Anyone interested in understanding the mechanics of human history must first and foremost understand the cycles of Nature and the nature of living things. There exist a balance in every closed system; creation and dissolution, growth and decay, life and death. There is no escape from this dynamic, no means by which one can exist without the other. Sometimes societies ascend, but eventually, over time, they collapse.
For a very long time America has benefited from exploiting the reserves of other nations- their labor, their resources, and their environments in a form of cultural strip mining. It has given the appearance of a sustainable system that required no effort to store surpluses or to build reserves for the future. There has been a perpetual live for the moment feel to our experience that was based on such illusory systems as credit and fiat.
These things are not real. They are manifest realities, things that exist only because a critical mass of people agree to believe in them rather than what is reflected by actuality. When such time occurs that a large enough number of people abandon their participation in that system, reality rushes in to the void left behind.
A large part of what we are seeing- as described to us by experts or media- is occult in nature, hidden not by design or subterfuge, but due to the ignorance or stupidity of the mass of men. They no longer recognize that a large part of what is taking place on the streets of cities like Portland and Minneapolis is simply a mating ritual for a generation that was so atomized and dissolute that they had no opportunity to make real life connections with the opposite sex except through electronic devices. Living beings cannot- despite the assurances of the Musks and Weils- exist by proxy.
They must eat, sleep, perform some activity during their waking hours, seek companionship, etc. These drives can be sublimated or suppressed either by societal controls or chemical dependencies, but they cannot be removed from our core drive. This is what happens when humans are thwarted from fulfilling their animal destinies- the drives of their particular species. If you eliminate the family, you do not stop fornication. If you eradicate healthy foods and a connection to its production, you do not eliminate hunger. Thus the dramatic rise in obesity and the ubiquity of pornography.
Everything exists in context, there is no way to eliminate the void left behind in a fatherless home without a corresponding flow of the feminine. A mind that has no reason will seek to replace it with an equal measure of emotion.
The Western Cultural experience that gained prominence and near global hegemony over the past several centuries is in terminal decline, accelerated by the opportunistic interference of competing cultural spheres, but predominantly by its own senescence. We are, in short, spent. What we are seeing is not a political or ideological struggle- again, manifest realities- but the natural process of a cultural expiration. The West is dying and with it all of the ideals and symbols that were attached to its rise.
Just as an elderly family member in their last days makes a point to give away their possessions, America is passing its treasures on; freedom of speech, the iconic symbols of Manifest Destiny like the statues of its heroes, even its own birthright to the rising of a new cultural expression, one that is less concerned with things like honor, nobility, truth and justice. None of those things exist in Nature, but rather are created and used like iron tools to achieve an end. Now that its energy is spent they serve no purpose, especially to the multitudes of others who share a far more dynamic and exuberant expression of collective identity.
This is a natural event, no different from a forest fire, but one which applies to the human species specifically. This is how we clear the ground for whatever is to replace us and we will serve as its fertilizer.

I posted this yesterday but I think it is also relevant here.
I have an opinion based on some prior experience overseas. I lived in Indonesia during their currency meltdown and downfall of US installed hatchet man Suharto. The environment here has the same feel, like the Deep State has lost and they’re going to steal and destroy as much as possible to punish the winners who are left to pick up the pieces. Once the genie is out of the bottle there is no getting it back in. Will be very turbulent and dangerous times.
I also remember stories told to me when I lived in Angola about the transition from Portuguese rule to independence between 1975-76. Angola had over 400,000 white settlers and most decided to return to Portugal rather than take their chances with the certain to be elected communist MPLA. Before they left they instituted a systematic program of infrastructure sabotage – tearing out rail lines, no maintenance on hydroelectric generators, not dredging the ports, even pouring cement down sewers. Seems to me that’s the objective of the color revolution now as there is no way this thing will gain critical mass and morph into popular support. Although of some size, media optics have it appearing way larger than it really is.

But there are additional factors to consider in Indonesia. There are certain personalities and cultures that cling to a power structure. They need the authority. Over the centuries you have seen some degree of this in western Euro countries, but the need for individualism is much more prominent in western Euro countries. The cultural makeup of the US is still vastly American Individualism for those that are rural.
The urban areas are different and so are those that comprise that culture. I think this may suggest a controlled burn, mostly confined and bloody in the urban areas due to the suburban areas being the buffer zone. This is actually another reason this will be slightly different. No other collapse has had a people well armed and those that were armed of the individualist mindset. No other collapse has had a force of “ex”-military with decades of experience in battle situations number in the millions who took the oath of defending the nation and will continue to do so until death.
The biggest issue will actually be supply lines which is why food processing has been hit so hard. If you have to battle an opposing force you cut their supply lines. Notice that food has been bottle-necked in addition to many building supplies and other durable goods given the forced interdependence on globalism (again stripping the individualists). Of course the bottle-necks have occurred in the commie centers of food production – California and Michigan being two of the largest.
The problem for those desiring liberty is that many still believe this will end with a Trump win. It will not. People still believe they will have a 401k and Pension. They will not. People look at the rioters as the problem. They are not and should not be the focus of any countering of action, regardless of that avenue one wants to pursue to counter. Those the are the source are those that are always overlooked. The government individuals in power. The DA’s, Judges, Mayors, Governors and so on.

The Judges, Prosecutors, and ‘Law’ enforcement in the US are definitely the single largest criminal element in the world. If I were on a jury, I would give all of them the death penalty.

I have to disagree that the Suburbs will be the buffer zone. The Rural areas will be the buffer/line in the sand zone . Most folks in the Suburbs of the Demonrat run cities aren’t prepared and ill-equipped to fight for very long.
In the Rural areas especially in the South folks are well prepared,in some cases well trained for what’s to come .

Speculation on “cycles” of human and societal behavior remain simply that: speculation. Determinism is a school of philosophy that is pessimistic, depressing and open to challenge. Challenge it! The future–immediate, medium and long term–is open to change at any given moment, personally and societally. Sentient human life is far more unpredictable in the human sphere than is the case with the rest of the natural world.

This is exactly the type of conversation I always enjoyed around here. There are so many fine distinctions to be made. It is absurd to say that humanity transcends Nature in any meaningful way. It is equally absurd to say that we operate entirely within its bounds. The dinosaurs lived for a hundred and fifty million years or so, maybe a few million more, maybe a a few million less. And that simple rounding error in their timeline is orders of magnitude longer than all of human existence. But one could hardly argue that our existence has been less interesting.
Cycles are clearly evident in human civilization, but we do not (or at least have not) gone back to what it was a mere 10 or fifty thousand years ago. In other words, there is progress. Will King’s words of “Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” prove true or false? There has clearly been progress over the past 5-6 thousand years, ever increasing. Are we in the middle of that arc still or nearing its end? Will the tools of America (the refined tools of the Enlightenment) be passed on, perhaps even refined further in the next iteration? I would definitely like to think so. The issue is, of course, nuclear weapons. They have never before been available to tyrants and lunatics during times of great change. Are these natural? In a way, definitely. What could be more natural than unleashing the energy contained in the Strong and Weak Forces. The ones that hold literally every bit of matter together. On the other hand, what ridiculous, but brilliant, creature would ever devise such things?
The concept of manifest reality is an outstanding one and another thing that is singularly human (in the entire cosmos for all we know). We make things real on an individual level and of course on a societal one. It makes me wonder how far that idea goes. Does it, in fact, Turtle All the Way Down. Something like the Arc of LIFE (on a cosmic scale, as a fundamental force????) is long and bends towards consciousness? Consciousness is there at the beginning and the end? Where is the line between manifest reality and whatever other type of Reality is extant? Some might say I have just re-stated the anthropic principle, but I think its more of a tangent from it.

I appreciated the analogy to the forest burning. There are in nature plants which require fire to germinate. And I agree with Francis Marion; this has to happen.
There is a passage in one of A. Conan Doyle’s later Holmes stories which I recalled the other day, thinking about current conditions in this country. The passage I refer to is in “His Last Bow” concerning the time just before the First World War:

I have usually been an optimist through the tribulations of my life, and there have been a few of those – Viet Nam, the riots of the later 1960s, the recessions of the ‘70s, later ‘80s, and the disaster of 2007 onward. Three times in my life I have been able to resolve potentially violent encounters because I had the presence of mind to be armed at the time. Fortunately, none of these incidents required the use of force. At 81 years this old grey fox is still around and kicking.

I do not advocate such violence, but I believe this time is sufficiently different that it is inevitable.

Take care of yourself and those for whom you are responsible. Pay attention to local affairs. Develop your security based on your location and personal situation. Remember that survival is more about what is in your head, rather than what in is your pantry, or your arms locker.

More often than not, I have a sense of gratitude as I peruse TBP – for the insights and acknowledgements thereupon, and for those who typed the words.
There is much wisdom in this post… as well as the ensuing comments. I especially enjoyed the perspectives of
Sionnach Liath above and, for whatever reason, had envisioned him to be a much younger man. Just more affirmation, I guess – of how the flame in some people’s spirit burns eternal; even as bodies wither in time’s fire.
For obvious reasons, I’m reminded of a quote in the 2007 movie “No Country for Old Men“. It was one of those rare films that was quite close to being as good as the book. Anyway, there was a scene where a Texas sheriff (played by Tommy Lee Jones) sought the counsel of an older mentor by the name of Ellis (played by Barry Corbin) who said:

A sense of fatalism can take two forms, resignation or acceptance, and surely these are in the eyes of the beholder.

Believe it or not, Frank, my non-cynical (nonsensical?) self was actually inspired by the recent Republican convention. It brought to mind the nostalgia of America as founded: A nation of ideas, principles, and values over petty political positioning and gamesmanship.
The speakers, many of them common folk, expressed their genuine appreciation for President Trump standing in the breach of making America great again or complete oblivion.
I found myself wondering if Trump actually is the nation’s last best hope. But, then, the realist within me speculated if Trump was one, instead, hired by the elite… and playing a role prepared for him in advance while generating enthusiasm in the same ways as seen in professional wrestling.
For years now, I’ve written regarding the “episodes” unfolding in the daily headlines as having a sort of movie-of-the-week, reality-TV-show vibe.
I want to believe. But I do wonder if The Puppet Masters don’t have the game rigged for 2020 as they seemingly did in 2016:
– if the scum-bag Democrat presidential candidate wins, then Marxist hell will begin immediately…
– but if Trump wins, the Marxist hell will still come… and right on schedule.
Can democracy save the nation at this point? Or is it all just for show?

Excellent link… I often reference Cloward/Piven and Saul Alinsky when I want clarity on the tactics of the enemy. Reading Agenda 2030 gives discernment on their End Game goals.

Try talking to the citizens of Los Alamos New Mexico. The US government conducted a controlled burn there. They ignored the weather forecast for high winds because they new better and things would be controlled by them. They lost half the town. I have been thru a forest fire and while my home survived i was burned and the dozer needed extensive repairs. I have every intention of fighting the coming fire as best i can far from home. BTW the DOZER is 73 years old, weighs 3000lbs sans blade and is fueled by gasoline. Try that on for size fighting a crowned monster, the coming fire will be all that and more.

I was told several years ago by an astrology “expert” that 2020 would be a bad year. I can’t recall exactly but it was something about the same alignment of pluto and saturn which occurred prior to both WW1 and WW2. The good news is the alignment breaks on 21st of December.
Most people are unconscious. They spend their lives in a dream state, reacting to events. Those who are most obsessed with power, control and satisfying their unquenchable greed are MOST under the influence of external events. Hence the state of the world and the perpetual failure of our “leaders”
HSF is spot on, nature and life are cyclic. Are we not in the Fourth Turning of the current saeculum? Where we come out the other end though is more of a debate in my mind. I believe only the Big Man upstairs truly knows and it’s for him to know and us to find out. I refuse to totally give up on this experiment of true Liberty we call the United States. It will be changed for sure because the only thing certain besides death and taxes is change. For the better I hope and pray, but we may no longer be a nation from sea to shining sea. Balkanization is highly likely. I refuse to give up the fight, ya got to keep on moving forward. Get right with your maker and those that you truly love for we will soon be writing history that will be talked about and examined for centuries to come.

I found it interesting how hate fills up a rational mind and eliminates rational thought. That education is not just the dumbing down of the populace the “socialization” disguised as education teaches them that feeling is the same as thinking, and we know it is not.
America is passing its treasures on; freedom of speech, the iconic symbols of Manifest Destiny like the statues of its heroes, even its own birthright to the rising of a new cultural expression, one that is less concerned with things like honor, nobility, truth and justice. None of those things exist in Nature, but rather are created and used like iron tools to achieve an end. Now that its energy is spent they serve no purpose, – It seems that HSF has chosen to adopt a rather fatalistic approach to our destiny and has chosen to either ignore, or overlook the ultimate over riding command and control superiority of divine providence.
We are a nation under God and have been given an unconditional covenant by said God. The United States is the New Jerusalem and a regathering of the thirteen tribes of Israel as prophesied in the Bible. A remnant will always remain to perpetuate honor, nobility, truth and justice, which according to the God of Israel, have a very definite purpose in maintaining order in a civilized society after the demonic edomite tares are gathered into bundles and burned.

I didn’t like what you said. Second reading was helpful. I think you
said the USA has burned it’s bridges through duplicity and greed.
What we see is what it is and it is what was wrought. Violence begets
violence. Lost trust is very hard to regain. Not all people are ignorant
but the desire to fit in and belong is the biggest draw. Thus the gadgets.
People are more in love with gadgets than other people. And God is the
one offended. Bring on the abortions! Once the greed trumps all and
people will do anything to get ahead/make more $$$$, “doing the right
thing” falls to the wayside. We are in the abyss/there is no balance/ and
revenge against the system and the inhabitants within, is building.

HSF- Ive read it a couple times now. You know, I’m slow. But can offer a couple of more thought out reflections.
Senescence. It was a big one I’d not heard before, decay, decadence, and the consequences of those. It really is the one word that captures the essence of the piece. That and the title, Societal Collapse, but senescence is that plus more with less.
The West is not clearly defined in the piece, accoutrements of the west are alluded to but not precisely set out. So I imagine there could be a wide range of Western Conceptions.
Marxism for instance, East or West? Banking? The hinterlands that have swayed East and back West ephemerally, blending, the birth of the West in the Med, the North, Christianity, technology.
I kind of pile all that up mentally and imagine a series of Turnings occurring in which the West has been spent, or will finally be spent this particular saeculum. Trying to maintain a high level view, high enough to talk of the end of the West, I would say its possible, the most possible of any time since its inception, wherever we can casually agree that is. And the reason I say this is not senescence, although no doubt contributing, but rather technology. Senescence, is constant natural feature as you so eloquently laid out, technology is not.
Technology is unnatural, and a key feature of the West. The West could survive another round of senescence induced Turnings, if the technology exponent wasn’t so elevated. Rome would be my justification, as we approach Calligulan levels of decadence. The West could survive this bout as well if were not for the tech exponent. The tech provides extinctional dangers on multiple levels, one, our use of tech could become so exorbitant that senescence finally sets it for good, when trillions of fat ass’s hooked to feeding tubes finally robo strip mine the last iota of natural sustenance from a beyond polluted rock.
Unfortunately, there will be many more saeculum before that happens.
Another would be through sloth and degeneracy we lose control of the tech, or turn our souls over to it, or it becomes so concentrated that a schism occurs within humanity, a fork. This is increasingly worrisome, and could occur in this crisis, although it is not clear if the remnant would be of the West or not.
Additionally, tech has provided the use of weapons now powerful enough to get it done. This would be the most likely, end of the West, scenario, in this 4th Turning, in my opinion. I can only imagine the darkness of the Super Weapons on deck.
I dont see it this round, there is still much light in the torch, enough to stave off the burn it all down crew for another saeculum.

I saw a vid the other day from a guy who studied more than 100 cultures/societies that died and the final issue that determined their Fate was the acceptance of Tranny’s. Must be because they are insane and acceptance of Insanity turns everyone else off. Probably the good/sane people then leave, insanity left to it’s own devices probably eats itself pretty quickly.
