Virginia Gun Sales Soar As Dems Consider Draconian “Assault Weapons” Ban

Via ZeroHedge

Ever since Virginia’s Democrats retook the state assembly and Senate in November, Democratic Gov. Ralph “blackface” Northam and the legislature have been gearing up to pass a draconian gun control bill.

Unsurprisingly, many Virginians feel strongly about preserving their second amendment rights, and the state has traditionally enforced a more permissive stance toward firearm ownership. But now, lawmakers are tossing around ideas like an “assault weapons ban” – language that has been criticized as vague and even nonsensical. Several moderate Democrats have even expressed reservations about supporting a sweeping gun-control bill if it includes the ban.

“A lot of people don’t really understand assault weapons and how complicated the issue really is,” said Democratic Sen. John Edwards. “It’s going to be very difficult to figure out a way to do it. But we’re studying it, that’s all I can say.”

And yet, lawmakers are pressing ahead, prompting a vicious backlash that has even prompted Gov. Northam to declare a state of Emergency because armed militia groups planned to storm the capitol.

As the gun-control debate rages, thousands of Virginians have been rushing to gun stores across the state to buy up firearms before it’s too late.

Per Fox 5 Washington DC:

“Business has been absolutely crazy,” explained Jerry Rapp, owner of SpecDive Tactical in Alexandria. Rapp said business has increased by 200 to 300 percent since the last election, although that doesn’t mean the news is all good for the gun shop owner and his customers. “People are really on edge. They’re worried about their Second Amendment rights. They’re worried about the future of what you can and cannot have as a firearm.”

As one gun buyer put it, since Democrats have expressed open hostility to the 2nd Amendment, it makes more sense to just be prepared.

“If they’re willing to make laws that will strip your second amendment right, I mean who’s to say what could happen, so yeah, I’m gonna get it while I can,” Roberson said.

According to FBI data, the number of firearm background checks ballooned in Virginia last month to nearly 77,000, up from 53,000 a year before. That’s an increase of roughly 45%. That’s in keeping with a national trend that we highlighted earlier this month.

President Trump has even chimed in, warning that your “2nd Amendment is under very serious attack”.

Meanwhile, communities across Virginia are already looking into ways to sidestep any new state laws. The map below shows the counties that have enacted, or are considering, “Second Amendment Sanctuary” legislation.

The gun control debate has already ratcheted up tensions across the state. And things are only just getting started.

By and large people are not going to turn in firearms in Virginia or anywhere else.
The insanity of govt actions/inaction seen daily ensures people will keep weapons to protect themselves from that very govt.
It beyond obvious our govt can’t be trusted. With financial collapse and other societal concerns ready to erupt you would have to be mentally deficient to surrender your final line of defense against criminals and corrupted govt agents.

There is no bill of rights without the 2nd.

“The militia is the natural defense of a free country against sudden foreign invasions, domestic insurrections, and domestic usurpation of power by rulers. The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of the republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally … enable the people to resist and triumph over them. Steve: They may not turn anything in but they won’t be able to buy any more. Virginia dealers will be basically put out of bidness if this shit is signed into law. No more guns, mags, parts, &TC. Sure, revolvers, bolt actions and some shotties will probably still be legal to buy. For now. The communists that run The Old Dominion have said that Virginia will be the template for national gun control.

Not necessarily. They will still be able to do business online. Maryland is even worse and they have dealers who do the majority of their business out-of-state.

You are absolutely correct. And there are dealers online with FFLs who sell to anyone who can pay and provide another FFL to receive and transfer in person, which is how MD gunstores with huge inventories can sell stuff that is otherwise regulated out of existence from MD.

It is a very competitive market and competition drives down margins for the seller. Some of the bigger dealers buy a lot of used surplus and resell it at a handsome profit.

I don’t think things are going to end well if this gun control BS keeps moving forward like this. There are hard lessons on the horizon I feel. It is a tragedy to see our elected officials take this path of circumventing the Constitution and Bill of Rights. We are truly a country divided because of these idiots.

Then, like booze a hundred years ago the market will exist in a different form. The free market works even when assholes like gov. coonman try to stop it.

All those Virginian people will have to do is drive across either the border with Kentucky or West Virginia, go to a flea market, and there will be lots of firearms and ammunition they can buy. Paper and government free.

When the government tells you that you don’t need a gun, then it’s time to get a gun.

I’ve never ever had the desire to own one of those ugly black rifles. We haven’t won a war (or a police action) since their introduction. Ever since the boating accident where all of my firearms sank in the deep part of the lake, I’m getting an urge to buy a pile of parts kits, 80% lowers, & the tooling to improve them, but they’re still just fucking ugly. Maybe I’ll spring for an M1A. Much nicer to look at & fondle. It uses 7.62×51 (308 Win.) instead of a pipsqueak varmint caliber too.

Godless Progs and their scum-sucking socialist friends want to insure there’s no retribution for their thieving ways. Right now they seem to think bad legislation will cow people into submission, allowing them to steal more with impunity. Civil asset forfeiture and “legalized” theft of private property needs to be nullified.
Prepare accordingly. Lead, gold, steel. They don’t seem to get it – until they get it, which is how they want it.

Americans say tyranny is wonderful because the US has always been a police state, but what if the USA used to have freedom and lost it?

Even if the US never had freedom, does that mean liberty is bad?

Did the USA have curfews, NSA wiretapping, checkpoints, forfeiture, the end to the right to silence, free speech bans, torture, kill lists, no fly lists, searches without warrants, private prisons, mandatory minimums, 3 strikes laws, DNA databases, CISPA, SOPA, NDAA, IMBRA, FBAR, FATCA, TSA groping, secret FISA courts, redlight cameras, license plate readers, and Jade Helm in 1980?

Did Americans have gun bans, business licenses, Social Security numbers, sales, income, or property taxes in 1890?

Were drugs, alcohol, smoking, gambling, and prostitution illegal in 1880?

The way to send a strong message to the gov’t of Virginia is to shut down business activity in the state, not some stunt protest that they will infiltrate or false flag to allow the media to publicize the evils of gun owners.

If 5% or more of the population didn’t show up for work every Monday from now on, the business community and the media would be forced to respond.

If your 2nd Amendment rights are important, then surely losing your job temporarily is better than getting shot or being used in a propaganda operation that the gov’t controls. The protest is the most obvious way to respond, but not the smartest.

One of the things The second amendment is for is dealing with an out of control Gov. You know, the kind that tries to take away rights and freedoms. I figure that soon it will come down to violence. I won’t be surprised when someone uses their gun and takes out someone they feel is violating their rights and taking away their freedoms. Slaves and Prisoners don’t have guns. I remember the Arab spring and the police and soldiers shooting protesters.

People in other states are paying attention to Virginia. In Kentucky, about 4 days ago, Greenup County became a 2nd Amendment County. On January 7, the neighboring county and my home, Boyd County, became a 2nd Amendment County. The number is gradually increasing weekly.
