The Last Gasp

No one is more dangerous than the suicidal.

Guest post by Robert Gore at Straight Line Logic

When you can’t love, you hate. When you can’t build, you destroy. When you’re ignored, you scream. When you can’t tell the truth, you lie. When you can’t reason, you panic. When no one will follow you out of admiration or respect, you compel. When you can’t live, you kill.

This is it, the last gasp of the psychopaths who express their contempt and hatred for humanity by trying to rule it. Compulsion, not voluntary and natural cooperation. Power, pull, and politics, not incentives, competition, honest production, and value-for-value trade. From each according to his virtue to each according to his depravity.

It can’t work. It won’t work. They know it. Do you?

As the totalitarian horror unfolds before our eyes, only the willfully blind will ignore it. Only those who refuse to think will fail to grasp its implications. Only the irretrievably corrupt will embrace it.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. We were warned.

Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness; only power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just round the corner there lay a paradise where humans beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?

George Orwell, 1984, 1949

The worship of power has reached its apex even as its temples have come crashing down. During the twentieth century, the most bloodthirsty governments in history inflicted unprecedented carnage, destruction, and death. Some of them now have the capability to destroy life on earth. It was clear to those who looked and thought about what they saw that the only outcome of destruction and death would be destruction and death, including the destruction and death of those who inflicted it. The temples started crashing in 1945 with the fall of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Tojo’s Japan and they’ve been crashing ever since. In 1991 it was the Soviet Union and its puppet regimes in Eastern Europe.

Now destruction and death loom before what’s called the Western democracies, built on the myth that societies can serve two masters: violence and freedom. The forces of the former will always see seek to destroy the latter. That is what has happened and is now accelerating towards either total annihilation or a rejection of hate and violence and a rebirth of freedom and the human spirit.

There is a residual innocence, a remnant of human decency, that asks: why would they want to destroy us, don’t they know they’ll be destroying themselves? If we owe to George Orwell our recognition that they want power solely for power’s sake, we owe to Ayn Rand the answer to that question and the recognition of a much more subtle point, one from which most people instinctively recoil.

He was suddenly seeing the motive that had directed all the actions of his life. It was not his incommunicable soul or his love for others or his social duty or any of the fraudulent sounds by which he had maintained his self-esteem: it was the lust to destroy whatever was living, for the sake of whatever was not. It was the urge to defy reality by the destruction of every living value, for the sake of proving to himself that he could exist in defiance of reality and would never have to be bound by any solid, immutable facts. A moment ago, he had been able to feel that he hated Galt above all men, that the hatred was proof of Galt’s evil, which he need define no further, that he wanted Galt to be destroyed for the sake of his own survival. Now he knew that he had wanted Galt’s destruction at the price of his own destruction to follow, he knew that he had never wanted to survive, he knew that it was Galt’s greatness he had wanted to torture and destroy—he was seeing it as greatness by his own admission, greatness by the only standard that existed, whether anyone chose to admit it or not: the greatness of a man who was master of reality in a manner no other had equaled. In the moment when he, James Taggart, had found himself facing the ultimatum: to accept reality or die, it was death his emotions had chosen, death rather than surrender to that realm of which Galt was so radiant a son. In the person of Galt—he knew—he had sought the destruction of all existence.

Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged, 1957

They want to rule you because they want to kill you because they want to kill existence and themselves. Hard as it may be to comprehend, don’t we know them by their works: by the slavery, carnage, and wars they’ve imposed, the freedoms they’ve robbed, the joy they’ve extinguished? Look at the world with eyes wide open. What do you see?

You see governments rushing to impose dictatorial restrictions on their citizens in the name of stopping a virus that as of March 23 had killed 17,156 people (Johns Hopkins University coronavirus website). In Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1941 State of the Union address, he proposed four freedoms that people “everywhere in the world” ought to enjoy: freedom of speech and worship, and freedom from want and fear. In a perfect world those first two freedoms would be enjoyed everywhere and by everyone. The second two describe a fantasy world in which some are to be slaves keeping the rest free from want and fear. Want and fear are “solid, immutable facts,” and the battles against them have propelled much of humanity’s progress. They cannot be banished by political wish or decree, Roosevelt’s “defiance of reality” notwithstanding.

With the possible exceptions of the governments of South Korea, Taiwan, Russia, and Singapore, there is not a developed-country government that has not been subject to justified criticism of its handling of the coronavirus. As is always the case, if at first you don’t succeed, ask for a bigger budget. Having already failed in so many ways, governments are demanding yet more power to fail in more and bigger ways, and to deprive their citizens of the few rights they have left. They will lock us in our homes, restrict our travel, destroy our livelihoods, induce panic that empties shelves, and make two-bit politicians and bureaucrats potentates whose decrees cannot be challenged and who can throw us in jail for any infringements. This is for our own good? If you answered yes, reread the Orwell and Rand passages.

According to Johns Hopkins University’s coronavirus website, as of March 22, there were 63,927 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Italy, the worst hit county, with a population of approximately 60.5 million. The confirmed cases amount to a little over one-tenth of one percent (.1%) of the population and daily new cases may have peaked. The deaths as of March 22 are 6,077, or a little over one one-hundredth of one percent (.01%). Multiply those numbers by five: confirmed cases—319,635; deaths—30,385; and the cases are still a little over half of one percent (.5%), the deaths a little over five one-hundredths of 1 percent (.05%). If you apply Italy’s actual rates to the US population of 328.2 million and multiply by five, you would have 1.733 million confirmed cases and 164,833 deaths.

Now 164,833 deaths is a lot, but put that number in perspective. Keep in mind that cases and death rates for Italy were multiplied five times and Italy has been the hardest hit nation. The total cases per million people in Italy is over eight times that in the US, although that US rate relative to Italy’s will go up as more cases are confirmed and Italy’s cases peak. In the US, over 600,000 will die of  heart disease and cancer will kill more than 350,000 this year (statistics from the CDC and National Cancer Institute). Those aren’t one-shot numbers, either, they happen every year. Yet, nobody’s talking about forcing anyone to do anything about those diseases, although many of the deaths reflect lifestyle choices that could be forcibly changed through compulsory exercise and dietary restrictions. People still have the freedom to die of heart disease and cancer.

Let’s put the numbers in terms of the elite’s favorite spectator sport: war. If someone had stood up after the first reading of the Declaration of Independence and said, “We can’t go to war against King George, it may cost us five one-hundredths of 1 percent of our population,” he would have been hung for treason. That, of course, was when a substantial portion of the population thought that the fight for freedom was worth waging. If someone had said at the onset of the Civil War, “We can’t preserve the union, end slavery, and subjugate the South, it will cost us five one-hundredths of 1 percent of the population,” Lincoln would have thrown him in jail. (The Civil War, America’s deadliest, killed at least 1.9 percent of the population, and Saint Abe threw lots of people in jail). A similar sentiment expressed as the US entered the Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, or any of the US’s other wars would have got the speaker at best ostracized, at worst imprisoned. The powers that be have always been willing to sacrifice other people’s lives and freedoms for their favorite cause and always will be. Damn the percentages, full speed ahead!

So now we’re supposed to believe that the powers are regretfully eliminating what’s left of our freedoms and destroying our economy to protect us from this scourge that might kill five one-hundredths of 1 percent of our population? The notion is idiotic on its face, and could only work on a docile, emasculated, and brain-dead populace who yearns for the sterile safety of a rubber room, straight jacket, and ball gag, removed three times a day when the nice nurse spoons them their gruel. They’ll be free of want and fear…and everything else.

The powers want absolute power, period. Their panic and police states are designed to instill and further the want and fear they say they deplore. Their stocks in trade are want and fear; they’d never eliminate them even if they could. All of the dictatorial restrictions are based on projections, not actual reality observed anywhere on the planet. They tried the projection trick with global warming, but they relented a bit when people started ignoring, or worse, mocking Greta Thunberg’s hysterical rants. First-year law students are told when they don’t have the facts, pound on the law, when they don’t have the law, pound on the facts, and when they don’t have either the facts or the law, pound on the table. Neither coronavirus or global warming have the facts or the law (yet, but they are getting there)—pound on the projections.

Want and fear kill people. Killing people has always been the power’s desire and is no longer secret. Like James Taggart, they particularly want to kill those masters of reality, the John Galts who actually reduce want and fear: the builders, the innovators, the doers, the bold, the farsighted, the scientists, the technologists, the entrepreneurs, the savers, the investors, and all of the other creators who have advanced the human race notwithstanding the powers, who have contributed nothing but the hindrances and obstacles.

Their “cure” for the coronavirus will be far deadlier than the disease. The quarantines and lockdowns will bring the world to a standstill—that’s the point. It was the point of the government’s Directive Number 10-289 in Atlas Shrugged, derisively named “The moratorium on brains” by the novel’s heroes. They want you to die, and yes that will lead to their own deaths and yes they know it, although like Taggart they can’t admit it to themselves. But now you know it, too, they’re all but telling you. That they can no longer hide it is a sign of their weakness, not strength.

Give into fear, panic, and cowardice and they will achieve their objective. You will deserve what you get. This is the last gasp of a malignancy—the philosophy of fear, fraud, and force—among humanity that’s metastasized for millennia. It is dying. Do nothing to prolong its life and do everything you can to resist its acolytes. Fight with everything you’ve got to prevent them from destroying the human race.

Patrick Henry said, “Give me liberty or give me death.” Liberty is that precious.

Give me liberty and I’ll lick the doorknobs of the coronavirus ward and kiss everyone in it.

Speaking of “playing God” I’m reminded of 2 things from a week ago. First is this BB article which was featured here at TBP:

STOCKHOLM—Greta Thunberg has come out to condemn the coronavirus outbreak, saying the virus callously ended the world ten years before climate change even had the chance to.

As Thunberg is known for her fiery speeches and doomsday predictions about climate change, she began to worry that the spread of this virus would take the spotlight off her and her brave efforts and instead cause the world to worry about an actual, immediate crisis.

“How dare you cause the apocalypse a decade before it was supposed to happen!” she shouted at a press conference. “I was not consulted on this. I should be in school right now, but I’m not, because the whole world is under lockdown many years before I predicted the end would come.”

“I still exist, remember!?” …

Second thing is this Bang-On ~15 minutes from CR related to above:

My impression is that the Lefties are more comfortable than ever because we are bound together in narrative more than ever. The economic cost will be delayed and for them unconnected. They are far from angry at the system. They still believe, more than ever, IMO.

Respect for nature and not shitting where you eat are wise. Placing nature above humanity evidences a coddled detachment from nature. A luxury owed to humanitiy’s rule over nature.

This is NOT true: “They want to rule you because they want to kill you because they want to kill existence and themselves.”

They are animals. They want to have animal success. Animal success has the byproduct of animal living standards. Living like animals in not unthinkable to them. Maybe we should be part-time psychopaths ourselves?

This is NOT true: “This is the last gasp of a malignancy—the philosophy of fear, fraud, and force—among humanity that’s metastasized for millennia. It is dying.”

The death of life on earth as you know and need it is not the death of humanity. Animals of some sort will do just fine. Through your love in Christ you have made that a reality.

Women are difficult to impress. They grade on the world’s harshest curve. One donor gets the oven. Great men can impress women easily. Sure, in high school if, but that’s the point still. What young men know enough to be the few alphas and are able to back it up physically and mentally. My parents were psychologically abusive. I had no chance. I believed the Christian crap about saving it for marriage. Big mistake. I was not an amateur historian and psychologist at the time. I have become such out of necessity. It is downright dangerous to even be with a woman. Gloria Alred laughs to the bank for hurting people. Bill Cosby and who knows who else rots in jail. If you are near the top, it’s easy to impress them. They know what they like better than most men know. It ain’t easy, and it’s better to be lucky than good.

Funny. I will not concede it except with women of high fertility. I don’t think the consummate animals can be trained. I know they can’t be trusted. I know I could trust their liberated fertilizer content though, and the fixed overhead would be very affordable. I don’t know what sights you will need to see to accept my premise in full, and I don’t want to seez no moar. I think most Christians will never see the elephant in the room no matter what they see. That is the crux of this decline.

But I think those who are unaware are unaware of being trained not to see the elephant [ the elephant being of course the trainer of the animals ” in charge ” ]. The adversary even has advocates among us who undertake his defense with misdirection and ignorant assumptions.

As a Christian I have seen many elephants in many rooms and when it is pointed out many hide behind a verse or two from the Bible. A true Christian will stand up for what is morally right and fight evil, not a metaphorical fight but a stand and deliver fight. I don’t think Christ would be impressed with the current crop in America today. There are some who will stand up and criticize from the pulpit but most want the $$$$.

I get it too Robert. Great work. Interestingly I wrote notes to my Governor, Senators, and Congressman yesterday. Here’s the text. Sounds like we’ve been thinking similar thoughts about the coronavirus…

Gov. Abbott, As a citizen of the State of Texas and a Twenty-Five-Year Army Veteran, I am extremely concerned about the over reach of Government’s in reaction to the Corona-virus. I’m a resident of Cameron County. Just yesterday the county judge issued a “shelter in place” order for the entire county through April 8th, 2020. I realize that this is also being done for entire liberal states like New York, Illinois, and California. I never expected to see anything like this in the State of Texas where we value freedom above all else.

There have been approximately 200 Corona-virus deaths in the past three months nation-wide. We know that the flu kills an average of 50,000 people EVERY year in the United States (2015 stats). We have NEVER shut the country down because of the seasonal flu. So why are we doing so for the Corona-virus??? The “cure” from these “shelter in place” quarantines is going to be MUCH worse than the disease itself. Millions are going to be out of work. Small businesses will not recover despite the “bailout package” Washington is putting together that will offer small business LOANS. Loans cannot replace lost revenue no matter how you slice it.

So what is the REAL reason for the shut downs? Someone needs to explain it to us because none of this adds up. Most of the 9,000 world-wide deaths, while tragic, are elderly with pre-existing conditions. In 2018 there were 2.9 million deaths in the United States due to various causes. We didn’t stop living because of any of them. I don’t understand why we’re stopping living because of a couple hundred Corona-virus deaths. Respectfully.

Chip

“From each according to his virtue to each according to his depravity.”
Great quote! Saved for future use.

But there is also a lot I disagree with:
– what about the US’ puppet regimes in Western Europe?
– I believe Nietzsche in ‘Will To Power’ and many others were decades (if not centuries) before Orwell
– Ayn Rand actually describes “Envy”, a little too wordy
– Can we stay a little in reality instead of drifting off to La-La land? The possibility of “governments rushing to impose dictatorial restrictions on their citizens [permanently]” is a different animal than true unlimited [in time] action.
Mixing both up doesn’t help the fight for freedom, it encumbers it – just like people calling ‘Putin is Hitler’, or ‘[Trump is] the worst president ever’ a few weeks after he got elected and wasn’t even in office yet (hello Kuntsler!)

What we would need is a clear hard limit set at a reasonable level:
Something like
“If lock-downs etc. are put in place, they have to entirely end 6 weeks after peak, or at the latest after 6 months.”

We’ve had an abundance of very bad decisions/policies for the last 20 years, so
a) I don’t see this possible action sticking out really (if it became permanent reality, that’s a different animal), plus
b) almost nobody has given a shit about those recent developments, so realism tells me you won’t be able to start a resistance now either, even if trying your best to stir things (mentally) up.

So I believe we don’t need lines nor stirring, but (once again) a reasoned explanation what might be admissible in force majeure times, and what not. Lumping everything together is not helpful, and is actually dumbing things down [further.]
As usual, it is then up to the sheeple if they heed the warnings or not, i.e. it shows if the have a strong moral/ethics, or such is still lacking.

I think the author is pointing out some very astute observations, and asking the reader to fill in the blanks.

Everyone seems to be focusing on the pandemic, and the response of .gov to the crisis, and that is great. It is actually a great diversion, to keep us from focusing on the underlying reality.

Sure, there is something going around making people sick, but that is not why the world is falling down.

The issue at hand is that there has been some sort of financial catastrophe, again, most likely a global credit freeze, caused by the oil war that nobody is talking about. When the price of oil (which is what our dollar is based on) falls, then if we lived in a normal reality, this would be good news, but we don’t live in that reality, we live in one where central banks and huge commercial banks gamble with other peoples money, and when the bets go bad, someone has to mop up the mess. There are multi-trillion dollar bets on oil being far above the current price, and they have all gone belly up (the derivatives market)

This time, the mess is multiplied by the fact that the previous mess (2008) was never resolved, and this time, there is no amount of printing that will bring confidence back to the markets. We either get hyper inflation or we get a depression or we get both.

China, will ultimately be the winner after this mess has unwound. China has engineers who make 10-30 year plans for how there society will grow. The west has unscrupulous, unaccountable bankers and managers who add nothing, only figure out how to kick the can a few more quarters, before they can retire from the mess they created. This is our reality.

If there was some way to remove the cancer of short term profits, and return to a long term investment of capital, the west might be able to compete with China, but, if the west continues with business as usual, and leaves all the idiots who make these messes in charge, we are doomed to become just like Venezuela, or other 3rd world countries, that make nothing but expect to live like kings.

Financial engineering has gotten us to this point, and now it should be obvious that it is no longer useful, it produces nothing, it outsources knowledge, skill, and manufacturing, and destroys the host country.
it is cancer and must be excised.

So you’re basically in the same boat as Mish on ZH point #7 , with that opinion.

I can only wonder what you guys have been smoking.
First of all no matter what happens, China still has the [shut-down] production facilities, and we have close to nothing. This could become a starting point for us, were we start to steer our economy “VLCC” slowly in a different direction, but even in the best case the turn (i.e. rebuilding) will take much time and effort. Like years of.
Second China at this moment seems to have passed the eye of the needle already (at least for their first infection wave), while we are still up for it. You don’t think “he who panics first, panics best” also works similarly on the other end of such an event?
Third, if they are really long-term thinkers the Chinese will send plane-loads of masks and ventilators to many other countries which are not entirely in the tight grasp of US bullying tactics. The return on those will be more than their weight [of those supplies] in gold.

Satan was an archangel of God, right? So God selected Lucifer to be the lead antagonist so you could enjoy the drama and secure your soul to Heaven. This archangel has agreed to suffer in hell for eternity to do God’s theatrical will. I’m sure God has his reasons for creating beings that are destined to suffer inhumanly at His will forever. Louboutins reporting on the ground from NYC.

Since I live very close to the heart of the Medical Insanity Cabal in NYC, I continued my recon exploring the action at some of the nearby hospitals. I sauntered past Lenox Hill, New York Presbyterian/Columbia University, Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill Cornel Medical Center. Other than parked ambulances with bored EMT’s sitting inside looking for something to do, there was No hubbub of any kind.. I haven’t even heard anyone cough.

Before I hit Lenox Hill emergency to surveil, I stopped at the bank to check out that situation. I am probably one of a very few people in the USA who has a physical pass book account. The bank officers were there and in nice suits and my cash deposit was accepted, although placed in nice plastic wrapper in case of contagion.

Next on the hit parade, was a walk past our local Fox Affiliate, WNWY. Two newsgathering vans were parked outside the facility. They were unmanned and unattended. Not a reporter or camera crew within sight.

While pounding the pavement, I did notice one vagabond and two guys collecting discarded plastic bottles. Normally, you would see a multitude of such folk within a few city blocks. But this is more than I’ve seen within the past week, so the jig may be up. Also, there seem to be less pigeons. They have nothing to eat and no one feeding them. Instead of Contagion, this situation may turn into a Hitchcock flick, although all the phone booths have been removed years ago.

Construction is still pretty much full throttle. Construction and Con Ed workers, food delivery guys, UPS, FedEx and USPS workers are miraculously immune to the Covid-19. (They should all be rounded up and taken to Rockefeller University for dissection and analysis.) Spectrum Cable Vans are everywhere and appear more pervasive than yellow cabs. (I guess the message can’t be spread and reinforced if your cable goes down)

There has been a slight increase in emergency sirens, from none to a few. But that could be guys heading to lunch.

Editorial Alert!
This event should be a lesson to everyone. Before you listen, it might be wise to first look around and assess things within your purview. Who are we to believe anymore and why? This entire affair has been totally disheartening. The consequential damage, irreparable.

The only upside has been, if this is New York City under quarantine and before fully imposed martial law and military deployment, it’s been nicer, cleaner, less frenetic and so far everyday has felt like a beautiful Sunday morning.

PS. As far as I know, NYS tax filing has not been postponed. The State has its priorities.

Awesome article and just in time. I was walking around this morning thinking the world has gone completely insane. I still think that except the “completely” part.

I’m seeing a Spirit of Fear and a Spirit of Pestilence run rampant even in places I never thought I would see it. I know I will get downvotes for this. You can stick them up your…part where you used to have toilet paper to wipe with. Those Spirits are real and powerful and the dark side is offering up sacrifices to them, including our freedom to assemble.

The Spanish Flu never included medical martial law. This does not mean I believe there is no virus that is killing people. It seems to attack some people so fast they end up critical before they know what hit them and it looks like it seems to happen to a certain population all at once.

My daughter said they didn’t have any new admits yesterday but they are still waiting on test results for 5 of them. Keep in mind they went into the hospital last Thursday. WTF is taking so long? How are others getting results in 24 hours or less? The nursing homes have informed the hospital(s) that they will not take residents back from the hospital. This calls for another WTF? As in WTF are they supposed to do with those people who come back negative or recover? I told my daughter the hospital will have to refuse to take any more sick residents. Cluster F*** is all that comes to mind.

BTW, when the Trump says that it might be time to ease up on the restrictions, 1: I don’t think he is really in charge anymore and 2: He almost always does the opposite of what he says he is going to do, unless it involves Israel.

Good post.

I bought a small case of liquid Liposomal Vitamin C a month ago. Every day everyone in the house eats at least two Brazil Nuts for Selenium, and I make a drink we all have after dinner:

1. Water
2. Liquid Liposomal C
3. Liquid D3
4. Mint flavored Cod Liver Oil
5. Lugol’s Iodine
6. Licorice Extract

Bags of various Zinc lozenges are all over the house.

I posted this on another thread a couple of weeks ago, worth the time.

That’s a stupid reply. It’s cute but far removed from reality. It’s the GenXers and Millennials who grew up with a stock market that never went anywhere but up. They were the people who grew up with hover-parents and daycare. With participation trophies and fawning concern for their self-esteem.

Boomers grew up on the street with broken bones, scrapes and blue-balls. GenXers grew up with pre-HS sex. They were never drafted, put in reform school, kicked out of the house, spanked or beaten, etc.

‘OK, Boomer’ sounds cute on the surface but if you looked closely, it assumes too much. It’s just a stupid attempt at putting down somebody for privileges they never really had. If you have any brains, you won’t use that put down again.

What we are witnessing is the nationalization of the capital markets. You are witnessing the birth of a new world order. The Fed has been buying up everything and has been advancing U.S. dollars to other central banks to do likewise. We are talking trillions of dollars each and every day. It is happening right in front of your eyes, yet we are being distracted by the health issue. That’s all this is about. Global control. And if hundreds of thousands of people happen to die (or more)? Well that’s just icing on the cake as far as the elites are concerned. Check out Greg Mannarino on youtube. He has it pretty well figured out. Evidenced backed as well.

Behind this noble effort, however, is a plan to enforce an unnecessary lockdown and confront with deadly force rioters, looters, as well as folks outraged over the systematic dismantling of civilization, many whom see this viral outbreak (natural or manmade) for what it is—a cover for an economic reset and the establishment of an elitist-driven totalitarian global authority.

The state has long planned for this scenario. It realizes the asset bubble and Ponzi scheme economy cannot be sustained and the crash will be catastrophic. The plan is to blame COVID-19 for the crash. This will not only allow the real culprits—central banks, the Federal Reserve, investment firms, and other scam artists and economic criminals—off the hook but flood them with trillions of bailout dollars.

Trump’s impending bailout of the airline industry, for instance, does not take into consideration the industry squandering billions on stock buybacks instead of protecting themselves from predictable economic headwinds.

The plan to exploit what appears to be an average virus in order to re-engineer economies and impose a global totalitarian super-state will usher in a New Dark Age of subservience and privation. The ruling elite considers us little more than serfs and useless eaters, especially the elderly and the underclass. http://www.renegadetribune.com/covid-19-welcome-to-the-new-dark-ages/

Two things can be true at once:

1) Governments and corporations and central banks are using this as an excuse to do what they’ve always wanted to, and were doing (and had already mostly succeeded), they just get to hit the gas pedal harder. You were already under mass surveillance, over-reaching police state policies, socialized systems, fiat frauds, etc.

2) If we had just kept marching on like normal all of Robert’s numbers would be very different. You can’t use the numbers currently reported while ignoring that hotspots and non-hotspots have reacted very strongly to cut the numbers down. We see what happens in a hotspot before it has a chance to react. You are tossing around the current counts but turning a blind eye to part of the reason those numbers are what they are. This is EXCEPTIONALLY disingenuous.

Llpoh
Llpoh
March 24, 2020 10:20 pm

Robert – One issue is that no one knows exactly how many people have really caught this virus. Is it ten times the reported number? One hundred times? What we do know is that this virus does kill a substantial number of old and sickly types. One of the big reasons so many have died in Italy is that it took hold in hospitals where old and sickly folks tend to be. And it killed a lot of them, and the deaths would have been most unpleasant.

I have zero trust of the government – any government. But that said, I do not wish to see thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of elderly die suddenly and horribly. The governments should not be be mandating the shutdowns – people should be demanding it of their fellow citizens, in my opinion. Communities should be banding together and protecting themselves. But it is hard for communities of millions to band together, is it not? And therein lies the fucking rub.

It was a massive mistake for humans to begin living tight together in sprawling metropolises, and the repercussions are now being seen. Is it a surprise that the disease is hitting NYC? Hardly.

There are too many people. Too many people. And the majority of them are incapable of taking care of themselves, and/or did not set aside resources for their dotage.

More than half of people in the US receive some form of welfare. What does that mean? It fucking means that over half the people in the US cannot take care of their own basic needs. That is fucked up and bullshit. It is of course the same in Oz.

Over half the populations of the developed world cannot take care of their own basic needs. The underdeveloped nations in their entirety cannot take care of themselves and largely rely on handouts.

It is fucked up beyond any and all reason.

And so, we now have a situation in Oz, and the US, where the majority -parasites that they are who rely on govt handouts for their very existence – will not only gladly accept whatever the governments shove down their throats, but they will encourage, even demand, the shit sandwich be force fed to the entire population so that they can continue to suck blood from the productive. And of course the large corporate parasites will suck out their plasma by the hundreds of billions of dollars, as they always do. (Fuck Boeing, by the way. Criminal, greedy, evil motherfuckers).

Perhaps this may trigger a revolt of the hosts, but more likely it will result in a crackdown upon them, where more is demanded from them by force, so that the bloated leaches can continue to suck.

Fuck fuck fuckity fuck. Really pisses me off. It has gotta be five o’clock somewhere.

What really has made the Kung Flu big freeze so unique is the Alternative Internet’s acceptance of its premises and treatments; or at least a sizable percentage of the Alternative blogosphere/media, that is.

Perhaps because of its readiness to acknowledge the inevitablilty of prophesied plagues, societal Fourth Turnings, and/or secret bioweapon programs. Or maybe because COVID-19 actually is a plague of Biblical proportions, a catalyst of Strauss & Howe’s “Winter”, and the common cold souped-up with a dash of AIDS.

I believe it was VP Pence who said today the infection rate in NYC is 1 in 1,000? Maybe I heard that wrong on C-SPAN. Or maybe Pence lied. Or perhaps the curve has really been flattened. Who really knows?

To me it looks like most people took their stance on Globull Warming and directly applied it to Corona. Which puts them either in the “it’s a hoax/just the flu” or in the “we must throw anything and everything at it, or we’re all gonna die” camp.

But even a third grader can easily see there are several magnitudes difference in the speed of the problem, for starters.

Would it be a problem if they did NOT tell you it was a problem?

In other words, why do you believe what you believe?

Because the speed of the problem has moved in direct proportion to the number of tests performed and what has been reported.

Think about that.

I responded to one of Robert’s comments in the thread above with this same message but wanted to get it out to the rest of TBP’rs. Everyone of us should be filling politician’s inboxes about this power grab and BS response to the CV. Here’s what I sent to my Governor, Senators, and Congressman… Chip

Worth a try I suppose. Our Rethuglican governor is an idiot. He, along with at least 17 other Rethuglican Governors, offered to take in more “refugees” than the Fed.gov was asking them to take, because…money. Then when people tried to hold his feet to the fire he basically told them to pound sand. We are probably stuck with him, now. I’m still predicting no election in the fall.

What do you think is going to happen to the flu numbers during these lockdowns?

Oh, they are going to go down. Drastically. You can’t compare the flu numbers during a normal season with the Corona Chan numbers during a global lockdown reaction.

It is fine to disagree with the government’s drastic reaction, just tell them that you would RATHER have drastically higher Corona Chan infections and for your communities to deal with THAT fallout instead.

Any other stance is exhibiting an exceptionally flawed interpretation of the numbers and the rates and everyone up the chain is going to ignore your letter because it demonstrates you don’t really get the problem.

One thing I’ve learned from this sudden world grabbing moment is how terrible most people are with evaluating trends and proportions and taking into account context. Most have never asked themselves “what will happen to the flu numbers during this time?”

I hadn’t and the effect it has on comparing the trends is huge.
