Wow.

The term “when freedom broke” is used a few times in the video and is even discussed at one point. I will be honest here and admit I never gave a lot of thought to what happened when freedom “broke.”

None Ya Biz

Problem is at no time after 1860 did freedom broke. Lincoln took a country where men and women other than negros in the southern states were relatively free and then turned black, white, yellow and red all slaves to the state. That is ultimately a bad bargain and so it has been and always shall be.

When Anthony Johnson was released from servitude, he was legally recognized as a “free Negro.” He became a successful farmer. In 1651 he owned 250 acres (100 ha), and the services of five indentured servants (four white and one black).

It was no different than releasing your dog in the wilderness and expecting it to survive/thrive. Really sad.

What did Lincoln say after a 3 day bender celebrating the end of the war?

Slavery has been part of the human experience since the beginning of time.
Regarding slavery in America, none profited more than Dutch jews.
The lucky slaves were sent to the western markets. The unlucky ones were sent to the eastern slave trade. The eastern slave route meant castration for males with a 50% mortality rate.
None have done more to abolish slavery than white men. None are more vilified for it.
Slavery has an incredible and bizarre story, largely known and terribly distorted.

And most of the slaves who were delivered to the East were women.

In Charleston a very wealthy slave owner was William Ellison…a freed black man . Many will spout that Black slave owners owned slaves in order to keep families together but they has been largely dismissed as they like white slave owners/slave traders broke up families as well.

To the Left and blacks in America the USA is the only place in human history that practiced slavery.

I can’t wait until the Reparations Bill gets passed…alas fried chicken at the Colonel will be 60 bucks a bucket due to supply and demand…for a limited time .

They fail to acknowledge that slavery is still going on in their “motherland”.

Will Kumswallow have to pay reparations for the slaves her family owned? Asking for a friend.

Slavery is condoned in the bible. There is no way around it. Here ya go, in black and white.

“Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer, but to show complete and perfect fidelity…” —— Titus 2:9

“… each man must remain in that condition in which he was called. ….. Were you called while a slave? Do not be concerned about it.” —- 1 Cor 7:20-21

We should have followed the Bible more rigorously, right?

Uncola

Slavery is condoned in the bible.

For whatever reason, I’m thinking of a story regarding two prominent figures in Quaker history: George Fox and William Penn. Fox was the founder of the Quakers and Penn was a highly educated member of the upper class who became a Quaker in his early twenties.

In the 17th century, it was quite common for men in the upper echelons of society to wear a sword as a status symbol . But, soon, Penn began to question if he should continue to wear the sword after becoming a Quaker. After all, swords were a symbol of war and societal stratification and, of course, Christians in the Quaker movement were against both.

So Penn took the dilemma to his mentor, Fox, believing that Fox would tell him to cast aside the sword, turn it into a plowshare, etc. Surprisingly, however, Fox said this to Penn: “Wear it as long as you can, William. Wear it is long as you can“.

It is possible the same approach was experienced by Christians and their perspectives on slavery over time. What was once condoned began to be viewed differently – hence Christians such as William Wilberforce, adhering to
the Bible’s John 8:36, and leading the abolitionist movement in England that took root in America decades later.

And, yet, today the civil rights movement has been purloined by the party of Jim Crow. What was established in the churches of Montgomery county Alabama, now has devolved into identity politics: or, rather, people being judged by their skin color and genitalia instead of the content of their character.

What many people today also fail to understand is the role that economics plays in slavery.

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.

– Proverbs 22:7

Human beings exist in two states, freedom or slavery. The only appreciable differences between then and now are the clothing and customs.

Did you hear when he described being confined to his dwelling or side of the street and not being allowed to meet or socialize with others? Did it sound familiar?

At no point in any description I have found is there a narrative involving chains or restraints, merely the relationship between the master and the obedient slave that rested on one feeling comfortable dominating the other while the other felt powerless to exercise his own free will in disobedience to the master’s direction.

There is no difference. If you obey the dictates of another in conflict with your own conscience and powers of reason, you are a slave.

Therefore, I do not consent. I will not obey.

” I do not consent. I will not obey.”

Fantasy Land.

Do you pay taxes?
Do you generally obey traffic laws?
If you need a permit to add on a room, will you get one?

You (and, I) consent in one way or another every single day of our lives.
