The Deep State’s Deep State Department

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

For now, it comes down to this: the US State Department is at war with the White House.  State’s allies in the Democratic majority congress want to help overthrow the occupant of the White House because he’s interfering in the department’s foreign policy. The lifers at State are the same ones who executed a coup in 2014 against Ukraine’s government and threw out the elected president Victor Yanukovych because he tilted to join a Russian-backed regional customs union rather than NATO.  State’s diplomatic lifers are old hands at coups. Now they’re at it at home, right here in the USA.

Ever since the Maidan Revolution of 2014, they have worked sedulously to exert control over Ukrainian affairs. And they especially can’t stand that the recently elected president Zelensky declared that he wants to improve his country’s relationship with next-door-neighbor (and ex-sovereign) Russia. The occupant of the White House, Mr. Trump, had often expressed a similar interest to improve the USA’s relations with Russia. State would prefer to amp up a new cold war. Mr. Trump has some nerve interfering with that!

The lifers at State also have something to hide: their exertions to connive with Ukraine government officials they controlled to interfere in the 2016 US presidential election in favor of their former boss, Mrs. Clinton. The current impeachment spectacle is an attempt to pitch a smokescreen over that embarrassing mess, which includes the CIA’s and FBI’s efforts to blame Russia for their own illegal interventions in the 2016 election — the heart of the three-year impeachment narrative. The Joe-and-Hunter Biden affair is the left anterior descending artery in that heart.

The current testimony in the House Intel Committee raises another question. Whose back-channel diplomats are legitimate in US foreign policy: Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudolf Giuliani, or State’s own boy, billionaire freelance international political adventurer George Soros? The president dispatched Mr. Giuliani to Ukraine because he didn’t trust the State lifers to get to the bottom of the mischief emanating from Kiev during the 2016 election, in which State lifers played an active role, along with Mr. Soros and his agents — in particular an outfit called the AntiCorruption Action Center, jointly funded by Mr. Soros and State (i.e. US taxpayers).

Mr. Soros’s AntiCorruption Action Center was one entity that then US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch submitted to Ukraine’s then General Prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko on a “do not investigate” list, according to reporter John Solomon (story here). Solomon writes:

In other words, State was confirming its own embassy had engaged in pressure on Ukrainian prosecutors to drop certain law enforcement cases, just as Lutsenko and other Ukrainian officials had alleged…. More recently, George Kent, the embassy’s charge d’affaires in 2016 and now a deputy assistant secretary of state, confirmed in impeachment testimony that he personally signed the April 2016 letter demanding Ukraine drop the case against the Anti-Corruption Action Centre.

Translation: an activist US embassy meddled in Ukraine’s internal political affairs. That’s a breach of international law. No doubt Marie Yovanovitch will be asked about these matters starting in about 15 minutes from as I write. Mr. Soros funded a network of nonprofits operating in Ukraine going back a decade, including the International Renaissance Foundation, the Open Society Foundation, Project Syndicate, and the CIA-connected Atlantic Council, which also received millions in support from Ukrainian gas pipe oligarch Victor Pinchuk. (Guess who else is a consort of the Atlantic Council — International Man of Mystery and 2016 election meddler Joseph Mifsud.) In 2015, Pinchuk paid $150,000 to Donald Trump’s foundation for Mr. Trump to speak by video-link to a Kiev conference for strengthening Ukraine’s ties to the West. At the same time, Pinchuck had contributed $25 million to the Clinton Foundation.

As you can see, the relationship between Ukraine and the USA since 2012 has developed more rabbit holes than Watership Down. Ukraine also happens to be an economic basket-case with a GDP equal to about half the GDP of Connecticut. Poor Ukraine, a semi-failed state of our own making, used by the State Department as a launching pad for intrigues against both Russia and the President of the United States. Maybe Mr. Trump sincerely wants to clean up that mess and shut down the State Department’s rogue outside operations channel as represented by George Soros. If only they can get rid of Mr. Trump, wouldn’t that make everything just peachy again (though probably not so much for Ukraine)?

This impeachment gambit strikes me as an odd tactic by the the Democrats. Even under Mr. Schiff’s iron hand, a lot of details they do not want exposed are coming to light. The few minutes of Yovanovich’s testimony I could stand watching gives the impression that she feels it is Trump’s duty to execute her policy in Ukraine, rather than the other way around. She will face some lively cross-examination about that from the Republicans, who will also delve into her knowledge and opinion of Hunter and Joe’s Excellent Adventure. And do they really want to vote for impeachment, when it will be tried in the Senate with Cocaine Mitch running things? As Schiff has made clear, there are no procedural or evidentiary rules in an impeachment, you get to set your own. Mitch will decide what gets in and what is irrelevant, and I will expect to hear a lot about the Excellent Adventure, and very little hearsay evidence–i.e. the bulk of the Democrat’s case–which will be ruled inadmissible. Mitch will then string this out through the holiday season, when no one will be watching, which will also keep the Senators running for President off the campaign trail. Double bonus points!

I always thought the Democrats were crazy to back a corrupt stiff like Hillary for President, but that was a minor faux pa when compared to watching Schiff going full retard–you never go full retard–in this joke of an impeachment.

The first paragraph may be the single most effective use of words on this subject I have yet read. That singular insight- the State Department’s power and experience coming home to roost- should be front and center in every story playing out today. That it completely absent from all discussion tells you everything there is to know.

Exactly. The Deep State has been fomenting coups in the Middle East, Central America, and various other places for a century. Most Americans were oblivious to that, or didn’t care about it. The current coup against Trump is just the next step in the progression of those coups. Now Americans are finding out the hard way why we should have cared about those previous coups, although most probably won’t figure it out.

You know what foreign service diplomats on the inside call US embassies? The Mission. They consider what they do as service to the Mission.

I’m serious. And they are some of the most pampered thumb suckers you will find anywhere on earth. Nearly everything they do abroad is out of the public eye and a lot of their spending is hidden elsewhere in government accounting.

Seen it first hand.

Yup, Kunstler nailed it. Too bad he didn’t give a mention to ol’ Cookies Nuland and her hideous husband Robert Kagan as well. Victoria, of ‘fuck the EU’ fame engineered the coup to overthrow Yanukovych. Hubbie Robert and her, along with Soros founded the Project for a New American Century.

Another Neocon ‘Regime Change’

Much of what has happened, of course, was predictable and indeed was predicted, but neocon Nuland couldn’t resist the temptation to pull off a “regime change” that she could call her own.

Her husband (and arch-neocon) Robert Kagan had co-founded the Project for the New American Century in 1998 around a demand for “regime change” in Iraq, a project that was accomplished in 2003 with President George W. Bush’s invasion.

As with Nuland in Ukraine, Kagan and his fellow neocons thought they could engineer an easy invasion of Iraq, oust Saddam Hussein and install some hand-picked client in Iraq, Ahmed Chalabi was to be “the guy.” But they failed to take into account the harsh realities of Iraq, such as the fissures between Sunnis and Shiites, exposed by the U.S.-led invasion and occupation.

It’s not only State and Justice but Defense as well. Long time ago (late 80’s and on) there were competent uniforms in positions that supported the services and their specific missions. They were there to support the forces as well as learn the workings of the building before the took battalion and brigade command slots (Navy/Air Force/Marine different terminology) As time wore on and beginning with the Gulf War the number of civil service began moving into important slots as uniforms were deployed worldwide on critical missions. This suited the suits just fine as the began building their power base and have yet to either give it up or be legally devested of it in a mission change.

This is a quiet takeover of the government and suits only those who can benefit from it…….and it isn’t an infantry company commander and his men…….These rice bowls are breaking and the potential for long tours at Ft. Levanworth are stark and up there for many. I am talking about the United States Army Disciplinary Barracks and not the Command and General Staff College……

Expect it to get worse before it gets better…….

My fear is that TPTB would not be putting on this impeachment charade unless they were confident it will be successful in getting rid of Trump. Most of us never thought it would progress this far. But is has. Most of us, including Kunstler, thought that we’d already have indictments against key players in the deep state by now. But even thought these are expected to happen “any day now,” they haven’t happened for the past year. Most of us thought Biden would drop out of the race after news came out that he and his son were on the take. But he hasn’t.

I think that no matter what the public thinks, the cabal that truly runs this county is going to carry these festivities to the end and push Trump out of the White House before the 2020 election. At that point, while some Trump hates will celebrate, most of the population will probably realize the USA is no longer a democracy, republic, or anything other than an oligarchy where elections don’t matter and laws only apply to the dirt people.

I think they have painted themselves into corner and if they do not follow through, their base will vote against them or not show up. By putting the clown show on TV, the public has the opportunity to see the deep state in action and will be repulsed by what has become of their government.

I see it as lose – lose for the dems and deep state.

Half the country is stupid beyond belief, no way they’ll do anything except regurgitate the script the media feeds them. They hate Trump, Orange Man Bad, and lack the capacity to understand what is really at stake here, namely the overthrow of an elected official thus effectively turning the US into an official banana republic.

The Deep State is not a war with the Zionist Whitehouse . Deep State is at war with the Bolshevik wing of the US government and the desperate Bolshevik controlled left has declared scorched earth policy against the Zionist executive branch . America is in the grips of a full blown civil war betwixt Nationalists/Zionists and Internationalists/Marxists. Americans no longer have a Representative government. It’s Bolsheviks and Zionists all the way down.

Flash…I think you are exactly right on what two major Game of Throne Crime Families are slugging it out.

I have been saying the same thing with different words.

The Bush Crime Family (headed by Georgie W since Poppy went home to hell) made a truce with Trump and the Zionists backing him last December. Barr, the Bush family consigliere, was put into the AG role to oversee the terms of the truce, the critical one protecting the Bush Family and in return the Mueller attack was ended with a wimper, and the appropiate performance by Mueller.

No more breath mints for Bolshevik Big Mike from Georgie W.

Should the Man From Queens somehow not be impeached and then found guilty by the Senate and survives the presidential election in 2020, then, and only then, will The Deep State be in deep shit. DJT will go after the whole kit-and-kaboodle with extreme prejudice.

What little of the impeachment inquisition I have watched, it seems that Foggy Bottom does not like the foreign policy of the President and wants him removed so they can continue to run foreign affairs as they see fit. I thought the Constitution gave the responsibility of dealing with foreign governments to the President, therefore he is responsible for setting the agenda and anyone from State who does not follow policy should be terminated.

That is their cover story. What they want is the continuing rainfall of hundreds of millions in donations to their groups like the Clinton Foundation and board seats as bribes for connected people and their children, all under the guise of “only we know how to talk to foreigners.”
HOW MANY of the children and spouses of the Uniparty are sitting on boards receiving unexplainably large compensations and stock options? Will any of the media ask that question?

When you hear that there is a list containing people who should not be prosecuted, in an organization dedicated to fighting corruption, you have to ask yourself “wtf”

like: wtf do these people know or who do they control that makes them untouchable
or, how much money do you have to pay to get on that list.

It is truly a sad day, watching this spectacle unfold, knowing that nothing will come of it, and that all the rats will return to their sewers, with pensions for life.

what comes next?
does anyone think this well end well?

it’s like watching a slow motion train wreck, where two trains are on the same track, heading towards each other, with no watchman on the switch.
