“It’s Panic Porn Clickbait” – Media Scare-Stories About Hospitals Are Misleading

Via ZeroHedge

You can’t turn on your TV, flip open your tablet, or scroll your social media feed today without being bombarded by horrifying stories of over-worked nurses and doctors and throat-grabbing headlines about COVID-driven hospitalizations amid the casedemic.

Time to panic?

Perhaps not, as El Gato Malo (@boriquagato) notes in the following information-full twitter thread: while it’s disappointing to see that we are back in the “media scare stories about hospitals” stage, the good news is that, just like last time, this is simply not the case.

They either have no idea what they are saying or are seeking to mislead

Let’s look.

That’s a scary headline. It’s also a false one.

We have data on this (and so would they if they bothered to get any)

Idaho: (as of 12/4) 57% of inpatient beds used, 14.6% covid. 74% overall ICU

90% of inpatient beds and ICU is normal. even 100% ICU is normal. 57% is staggeringly low, like OMG we’re all going out of business low.

Calling that overwhelmed is outlandish.

ICU of 74% is also low.

Even 100% ICU is not “full”, since all can flex to 125% – it’s federal mandate.

Most ICU’s can flex to 150-200% – they just do not leave the beds staffed when they are not needed. it’s too expensive.

Hospitals are like airlines or hotels: they seek to be full, not empty; building capacity you do not use is how you lose money.

But hey, maybe they got PA right, huh?

Nope.

17% covid, 73% all beds, 82% all ICU.

Those are all low numbers, esp for this time of year. dec and jan are peak flu and pneumonia season.

Well, maybe Texas?

Nope.

15% covid, 73% all beds, 82% ICU. again, all low numbers.

And hey, if you do not believe me, go read the article linked below – the TX hospital CEO’s will tell you the same…

Everyone is freaking out about Texas hospitals except for the people who actually run Texas hospitals.

This pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the panic patrol and their relationship to facts.

It’s hard to get much clearer than this:

But TX children’s hospital CEO mark wallace gave it a shot:

“There is not a scenario, in my opinion, where the demand for our beds … would eclipse our capability,” he continued.

“I cannot imagine that. I just cannot.”

Seems like a classic case of “them that’s scared don’t know and them that know ain’t scared.”

Side with them that know.

This is not rocket science guys, it’s hospital admin 101. You can always find some 2nd year resident having a meltdown and get a scare quote. it’s why so many docs wash out of hospital practice.

But these are low numbers, not high.

There is no “crisis” in US hospitals, nor was there last time. Even perennial basket case NYC was never overwhelmed – they never used javits nor the hospital ship.

Pics like this are used to scare you…

Then you discover it’s from 2018… in Pennsylvania.

Huh.

There were a zillion stories like this in 2018. It was all over NYC, you just did not notice them because it’s not really a big deal. this sort of thing happens all the time.

And it happens all over: “california hospitals are a war zone of flu patients”

Again, from 2018. Remember panicking about it? Yeah, me neither.

It’s like the whole world, egged on by media and government seeking to frighten and inflame rather than inform has lost all historical perspective this year.

They are telling it like it ain’t.

It’s panic porn clickbait.

There is no excuse for reporting like this in an age when anyone can check this tool in seconds and see the actual figures.

I suggest you all bookmark it – use it to check the stories you’re being told.

The sanity you save may be your own.

Legacy news media is the propaganda department of the Democrat Party. They lie.

It’s the long term goal that covid helps achieve. The great reset? It’s always something being used to control people.

Same garbage being spewed in Minnesota, ERs full, hospitals beds full, bla bla bla bla bla. Only to find out that 6% of hospitalizations are covid related. Everyone has put off doctoring cause their scaring the hell out of them about covid. Now those once treatable ailments are bigtime problems and bed are mostly full of those types of problems.

COVID-19 vaccines are just another FRAUD, and a very dangerous one.

I had posted in another thread the “official” numbers Big Rachel released for my county: 2% of ER visits in the last week, 10 people are hospitalized WITH corona not because of corona, and 2 are on ventilators, which may or may not be because of corona.

10 & 2 out of 95k living in the county! Yet we are in crisis and all but locked down again.

They make the raw data very hard to find. I had to bookmark it on my home PC because i only found it by accident.

To the best of my knowledge, folks are still being shown as having the Fauci flu because it gets the hospitals an extra $13K per patient — and putting them on ventilators gets them another $39K per patient …

Lots of money to be made if you know how to play the numbers game …

Just came back from the local pharmacy, the owner/operator of which is a close friend, up to and including spit-swapping on occasion. She told me today that she had the virus when she closed up shop a few weeks ago. That means that I was exposed to it big time before she started showing symptoms, but I, a “high risk” individual owing to age and diabetes, never showed symptom one. Now I understand the daily audios asking after my health and her insistence that I get certain immune-strengthening medications that I’ve yet to buy. Maybe I’m just lucky, but I strongly suspect that the “mortal menace” is less dangerous than local drivers. While she and I were chatting, we watched a funeral procession of moto-drivers pass by, seeing out a local councilman killed on his moto the night before last. Nobody’s died from covid nor even been hospitalized. And hereabouts fewer and fewer pay any attention to masks and distancing. If you´re a guy and have a local pharmacist who looks like ours, kiss her if you can, covid or not!

Kiss and tell isn’t on in a small village like ours, never mind photographing it, but I’d be a liar if I didn’t confess I’d love to have photos! That notwithstanding, I just want to keep kissing her. And now I don’t have to worry!

I argued with a local news anchor about this ~6 months back when they were reporting provable bad gouge from the Kansas state government rep. He refused to see or understand what I was talking about. It’s all panic porn, every news broadcast, every day.

I am currently overseas but dread returning to the blasted wasteland and boneyard that my state of Florida has become. Our madcap governor has pooh-poohed Covid 19 and look at the results. I am sick of dragging the dead bodies of my neighbors out to the curb to be picked up by the garbage truck. In fact, the guys on the truck are becoming rather surly of late and I have to tip them to use the garbage hoist to fling the decaying corpses into the truck. My wife was chatting with a neighbor and the old bag just dropped dead in front of her. It was already dark so I just rolled the hag into some bushes. Don’t talk to me about the Florida Turnpike! Hell, it is bad enough in “normal times”. Now we have hundreds of cars stopped in the highway, drivers dead at the wheel. At least most of them wore their masks properly. Went to the beach and the rotting bodies in the surf really got to me. We pay taxes, dammit, I expect that carrion to be disposed of promptly. The hospitals are full to overflowing. You can wait 15 minutes in the emergency room to be seen, not counting the 14 minutes to fill out paperwork. And the heroic health workers! I sob myself to sleep just thinking about them. Good God! What right do we have to expect them to do the jobs they are paid to do? None, I tell you. The hospital across from my gated community seems to be OK, if you ignore the 50 freezer trailers holding the mortal remains of mostly children. Too many of those rug rats around anyway.
News flash for you non-Floridians. Nothing to see here, just move along. Yeah, the usual groups of the ancient, the sickly, the fatties, and the nearly dead aren’t doing too well, but otherwise the state is perfectly normal. You have to fight your way into the restaurants in places like Delray Beach and, frankly, nobody gives a shit about Covid.
We all go through an absurd pantomime of walking up to the door wearing a mask and whipping it off the minute we are led to a table. Florida Man is not to be frightened by Covid 19! Full disclosure: Everybody wears masks at the grocery store. OK by me. I don’t want them flinging lungers into my lettuce.
On the vaccine, can’t wait to see how that works out. I see the Brits are handing it out. The pantywaists stupid enough to accept a largely untested vaccine may well go blind, deaf, bald and crazy. Serves them right!

I hate having to explain this kind of thing. And then when I do explain it, I can watch how people try to weasel around their own cognitive dissonance.

It is not easy to get people to believe they have been lied to. I guess the benefit of having PTSD is I don’t have that issue.
