Pictorial Essay: 25 Maps

These pictorial essays are waning in popularity. Nevertheless, here’s one more …. just to keep things different. Actually, I believe these maps are very educational.

Red Features A Total Population Greater Than The Grey

The areas in red have a greater population than the gray!

=====

The Population Of Middle America = Both Coasts

The population (counties) of Middle America and Coastal America are the same.

=====

Greenland Looks Tiny Next To South America

Greenland looks so HUGE on a map, or globe. In reality it’s 8 times smaller than South America.

=====

Texas Doesn't Look All That Big Next To Africa

Texans love to brag about their size. But, they ain’t but a pea next to the Darky Continent.

=====

Light Pollution Throughout The Continental United States

There’s a reason I can’t see any stars most nights in the shit-hole state of New Joisey ….. light pollution.

=====

Land Use Throughout The United States

3.8 million acres of land use.

=====

The Reach Of The Mongolian Empire In 1279

From Central and Eastern Europe … to the Sea of Japan … to the Arctic … westward to the Carpathian mountains  … to Southeast Asia … to the Indian subcontinent, and the Iranian Plateau ……… the Mongolian Empire was the largest bordering land empire in the history of the world. An astounding 9,000,000 acres.

=====

Metric System Vs. Imperial System

Isn’t the USA special!!  One of only three countries NOT on the metric system.

=====

Middle America Has More Farmland Than Trees

Trees in America ….. we have 8% of the world’s total.

=====

Abandoned Railroads No Longer In Use

Abandoned railroads …. a national disgrace!

=====

Eight Million Miles Of Highway In The United States

The USA has 8 million miles of highway.

=====

Australia Vs. The United States

Hey, LLPOH, bite me!!  America is 27% larger than Australia. USA!USA!USA!

=====

Majority Of The US Has A Smaller Population Than LA County

LA County has a population larger than each of these states.  Also, LA County has 27 times the amount of shit on their sidewalks.

=====

The US If States Were Sized By Population Density

The states sized by population density.

=====

China Vs. The United States

China (3.6 million sq mi)  is slightly larger than the USA (3.5 million sq mi). Now try to imagine the USA with ONE BILLION more people! That’s why those commie rat bastards eat bats, cats, dogs, insects, and anything else that moves, including dicks.

=====

United States Vs. India

Dotland is even worse …. 1.3 billion dots in an area one-third the size of the USA. On a windy day you can smell the stench in Kansas City.  India will eventually collapse under its own weight …. and then most will come to the USA to work in the call centers.

=====

Most of the worlds population in one circle

Ufookingbelievable!!

=====

Antarctica Takes Over The United States And Parts Of Canada

Did you realize Antarctica was this HUGE?? Less than 5,000 people live there … or, about the number of Dots packed in one bus in Calcutta. None of the population are permanent residents … all researchers, scientists, etc.

=====

Countries the Brits invaded. Damned Brits! Aren’t you curious as to why the fuck they never invaded Sweden?

=====

 A top-down 3-D view of the cortico-connections originating from multiple distinct cortical areas, visualized as virtual tractography using Allen Institute Brain Explorer software.

This map of the brain cost about $300 million to produce. Obama lauched the “Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechologies” (BRAIN) Initiative, a research project with the ambitious goal of mapping every neuron in the human brain, with the long-term hope of unraveling the neurological causes of various diseases. If they only chose to map Joe Biden’s brain — it would have only cost about ten bucks.

When they changed from qt to l for alcohol sales, my dad asked me how much liquor went up with the change. He had an old bottle with a price on it and a new one. I calculated and it seems it was around 5% increase. I guess they made the customers pay for the conversion and we are still paying for it with every handle we bring home.

Stuck, here are the basis points of our system. An inch is basically the width of a man’s thumb, foot, that’s kind of self-explanatory, and the yard is basically a man’s stride. What the fuck is a centimeter? Who knows, and who cares. So having a useful baseline means that American dudes can be getting stuff done, while euro weenies are sitting around waiting for somebody to lend them a ruler. It’s not a coincidence that we had to save that stupid continent twice.

There are so many equations in physics and thermodynamics that can be understood by simply understanding the breakdown of units, but it only really works in metric. For instance, if you understand how force, energy and power break down and then can apply proper units, you get:

1 Newton = 1 kg*m/sec^2…then energy is force applied along a distance, so 1 Joule = 1 kg*m^2/sec^2. Then power is energy applied per unit time, so 1 Watt = 1kg*m^2/sec^3. And that is the same Watt, mechanically, as the electrical Watt = 1 Amp*Volt or 1 Watt = 1 (coulomb/sec)*(Joule/coulomb).

Metric units make it simple enough that I could ace engineering tests despite spending most of my college years in a drunken stupor.

Now, I can only think and design in English units, that make no sense. like 1 lbf = 1 slug*ft/sec^2. What the fuck is a slug of mass? That said, I have no intuitive idea about metric lengths. I know 1 Stucky’s Schlong = 19mm but what does that really mean?

An easy one with kilomerts goes like this:

A highschool track is 400 meters long. 4 laps is a mile or 1600 meters. Everything I work with is sub mm so I don’t have an intuitive grasp of mm vs inches. I just don’t use them.

Worked with a big tech company and we converted to metric units of length over about 4 years in the late ’80s-wasn’t too difficult, but it still takes a little time to visualize something like 47mm, though through experience a quick answer is “something a little less than 2 inches”. Therefore we know that Bill Clinton’s dick is about 76 mm (as Monica verified in her conversation with Linda).

I can’t think conceptualize well in metric either…but I wish I could.

The other one to think about is Fahrenheit vs Celsius.

Set the freezing point of water (STP) at 0, set the building point of water (STP) at 100 and you scale is set. It’s brilliant. Sure Absolute Zero is a round number, but at the time they had no idea that there was such a thing.

I honestly have no idea whatsoever where the Fahrenheit scale came from.

Actually, most science is on the metric system worldwide. It is far easier to add, subtract, divide, and multiply by powers of ten. Don’t get me wrong. I prefer the avoirdupois system for the measurements I do on a regular basis, but the metric is a much simpler way to do the math.

There is a fun (at least for me) discussion of some of the practical and theoretical problems associated with various linked units of mass, energy etc. at Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Prototype_of_the_Kilogram

The stability of the IPK was crucial because the kilogram underpinned much of the SI system of measurement as it was defined and structured until 2019. For instance, the newton is defined as the force necessary to accelerate one kilogram at one metre per second squared. If the mass of the IPK were to change slightly then the newton would also change proportionally. In turn, the pascal, the SI unit of pressure, is defined in terms of the newton. This chain of dependency follows to many other SI units of measure. For instance, the joule, the SI unit of energy, is defined as that expended when a force of one newton acts through one metre. Next to be affected is the SI unit of power, the watt, which is one joule per second.

Until May 2019, the ampere was also defined relative to the newton. With the magnitude of the primary units of electricity thus determined by the kilogram, so followed many others, namely the coulomb, volt, tesla, and weber. Even units used in the measure of light would be affected; the candela—following the change in the watt—would in turn affect the lumen and lux.

Because the magnitude of many of the units comprising the SI system of measurement was until 2019 defined by its mass, the quality of the IPK was diligently protected to preserve the integrity of the SI system. However, the average mass of the worldwide ensemble of prototypes and the mass of the IPK have likely diverged another 7.4 μg since the third periodic verification 31 years ago.

And, of course, the less said about the dalton, the better.

Very interesting. I love maps. But even the first one is deceptive. Unintentionally, of course, because county boundaries rule – even if they are in uninhabited areas.

Am in Tuscon now but live in Phoenix. Literally ALL of the population there lives in 5-10% of the red area shown. The rest you can die of thirst before finding someone.

And in the entire red southern California, all those people are in a “millimeter” wide strip along the coast. All of the right hand side may as well be the Empty Quarter of Saudi Arabia.
Ever driven from San Bernardino to Vegas? Yuma to Palm Springs? Vegas to Reno? Don’t.
California’s Central Valley? Empty. Miami 7 miles in from the coast? Alligators!

I’m probably being obvious, but we live in an age of exaggerated overgeneralizing and stereotyping, witnessed in the media “culture”.

South Carolina is a good place to live if you stay away from the southern portion of the state (where the old plantations were). I’ve lived here all of my life and love it. You could get a nice place at Clark’s Hill next to the lake (now named after Strom Thurmond, but nobody calls it that.) Aiken and Edgefield counties are nice places to live. That sucks and did not used to happen.

Stucky, you can buy a regular computer keyboard to plug into your laptop if your fingers don’t fit.
I learned how to type on a manual typewriter and used electric typewriters for many years, both with the keys tiered upwards. I have a hard time typing on straight laptop keyboards. I simply use an added keyboard that has little feet at the back that can angle it upwards. Works great. And they’re cheap.

Stuck – thank you. You touched on the issues that saw me abandon ship. That you were MIA and that the Admin was commenting less frequently left me by myself fighting the fucktards and it grew tiresome. Hell, even when he commented, the Admin got booed. That was a final straw – that is simply unheard of by and large. And from what I am seeing, it is happening to you a bit, which is simply astonishing and reflective of the current clientele. It is a worry.

The fact they want to stay anonymous says more than their thoughts, opinions,questions. You have to wonder why the anonymity.

When people post without a handle, we cannot learn who they are, or what their positions are. Many people posting as anonymous means that they all remain anonymous, and their posts will be given little thought, and garner few responses.

How hard is it for those posting anonymously to create an appropriate name for themselves like “Imanarsehole” so we know who we are addressing?

I believe they are intertwined. To deliberately (versus accidentally, like when you’ve cleared cache) post anonymously demonstrates a lack of conviction. It’s worse than having a bad content of character. It’s fence sitting and deserves a swift kick in the nuts.

One caveat: If you’re bored enough and have the urge to play mind games with TBP trolls.

All the reasons I have been commenting very little of late. There have always been few people here that I genuinely enjoy reading/engaging with, but the ratio seems to be getting worse and worse as more time passes.

Two thoughts occur…people like to think that they are above the fray when it comes to the Fourth Turning and the End of the American Empire, but no one is. I believe it is deep in everyone’s psyche at this point and the best we can do is to simply be aware of that fact and still try to maintain some sort of balance.

Also, I think something analogous to Gresham’s Law applies across a much broader spectrum than just money. I think Bad Faith Arguments drive out Good Faith Ones, and in our modern world, Low Quality Comments/Commenters drive our the Good.

Thanks BL. And since you asked here goes:

In short, as always of late, there is too much information in general, too much bad information, too much politicization and far too little nuance.

I learned about the Coronavirus first in January…HERE. This happens a lot that raciss, deplorable, conspiracy theory laden, alt-right cesspools get the info first.

I then got most of my information from my old college roommate through Facebook, who is a bio-chemist and serious scientist. He was invaluable at producing solid analysis of the data that was available and what to ignore. He realized very early on that it was useless to track the number of cases and instead follow the numbers of deaths…then take a roughly 1% fatality rate and use it as a two-week lagging indicator of cases. These were growing exponentially in March and it was actually scary. Where these data were taken and how and by whom…well that is always a valid skeptical question, but almost always useless because it can never be known.

Now, I was never really worried about getting seriously ill or dying from it myself…but more of transmitting it to others more vulnerable and of the ensuing panic collapsing the world economy.
And what of that? Well, the system has proven itself to be far more resilient that I would have imagined. It seems that the central banks of the world really do have the power to paper over all problems…at least for the time being. I can’t imagine them being able to do so for long, but again, the times we live in are MORE unique that any that have come before.

Along about May, I started listening to Bret Weinstein and his wife Heather Heying on their podcast Darkhorse. They are excellent scientists and thinkers and worth listening to for everyone. The concern they voiced is less about the absolute death rate of SARS-Cov-2 but of long-term consequences that many people have shown, what might be downstream of those (there could be repercussions 20-30 YEARS later for all we know) and what might happen if this thing is allowed to evolve in the Petrie Dish of the general population. These things are never discussed in the mainstream. Also, to balance the perspective, they mention things like Density Dependence of Viral Load and UV Susceptibility, things the MSM believes people are too stupid to comprehend.

This leads to masks. Masks work to slow the spread of viruses in SOME ways. Viruses are at best an edge-case of organisms…meaning they are and are not living things. They need living cells to exist and to procreate…period. What this means is that they do not travel alone. This makes the mosquito and chain-link fence analogy disingenuous. Try hocking a big ole loogey through a mask and tell me they. Also, in the analogy the fence would be hundreds of feet THICK with each layer offset…mosquitos would die in an endless maze of chain-link.

That said, the way most people wear masks and are told to wear them is idiotic. 1) YOU DO NOT NEED THEM OUTSIDE–especially in the sun. 2) You do not need to wear them in your car–I can’t believe this needs to be said. 3) They will do more harm than they cause fi worn for more that 20 minutes or so. 4) I personally hate wearing one and do so as little as possible, which is pretty fucking little really so it is not that big of deal and certainly no hill to die on. Rage against them all you want but it is silly and pointless. Maybe the Global Elite are really using them in some decades-ago designed scheme to be the final nail in the coffin of our enslavement…but no, its not that. It’s just an ancient story of too much bullsit and too much corruption, bureaucracy and rot in institutions that accompanies the fall of every empire…and of course more this one because it is in the “Information Age.”

That all said, talk of lockdowns no is absolutely ridiculous. Doing so in the month of April made a bit of sense…at least there was a position to argue. Now it is likely talking about amputating an arm to cure a hangnail.

There…some of my thoughts at least. A little nuance and an honest, but perhaps wrong, perspective.

Guilty as charged.

Death changed me twenty years ago with the passing of dad, and then the opportunity to bury a mother of a five yr. old boy and a six month old daughter (named Grace…how’s that for some ironic shit) There is not one single thing I’ve read from you so far, that I, or someone in our immediate family, have not experienced for myself; like just a few months ago when my sis in laws insurance had reached the lifetime max, so she was transferred out of state to a place that would take her (life support ventilator)

I will never apologize to you, llpoh, or anyone else, for discussing the Word and all the incredible aspects of it !

I often (almost nightly, but sometimes it’s cloudy) gaze up at the magnificence of the skies, and wonder how people could EVER live in a city…….the new LED street lamps put in a year ago are too much distraction for my likin……..

annuit coeptis novus ordo seclorum <<——–===

It really doesn't matter if people believe God is retired and the bible is just a book on a shelf, because everything we're seeing, from Kansas to the Land of Oz itself, is the result of the beliefs held by those who worship the one name you missed-Lucifer, and they believe he is coming back.

I spent yesterday 40' up in an old cottonwood (on some one else's property) to save the electric line running to my 86 yr. old mother-in-law's house. The electric line running to the house where the tree sits, already had a couple tons of ice covered limbs straining it to the point of smoking/arching occurring…

Do people actually live in Antarctica just because that’s where they wanted to live? Or do they just go there for a while to work and therefore are forced to live in a hostile environment? If you take a tour there do they let you go where ever you want? Is there really a Nazi UFO base there? Why is everybody else arguing about the metric system? If we become a One World Order, will we be forced into metric? I don’t know and who cares anyway?

However, this past year, a lot of government types have been visiting, which makes you wonder what the hell is going on there.
