SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
SMC, nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

A triple Play

Sometimes I like to color outside the lines. So, here I go again on my own.

I want to submit a triple play, all composed by the great Ennio Morricone (who is now 91 years of age.)

A renowned trumpet player, composer and conductor. He was known for his scores of spaghetti westerns such as the epic “Once Upon A Time In The West” starring Henry Fonda. Charles Bronson and Jason Robards in 1968. He also scored the famous spaghetti western titled “The Good The Bad And The Ugly” starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach in 1966.

I want to bookend these pieces around his great theme from the motion picture titled “The Mission”.

The bookend pieces are both played by the Danish National Symphony under the direction of the lovely Sarah Hicks. Special attention should be paid to the voices of Tuva Semmingsen and Christine Nonbo Andersen on “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.” “On Once Upon a Time In The West”, Hans Ulrik plays a haunting harmonica while Tuva lends her beautiful voice once again.

In the middle of the sammich, Morricone conducts his own beautiful score of the theme from “The Mission”.

People should especially note the beautiful melody from the First Oboe on “The Mission”, and to provide historical content to “The Mission” is that Morricone conducted the music of this 1982 film that starred Robert DeNiro, and Jeremy Irons and Liam Neesom, with the Munich Radio Orchestra.

Tear jerking as it can be, it draws thousands of heartfelt comments. Sit back and enjoy the genius of Ennio Morricone.

I hope that you enjoy.

Tchaikovsky:Waltz of the Flowers-Daniel Barenboim

The “Waltz of the Flowers” (1892) is a piece of orchestral music from the second act of The Nutcracker, a ballet composed by Tchaikovsky.

The “Waltz of the Flowers” is very popular. It has been arranged for various instruments and for various combinations of instruments.

Walt Disney Studios animated the waltz for the movie Fantasia.

Mozart – The Marriage of Figaro Overture (K.492)

Wiener Symphoniker Japan Tour 2006

Conductor : Fabio Luisi

Mozart Overture Cosi fan tutte

Performed live by Sinfonia Rotterdam

Under the baton of Conrad van Alphen

In De Doelen Rotterdam on 26 September 2015.

SUPERB selections as usual Sir.
My geriatric Teflon skillet brain is slightly confused with the references to the Mission piece, that I did not see, or did I miss how it was presented?

As the music is so very critical to the movies maybe do a Sunday selection of more movie pieces. Some of the extensive contributions of John Williams are everlasting.

Great selections as usual.

Here’s a submission for you that doesn’t exactly fall into any specific genre, but seems to encompasses all of them. Frank Zappa and the Mothers: “The Little House I Used To Live In.”

Edit: Had a hard time finding the right video link. But here’s the right one.

Mute every riot video you watch.

Every last riot video goes better with this;

Thanks, again guys. I especially enjoyed the Morricone sandwich. Was listening to Mission while viewing some of the riot videos and it was the perfect soundtrack for the vids, sending chills up my back.
