A prevailing assumption in all of outsider politics, both Left and Right, is that America is headed for a civil war. The details are not all that clear, but that is the assumption. Even the mainstream political types think it is possible. A regular part of Tucker Carlson’s act is to warn his fellow political elites that they better shape up or the else. From time to time polls are done that show Americans are increasingly sure that a civil war is the most probable outcome for the turmoil and conflict of the current year.
At first blush, it is not a silly assumption. After all, empires tend to end in violence, either they are conquered or break apart. Even if you think America is some sort of exception when it comes to being an empire, every society is racked with conflict. It has been over 150 years since the United States has had serious internal distension. The closest to a revolt was the Civil Rights Movement, but the blacks were easily bought off after some protests and riots. America seems due for a violent adjustment.
Further, the far Left assumes they will win such a conflict. How is never explained, as most are noodle armed sissies, but they probably think they will have the full support of the police, like they see at their protests. Maybe the cops will side with the far Left in an armed conflict. If it means keeping their pensions and benefit packages, that’s probably a safe bet. On the other hand, history says police forces tend to scatter quickly when order falters to the point where there is fighting in the streets.
Many on the far Right make the same assumption as the Left, with regards to the outcome, owing to the fact that most of the guns are owned by whites. Those noodle armed Antifa sissies and their mouthy women would not last long in a fair fight, much less an armed fight. That’s certainly true, but if they did have the cops fighting for them that would be different. Then there is the fact that the same people controlling Antifa also run the military, so the gun disparity would change quickly.
The main trouble with the civic war bogeyman is no one bothers to imagine how it would be conjured in the first place. Civil wars are fights between two or more factions, led by members of the elite. The American Civil War was a fight between New England elites and Southern elites. Modern elites, not just in America, but across the West are in lockstep on every important topic. It is inconceivable that they would take up arms against one another. If anything, they will take up arms against the people.
That leaves open the other option for a social war. An armed rebellion of some sort, maybe due to divisions within society that the elites can no longer contain. The Antifa media, for example, harasses the wrong people and the result is organized white terrorism against Progressive targets. Alternatively, the media agitation results in some left-wing street protesters moving from theater to violence. The media did convince that guy to shoot up the Republican softball game a few years back.
The trouble with the rebellion scenario is that a decent rebellion has to be led by people capable of organizing a lot of people. The structure of the Left precludes a rebellion from that side of politics. They control the institutions and the rank and file lack the will and brainpower to go it alone. The Left is not going to revolt against itself, so they will continue to ratchet up their terrorism against everyone else. Red flag laws, for example, will be used to jail dissidents in the near future.
Outside of left-wing circles, organizing a rebellion seems less likely. Blacks like to riot and they have some reason to rebel against the prevailing order. History says they will just burn down their own neighborhoods and loots some local stores. Hispanics seem to be the most passive group in America. As long as they have cheap food and cheap entertainment, they are not rebelling. The squalor of America beats the squalor of back home, so getting them angry enough to rebel seems implausible.
If there is to be a rebellion, it will be among whites, but whites are far from being a monolithic group like blacks. There are regional divides, as well as class divides, which are easily exploited by the people in charge. Ruling class whites, for example, hate all lower class whites. That’s part of what motivated the FBI to spy on the Trump people in the last election. It’s why the IRS harassed white people in the 2012 election. Ruling class whites have a deep loathing for the rest of white America.
At the other end, the working classes have had plenty of reasons to revolt since the 1970’s, when the usual suspects began auctioning off the manufacturing base. In coal country, for example, where you will find the most rebellious whites in America, an all-out war on their way of life has not resulted in much resistance. The semi-urban white working class has continued to support a system that shows every sign of trying to snuff out the white working class. There’s no rebellion in that group.
That leaves the white suburban middle-class, who are certainly the angriest cohort in the country, but they are the most docile too. Perhaps if they fear a real threat to their economic position, they will become less docile, but middle-class revolution remains an oxymoron at this stage. For now, they will remain committed to the system, taking out their anger on politicians at the ballot box. Even though voting has had no impact on the trajectory of American society, it seems to be enough for this class.
Even if you can conjure a scenario in which a group revolts or the ruling class splits, resulting in a civil war of some type, it’s hard to imagine it being violent. For starters, rebelling against the local police department, much less the military is laughably implausible, given the disparity in firepower. Even small town cops these days have been militarized. They have assault units, armored vehicles, drones and electronic surveillance equipment. America is literally a police state now.
Rebellion would have to be guerrilla war, turning the weight of the surveillance state against itself. Instead of blowing stuff up, the rebellion of the future will be placing racist material in strategic locations, forcing the police to spend hundreds of man hours looking for invisible Nazis. More sophisticated tactics will require infiltration of ruling class assets, so rebels can easily and surreptitiously throw sand in the gears of the custodial state. The war will be fought in cubicles, not the streets.
Now, this may seem depressing at first blush, but civil wars and rebellion never encompass the whole of the society. The American Revolution directly involved about five percent of the population. The American Left radicalized the country with less than 20% support among whites. For those hoping to see the next American civil war, it will not take much of a change in the above dynamics to get the conditions for it. A serious economic catastrophe or a major foreign policy setback could be enough.
There’s also the fact that the nature of rebellion changes with the times. The rebels of the agrarian age faced men with bayonets and muskets. Men with muskets and rifles hiding in the woods could do real damage to their rulers. In the industrial age, general strikes and urban riots were enough to counter state power. In the information age, the rebellion will be about sapping the strength of the rulers, with regards to their ability to control data. Unplugging a data center will be the new terrorism.
When you start to puzzle through it, the probability of an old fashioned civil war is close to zero, while armed rebellion is in the single digits. Things will have to change a lot for the conditions to be right. On the other hand, a new type of rebellion, one suited for the age and the sorts of people unhappy with the system, is increasingly likely. Middle-class mom giving company passwords to rebel hackers is a likely scenario. The revolution of the future will be low-grade and mostly non-violent.

Mostly I think all movements will go underground. People will be less likely to go to or talk in public places. We see this already with the NFL and NASCAR attendance. It’s a much more enjoyable experience to watch on a 75″ TV than to mess with the traffic, crowds, and high prices.
What’s happening is the progressive left media and the establishment politicians are driving out all conservatives from government. No white, Christian, conservative, normal human is going to want to wrestle in the mud with the communist socialist pigs that make up the democrat party (don’t get me wrong, half or more of republicans are also supporters of big centralized government, or “statists” if you will). Conservative whites are being “shamed” out of government and out of public discourse. Our voices are being silenced. The internet is now being censored of our thoughts and ideas as well. All that will be left in the end are the crazies.
If you’ve ever seen the movie The Hunger Games, the stark difference between the people in the cities (and in the central government) and the working class in the rural zones, is a look into our our future. Those in the cities in control of the resources (our taxes) and political power, will be living high on the hog. Those who are unconnected will be tax slaves for big government and those that are dependent on government largess. We’re not far from that end state now.
Fine example, my friends in their fifties, early sixties, had monthly health insurance premiums of about $600 prior to Obamacare. Now the same couple is paying $2900 per month with MUCH higher co-pays. They are insurance premium slaves for those getting free or subsidized Obamacare. This situation is only going to get worse as the collective government moves farther left into the realm of socialism and ultimately communism.

This one was of real interest, because I live in Argentina and there is genuine concern that our next gov may have exactly the Venezuela idea in mind, and Argentina is often a dress rehearsal for future events in the USA. Folks here go along to get along because to do otherwise is very difficult. Once thoroughly provoked, however (gun ownership notwithstanding) , things can get funky in a hurry. Can’t see that in the USA. Passivity seems to be the norm up there.
Perhaps you would be kind enough to offer an explanation of why, in your opinion, Argentina does not attempt to go back to whatever they were doing when they were one of the wealthiest nations in the world, even having aircraft carriers post WW2? Argentina has had Peronism, communist insurgencies, dirty wars, juntas and finally the Kircheners. Having seemingly tried everything, what prevents the attempt to recreate the golden years? Imho, Argentina has always been an agricultural society and when the country was wealthy, it was because its commodities had high prices while the rest of the world dealt with war. Its downfall came about through excessive public employment of the unqualified and was worsened by the mess they created. The “golden years” might come about if the financialized world comes a cropper or gets involved in major wars, but unless and until the country can create value-added products from its raw materials, it will remain a backwater and a vassal to more industrially/technologically productive nations.
There is poverty, but there is also a growing middle-class now threatened by another financial collapse. Too much corruption, too little taking of responsibility. Yet in spite of its laughing-stock state, parts of it are delightful in which to live:good soil, available water, mild climate, pure air and pleasant people.
It seems like a place that with the right breaks would be exceptionally attractive. I have heard Argies say “It’s the whitest country south of Canada.” I know that was true once upon a time if not still today.

It’s tough to predict how cops and the military would act if given mass gun confiscation orders. Presumably they would isolate those most well-armed and outnumber them overwhelmingly. They could largely be identified by their online purchases and their having used credit and debit cars to buy ammunition.
I think people have almost no idea how track-able they are – if the behemoth is determined. Not only does your cell phone tell them where you are and where you’ve been, but it listens to you and reports back. Security cameras are everywhere, even on people’s houses with their Ring doorbell cameras reporting to 400 police departments and with their videos being archived. Facial recognition will become more powerful and more ubiquitous.
On the one hand, the American military hasn’t been able to control Afghanistan- a country of 25 million. On the other hand, this ain’t Afghanistan. Most people’s every move and every cent spent is recorded.

Don’t know what state you live in, but I can say with certainty that most from Wyoming, and many from Arizona totally agree with you. Most I know have multiple firearms, not merely one or more, but many, and a lot of ammunition, especially the ones who self load. And, as for the older population, that may be the hardest to figure out, as most have no fear of dying and are fully locked and loaded. Have always thought the estimation of 200-300 million guns in the U.S. is way, way below the actual number, as I never met anyone in Wyoming, for instance, who did not have a gun collection, not just a gun for protection. A more realistic number may well be at least 500 million. I also never met anyone who would brook any attempts to take their guns, or ammo.

Its a matter of where you live. City folks like cops and big gov. They can’t grow much food and for a large part are unarmed and easily bought off with free shit. Another excellent article by Zman, but I would urge caution. It is certainly true that it is hard to imagine how an actual civil war or mass internal conflict could come about in the United States. Unfortunately, history has shown that things like civil war can come completely out of left field, sparked by events nobody expected. I personally think that such a civil war, if you can call it that, could be the result of a major (really major) financial collapse combined with a contested election in which one side or the other refused to recognize a presidential election and actually attempted to overturn it. I am not talking about the sleazy, clownish coup attempt made against Trump last time, which is now sputtering to an ignominious close.
Let us assume that Trump wins a close election in 2020 but the Democrats in several states flatly declare that his election was fraudulent (or the other way around with a Democrat winner). Close on the heels of an election, the economy goes into a real tailspin. Congress splits, state governors support one or the other candidate as the “legitimate” president, the Supreme Court heads for the tall grass. Violent incidents between the two sides result in significant deaths and injuries. One candidate or the other attempts to use the military or Federal law enforcement (or the Federalized National Guard) to “impose order”. Imagine that one side or the other imposes extremist policies, such as gun confiscation or opening the borders, as a means of proving they are really in charge.
These scenarios could cause any number of outcomes, including a civil conflict in all or large parts of the country. Don´t turn in your AR-15 to Beto yet, friends.
Yes, the resolution of social tension is likely to be highly chaotic. I don’t see simply two side: think that’s artificial civic nationalism. During the darkest days of the Carter administration, 1979, my job was at risk, had just a small emergency fund, a wife and a two year old.
I was worried, bought 10 pales of freeze dried staples, a pistol, a shotgun, and a rifle.
Still had it all for Y2K!
By 2002 I had moved my family seven times and kept every one of those pales, but the 25 year drop dead date was coming…and over the next two years I opened and ate every single bean, and every single grain of rice! My wife would smile when I opened a new pale knowing I was not going to waste a bean. It all tasted good with seasoning.
In 2008/9 I shifted back into Prep 2nd then 3rd gear, when the Petulant was re-elected I shifted into 4th, and now with what I think is inevitable I have power shifted into 5th and punched the pedal to the metal.
Better eating old preps…then sitting in the dark with a can of dog food…like most may end up doing.

Yea, I have a hard time getting my long suffering Prepper’s wife to rotate…I had two cases of freeze dried pancake mix with a few cans that puffed up a bit…after 18 months, contacted the company, Augasun Farms, they said it was just the baking soda they use, but they replaced both cases!
I was thrilled as I only had a few cans showing a bulge.

Find me another Amendment that has so many provisions as the 2nd. Imagine if the first amendment has similar encumbrances as the 2nd. It would look like this:
-any pens, pencils, keyboards must be regulated and be licensed and sold through approved dealers
-fast writing, fully automatic writing devices must have a special license, storage restrictions, usage restrictions and counless annual dollars spent to remain compliant
-in some states you must store your writing devices away and separately locked up securely from paper, computer or any other means of allowing written word to take place with ease. We do not want people “blogging when angry”. We cannot have that!
-special, additional sanctions will occur if unlicensed or minors have access to your writing instruments. You will be held especially accountable for that.
-people who use writing instruments that are too effective and cause mass brainwashing or cause masses to become unbrainwashed must be stopped. We should ban all writing instruments. We do not need the written word anyways. We all know when someone wants something, they can just grunt or expose themselves. We would understand their needs. Writing instruments are bad.
