If a mask works inside a health facility, it stands to reason that it would work equally well outside one. When washing one’s hands or attempting to protect one’s health by wearing a mask becomes someone’s business besides mine, it’s then time to tell these people to fuck off. Fuck off.

Possibly true but only if people use them properly, they are fitted properly, they put them on properly and remove them properly. Very few people will do that. The home made ones are a useless fashion statement at best.
Any mask will reduce the amount of droplets and aerosol particles inhaled. The effectiveness will vary, but is still greater than zero. It is reasonable for anyone in the “high risk” category to wear a mask inside enclosed public spaces, regardless of what others choose to do.
It will also reduce the amount of oxygen inhaled.

shouldn’t the standard be a Pulse Oximeter to find that Low Blood Oxygen level, which is characteristic of all cases, not just the most symptomatic ones?

Vitamin D levels seem to be more predictive of negative outcomes. I think the point is that wearing a mask lowers your O2 level and should be avoided at all costs unless you are in the very risky category. Indeed, the CDC is recommending 100% mask wearing for all kids over 2 for all day at school. No recess, no lunchroom eating, just sitting all day at your desk in a mask. What the fuck are those people thinking?
