It Snowed, So I Made A Snowman…

8:10 – A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn’t make a snow woman.

8:15 – So, I made a snow woman, too.

8:17 – My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman’s voluptuous chest saying it objectified snow women everywhere.

8:20 – The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it should have been two snow men instead.

8:22 – The transgender man…woman…person…asked why I didn’t just make one snow person with detachable parts.

8:25 – The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot nose, as veggies are food and not to decorate snow figures with.

8:28 – I am being called a racist because the snow couple is white.

8:31 – The Muslim across the road demands the snow woman wear a burqa.

8:40 – The Police arrive saying someone has been offended.

8:42 – The feminist neighbor complained again that the broomstick of the snow woman needs to be removed because it depicted women in a domestic role.

8:43 – The council equality officer arrived and threatened me with eviction.

8:45 – TV news crew from the ABC station shows up. I am asked if I know the difference between snowmen and snow-women? I reply, “Snowballs” and am now called a sexist.

9:00 – Now I’m on the News as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobic, sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather.

9:10 – I am asked if I have any accomplices. My children are taken by social services.

9:29 – Far left protesters And Muslim ‘immigrants’, offended by everything, are marching down the street demanding that I be beheaded.

Moral? There is no moral to this story. It’s just a view of the world in which we live today…and it is only getting worse and worse.

Gulda.
Playing and conducting
Mozart’s piano # 21.
Of 3 movements, the 2nd one,
(the slowest) is the theme song from Elvira Madigan, if I’m not mistaken.
Enjoy.

If you can’t put aside the historical blemishes of Catholics, Christianity, the Vatican, then stop reading.

If, however, you are intrigued by my temporary moniker with this post, continue reading.

From a seasonal pamphlet for the Advent season…(more about that on Christimas Eve-stay tuned)

“The words of the angel at the Annunciation to Mary (“The Lord is with you’)
have become part of the Mass.

In the original Greek, and in the Latin into which it was translated, there is no verb
-simply “The Lord with you”, which, in Latin, is “Dominus tecum”

When saying that to more than one person (as I am here, to my faithful friends on the platform),
-the ‘you’ is plural: “Dominus vobiscum”

Are the angel’s words to Mary a declaration, or are they a good wish?
-If a declaration, it would be translated: “The Lord is with you.”
-If a good wish, “The Lord be with you.”

In Mary’s case, given the context, it would seem to be a declaration, and that is how it is translated
in most English versions of Luke’s Gospel.

But when used as a good wish among Christians, it is translated as “The Lord be with you.”
-similar to “Good-bye”, a contraction of “God be with you”
-Well wishes of Peace and good will.

This same greeting / blessing is found in some other New Testament writings.
For example:

“May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.
The Lord be with all of you.”
(2 Thessolonians, chapter 3, verse 16)

“The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with all of you.”
(2 Timothy, 4: 22)

Now, for some interesting historical biography…

From the left hand page of today’s pamphlet entry, as reported:
(“Yah-buts”, …kindly suspend your fact checking, and roll with it.)

Based on his life-style, it did not seem likely that the 16th century artist
Michaelangelo Merisi de Caravaggio would become known for religious art.

Born in 1571, he lived during the Counter-Reformation when the Catholic Church was trying to attract former Catholics who had left the Church during the Protestant Reformation.

Orphaned as a young boy, Caravaggio was apprenticed to an artist in Milan, and later moved to Rome at the age of 19.

In 1595, he found his first patron, Cardinal Francesco del Monte, an influential churchman at the Vatican.

The artist led a tumultuous life. He was a notorius brawler, and his police records and the transcripts of his trial proceedings filled several pages.

Matthew the Evangelist was a favorite subject for Michaelangelo.
In 1602, the artist’s new patron, a French cardinal, commissioned him to paint two pictures of St. Matthew for the Contarelli Chapel in the Church of St. Louis, the national church for the French community in Rome.

In his first version of “St. Matthew and the Angel”, Caravaggio portrayed a barefoot, peasant-looking Matthew who looked more human than divine.
The cardinal rejected the artwork.
The oil painting was purchased by an Italian nobleman, and it eventually became part of the
Kaiser Friedrich Museum in Berlin, Germany.
It is believed to have been destroyed in a fire at the museum during World War II.

Caravaggio’s second version of St. Matthew and the Angel was accepted and can still be seen above
the altar in the chapel today.
It shows Matthew hard at work writing his Gospel, while an angel appears to direct his hand.

On May 29, 1606, Michaelangelo accidentally killed a man and fled from Rome.
In 1610, Caravaggio died from and illness, while on the run from police on murder charges.
