Iceland Buried in 30 foot Snowfall

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

The biggest snowstorm in recorded memory has hit Iceland. The Emigration Center is under 30 feet of snow. It has never snowed like this so horses typically remained outside and not in barns. This snowstorm has killed up to 80 horses. Nobody has ever seen a winter like this before. They must be calling this “global warming” just as insurance companies sell death insurance by calling it the opposite – Life Insurance. They certainly do not pay if you never die.

Oh, my! Does this bring back memories of white outs at Keflavik NAS?

I’ve been in a lot of heavy snowfall, but never anything like that. When I was a kid we got about 10 feet or so a couple of winters. Enough to step off of a house at the eaves onto snow. Some of the drifts were monsters.

I was reading a history of the town I live in (Candia, NH). One story told of a winter in the 1700’s where it snowed up to and over rooflines. The best part was a report of a pig falling down a chimney.

There were days when we could only leave the barracks if there was a cable in place to hold onto to prevent being blown away by 60mph+ gusts. I saw 9-passenger vans blow over.

It was really awesome to be there when the whole world was completely white no matter which direction you looked. So, you realize why you didn’t leave the doorway unless there was a cable guarateed to NOT let go of its hook.

Icelanders are a tough bunch of people.

Good thing global warming happened.

No lie; they would’ve had 50 ft levels, otherwise.

Only because the roof caved in from 30 feet of snow, killing them while sleeping…..

I just knew there was a reason it was called Iceland.

“Emigration Center is under 30 feet of snow.”

God is telling those fools to keep Iceland white; too bad they don’t believe in God.

If it keeps snowing they’ll find Him soon enough.

The solar minimum will be used to get rid of people. Has anyone heard anything about getting prepared?

I call BS. Thirty ft of snow would bury all the houses. I have seen more snow from a one foot snowfall

Is because it snows sideways at the top of the world and it blows into the ocean. Sometimes, an island of snow and ice forms and the Icelandic government sends a boat out to stick a flag on it.

(Only half joking… after an underwater volcano formed a small island off the coast, the Island nation (Iceland) did exactly that.. claimed the new land mass for Iceland. All half-acre or so.)

Trust me… There are snow drifts that cover buses and buildings. It is amazing to walk out and see nothing but white where there was a bunch of military equipment, buildings and dormitories the day before. They are still there… just completely covered.
