Is America Preparing For Civil War?

Via ZeroHedge

“The jump has no precedent in recorded history…” is how one analyst described the stunning surge in estimated firearm sales indicated by data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System latest report.

While actual gun purchases aren’t tracked in the U.S., the FBI system is largely considered a proxy for sales by the firearms industry and the table shows a 41% surge year-over-year (and a 33% spike month-over-month).

Jurgen Brauer, chief economist at Small Arms Analytics, told Bloomberg News, that handgun sales increased 91.1% year-over-year, per Brauer’s analysis, and long-gun sales were up 73.6%.

“We expect continued positive headline growth numbers in coming months as Covid-19 uncertainty lingers,” Brett Andress, a firearms industry analyst at KeyBank Capital, wrote in a note on Wednesday afternoon, according to Bloomberg.

What does that look like?

The last time demand for protection even came close to this was the last three months of 2015 as a spate of mass shootings in the US put tougher gun controls back in the national spotlight.

The motivation for this sudden surge is evidently a concern that the current (and expanding) lockdown being enforced across The Land of The Free is rapidly transformed into a far more tyrannical control over Americans’ constitutional rights.

“The government is trying to do everything it can to keep society intact. But if society is unraveling, it’s up to us to protect ourselves,” said Andrew Dominguez, 36, a real estate agent in Pacifica who waited near the end of the slow-moving line to buy ammo for his shotgun.

John Chen, 40, agreed. He lives in Oakland but has construction outlets around the Bay Area, including in Pacifica. He was at City Arms to buy his first pistol for personal defense.

“This virus gave me the motivation,” Chen said.

“I’ve always wanted to have a gun, but I’ve been lazy. I see the news now, and the outbreak and the chaos.”

Jackson Lu, 24, came bounding out of the gun store, carrying a new $500 Glock 19 in its black plastic case. He wasn’t about to open it to show it off, though.

“I feel like there’s a lot of crazy stuff happening around the world,” he said. “I want to feel safe.”

Don’t think it could happen?

As a reminder, just last week, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva attempted to shutdown all gun stores (on the basis of safety concerns).

However, facing a lawsuit over his controversial decision, he has now changed his mind, citing a federal ruling that gun stores are considered “essential.”

The post-COVID-19 future is looking grim: economic collapse, censorship, production control, soaring surveillance, and increasingly martial law. So which dystopian future are we headed for?

It’s not like we weren’t warned humanity was heading south, however, and there’s a lot more doomsaying to explore beyond Orwell and Huxley…and, as Helen Boyniski notes, our curious historical moment owes just as much to some lesser-known nightmare futures, and since we’re all stuck indoors under coronavirus quarantine, we might as well get familiar with the ins and outs of some of these lesser-known dystopias.

At the very least, it will prepare us for what might be in store post-pandemic.

As we detailed earlier, it’s only matter of time before this lockdown of American – leaving citizens jobless, broke, and without options – become the flashpoint that leads to an explosion of civil unrest and violent crime.

I’m sure ammo will at some time be a choke point. With a digital currency on the horizon, I’d recommend a lifetimes supply before such an event.
If purchasing a firearm don’t get some esoteric caliber/round. KISS.

I’m a ‘rookie’ when it comes to guns, but I’m leaning towards standardizing on a minimum variety of calibers to provide flexibility and to manage one’s ammo inventory. For example, I have a 22 pistol and AR 15-22, both use the same ammo. I’m thinking a shot gun plus two pistol / rifle calibers for a total of 3. I look forward to constructive different opinions.
I do know this, ammo like any product inventory, avoid LIFO – Last in First out. Manage and use inventory based on age.

Crawfish.
More bullets is more important than more guns if it is a budget question. Like others have already said, keep it basic. What are the most likely rounds that will be in demand after a month. In the US 5.56 nato, 9mm lugar, M-14, Ak47, 12Ga., .45acp, and the most underrated and versatile in the universe the good ole .22LR. The reason I list these in particular is because I know first hand that in real dangerous times bullets and food are all that will matter. If you have one gun and big balls, you can get more guns but the ammo is not so easy to capture and get back home with.

Silver or food in trade for someone else’s extra ammo. NEVER trade your own guns or ammo with someone you don’t know or trust because they can be used against you.

Store ammo in a cool dry place. It will stay good for a hundred years. I have .30 Carbine ammo from 1942 that goes bang every time without fail.
The pistol caliber carbines like the Ruger PC Carbine which I would get in 9mm can share magazines with a Glock or two other Ruger pistols. .357 mag revolver and a Winchester 92 or Marlin 94 lever gun in .357 are another more traditional combo. A .357 will fire .357, .38 Special, .38 Long, .38 S&W, and some like the Korth (BIG bucks) can take .380 and various 9mm as well.
If I could only have one gun for all eternity I guess I would take an S&W 617 or Ruger GP100 in .22LR, both are ten shot revolvers. Hard to beat Mossberg for shotguns.

Craw, would if able try a few firearms friends have/perhaps a rental place,as the gun that feels good to you is the one you want. You can get a upper for the AR in 5.56 or .300 if you want a it with a good hunting round,.300 pretty much now widely available.

The most common rounds are the 5.56/9mm as donkey mentions, might be good if you need to reload off the ground things get very spicy.A simple Mossberg pump shotgun like the 500 a good/inexpensive choice and can be bought with 2 barrels, one 18″ and one 26″ for hunting bird ect,a simple to maintain tough/inexpensive platform, happy shopping!

223, 12, and 9 are three of the best simply because they’re the most common you’ll find in the US. 44, 45, and 357 good, too, if you can get it.
5.56NATO an excellent round but not quite compatible with some .223 Remington rifles, so make sure you know the differences.

I refer to these people as the Bolsheviks of the Democratic Communist Party. Every time I read something absolutely bat-shit crazy by some “journalist”, politician, or Ivy League professor, their surname always gives them away. Here’s an example of a list of them. Anytime the writer has one of these names, I can safely assume that they are mostly anti-Constitution, and it’s too bad they all don’t move to that country that America built for them.

JPFO is to be commended for promoting firearms ownership and use as a “civil-right”.

The problem with JPFO is that there are not enough jews who “think outside the box” to have a real effect.

As for the so-called “holocaust™”, that is one of the greatest frauds perpetrated on the world.

Yes, people died during WW2, but there was no planned effort at extermination of a particular ethnicity. Allied destruction of infrastructure and lack of sanitation were primary causes of death among camp residents.

The requirement that jews wear the “star of david” was a proposal that was submitted to the German government by zionist interests. You see, zionist leaders wanted to make life difficult for German jews in order to “encourage” emigration to what was then known as Palestine.

In fact, many jews served in the German military during the war.

Many jews lived out the war in Germany cities without incident. The jews that were “picked up” and sent to work camps were bolshevik communist troublemakers, not normal law-abiding jews…the camps were “labor camps”, needed for the war effort–not “death camps”.

Think about this…
Anne Frank perished in a “camp” from typhus while her father was hospitalized in a camp and survived the war. Now if this camp was a “death camp” why would a hospital be necessary? Why would Otto Frank be treated for illness?
The Frank family and their associates were sent to the camps for smuggling and running a black market operation–criminal activities.
As to Anne Frank’s “diary”, much of it was written with a ball-point pen, not invented until the early 1950s. Otto Frank even scammed the publisher of the “diary” out of shekels as well.

I urge all free-thinking individuals to investigate the jewish “holocaust™ ” for themselves. You will not like what you find.

World jewry declared war on Germany in 1933, yes, 1933. Look it up. In addition a vile book named “Germany Must Perish” by jew author Theodore N. Kaufman made the rounds of polite (jewish and others) society which advocated the total genocide of the German people by slavery and forced sterilization, and the total destruction of its architecture and scientific accomplishments–the total destruction of a proud culture. This book was quite popular in the USA as well.
In times of war, when your enemy is so blatant in its aims, all bets are off. I have no sympathy for the children caught up in this situation. They were part of the “problem”. It might interest you that the camps were set up as part of the war effort. The children were well taken care of.

Here is an excerpt from the book Germany Must Perish by Theodore N Kaufman which advocates the total genocide of Germany:

Germany has lost its war. She sues for peace. The imperative demands of the victor people that Germany must perish forever makes it obligatory for the leaders to select mass sterilization of the Germans as the best means of wiping them out permanently. They proceed to:

1. Immediately and completely disarm the German army and have all armaments removed from German territory.

2. Place all German utility and heavy industrial plants under heavy guard, and replace German workers by those of Allied nationality.

3. Segregate the German army into groups, concentrate them in severely restricted areas, and summarily sterilize them.

4. Organize the civilian population, both male and female, within territorial sectors, and effect their sterilization.

5. Divide the German army (after its sterilization has been completed) into labor battalions, and allocate their services toward the rebuilding of those cities which they ruined.

6. Partition Germany and apportion its lands. The accompanying map gives some idea of possible land adjustments which might be made in connection with Germany’s extinction.

7. Restrict all German civilian travel beyond established borders until all sterilization has been completed.

8. Compel the German population of the apportioned territories to learn the language of its area, and within one year to cease the publication of all books, newspapers and notices in the German language, as well as to restrict German-language broadcasts and discontinue the maintenance of German-language schools.

9. Make one exception to an otherwise severely strict enforcement of total sterilization, by exempting from such treatment only those Germans whose relatives, being citizens of various victor nations, assume financial responsibility for their emigration and maintenance and moral responsibility for their actions.

Thus, into an oblivion which she would have visited upon the world, exits Germany.

Now if you were a German of the day, what would you think about your “enemy”?

Under the leadership of its founder Aaron Zelman and as regards strict interpretation of the Second Amendment, JPFO was a small, somwhat respectable organization that had, to its credit, more in common philosophically with the aggressive Gun Owners of America than with the always-willing-to-compromise NRA.

However, after Zelman passed away in 2010 and now under the presidency of Alan Gottleib, JPFO has devolved into an even smaller, irrelevant, Natzee vilifying, politically correct, pro-civil rights entity.

back around ’99/2000 jpfo had a program that would pay most of the cost of a pro 2a billboard if local guys would raise a portion of the cost & handle the admin end of it–
at the time we had an active 2a group here in tampa & we participated in the program– we had a full size sign on a major artery here for a month or so–it was effective & all of us were grateful to jpfo–
another thing of note–
commercial speech is just as important as personal & political speech b/c they are intertwined and the entire constitution is tied together, speech, guns, property rights, all of it–
we initially were going to go w/a bunch of the smaller billboards to get more exposure, the ones that are roughly 5×8 or 6×10,not sure of the exact size but none of the sign companies that handle smaller signs would deal w/us–i was flat out told by a rep that they have trouble getting sites approved & w/anti gun city council members the company would not sell space to us–

The NICS numbers have been steadily going up for a while. The viral panic caused a spike of first-time buyers and I’m betting there might be a lot of cheap firearms and unused ammo going up for sale or trade later – if things quiet down. Most independent thinkers already had defense plan long before the sheeple got spooked, but it seems reality is sinking into FUDDs who never even thought of owning a gun before.
Better late than never.
Agree with the .223, 9, and 12 numbers as they’re common and cover distance, concealment, and firepower with wide availability. If going .223 /5.56 in a carbine, look for 1:8 rifling twist so the heavier bullets in 62/69 grains will be a bit more accurate up to around 500m with an optic. 9mm “anything” is always OK, but remember the hardball always penetrates more than JHP or HP rounds. If available, get a threaded barrel and silencer – it’s a “gray man special”. Heck, even a .22 will work in a pinch if you’re good with it.
Any reliable 12ga shotgun is OK, and with good shells and slugs you can reach out to 100m, easy.
My want, but don’t have …. a Mossberg 590/930 with an extended tube. If 8 shells is good, 2-3 more is better.

I have a 930 9+1 but there is a new 940 also designed by Jerry Miculek. For the .223/5.56 one may want the Wylde chamber. This is a compromise which takes into account the slight differences and allows use of either. The 5.56 chamber allows use of either while the .223 is for .223. The barrel should be marked. 1/7 twist was actually to stabilize the 64 grain M856 tracer. 1/7 works well with the 80-90 grain used for long range, like 1,200 yard target shooting. 1/8 is better for the 62-77 grainers. 1/9 has become very common and works best with the M193 or other 55 grain most shoot most of the time but is OK with 62’s as well. The original twist was 1/12 with some 1/14. 1/12 is the Vietnam era twist which resulted in the explosive wounds caused by tumbling upon impact and key holing beyond 250 yards.

When Trump deems gun shops and manufacturers/distribution as essential services then something is up beyond a virus. He is expecting violent push back against him for some reason from the “left” (I use that term loosely). And he knows who his friends are – so buy while the buying is good. Just in case. Just as an aside some of the provinces have done the same thing here (under the reason that gun shops are an essential part of the food chain).

Just for shits & giggles last night I perused my top 5 favorite reloading, ammunition supply sites. Things are getting real bleak in the reloading & ammo department. Powder & primers have about disappeared from what they were just a month ago. Bullets (projectiles) & brass are even showing no stock in many cases. Loaded ammunition in common calibers (380, 9mm, 45ACP, 223, 22LR, even 308) is either gone or only the real $$$$ stuff is left. The oddball stuff is still available but also dwindling. It’s like Obama just got elected. Glad I got that 1930s vintage Italian service rifle, cheap 22 scope, & magic bullets from cousin Oswald before he passed.

Flea, I think it had to do with their looooong length vs diameter & that gain twist the Eye-talians used in those 6.5mm Carcanos. More like a drill going thru a pumpkin, than a pencil.

I recently added to my ammo stocks (about 6 months ago). I have .380 ACP for concealed carry, .40 caliber Ruger for home defense, 38 special for wife’s home defense, 12 ga and 20 ga for defense and a Ruger 10/22 for varmints and defense. I stocked up 7,000 rounds of .22 LR and about 3,000 rounds of .40, 38 special and .380. I don’t have a lot of shotgun ammo, but I’ll add that once things quiet down. For now, I can defend my family for a long time.

No and yes. Most people realize that when a crackhead kicks the door in, the cops are minutes away. I think that’s as sinister as it gets, for most people. The other side is . . . “it” won’t start as a CW but will probably turn into one.

When the food runs short, the enemy will be the current parasite class that infest the inner city. When they decide that “its time” to pull off what they are planning, the enemy will be the parasitic class that infests the halls of government. The term “civil war” implies that both sides with to seize the reins of power. This one will more likely be between those that have the power and those that simply wish to remain “free.”

“kinda like 159 years ago this month?”

not at all. the southern boys were fighting not for free and independent individuals, but for free and independent states – societies of citizens sharing a common culture. they would have thought the modern rightist views of “me” to be unnatural and deranged. today few on the right are interested in the notion of free and independent states of any description, rather they want free and independent “me”.

Great, now the conversation has been detoured from anti-government/WallStreet to civil war. Yes, starve the masses and they will kill each other in a hail of bullets. The remaining survivors will be disarmed and indentured for the good of the country. After that, the essentials will come out of the mountain bunker and commence a glorious rule of 1000 years.

I have a buddy who’s wife’s brother is a transvestite living in California. Totally anti-gun previously. Well, a couple of weeks ago this “thing” got a bit nervous with all the corona virus stuff going on and potential for violence. He decided it was time to buy a shotgun which he did. He calls my buddy and ask how it works. My buddy laughs a bit and tells him to go take a basic class or two to learn the basics. My buddy heard no more from this brother-in-law. Well, last week my friend’s wife told him her brother had called all in a snivel. Seems he was trying to learn how to use the gun in his apartment and it went off. I know, loaded round in the chamber and all! Well the next thing this guys knows is the cops are at his door and proceeded to relieve him of his newly purchased weapon. Too God damn funny when my buddy told me this story! Thankfully no innocents were hurt by the POS cross-dressing faggot.

Yeah – Education over the phone would be a great idea. Would you do it? That’s why he suggested a class you fucking moran. If you’ve seen three unintended discharges you need a better group of friends to play with. I’ve seen one when I was young out hunting with a friend. I was standing in front of him when he pulled his 12 gauge shotgun out of its case. just as we got to where we were going to hunt. Put his finger on the trigger inside the case and pulled the gun halfway out of the case when it went off. Blew the hair on the back of my head (it was long then) over the top of it. I turned and looked at him and he said “I didn’t think it was loaded”. I responded to him “Your first three words said it all…you didn’t think”. Put my gun away and never shot or hunted with him again.

no, not over the phone of course – he was calling long distance? but even over the phone he could have recited the “always treat as loaded, don’t chamber until ready to fire, finger off the trigger until ready to fire” etc rules at least, might have helped.

in any case the tranny was asking to learn something, and was turned away. he wont forget that and likely he’s learned not to ask.

“moran”

that’s the second time I’ve seen “moron” spelled that way here. is there a reason for that?

“If you’ve seen three unintended discharges you need a better group of friends to play with.”

well one was family decades ago, one was a soldier years ago, and one was in a gun store a couple of years ago. not sure who else I could play with ….

I grew up in farm country in central N.J. where every back door had a gun behind it and a .22 in the barn. Don’t recall ever hearing about accidental discharge but we were taught from the earliest memories that there is no such thing as an empty gun. There was no such thing as a local gun safety instructor. That was the domain of the older men or older brothers. We are such pussies now it’s hard to hold out any hope for this country.
A former president who goes on a casual bike ride dressed like a hockey goalie and a Republicaan President who shuts down the whole country of the common cold doesn’t leave much room for hopey changey.

see, this is why the individualist right has been losing and will continue to lose. it is faux superior and exclusive, because its real goal is not any standards or facts or truth or logic which anyone can share and to which anyone may agree and come to, but rather each individual’s exclusive self, to be asserted and maintained. once each exclusive individual finds an excuse to do so, they draw the line between themselves and others, and once drawn that line stays, no matter what. this is portrayed as integrity and consistency, but really it’s just a goal, an end state.

but individuals get run over by teams.

cicero said friendship is based on shared views in all things. augustine said friendship is based on shared views in the important things. one would hope that friendship would be based on more than a shared opposition to another tribe.

It’s not the “enemy of my enemy” thing in this situation. It is that I share the same core views and values as my friend. Last I checked freedom of association is an inherent right in this life whether anyone thinks it is good or bad. It’s my choice. Isn’t shared opposition a type of view on things? Does that mean I shouldn’t be friends with him because I oppose the same things as he? That “other guy” can do whatever he wants to do. I really don’t give a tinkers damn. Doesn’t mean I have to agree with it just as he (or others) may not agree with my views.

I got bopped in the forehead less than a year ago by a 230 fmj .45 slug. I was too close to a rack of steel plates I was shooting. I usually shoot them from 25 yards and this time I was maybe 10-15 feet. No blood but I felt it.

Amusing story. After being in the company of strangers on public ranges I took to wearing body armor. All it took was one negligent discharge BY AN UNSUPERVISED KID while his dad and I were downrange checking targets.
Sent one of my own to a 3 day firearms class for his 21st birthday at an indoor range here in NJ. All the instructors were NRA certified Glock club fanboys. Prior to that I taught him basic rules of safety and how to re-assemble a basic semi-auto pistol. No problems with him or the other two who will be Army officers with better hardware than I can afford.
The trick?
Keeping the ammo hidden in a place only I know and apart from the stored firearms. No problems.

I’m kinda thinking the big shortage will be competent and trustworthy people with which to cooperatively effort to eke out survival And, if you’re 100 lbs over weight and couldn’t run a mile without a major cardiac event, much less engage the enemy after doing so, you’re not prepared. You just have a lot of stuff someone is going to take after you’re dead. Also, if you’re stockpiling .380 you’re an idiot. You’d be better armed with a tomahawk and a war hammer.
