote from Alexander Solzhenitsyn that goes something like this. “How we burned in the camps to think that we did nothing when the midnight knock on the door came. How many of the state security agents would have continued their work had we even attacked them with frying pans!” You get the picture. A man who allows himself to be disarmed is no man and is certainly no American.
A man who disarms his fellow Americans is a traitor deserving of the gallows. There is nothing more to say on the subject.

Here’s the quote. I keep it handy as it seems to have great relevance in today’s Amerika.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” – Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Even in nations that have placed great legal restrictions on home defense weapons, ways can be and are found to evade them, as should be the case.

Liberal Logic:
Bad guys with guns, they refuse to prosecute because they are brown, or are illegal aliens. When they do prosecute they allow them parole after only 15% of the time served.

Because a bad guy did something with a gun, liberals want ro remove guns from law abiding hands. So does that mean the following:

Because a man raped a woman every man who has a dick must cut it off or be jailed?
Because a man ran over someone with his car out of anger does that mean everyone must walk? They only focus on guns, nothing else.

I could go on for hours with scenarios. But their only narrative is to violate our 4th Amendment by taking our property, property which happens to be protected by the 2nd Amendment. When someone is willing to take your freedom away and label you a criminal, but that freedom which they want to remove is enumerated and protected and any action you take to defend said freedom is pardoned wholly, you best stop them from even speaking of such treason. Sitting back saying nothing, doing nothing now will only encourage them, cause a bigger problem and much more bloodshed in the end. Because they are willing to cause bloodshed make no mistake about it.

How many stood up when the fourth was extinguished? There should have been marches of tens of millions when asset forfeiture took off.

But nothing. So now they are emboldened.

I like the articles passion but red lines are seldom recognized at the time. E.g. raid on Harper’s Ferry by John Brown was an epic failure at igniting a slave revolt in the South. What it did do though was convince most of the South that the North was crazy and would never come to terms and peaceful coexistence was no longer possible. The war was inevitable post Harper’s Ferry. Asset Forfeiture is just obscure/remote enough that most folks don’t think they are affected (until they are).

I think letting Hillary and Obama skate on the coup will be seen by historians as the Rubicon here. There is simply no longer any ability to deny the Constitution is dead and therefore the conflict is now inevitable.

There will be no conflict. TPTB are too entrenched, they own it all, they control the narrative, the media, the schools, the money, they manipulate the economy, it is theirs. We pound away on the keyboards, indignant, angry, frustrated and impotent. Look to Hong Kong, you think those protesters stand a chance? Admire them for their willingness to take a stand against the tyranny of the state but they are outnumbered, out gunned and essentially defenseless and powerless against soldiers with modern weapons and the willingness to use them against civilians.

There will be no criminal prosecutions against Clinton(s), Comey, Obama, et al. Trump is impotent and hamstrung and possibly a stalking horse. We grow old and die and the younger generation has no concept of life without the boot of the government on their necks and in control of every aspect of their lives. The ‘new’ illegal ‘citizens’ are here in numbers large enough to take over communities, cities, states and push out the native population. They’re like asian carp outbreeding the native fish and TPTB don’t care about the caliber or intelligence of the population, they care about control and numbers.

Tampa, way too blanket of a view buddy, those kind of blankets always have big holes in them…Eyes Wide Shut is right.

I was a 19 year old Marine and was ordered over the PRC 25 (radio) kinda/sorta (it’s a long story) to murder an older NVA or Viet Cong who was posing in a remote Ville as a father/husband, a prisoner they didn’t want…caught lying, matter of fact no one in the patrol would do it…and I was in charge of the offer everyone heard over the radio and understood…in code language. We let him run into the bush because there wasn’t one cold blooded murderer among us…a few experienced killers…including me…but no murderers.

Another blanket hole/difference if you have ever walked that RED LINE.

I also have a Nephew (I helped raise him) who is a Cop, another Nephew who is a career Marine (one of the youngest E-7’s in the history of the Corps) and a close Friend who is a Sheriff’s Deputy.

Trust me, not one of these three will cross the moral line…matter of fact all three will hold it no matter the personal cost.

certain military units are kept honed because they might be thrown into the breach yesterday, not today, and many of them are itching 4 action–

Tampa,

Civil War is coming…it’s the perfect solution for TLPTP (The Luciferian Powers That Be) they want it and will ensure that the fuse is lit one day in the 2020’s.

It’s a WIN/WIN/WIN:

1. The US destroys itself.
2. After the mass killing we are no longer a Superpower.
3. TLPTB can deal with the Balkanized remains of the US separately.

Gun Confiscation is the perfect Fort Sumter, but who will be on what side, when, and under what circumstances is not going to be pat with any blanket participant predictions with all the Cops, Deputies, and the Military.

The Red – Blue county election map will be a good general guide of the sides, but even that will have many contradictions both ways.

Remember, there are about 20 million former military within the civilian ranks…and many of the current serving military are their children, grandchildren, and other relatives.

Tampa,

That was an abomination, an outrage, and an un-Constitutional nightmare for the victims. There was a justified massive backlash. I went nuclear when I heard about it.

I lived in New Orleans twice, met my wife there and dealt with the corrupt NOPD when they towed and stole my 1975 tricked out van that was legally parked (this was in 75 – I have actually lived in a van down by the river, and the lake, and the ocean and a lot of other places, it was a BLAST). NOPD almost auctioned it off for their annual NOPD ‘charity’ by hiding it in Slidell Parish (long story).

I was personally threatened by a NO Detective in NOPD HQ and unceremoniously escorted out of the building after I laid out their scam (I had hard evidence) and threated to go to the papers with it. When I say threatened I mean my death was implied as I was run out.

In the long run the gun grab they pulled may have been a good thing as far as what came after. Here are the Federal and State laws against them pulling that shit again.

Print down a copy of the Fed law, here is your state’s law (Florida).

Chapter 252.36(5)(h) states the Governor may:

(h) Suspend or limit the sale, dispensing, or transportation of alcoholic beverages, firearms, explosives, and combustibles. However, nothing contained in ss. 252.31-252.90 shall be construed to authorize the seizure, taking, or confiscation of firearms that are lawfully possessed, unless a person is engaged in the commission of a criminal act.

FINAL WORD
So, there you have it. During our times of disaster, we can all focus on recovery and not have to worry about the authorities coming along and confiscating our firearms. The Second Amendment survives disasters.

https://www.uslawshield.com/can-government-confiscate-guns-disaster/

Those asswipes broke their OATH to uphold the Constitution. I have no doubt there will be others who will do it again if ordered and others who would never obey that order, I still think your BLANKET statement was wrong…but I still like you buddy!

Good thing we have a lot of Oath Keepers protecting .22’s rights. (Smile .22)

An armed population is inconsistent with a police state. So anyone that tells you the US is not trying it’s damndest to become a police state then why are they trying so hard to disarm you. Gun control is people control. They want to disarm North Korea and Iran too. A disarmed country has no choice but to obey the US. Isn’t it funny that what the US government tries to do abroad it also tries to do at home. This is what dictatorships do, they dictate. Just as Kim of NK and any other nation deserves the fundamental right to self-defense, so do individuals. So Kim may be a dictator himself (but only to his own people), but the US is too, the world over. Never give up your guns, not even under threat of death.

It is inevitable Progressivism comes to this.

More, more, more till there is no more.

It’s about getting them to make the first act of violent aggression to gain the moral high ground.

The thing is you got to be a white man to think like this or a well educated injun like Big Injun Chief . There is just not enough of us left anymore. Our America we were born into is gone forever. I fear there is no return . Sooner or late we are have to make a decision. The ” leftist ” hate us and they are planning genocide. It’s in their writings . They tell what they are going to do once they disarm us. For now living in a gun friendly state ruled by men who still believe in the founding documents of our nation is our best defense along with our personal weapons. Having neighbors who still believe in the constitution is another good defense . Even though I have been disappointed with Trump I pray he has a second term in office. He is probably the only one holding these traitors back for now .

If concern over preventable deaths in America were authentic, cigarettes would have been outlawed a long, long time ago. Ditto automobiles, step ladders, swimming pools, and prescription pharmaceuticals, but they aren’t and the government dips it’s beak every time someone uses one of these products letting everyone know exactly what they think of our health and safety.

Disarmament of the population is ALWAYS a precursor to State sponsored mass murder.

I insist upon your opinion of my Decade(nt) Prosperity essay, if Admin posts it. I worked really hard on that essay, trimming thousands of words from what HAD to be five pages or less double spaced twelve point Times New Roman. Ah…. the olden days when column length and font size did matter.

Now, we are free to ramble into infinity, unbounded by the realm of reality.

Oooooohhhhhh…. realm of reality… that’s kind of Nordic, isn’t it?

One of our neighbors (raises beef cattle) baits coyotes in a pasture with road kill. It is gross but part of life. His kids sell the pelts to a furrier.

(No, Quetzalcoatl my pelt did not come from the neighbors)

I mention this because the kids know when Coyote is near because the vultures fly away. Those vultures pick, pick, pick away at the corpse all the time if the pasture is empty.

Like the political class, they engorge themselves then flee when the real Enemy shows.

We do not shoot vultures generally. They clean up and recycle for us.

If by ‘state’ you mean the elite, then it makes sense why the rich want to commit mass murder, there will be no awkward questions asked when the proles find the SS vault is empty.

“ALWAYS” seems a bit extreme to me, but the odds often favor it. I’m waiting to see how it shakes out in my legally-disarmed country that’s loaded with outlaws who think like Ike Clanton: “Law don’t go around here, Law Dog”. We, of course, don’t share Ike’s viewpoint without limits, but we have our breaking point nevertheless.

I do believe they are the problem, indeed, as they provide the power to the politicians.

Fantastic article, Tim. Again, I hear echoes of Thomas Paine in your words. Even so, we will not be fighting Redcoats from across the sea. So, perhaps, a different type of Common Sense is required now.

Libfuks (to Me): “You will never ever convince me of anything you believe. I have zero interest in in even considering as remotely valid anything you say, write, or believe. In other words, I have tuned you out completely. You are my enemy so, fuckoff and die.”

If there are millions like me & the libfuk (and I think that there are) …. then that right there is your recipe for the next Civil War (which, with each passing day, seems more & more inevitable).

That was a most fantastic article. I hope Admin submits it to the websites that publish TBP articles …. and if this does not get picked up, then that would be a travesty!

People like to dream of what they will do if Civil War comes.
Today is Sept. 17, one hundred and fifty-seven years ago the Battle of Sharpsburg MD. was fought, the bloodest day in American history.
My Great Grandfather, a nineteen year old orphan boy stood in the sunken road and shot at thousands of yankees for a couple of hours.
At the museum there at the battlefield is an enlarged photo of D. H. Hill’s troops in the streets of Frederick, one of the few ever taken of Conferate troops on march, maybe my Grandmother’s Daddy was one of them.
Rebels they called them.

I choose to spend my remaining time and energy on showing and telling people how to get “THINGS” after they have been disarmed. It’s as old as the hills but never talked about.
TPTB won’t be able to guard all the goodies with first rate troops or cops. That means Paul Bart will be doing the guarding. Sometimes it will be Barney Fife. If they go to plan B they’ll just spray us with an airborne virus or two. Plan C will be giving hungry hordes of central Americans cover while they overwhelm us.

People need to demand a reckoning and retribution. Those who use the laws to destroy freedom and liberty deserve no consideration for they seek to reduce their fellow citizens to helots. Little consideration can be paid for those so meek they hug the sidelines awaiting a decision, pitiful sheep. These too must be treated for what they are.

For the leadership, their punishments should be public, slow, and lingering to set an example for all to see and remember.
