Chinese Nurse Says 90,000 Already Infected In Emotional Plea For Help

Via ZeroHedge

A viral video, reposted on Twitter 48 hours ago, has more than 800k views and reveals an urgent message from a Wuhan nurse, who claims more than 90,000 people in China have been infected with the fast-spreading coronavirus.

An unverified translation of the nurse, posted by @purplelovehime, has been retweeted more than 13.7k times since Saturday, states: “I am Jin Wei. I am currently inside the Wuhan outbreak region, Han Hou area. I would like to describe the condition inside the Hubei province, as well as the outbreak situation in the entire China. Currently, there are already 90,000 cases of pneumonia contraction.”

“What is the rate of contraction? If one person contracted this disease and is not properly quarantined and treated, this I individual will infect 14 people that came in contact with him. That is a significant multiplier. During the spring festival, in our culture, families like to get together, dine together. But this is unlike any other years. I hope that people can stay home, do not gather, and do not visit families. There is a spring festival every year. If everyone can stay safe, you can always get together later,” the unverified translation of the nurse said.

The translation went on to say that medical supplies from bio suits, medical masks, goggles, and gloves “are in great shortages.”

The nurse, in an emotional plea, said everyone in Wuhan and surrounding cities to “not go out! Stay home!”

The translation ended with the nurse delivering some “very bad news:”

The coronavirus has mutated. It is now a second-generation virus. When it was still in its first generation, we were still able to treat this… However, after the last mutation, it became deadly… The rate of infection are now increasing exponentially. So please remember do not go out, do not visit people, do not gather in a group, do not have dinner party.”

We noted on Sunday that about 5 million residents had already left Wuhan before the lockdown started. This could suggest that many people carrying the coronavirus, during the incubation period, could spread the virus without them even knowing it.

“From observations, the virus is capable of transmission even during the incubation period,” said Ma Xiaowei, the minister in charge of China’s National Health Commission (NHC), adding that the incubation period lasted from one to 14 days. “Some patients have normal temperatures, and there are many milder cases. There are hidden carriers,” Ma said.

China has already closed off 17 cities and locked down tens of millions of people to prevent further transmission of the virus. Any attempt to limit the spread has likely failed.

Got your n95 masks?
While not prone to panic, i have a drywall project so having extra masks while you can still buy them seems appropriate. 90,000 cases is alot fast. Buy six while they are still two bucks each.

It’s all drying up. Get it while you can. Folks are engaging in retail arbitrage and shipping the stuff to China to sell. Folks are breaking down cases and selling individual masks for $5/ea. Crazy.

I don’t mean to be obnoxious; I posted this on the How China is Hiding… thread yesterday, but I’m re-posting it in an effort to share the info with folks who missed it. I’ve continued to monitor the situation closely and it just looks worse and worse every hour. And the masks are drying up fast.

BTW- go watch 2011’s Contagion. It is surprisingly similar to our current situation. The important part to note is at 17’50” in when the CDC doc explains the R0 ratio in a few minutes of exposition for you. It’s pretty good.

———//—————-
Been watching masks disappear on amazon. Ebay prices have shot up. I found some masks online, but it’s funny to see the prices explode from the roughly $20/case of 3M N95 masks to $60+ per case. Some guys are even selling individual disposable n95 and n100 masks for $5-$6 per mask!
The dudes in the video I linked below said folks are buying up our stocks online and shipping them to China to sell.
I also looked at mask prices at home depot last night. When hardware store respirators are going for 3x the standard $20 price per box, something odd is going on.

The Walgreens in my area still had procedure-type masks, but their prices were up to $14/10 Curad surgical masks, claiming they’re “bacteria-proof.” A box of 200 one-size gloves was $14.

If this is a real thing, a whoooole lot of people are about to find out there are no disposable gloves and masks available. If you’re late to the party now, I’m thinking you can still get non-sterile rubber gloves at harbor freight or other hardware store and maybe some dust-type masks. The surgical-quality stuff is going fast. I think N95-type dust masks might be better than the average tie-on surgical mask. Also, don’t forget some kind of eye protection. Some surgical masks have attached eye shields, otherwise safety glasses and splash-proof goggles on Amazon are still available. I saw some between $5-$12.

I am not an expert, but I’ve collected a variety of crap over the years ranging from full MOPP gear, like I was issued in the army, to dust masks and goggles. I think your primary goal here should be gloves, a reasonable medical-grade mask, and eye protection. Beyond that, you could aim for an oversuit (I think even a rain suit is better than nothing), over gloves (even kitchen-type yellow gloves can replace the surplus butyl rubber MOPP gloves you didn’t have time to get), head cover (plastic shower cap-type thing), etc, like you saw during the Ebola outbreak, but that’s pretty much overkill for your average person avoiding large crowds of people and avoiding obviously-sick people.

If you’re ready to spend a shit-load, get all brand new stuff from a reputable dealer, like approvedgasmasks.com.

If you’re really scared and you have some money to burn on this, check out Israeli civilian gas masks. Not the black rubber ones you see in every surplus store and gun show. These masks are special battery-powered Positive Air Pressure (PAPR) units. They’re not well known, but I think they are the best you can do on a budget, because they over-pressurize the hood, keeping potential nasty stuff out. The blower (powered by CR123 batteries, get spares) mounts the filter canister, blowing clean air through the filter and into your face. Also, try to secure current filters for it. It will most likely come with 10+ year old filters, which may work, or may not. I don’t know. Most filters are 40mm size, so nearly any replacement you see online should fit, but you should aim for the current filters. Expired ones are OK if they’re recent, but the older they get, the less you can rely on them. Some of them are also toxic after a certain point. Don’t even think of using those weird old Soviet surplus rubber masks. They’re ancient and who knows what’s in the filter? You should be able to find MSA brand filters good for this year, or next year, for about $25-$30 per filter.

Next, if you’re flush and you got your needs taken care of, consider securing some surgical masks for family and friends. It’s expensive to buy more boxes of masks, but if you’re just now figuring out this is an issue, imagine what your ignoranter friends and family are doing. I picked up some masks today partly to flush out my own preps and partly to get them started. If/when things start getting real, and your friends and family are getting panicky and maybe looking at you like you’re an asshole for being prepared, you can at least offer them some masks and gloves. I’ve got some I sealed with a food sealer in plastic, complete with mask and some gloves shrunk in a convenient package. I even made a couple packs up with oversuits. I figure at least being able to hand them a ziploc bag with some gloves and masks will be better than nothing. BTW-if you’re prepared, go armed, too, because a panicked asshole might decide your mask would look better on him or his kid.

I’m no expert, but I figure with this range of stuff, you have a serious set of options to pick from. Avoid everyone and plan to stay home as much as possible. If this gets bad enough, you won’t be going to work, anyway.

I cite a specific part for a reason. The scenario seems to have started about the same as the movie. The R0 explanation was pretty good for the uninformed. Otherwise, yeah, sure. It’s hollywood.

Yep…Liquid C, Colloidal Silver (cool mist humidifier to treat lungs directly), 10 different Essentials Oils and a diffuser, Oil of Oregano, Sambucus Immune Elderberry, orderless garlic, and all the standard vitamins, two dozen bottles of hand sanitizer (pocket size and home size) getting the ingredients for HSF’s concoction tomorrow.

I think I already told you about mesosilver? It’s the real deal. Get it at purestcolloids.com. Most, virtually all collodial silver isn’t collodial, it’s usually 90% ionic. Same with those colloidial generators- ionic. It has an indefinite shelf life ta boot.

ILuvCO2,

I believe a cool mist humidifier is more effective and more useful than a nebulizer…but it’s like the automatic Vs. revolver argument. (I have both in both categories).

If I only had one I’d go for a cool mist humidifier. Puts more into your lungs.

Go on Amazon and get the one(s) with the most stars you want to spend the $ for. They have a wide selection, or go to a local store and get one or both.

I always prep on the severe side, but this threat is time sensitive.

I have no idea which one of the ‘alarmists’ or the ‘enough doom porn already’ advocates are right or if this one is in the middle.

When you’re a 19 year old who can run through walls or at least leap over them in a single bound, then one day your too weak to sit up, gasping and choking for days with 104 fever…and you over hear people whispering about you not seeing 20…you prep for the Flu.

_If_ true, that there are 90,000 cases in China already, R-0 is almost certainly *much* higher than the WHO estimate – 14 sounds a bit high, I’d put it at about 9.8 (which is awful) to have that many infected at this point.

If the mortality rate in the first cohort remains a constant, at 15% . . . .

Accepting the 85% incidence rate, and 15% mortality rate, the US would see roughly 280 million infected, and 42 million deaths.

It probably isn’t actually going to be anywhere near this bad, but we’re going to find out first hand.

I watched that documentary about the one child policy in China that was only very recently put aside for the new “two child policy.”

They would leave their baby female infants at the meat market in baskets hoping someone would take them to raise OR could put the unwanted baby to good use.

And the women interviewed very solemnly and sadly said “It was the policy.”

A thousand years of submissiveness can give a country such a crick in the neck.

Me too.

Coronaviruses cause lots of conditions like pneumonia, respiratory infections, colds, and the flu. They are common viruses and many people who test positive for coronavirus have no symptoms at all.

Just like the fake SARS epidemic, I bet regular pneumonia and other generic respiratory illnesses are killing more people every day.

In truth, symptoms cannot be distinguished between pretty much all mild or severe respiratory disorders.

And if the viruses are constantly changing form then how can any medical researcher identify which one is causing any given “epidemic”. Because it took the medical community almost a decade to identify the AIDS virus.

Therefore, these propagandized epidemics are about control via quarantine and vaccinations. And healthy immune systems have a better chance at fighting off any virus than perhaps people do surviving the likely depopulating measures of quarantines and vaccinations.

Still, the global panic could grow exponentially right on schedule. If only because individual rights vanish during epidemics.

From MC’s NY Post article:

The media are correct in saying the closest comparison here is SARS. It also was first reported in China and was what’s called a coronavirus. But while they want you to remember SARS as akin to the Black Death with cries of “Bring out your dead!,” fact is, there was a grand total of only 8,098 cases, of whom 774 died. Then the disease simply disappeared. More than 7,000 of those cases and about 650 of the deaths occurred just in mainland China and Hong Kong. The United States had just 75 cases and zero deaths.

By contrast, the CDC estimates about 80,000 Americans died of flu two seasons ago.

SARS = Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome

Add those words up and they mean NOTHING. Other than pneumonia.

Just sayin’…

Viral pneumonia can be deadly….any pneumonia can be deadly….have you ever had pneumonia? You think pneumonia is a mild condition? Pneumonia can happen as a result of colds, influenza, any number of viruses and is contagious and can lead to lung scarring, diminished lung capacity, bronchiectasis and COPD in those who survive….just sayin’

It does mutate, but it isn’t unrecognizable from its original form, just like a red head is still recognizable as a human (No matter what the internet says about gingers!). We see the flu every year and study it closely. They can track the virus by its genetic characteristics and see the progression over time as the virus mutates in various ways. AIDS was something totally different. AIDS was a totally new bug to us. At first, it was so strange, the assumption was only homos caught it, so it was called Gay-Related Immunodeficiency Syndrome (GRIDS).
I’m not in China, but I’ve been watching some of the videos coming out of there and I don’t think you could fake this.

Can’t tie the typically mundane symptoms to specific mutations on the advertised timeline. It’s hype. A made for TV movie. The reason it so closely resembles films like Contagion, Outbreak, 12 Monkeys and 28 Days Later is because they were designed to preprogram people into embracing the deception. Social media has everyone in China running for the hospital – the LAST PLACE you want to end up if you are sick and hoping to get better. Just because someone has a cough or the sniffles doesn’t make them infected with this virus. Sounds like she could work for the statistics section of the CDC.
