(2) Crazy follow-up: the 17-23% Black fatherlessness rates that horrified Danny Moynihan and led to his Report are lower than those for ALL non-Asian groups today: Caucasians sit at 35.4%, Hispanic and Native groups at 50-66%, Blacks at 71%, and the nation as a whole at 42%.

No shit, really?
God bless the Family Proclamation (1995)
I’ll stick with the late Paul Harvey’s take on Mormonism.
(from 1970)

You actually think you’re going to find a convert here? The people here have a fucking brain. Shove the Church of Mormontology horse shit up your ass.
He is NOT trying to make converts. In fact, I seriously doubt he gives a shit about the Mormon religion.
Imagine that you deeply love your religion (pretend, if you must). It gives you strength, hope, joy, and many other wonderful things … so much so, that you want others to experience the same thing. How would you go about making converts?
Would you be obnoxious to excess? Would you be disrespectful? Would you mock, curse, and abuse those who disagree with you? Would you constantly act in a way to bring shame and embarrassment to your God? Would you wear out your welcome by constantly harassing people, even when they ask you to stop?
Or, would you simply LIVE your faith in a way that brings glory to God?
If being a Mormon was illegal …. would there even be enough evidence to convict this guy?
You know the answers to all these questions.
22winmag is a fraud. A huckster of the worst kind. I’m sure the majority of actual Mormons (mostly good people) would be ashamed to be affiliated with him. He is in this for one big reason …… himself.
I’m guessing that one reason he does what he does is because it gets under people’s skin! So, why do we play along?? Why don’t we just totally ignore his Mormontard posts?? I’m fairly certain that if he gets ignored, really ignored, for a long enough period of time, he will go away, or at least stop his childish behavior.
I agree with all you just stated Stuck. Awhile back I accused winnie of living for down votes. “because it gets under people’s skin!”
I miss EC. He is the music man.
We have seen Maggie and Paulette make appearances this past few days, so maybe El Coyote will chime in soon. He is the master of the music video and master creator of alternative lyrics.
those #s can be misleading b/c so many people live together w/o getting married–however, the gist of it is correct–
too many kids are born into or wind up being raised in single parent households–
some solutions would be no welfare,a cooling off period of at least a year b4 a divorce if kids are involved, unmarried minor kids not being allowed to raise their own kids and the most effective thing of all would be to go back to the days of shaming/humiliation–
yeah,i know, none of this will happen, which is why we’re screwed–
A couple of years after MTV first ran their show “16 and Pregnant,” teen birth rates were actually falling. The show at one time showed the horrors of being pregnant and 16. Then girls from the show started getting lucrative modeling and acting careers and suddenly getting pregnant at 16 became the thing to do. Now the show is a decade old and the teen pregnancy rate is way up again. Once you make bad decisions a lucrative lifestyle choice, you can never put that genie back in the bottle. MTV, E, Bravo, Logo, and others are leading the Decline of Western Civilization and televising it all the way down.
It is certainly one thing to be kind to those, who, because of unforseen circumstances, are raising a child alone. I’m sure it wasn’t the plan my mom had in mind, but you do the best you can with what you have. But you don’t treat it as a choice that is as good or even superior to a two-parent family. You don’t elevate it to a “heroic” choice. You don’t subsidize it, encourage it, fund it, or otherwise. You don’t let fathers off and let taxpayers pick up the check. You do everything you can to make those who chose to have the child, be responsible for the child. How hard is that to understand?
And to be clear…the REAL ROOT of our modern problems is GOVERNMENT 100%. Because even if society had only 5% of kids being raised in single-parent households, the government would still be making life miserable for everyone, one way or another.
i detest the term single mom b/c it is morally neutral–
is she widowed?divorced, and if so,why?no fault divorce should not be allowed when kids are involved–
baby born out of wedlock?
True indeed. My mom was single because she divorced my alcoholic father, who died 5 years later. I do agree that no-fault divorce sets up everyone in the family for failure in the end.
Father of Mine
I’ve seen this video. This guy has serious “daddy” issues.
Daniel Patrick Moynihan published his report in 1965, just as LBJ’s (not so)Great Society was being implemented. Some $18 – $20 Trillion later and our poverty rate is almost as high and our out-of-wedlock rates are through the roof. I guess paying women to have babies and preventing the father from being involved in the lives of their children hasn’t worked out so well, has it?
It has, however, created a permanent underclass that is more than willing to vote for those who promise to give them moar.
The good Lord never intended a child to be raised by one parent. Male and female, husband and wife, father and mother. They each have their own specific jobs to do raising children and when one especially the Father isn’t there the child and society loses. We have a saying in my Family that goes back to at least my Great Grandfather, “Fear God and the Father”.
