I am occasionally conflicted over Pink Floyd. They were one of the soundtracks of my youth. Hallucinogens and laser shows at the planetarium. So much of their music is so good. My wife and I saw Roger Waters about a decade or so ago in Vegas and while he is haggard his voice is still good. But sometimes I think he just needs to be hit in the face with a shovel, I mean his politics shouldn’t surprise me, nor really should they anger me anymore then any other celebrity. But… they do. Maybe it is because his music has such a part in my youth and such a place in my heart that I really wish he wasn’t such an asshat?

Pretty much goes with any Rock band and suprisingly even some Country acts today. With me it was the Eagles, will always love their music but never their politics.

I believe Roger Waters is on record condemning the apartheid, criminal state of Israel.

Coupled with The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking, that covers a multitude of sins.

That he stood up for Julian Assange https://www.rt.com/news/467821-roger-waters-assange-song/video/5d6d58dddda4c87e5e8b45df
made me forgive his other asshattery.

Waters did say his father was a hardliner communist and that is why his dad decided to fight the national socialists. Apple doesnt fall far from the tree. I am an enormous fan of the Floyd throughout all iterations of the band and some of the solo stuff respectively. I take my meaning from the lyrics in spite of the glaring true sense of how Waters intended it. At least for the more political stuff. Imagine how much programming the herd was back then versus now: same ideologies, just different delivery methods. Hundreds of times more ways to put in the hypnotic suggestions now. Especially with the constant repeating of the mantra by mainstream and the herd. I think I was conceived at one of their concerts in Anaheim either prior to or post-concert lol.

Amused to Death was probably Waters best solo stuff as he shits on everything on every side. At least I like to think so. Dude puts on an amazing live show though. Gilmour concerts were too expensive lol.

Comfortably Numb is acquiescence to government. There is no other explanation for the theme. No one that rebels against the powers that be refuses to be in that state.

Over the years, while I still do like pink floyd, I hate most of their propaganda.

Admin – Went to the link and read your posting and the comments. Your original post was 9 years ago next month, reposted 4 1/2 years ago and it is still relevant. I also saw a cartoon from LLPOH that is as applicable today as it was in Nov 2011. Will it still be relevant 4 1/2 years hence or will we have the courage to throw off the bonds of the banksters and their masters? Only time will tell, but it will all wash out in this 4th turning.

I like Pink Floyd and especially Gilmour’s guitar, but it’s super-depressing.

not depressing… melancholy

Just couldn’t watch it all.
Not stoned anymore and like so many “old” rock bands, the beat feels like a slog towards the showers propelled by a certified medication technician.
